This is my first attempt at any sort of pre-save or email campaign. I know some of you have put your email in at my website but after two years, I still haven’t ever sent anything… I don’t have any good plans for that yet but I made this totally random video and I thought it would be a good excuse to learn how to use the show.co promotion page. I’m mostly just curious to see if anyone plays along and actually reads the descriptions I write. You certainly can ignore this whole idea.. but, the video does reveal some pretty important and serious secrets of mine so…
Back to the JAMS! Stewart Copeland - you already know how I feel. He wasn’t always perfect, especially in these early recordings but he was always musical and most importantly to me, so unique. I love trying to lock in with his, push the beat, style and creative choices. Having a singer and songwriter like Sting as part of the deal makes The Police, legendary. Next To You is a pretty early song in their writing and in the beginning, fast seemed to be high on the priority list. This seemed fine with Stewart because the live versions of this song are WAY faster :)
I’m 15 years old and I want to be a professional musician when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend some of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 5 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.

She certainly is.
I agree 1,00%!!!! I think she’s THE number one talent in ALL of music, period!!!
Not only duplicated, but felt + played with exactely the same feeling/spirit. An impeccable musicianship. Bravo!
You are keeping our youth in touch with some of the greatest music that was ever made. Thank you for your love of the classics.
Amen to that sir
I love this stuff! I sure hope I can bring it all back around someday..

I can tell by the huge smile on your face that, to you, drumming is better than sliced bread!
Love watching you rock!
Tim
Mia, I'm so pleased you took the time to reply. 1:35-1:45 in this video is a religious experience... And I'm not religious. It's impossible to get tired of listening to this song... After dozens of attempts ;) But that can be said about so much if not all your music. But this one's got to be my fave. Please keep it up and keep following your instincts !
Hello MIA I am a drummer too been playing for 29 years. Your drumming is amazing. Rock on girl!!!!
I love those flams in the beginning. It's like yelling, "Hey! ... Wake up!"
That's an excellent description.
Great job, Mia. Pushin' it ahead like Copeland does it!
That's a good way to put it. It really is something you have to think about, or maybe a way to describe it is feel.. If you are trying to play on top of his performance. He's one of a kind and I'm a fan.
Giving us the opportunity to witness your wonderful talent, is one of the highlights of my Friday😎
(: Hope it's the start of a good weekend for you!
You're so fun to watch when you're slammin' a kit! Such a natural. Right on Mia.
Thank you - this one is just a blast..
All I can say is... Excellent !!! Drums sounded great. Stewart Copeland would be proud !!!
I really appreciate that Bama.. Did I see you win today?
Yes you played ot perfectly Mia, no surprise. What surprises me everytime is the amount of joy you have. It's intoxicating to watch. Keep it up!
Hard not to have a blast playing along with Stuart. I Love this one..
@@miamorrismusic agreed. Try some Primus. They've got some good grooves too.
This is lit! Rock on girl! 🤟🏽✌🏽👊🏽👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you!
You came in with the drums & I started singing“I Can’t stand it for another day,” but there was no Sting! 🤣
You’ve got great taste & fantastic chops. This was awesome 👏
:) Thank you - it was a real challenge to try to make some sense of the live video of them as compared to the studio version of the audio.
Speechless..bona fide rockstar beauty extradonaire...those pants..that hair..that smile...and that awesome rythym..gotta love it..great song choice..amazing as always..love ya ma.
My 1st time hearing/seeing you, a very bright future lies ahead for you. 🎼🥁🎶
You play so effortlessly Mia. Im impressed.
Thank you for giving it your time and for the kind comment.
I hit thumbs up within 2 seconds because the fact that you're covering this song RULES!!!
Something else that would RULE is inviting Mia to play on kit at another Rare Hare! And let her play one on bass as well! 😁🤘💕😎
Ray Haynes she wasn’t available for this one. I already asked.
@@tysonleslie Dang! She's about the busiest kid I've ever known. When is the next one by the way?
Tyson!! Hey man :D Very cool to see your name on here - thank you very much.

1:07 Oh my God!!!!!! She starts, get ready, set, go!! Congratulations girl!!
Wow, Ohhhh the passion! Nice and awesome Mia! You rock!
