Jack White We’re Going to Be Friends/Crosby Stills & Nash Our House/Funk/covers by Mia/Insta 10

  • Jack White is my kind of musician. Sometimes he makes records where he plays most of the tracks himself and other times, he surrounds himself with great musicians. He’s done many projects, had many bands and he continues to experiment with musical genres from Alternative to Country, Folk to Punk and sometimes he sounds and plays a bit like a couple of guys from Led Zeppelin. What more could you want!? A special thanks and credit go to Huddy's World for the lovely animation on the background of the first clip. The 1st song I covered was from The White Stripes, White Blood Cells record called We’re Going To Be Friends. Lately, I’ve really been focusing on Jack White’s approach to writing and recording. He is among the best there is at capturing a sincere performance both live and in the studio. When I hear his music, I’m reminded that my favorite kind of art isn’t trying to be perfect, it’s trying to be genuine.
Our House by Crosby, Still & Nash is one of those songs that stops me every time I hear it and puts me right back to a very specific time and feeling. That was a song that our family listened to and sang together from a very young age and was surely one of the many songs that ultimately made me fall in love with music. Thank you Graham Nash! The third song is a short, funky instrumental original that I recorded very quickly one day that revolves around a bass riff. It sounds a bit like a TV show theme to me and who knows, maybe that’s what it will be someday :) All of these short videos and lots more like them are on my Instagram account @miamorrismusic - With this IG stuff, I only take a couple of hours to learn, record and post so I can do them right after school on some days. It's fun to be able to do some quick projects of songs I really love or grooves that I think sound cool. I hope you find them entertaining.
I’ve had several people inquire about how they might be able to help me out. At this point, what would help me the most is to keep growing an audience of people that have a genuine interest in my music and my musical journey. If you like any of my videos, watch them all the way through, (several times if you’d like), give them a like, comment, subscribe to my channel and share my work with anyone and everyone you know. There is a SHARE link right under the video player that makes it pretty easy. If you have a Facebook or Twitter account, post my videos on there and encourage your friends to share them as well. Regardless, THANK YOU for taking any interest at all in what I do and I hope I can continue to earn your support.
I’m 14 years old and I want to be a musician when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend some of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 4 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.

know what I love about your drumming, Mia? you don't overplay. you know when to lay out, and you know when to put the right fill in. obviously good influences in the music you listen to, but a natural talent as well. fantastic job, once again.

That's a very welcome compliment. Thank you for caring about something like that. I like the musicians that put the song over the part. I certainly don't always pull it off but I always try.

Somehow ... I get afraid of you ... In my youth Crosby Stils Nash and Young had their own original way to add a lot of believe in musical way to my life ... And here you are, with all your unbelievable skills in making music on all kind of instruments, only 13 years old, with so much technical possibilities around you ... Mia: go on and on, it's your age and you are so right to use it ! But never forget the musical history you are repeating now ... With love from Holland. Gert.

🤗🤗🤩, nice!!! Mia, this was a really good vid, I myself cover allot of The Black Keys music when I have the chance and a big fan of Jack White, I started out playing old school hippy rock like CSN&Y, the WHO and many more, but enough about me, I really love how you are into so many music genre's, I think it's great to be that open when getting started into music, but every time I hear you play it's like you are so far advanced with everything you play, you are so talented girl, by all means keep the jams rolling, I enjoy🤩, this will probably be the last chat before Christmas so I wish the very best Christmas to you and your family..., rock on Mia!!!🤩😍🤩

Love it! The funny part was hearing your dog snore. Not an active listener at the moment. I love all animals but dogs are number one. If you ever want to see the coolest dog story, check out a Twilight Zone episode called The Hunt. Classic. Also, been wanting to share about how awesome it was to see the road trip your Dad took you on. Again, the funny part was to see you asleep in the passenger seat with your arms stretched forward and hair covering your face. Classic. I guess your dog spends alot of time snoozing with the legs stretched out. Spoiled dog! LOL. He is cute though. Kinda looks like the hound dog in that Twilight Zone episode. You'll like it. Ciao Bella!

Blackie Lawless once said that bass players were a dime a dozen. For the most part I agree, but there are two bassists who I really admire, and that's Cliff Burton and Les Claypool. You did them proud there, especially since your preferred instrument is percussion. You're amazing, Mia. Don't stress over fulfilling all of our expectations. You keep having fun, and it will happen naturally. Semi-charmed life indeed. Peace and love.

    • @miamorrismusic

Oooh - I like everything about this comment! I love how Les makes weird, wonderful and Cliff is a stud. You might add Joe Dart in the mix from Vulfpeck as well. I especially like you're advise. It's a wonderful thing for people to have expectations but I also feel some of it as something else.. Nothing to do about it either way and you are dead on about luck or charm having no small part in my chances so I'm going to try to enjoy what I do at the moment. Elephant glass is cool. That beat thing above your snare sounds groovy. I was watching your video on May 16, Amy Winehouse was a great pick. She get me thinking about Duffy from England who I also like. However in the beginning you were on the couch and on the coffee table was a book. I think it's about Jefferson but I couldn't really see it, so I was wondering? And 25k, up from 11k when I first tuned in. That's real cool.

Aloha Neighbor! I've been really anxious for this mashup! I'm literally bingeing this post on my TV while I'm writing this comment. The Jack White number sounds like it could have been written for you to sing. My favorite vocals by you so far. CSN were probably my favorite hippie band back in the day, and I love that you love music from my day. I also love the Army at your back. Gotta admit I'm kind of "Bleu Lou" that you didn't pick one of my many name entries for your funk jam, but at least you did mention "MoJo Louie". (fun fact: Alchemy is the name of Meytal's first CD) Lastly I always love your "noodles" on whatever instrument. (fun fact #2 one of my nicknames for my son was "Noodle") Will we be able to see or hear some of the Ben stuff at some point? Well it looks like only an hour or two until you get paroled from school for a couple weeks so I'll let ya go prepare for your celebration.
