The best way to solve the problem is to "equalize the playing field" by providing the same facilities for the other counties as the ones in Surrey. Many of our top athletes are from Cornwall and Middlesex, yet there are no comparable facilities in those counties! Yet, the majority of the "tourism & agricultural dollars" come from those counties! Without vision, the people perish!😢
Central champs use to be held at kirkvine sports complex in Manchester, instead of developing that venue, central champs was moved to GC Foster. Western relays moved from the west to GC Foster. I wouldn't be surprised if Western champs is moved to GC Foster or the national stadium couple years from now.
I am trying to wrap my mind around this issue. Can't see why athletes from a school need to qualify for a national championships. If the school qualifies then selections should be made from the performances in the heats to move forward. Surely there are not that many high schools to swamp the organizational abilities at champs. There is indeed individual glory to athletes at Champs but points and positions are awarded to SCHOOLS!! So why disadvantage a school by taking away their atheletes before Champs even begins? Clearly preselection will disadvantage those farthest from the city and its facilities. Surely principals do have a voice here (or maybe not).
The stadium in Montego Bay has not been used for approximately ten years. The surface is hard and needs to be resurfaced. Western relays has been moved from the west for this reason, western champs is the only regional meet held on a grass track. All the others are held at the national stadium or at GC Foster.
Pardon my ignorance but is there a Bolt stadium in Trelawny? As far as I know there is a multi purpose stadium in Trelawny and track and field is not one of its many purposes. It was initially built to host cricket matches, it now host church services, concerts and parties. There is no running track at this facility.
East produce good athletes too... our athletes comes from all over jamaica. I don't think the facilities (track )is the the reason for the decline in performance
Couldn't agree with you more

What happened to the stadium in the west 🤔

Why not take the western champs to use in bolt stadium in trelawney

@@sportstrackerz9870 That's an improvement. I thought it was used to graze cows
@@obeahman6286 I wouldn't rule it out, it's used for everything else apart from sports.
Poor excuse it has been like that forever
Yet still Western Ja has been providing good athletes.