There is nothing more inspiring than watching a musician absolutely nail a difficult song with the passion and joy you just displayed. Your work has payed off. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Scott - this one was a total blast :)
Radical. Stewart Copeland is my most favorite drummer. You did it perfectly and I am sure he is impressed. Great to see a girl so badass and who likes The Police 🚨💗🌹🌼🤩💖
Once again I'm blown away by your talent, your charm and your magic smile. Seriously, UA-cam needs a ❤ emoji. Thanks, Mia.
Thanks for giving it your time and for the kind comment.
Oh, Mia! You are so good! Always watching for your next video!
Thank you Martin!
@@miamorrismusic You are very welcome, Young Lady! Happy Thanksgiving!
Regatta de Blanc was an album I was addicted to as a child and it got me into drumming. Well, that and Rush's 'Moving Pictures". I had an older brother with great taste in music. You're killing it in this video. I was never this good at drumming. But can we talk about your pants in this video for a moment? I swear these were curtains in That 70's Show. God love ya, Mia Morris.
I would argue that The Police never had a "reggae phase" but, girl, you absolutely killed it.
The Clash, Joe Jackson, and Elvis Costello all incorporated reggae rhythms into their earlier songs as did the Police. It was part of being "new wave."
I remember perfectly, at the end of the eighties, when the band came to give a concert to Portugal, in Lisbon at the club stadium where I practiced handball. That day, the day before the concert, at the end of the training our coach gave us a surprise that he went to see the "check-sound" of "The Police" 💥 ... - WOW! everything went crazy ... So, with great regret I could not see this concert but the day before I could hear and see it, "privately" :) for about 20 minutes🎼. It's a good recovery 😌
GV Mia🎼
Rock Concert, I use to watch that show all the time! Really great playing Mia!
:) they look soooo young - thanks!
my goodness i'm glad i found out this channel, so happy to see you enjoying it so much and rocking out af
thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Always a joy watching and hearing you drum. I dodnl;t think anyone looks like they are enjoying the music more than you. Keep up the great work.
:) I do love to play..
I always enjoy how much FUN registers on your face! Makes me want learn it!
my favorite thing to do :)
Hey MIA!! Thank you for another wonderful video. It's always so great to hear and watch you, Drummer Queen!!🥁🥁🥁🎵😃👏👏👏👏👏
Hey Adelard thank you for always checking in - glad you liked it.
@@miamorrismusic It's my job to check in! I'm the music "POLICE"!!😂😂😂
Wow!
The passionate musician's drum performance is fantastic.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love playing - thanks!
Wow didn't realize rythum was so fast, good song, always like the Police. your pants were poppin too
:) ha - thanks!
This is when MTV used to be cool! Thank you Mia! 🤗❤️🌹
my pleasure - you are welcome
So awesome! Watching Mia play is pretty much guaranteed to bring a smile to my face and gives me a new appreciation of drumming. Mia, you deserve to be massively successful.
Wonderful, refreshing and positive! You irradiate so much good vibes, much needed in today's world!
I watched your various clips, saw you singing, playing guitar, keyboards, etc, but I have to be honest: for me personally, you are first and foremost a drummer, you are a NATURAL one, and I confess I fully resonate with your vibes while you're drumming!
Thank you for providing me with such a joy from time to time when you post such drum covers, especially for my favourite bands such as Police or LEdZep or Beatles, etc... Rock on!
Thank you for such a kind comment and I'd have to agree that the drums have always felt like home. I play all the others so I can make full recordings.
@@miamorrismusic It shows that drums is the closest to your soul :) Your whole face and body language tells it all while you're drumming compared to when you're playing other instruments or singing! (Putting aside your mastering of the drums and high performance level versus when you hold a guitar or sit in front of a keyboard, I would do everything I possibly could to have you the drummer on my songs :) :)
I'm old enough to have heard this when it was new. Awesome cover. You have so much energy and it's clear you enjoy the drums so much!
Playing Stewart's parts is an absolute blast. I'm really glad you liked it.
Superb, as always.... Got Coppeland's groove and all the beat.. Congratulations Mia. You rocks !!
Really glad to see you begin CD the kit again . You rocked this one. I remember watching Don kirshner when i was younger or literally wss le having a free concert for free.
Omg! I'm such a stew Copeland fan. You are amazing! Awesome police song as well. Great job Mia
Man, I'm totally with you. His playing is.. exciting!
Great job, Mia loved it.
I'm glad - thanks Divit.
You totally nailed that Mia, superb job!!
Amazing ✌️♥️
The police😘and mia Morris the drums superrrrr
Themazo🔥🥁🥁🥁🥁😉
Hey Ricard - thank you man!
