This is a film clip from the 1954 movie: "Young at Heart" with Frank Sinatra and Doris Day singing this beautiful song: "You, My Love". And, of course that's Ethel Barrymore in the opening scene holding the baby "Lightning" on her lap (Kathleen Casey).
Each of the singers did a solo version of this song but I don't ever remember hearing this duet on the radio in those days. I wonder why.
I adore them both--we shall never see their vocal likes again. Thankyou Doris and Frank!
Are you sure about that
Grandes intérpretes vozes imortais amo os dois❤❤❤
U said it perfectly
I am blown away at the international response to this song. I used Google Translate just now to look up many of the posts written in the native languages of the people who commented to, not only read the comment but to see where it came from and wow! Russian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Croatian. AND, to see each person, in one way or another, responding in the same way to this lovely and heartwarming scene and piece of music as I do. I LOVE the internet for this very thing...the communication between the people in the world at the click of the mouse and, what we learn from those communications...that we are all pretty much the same.
This was the era of elegance. People dressed up to go out to shop, to church, to visit, and to do anything that was public. In 1954 I was only 7 yrs old, but my aunts all looked and dressed like Doris Day or a movie star. We will likely never see an era like that again because, it was probably the absolute apex of the American experience.
Yes, I totally agreed with you. I really appreciated and admired westerners of this era. But now deeply sad seeing how the westerners now behaved, dressed and churches are not frequently attended. Social ills, free sex, pornographic, drugs trafficking etc. Hollywood failed to produce highly social and society moral values films anymore. I am 57 years old I really missed this era which I grew up with. Let's pray we will have this era once again.
@@yazeedkhan9151 I will join you in that prayer. My wife and I were just talking about this tonight. Thanks!
They dont make movies like this anymore. Day and Sinatra together. Pure magic!
Two of the greatest singers of all time sitting next to each in this scene and sharing their beautiful gift with the rest of us -- absolute bliss
I'm 19 years old and I can honestly say Doris day amongst some other beauties is one of my biggest idols. She was effortlessly beautiful and just watching her in films brings a smile to my face. Such a woman.
Old blue eyes at his best and Doris Day looking perfectly gorgeous and sounding lovely. That sweater is to die for! I see that movie every 5 years or so. Thanks for posting this.
Your welcome.
Totally agree about the sweater!
Yeah you are right looking gorgeous
two of the world's most greatest and gifted voices - Frank Sinatra and Doris Day - these movies capture magic at times - this is one
It's so sad that time erases all the magic and those where truly lost

Doris Day & Frank Sinatra singing together is perfection, class, talent and they were both beautiful physically and vocally....just wish their duet had been longer.

