Have been a fan of Gordon MacRae since 1947…before “The Railroad Hour,” radio show, and now at the age of nearly 86 I still get a thrill when I see and hear him and that fabulous voice! So sad he died much too young.
I always loved this song. The words are so romantic. Gordon and Doris perform it so well. Doris Day did mot have good marriages. But she rose above it and never let it affect her movie roles! 🥰👍
The intro verse to this song is spectacular and more beautiful than the actual song itself. And does Gordon McCrea ever deliver it to Doris Day! I can't even describe how wonderful his voice is!
This song was a favorite of my 8th grade Jr. Hi. choir back in 1956. Still love it, and watching Gordon and Doris give it it's just presentation is even better!!
Picture you upon my knee Just tea for two And two for tea Just me for you And you for me...alone [JIMMY:] I'm discontented with homes that I've rented So I have invented my own. Darling, this place is lovely oasis Where life's weary taste is unknown Far from the crowded city Where flowers pretty caress the stream Cozy to hide in, to live side by side in, Don't let it apart in my dream Picture you upon my knee Just tea for two And two for tea Just me for you And you for me alone [NANETTE:] Nobody near us to see us or hear us Mm, mm, mm, No friends or relations Mm, mm, mm, On weekend vacations Mm, mm, mm. We won't have it known, dear, That we own a telephone, dear... [NANETTE:] Day will break and I'll wake And start to bake a sugar cake For you to take for all the boys to see [BOTH:] We'll raise a family [JIMMY:] A boy for you And a girl for me [BOTH:] Can't you see how happy we would be...
"Tea for Two" was composed by Vincent Youmans (music), with lyrics by Irving Caesar in 1924 for the Broadway Play, "No, No Nanette".... So in 1950, it was only 25 years old, a song well within the memory of both Gordon McRae and Doris Day and the other performers.
Always loved the voices of Gordon MacRae and Doris Day, but there is a reason Oklahoma and Carousel get more play time/attention: music, lyrics and chemistry with Shirley Jones.

He came to Chicago back about 1950 and performed on stage at the Chicago theatre. I was 13 yrs old and went around to the stage door and asked to see him. They took me up to his dressing room and on the stairway i could hear him singing the notes of the scale up and down, rehearsing even during his break! Lalalalalalala!
I only wish Doris could’ve found someone as devoted and loving to her as the guys in her movies. She deserved that. Such a beautiful soul.

You’re my mom’s age exactly…good to hear from that generation. Grew up with my mom and dad loving musicals and know about all of the best ones.
Will we ever hear such a beautiful baritone voice like this again?
Probably not. Those days are gone. Farewell.
Doris day and Gordan macRae were wonderful together. With Gene Nelson, they made a great trio. Nothing like it.
Beautiful.
RIP Doris.
Loved her 50s dress and hair style.. My late mum was in her twenties in the 50s and wore dresses like that.
Mine too...
Saw this moovie, doris day was a wonderful singer
Such elegance and class back then
Gordon MacRae had a "superior" voice, great technique and sound. Doris Day was a wonderful singer. Love all her work.
It's lovely that song and it was set in America 🇺🇸 in the USA 🇺🇸 and it listened in different countries around the world 🗺 🌍 🌎 and I love it.
What a lovely version of a great song by two wonderful singers. May they RIP.
I wish there were more angels like dorris
Gordon Macrae and Doris Day were the epitome of the 1950s

My moms favorite was Doris Day...but I have to say that Gordon Mac Rae really is amazing..in all I have heard...
How wonderfully innocent....

Gordon MacRae most of been an Opera singer...

Wss Gordon really playing the piano?
Yes, he played several instruments as well. Very talented.
I read that too. So much talent gone way too soon😢
Recent Fashion is not nearly as stunning as it was in the 50’s thru about 80’s, then it was downhill
Gordon MacRae is sitting at the piano, but he’s not playing it. He’s miming.
First role before he played Joe from Frienda
I have a sneaky suspicion that Gordon isn't actually playing that piano. 😉
too sweetish. "Tea for one" of Led Zeppelin is definitely better ))