Absolutely amazing...your song choices are so varied spot on...and your ability to play with such incredible attitude is a joy to watch...Thanks Mia!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and say hey :)
Just awesome. The Police were my first teenage love.
I wish that my ex-girlfriend's band was still around. They had to fire their drummer and then went more than a year from gig to gig with different drummer each time. You'd so be hired. The Blues scene in Kansas City would never recover.
heheh - I get into some blues sometimes.. should probably listen to more.
It must nice to play this song I have not heard it since the 80s You played it great and you make it look so easy
Oh yeah... I love it and love you Mia! I can tell you enjoyed this one too. I always appreciate the camera angles and seeing your gorgeous smile. As far as being a pro... yeah you're there already girl!
:) ha - I do a decent job of acting like a pro now & then but I got lots to learn. Thank you Robert!
Your drumming gets better all the time! Its good to see you putting some feeling into it, too - you are having fun and that's is what it's all about!
Thank you Kevin - I do love to play..
I like it, never heard this song before and you play it perfectly 👍😉🤗😘😋
Right on, thank you. It's short and sweet and a lot of fun to play.
Hello. I didn't know this song. It's great, well done. And I love when the drumsticks move that fast you can barely see them. Thank you. Bye
I'm happy to introduce you to it - The Police have a lot of stuff I like.
Just found you on here today after listening to another young lady guitarist. You are incredibly talented and I love your facial expressions when you play. You have a life long fan!!
very kind :) Thank you for taking the time to say hey. I hope you like variety, cause I'm all over the place with videos..
This is my favorite cover that you’ve shared. I’m not even a percussionist but your ride to bell combos were spot on and your toms sound incredible. Four minutes of fury!!! Great work, young lady!!!
That's very cool to hear, thanks! I knew this song wasn't super popular but I love the band, the drummer and sooo many of their songs. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome taste in one of the greatest rock drummers ever. Nice one.
Great job with this one! I'm so impressed by your talent. Thanks for sharing and brightening my day!
love this song - thanks.
Fantastic execution of this Police song -and I have been listening and playing this tune for over 35 years!)!!
I've been a fan of the Police since before she was born. I even remember watching "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" late, late on Saturday nights.
Stewart Copeland rules... Bravissima Mia!! Congrats from Milan
Excellent job, Mia! This is one of the songs I learned to play bass on. I learned every Police album there was at the time because I loved their music and the bass lines were easy for me to learn. Keep up the awesome work!
such a fun record, start to finish.
Now THIS is a vid to wake up to. Might not even need coffee this morning now. Well done Mia, as always. .
it does start with a bang :D
if that is music ... when I was your age I played those songs the police was so much fun ... and I keep doing it ... but not also how you do it !!! perfect.... Mia
:) thank you Nicolas.
always incredible!!!! love this new cover, have an amazing weekend, full of shows and joy! hugs and stay positive Mia!!!
You too Sebastian :D
M-I-A!!!!!!! That was so awesome!! Keep up the good work! You totally rock little lady! :) :) :)
Glad u liked it :)
My son just started another band and I suggested that they cover this one... Although not sure if their drummer could pull it off. Kudos to you young lady!
You ever just feel like yelling "Whoo Hoo"! over & over again!.. Got damn grl' ..havn't felt this good since I first heard that song! Tell your parents i said' THANX! 😜
:D
Bravo Mia. "Next to You" is a good as your earlier "Slow Ride" from Foghat! Awesome!
Thank you! I don't think near as many folks will find their way to this one but that's not how I pick the songs to play. I mostly pick them now because they sound like fun to play and this one is for sure.
First let me apologize for my absence , but we had a bad Storm down here about a month ago and a tree fell through our roof and onto my car , so we are displaced for awhile and not really living a normal life. Anyway just thought I'd get on UA-cam and watch a few videos to get my mind off things and you're my go to girl for entertainment. So thanks for getting my mind off things for awhile , always enjoy your music and talents.
No reason to apologize. I hope things get back to a better way soon :)
Matching lipstick, top, and yoga pants! You forgot your would be signature look directly up! Fun song, great watching you play. I thought I was a pretty knowledgeable Police fan but I never heard this particular song. Thanks for broadening my horizons!
My pleasure - glad you liked it!
This girl is a freaking drumming beast. Fantastic.
