I know this is an older video, but honestly the little side jokes and puns that are inferred with the clip arts are really what keeps me coming back to this channel. Like wanna know how I got these cars when talking about the Joker's secret billions. Just so funny and quick witted
I was thinking about the Joker's line, "Do I look like a guy with a plan?", and how that seems to contradict the meticulous level of, well, planning that it had to have taken to pull off all of his activities, and I realized that he's not necessarily lying. The difference is between "plan" as a noun, and "to plan" as a verb. As this video and many others demonstrate, there is no question that the Joker must have planned extensively for everything to go off with such precision. However that's not the same as "having a plan", in the sense of having a specific objective or achievement one is setting out to accomplish. Now I recognize there's a bit of splitting-hairs going on, but I think the distinction, at least from the Joker's perspective, makes sense. He has no ultimate ambition, not for power, not for money, not for any of the usual pursuits that a criminal would be seeking. He describes himself as a dog chasing cars, implying it's all about the process, the journey, not the destination. Every scheme and heist he performs is part of a message, a message about chaos, the inherent corruption of human nature, the blurred lines between lawbreakers and law enforcers. Had he not been captured by Batman (or more accurately, had the actor not tragically passed), it's safe to assume that he would have continued in that same chaos, building upon his performance, chasing cars indefinitely with no final objective in sight. And in that way, I would say that the Joker *plans*, but does not *have a plan*. A subtle distinction, but I think it applies.
@@immortalartisan4724 Is there a reason for the pregnant pause? I recognize that's the meaning of the line, I don't think that was ever in question. I'm just pointing out that when most people say that the Joker is lying when he says he doesn't have a plan, from his perspective he's telling the truth. If you want to discuss the interpretation, I'm open to feedback, but maybe just give a direct response without the... dramatics?
the thing is joker is still a billionaire he says “i’m only burning my half” so that stack of money burning is only half the real amount so that means there is another stack of money that’s all his to keep now

I really recommend reading the Dark Days and Dark Nights storyline from the comics. It has a fantastic villain called Batman who laughs, who's basically a Jokerified Batman who comes to earth with bunch of other different fucked up Batmen from the dark multiverse.
The Joker literally says he doesnt need money, because everything he buys is cheap. His goal isnt to become rich, therefore money only holds value to him for getting supplies that he needs for his plans, after that, it's all trash
@@Bduboff Yeah for all his talk about being "a dog chasing cars" he had a reason for doing what he did. He said as much in the movie. He killed Rachel to "bring Harvey up to their level". What do you think the real reason he burned all that cash was? More money isn't necessarily better because past a certain point it doesn't actually make life any easier, especially if you're not concerned with flaunting status or luxury. Yes, In comics and cartoon its somewhat of a running gag that the Joker is afraid of nothing, except the IRS. MatPat I think the Joker vacillating randomly between organised and chaotic is the true meaning of being chaotic. Being consistently chaotic is in a way, systematic.
he's not vaccilating, though, he is always organized. He's not really an agent of chaos, he's an agent of opposition to social rules - not exactly the same thing.
That's what I was about to say Also i'm pretty sure I don't need a theory to tell me how beloved movie theater pop corn is I already would pay an arm and a leg to learn how to make it at home so p.s let me know if any foodies or chefs figured out to reverse engineer it in a cook book
I thought it was obvious that Joker was extremely intelligent. Even in the comics it's pretty obvious. He breaks out of an asylum multiple times. His origin story shows it aswell.
That’s the thing about chaos; it doesn’t always mean rampant and manic and disorganized. It’s unexpected, it’s supposed to be a non sequitur, catch everyone off guard, and that can include being so incredibly precise, all for the purpose of inciting confusion and shock.
I thought it was gt live I mean both that and game theory are green while film theory was always the red of the circle and the yellow was hinted at for a good while now.

I recall in the movie The Joker saying after the Russian mobster complained about him burning the money, "Do you remember what I said?" "You said you were a man of your word." "I am. I appreciate that MatPat used the "Not Man" joke from the comments in the Justice League video.
He could have also said Wo-man
I know this is an older video, but honestly the little side jokes and puns that are inferred with the clip arts are really what keeps me coming back to this channel. Like wanna know how I got these cars when talking about the Joker's secret billions. Just so funny and quick witted
Joker had a huge plan, his plan was so intricate, one hundred percent order.
Tbh if he didnt manipulate keith szarabajka to try beat him in the interogation room he'd be stuck in the jail lmao
A plan so huge and intricate, only the script for the movie could make it possible.
Yeah but the endgame sucked
Dylan M What tha fack kinda name is that?
He just lied to Dent about being chaos to persuade him to break
That... is the whole point of that line
@@immortalartisan4724 Is there a reason for the pregnant pause? I recognize that's the meaning of the line, I don't think that was ever in question. I'm just pointing out that when most people say that the Joker is lying when he says he doesn't have a plan, from his perspective he's telling the truth. If you want to discuss the interpretation, I'm open to feedback, but maybe just give a direct response without the... dramatics?
@@3rdStageTruth I like this interpretation, it definitely fits with the way he uses his persona to keep everyone off balance.

The best part of this theory is that the joker says, “I’m only burning my half.”
Batman: I'm billionaire I beat people to the point that they want to die
Joker: me too! Expect the last step
Joker:- yeah, because when I beat them, I make sure they're dead.
the thing is joker is still a billionaire he says “i’m only burning my half” so that stack of money burning is only half the real amount so that means there is another stack of money that’s all his to keep now
@A little bit of Everything yeah the man he fed to the dogs remember “i’m burning my half” then feeds the other guy to his dogs so he gets his half since he’s the last mobster boss

But does it seem like the Joker has any plans?
@@Bduboff heh, playing the fool is his specialty.
@@Bduboff Yeah for all his talk about being "a dog chasing cars" he had a reason for doing what he did. He said as much in the movie. He killed Rachel to "bring Harvey up to their level". This might be a good as spot as any, but your spot at the beginning about starting food theory, I actually found all your channels about 3 weeks ago from food theory. I randomly stumbled on a vud while unpacking at my new place, then binged food theory stuff and landed on game theory. Last weekend binged tons of game theory vids and alas, I've been binging more this week and started film theory while on vacation and still unpacking and settling in. As I'm watching this, the real question that comes to mind: If he's a billionaire, does that mean the Joker is still afraid of the IRS?
Yes. In comics the Joker said he he is only afraid of the I.R.S. and he paid his taxes.😑
What do you think the real reason he burned all that cash was? More money isn't necessarily better because past a certain point it doesn't actually make life any easier, especially if you're not concerned with flaunting status or luxury. Past that point, it becomes a headache, especially if you have to launder it so you can pay taxes. It's far easier to just get rid of it and you might as well make a point at the same time.
@@Waldohasaskit210 buy a farmland and solar array first food and heat things you always need then you are always rich because you can live with no money

Yes, In comics and cartoon its somewhat of a running gag that the Joker is afraid of nothing, except the IRS. Considering this is comic land and they also have to get Taxes from Lex frigging Luther and other assorted super rich super criminals its somewhat understandable.