:) Thank you
I must say that that was AWESOME the way you covered this one. Its easy to see why you like the police. Keep it up :)
yeah - they do provide some fun playing :D
Awesome cover !!! Love it !! Very pro,, love the vid put in behind,, good stuff !! Can't help but smile and tap ur feet watching this 👍👍👍
Great selection Mia! Some early Police...you're right in the pocket on this one...so great to see you playing the drums...you always put your heart and soul into your performances🙂. You really get in touch with the music! So good to see and hear your performances!
letting myself just get lost in the song is the best feeling that i'm always hunting for.. don't always find it but I'm always hoping.
Just incredible.....loved it
That is truly amazing 🤩 excellent cover of one of the greatest drummers ever 😎👍
So much fun to watch someone nail a song/group you love. I’ll be waiting for “Man in a Suitcase” 😉
why must I be... I can't read that without hearing the song in my brain :)
Absolutely awesome!!
“What can I do? All I want is to be next to you!!!!! Nice drumming, Mia!!! You’re KILLING IT!!!
:)
Mia, I love your covers... Your selections and the new life you inject them with. All the adrenaline and crescendos. Your facial expressions revealing just how pumped you are ... the confidence to smile into the camera that connects you to your audience and enables us to share your experience. But "Next to You" is the best... It feels new each time I hear you play it... It gets the adrenaline pumping and brings a smile to my face each time. I somehow think it might be a favorite of yours too. ( I would love your acknowledgement !) - Your biggest fan from California
Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your kind comment. I feel better about myself when I'm playing than at any other time so I'd love to find a way to do it for as long as possible. This one was a blast to do :)
The look on your face durring this video looks like pure joy. Awesome job once again. Very tech heavy song to do.
Thank you - I had a blast working on this one.
Wow, Mia!
Another totally amazing performance!
Thanks for taking the time.
You're awesome Mia! One of my favorite Police tracks. Great job!
Very nice Mia. That is an early Police song and I think Stewart Copeland would give you 2 thumbs up. I have to say, you look very confident and all there when you play the drums. i watched your videos when you were younger and you appear more self controlled. Now, you look as if you completely express yourself when you play drums. I also like the fact that you are perfectly able to sound as full as you want too with just a 4 piece drum kit set, like Ringo and Dave Grohl, Gregg Erricho, Buddy Rich, Charlie Watts... You do the song, the music, justice without having to overwhelm it with what I call 'drum gymnastics.' Just my humble opinion, that's all. Anyway, looking forward to your reggae song. : )
I really appreciate the comment and your mention of my original music. Support my songs is by far, the highest compliment you can pay me. As far a the kit, I actually like taking away pieces sometimes when I'm recording or writing just to force me to think about different ways to make music.
Grew up with this music! Thank you for keeping it alive!!!👍👍👍
my pleasure - I love it.
No chance to rest at all with that song. You have to be an energizer bunny to keep up with it. This is the first time I ever heard of this song. Thanks, Mia!
yeah, maybe Stuart is a fan of coffee.. Such a fun song to play.
You go Sister! This is exactly how I would want to play this if I wanted to show all my friends how great of a drummer I am. Tough song, Great job!!!
I'm not exactly a Police fan but you played this very well and I enjoyed it as I enjoy all of your work. Keep it up!!!
I understand. Thank you for the support.
@@miamorrismusic Thank you Mia, You know, actually, I never heard this song by the Police at all and it's not bad. :o)
I have also loved the Police since my childhood days. I have their five albums. Keep on rocking Mia!
3rd time watching as I'm blown away by your talent .
Wow! Fabulous as always. Great cover Mia. Congrats and greetings dear lady.

Amazing work! Huge fan of Copeland here, you really capture his energy.
I love how ur so good and are amazing at playing this bands music. The Police is one of the hardest songs to play as They are all very talented especially Stewert Copeland
thank you - man, i love the Police!
Yes, more Copeland. If you haven't seen "Can't Stand Losing You: Surviving The Police" by Andy Summers check it out, interesting watch. As always great stuff Mia. Roll on release day. Whenever you tour the UK I'll be there.

This sounds so fast but you make it look so easy
:) it feels pretty fast, but not rushed.. mostly really fun.
Yesss Love your playing and you are getting better Mia, Love the Police, great music. You're really talented and have Amazing original music, definitely be around for a long time and I'll be cheering you on all the way 🤗♥️❤💞‼🎵🎶🎼🥁🔊📲🙋♂️