This song grabs my heart down deep, it's just magical; these two great musical artists, Frank and Doris, now gone from us but who will NEVER be forgotten!
I'm glad you enjoyed them. This song is rarely heard and, in my opinion, is one of his loveliest. Of course, Doris had something to do with that.
God bless
Прекрасно
This movie was and is still my favorite growing up. I have seen this film too many times to count. The cast, the singing, the acting, the plot ... it was a magical movie for me!
Here are two of the greatest entertainers of the 20th C. The magnificent Doris Day passed away yesterday, but she has left us all the most wonderful musical and acting legacy. She was a genuine star, but more importantly, a kind and lovely person, in a world where that is becoming so hard to find. RIP always and you are missed by so many!
The first note hit on the piano at 0:12 just sounds like a Steinway, great orchestra also with these two inimitable singers, Frank and Doris, such musical mastery! It makes even my toes tingle hearing the beauty of this lovely song!
Doris Day and Frank Sinatra! Wow! No one today can hold a candle to these two greats!
No one in show business today can take their place! This was true talent and true chemistry. I've seen this movie so many times and never get tired of it...especially this beautiful duet!
That Was A Majic Moment Of Hollywood History - With Doris And Frank Singing Together.
Doris Day and Frank Sinatra together singing a wonderful love song Thank you for this extraordinary gift full of sweet love and magic ❤
Thank you so much for this, I love this song and the movie. I know it was a remake and I am so glad Frank insisted on being alive at the end. The first one his character died. There will never be anyone like Frank Sinatra for me.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. This song and scene is so warm and tender. One of Hollywood's best, in my opinion.
I miss and love hearing her voice.. I was always told I have an old soul.. Yes I love her movies, songs and everything
That´s it ! "Old soul"... I feel the same.
Bytheway, what beautiful soul Doris had...
@@theonesupps WONDERFUL
I'd rather have an " old soul " than no soul. Ms.Day and Mr. Sinatra at the top of their game.
No sh!t... me to🥺🥺😭😭😭
Two of the most heavenly voice this planet Earth has produced! RIP to both, we will never forget you, and we have your great recordings, movies, etc. so that we won't forget!
Two of the greatest singers at their peak. They are greatly missed.
This movie had such a beautiful soundtrack! The talented cast of Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Ethel Barrymore, Gig Young, Dorothy Malone, and Elizabeth Frazier made it one of the best movies of 1955. ❤️
Frank Sinatra was the best male Singer America has had till now. And the duet he made with Doris Day who has a remarkable voice herself, is indeed great. Simply beautiful!
Frank has been gone for over 20 years now, and there has never been any male singer who has come up to his quality, tone, breath control, etc. although a few have tried, they have failed. I don't know if there ever will be anyone comparable to "The Voice" again. Probably not.
I completely disagree. He wasn't even in the top 10 of his genre. He did have talent, and this is a particularly good performance for him. But, best ever? Not even close. Doris is superb, as always. She had a natural, God given talent that she perfected by taking singing lessons to pass the time while healing after a terrible car accident. Great scene and a great musical moment.
@@cjstatman And I disagree with you. Frank Sinatra was number one on the billboards during the fifties and he only got bigger. in the sixties he was just untouchable and no one came close to his level and rewinding it back to the 40s and thirties you can just tell how far ahead he is by the looks of the people in the crowds he sang too. girls were crazy for him, he was a woman’s idol in the 40s. This man was the proper example of crooning and singing and so was Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, And Tony Bennet. but we also can’t forget Doris Day who like many others in that time period had a very beautiful voice.
Superb movie
Superb song and
Superb .... FRANK AND DORIS.
You can't get any better than that !!!!
This is beyond wonderful! Two amazing voices, a motion picture that was incapable of ever being forgotten, Gratitude to you for bringing back such special memories. We have lived during the right time to love music like these two incredible artists gave us .To hear it again brings very strong emotions. I met Frank at the Sands years ago...
it was the thrill of a lifetime. No one will ever equal his talent. And singing with Doris
makes this song perfection.
The piano was played by Andre Previn.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes. To me, Doris is more than a singer. She has a gift that touches the heart.
Just doesn't get any better than that. Perfection!
I watch this movie almost every night. I've always loved them both for many many years!
RIP LOVELY DORIS - you came into my lonely heart..
This is Sinatra at his best ! His high F4 here on the word love is just beautiful, what quality he had in his upper range. Like I said before, he had so much more upper range than he cared to use. Thanks for posting.
Man, their voices compliment each other so damn well, what a wonderful duo.
Doris 🕊 genuine effortless beauty, passed away today May 13, 2019 🕊 a day before Frank ❤️
I first heard Frank Sinatra on a recording in 1944. The beginning of life long adoration. Of course my husband was blue eyed too. We were together for over 60 years.
OMG, has Doris ever looked more beautiful than she does here?!
She always did but, as you say, perhaps never more so than in this movie.
jim keeler Shes just a goddess here.
Perfection...Frank and Doris
two great vocalists .💜💜
I've always thought Doris Day has such a beautiful voice, a classy lady, singer, actress and Frank Sinatra, a great singer, and actor is his own right. I really love this movie with them in it, and every time I happen to see it on a movie channel, I watch it, never getting tired of it. It's a classic for sure. Beauitiful!!
I think "Young at Heart" was one of the first songs I learned all the words to -- way, way back when! I've always admired BOTH Sinatra and Day. Super talents! I sang that song when I performed for many years, it's always been kind of a "wish" song, telling of the good things and chances in life! "And if you should survive, to a hundred and five" -- I have a ways to go but if Frank Sinatra's mother could live to 101 and Doris is now 96, maybe there's a chance!
@@MJLeger-yj1ww Frank's mother lived to 80 years old, not 101. Here is her Wiki page: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_Sinatra
But I agree - Frank and Doris are both superb talents and the best of the biz and Young At Heart is such a beautiful song, a favourite of mine 😊
Thank all
@@triplethreat017 WOW I did not realize that Dolly was 80 when the accident occurred.
@@MJLeger-yj1ww You might be thinking of Frank's first wife, usually called Nancy Senior, who lived to 101. Frank fumed for many years about their divorce settlement, which gave Nancy a percentage of his earnings for life. At the time, just to dump her so he could marry Ava Gardner, he agreed to it, not anticipating that his really big earning years would come later. Years later, Frank arranged to have his marriage to Nancy Senior annulled, despite having had three children together.
RIP Doris and RIP Frank😔 The way two people can change your life and the life of so many others with simple and yet such powerful music leaves me completely speechless. To whom is watching this is in 2022 and still isn’t aware, you’re watching the king and the queen for ages to come of the most human and real music in this world
They sure don't have singers and movies like this anymore. I miss them!!
Siete i più grandi cantanti di sempre. ....

Doris Day and Frank Sinatra ~ two of my very favourite performers in one of my favourite films ~ I have loved "Young at Heart" since childhood and this scene and this song always make me cry no matter how many times I see it ~ I'll never tire of it or them ~ hope you, my love and all the young at heart enjoy it too ~ Love Betty xx
Goodness Betty. I couldn't have said it better myself. I remember watching this movie with my Dad on TV in the 50s. And yes, this song makes me cry too. Glad you enjoyed it.
We both have good taste! Thanks for your message ~ BB

One of the greatest movie scenes of all time ! Definitely in the top ten .
Gives me goosebumps lol I love it!
Frank Sinatra and Doris Day two of the greatest talents love this singing and they're acting they are truly missed
I have been looking for this song everywhere, could never find it until now. This is the most beautiful melody and Frank and Doris are just perfection. This is a favorite movie of mine and I am so thrilled to be able to see this whenever I'd like. Thank you so much for posting such a special one of a kind scene.
That makes me very happy. You are the very reason I uploaded this song since I feel exactly the same way about it and I figured there were others out there who also felt that way. Thank you Kath for letting me know.
SHE IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PERSON AND BEST SINGER!!!
Young At Heart is a top favorite of mine for several reasons..the neighborhood and classy city setting reminds me of my childhood. Aunt Jessie is my Grandmother of whom had that immaculate home and excellent home cooking. I loved Doris’ character Laurie of whom was a lovely carefree gal just enjoying life as it came. She had no idea a cynical but lovable/talented guy would enter upstage his buddy by winning her heart. I also love the ending of this movie knowing the equally talented Chairman of the Board refused to see his character Barney Sloan “go out like that” as in the original adaptation of the book Four Daughters. Having Barney recovered from that horrible car accident and put the face and feet to the song he wrote was pure Sinatra! Their duet here was wonderful, and the spring sweater ensemble was very flattering to Laurie’s glow of love in her eyes for Barney. R.I.P. Doris..this film and many others have your beauty and talent captured for years to come! 🍃🌹🍃
This is so so beautiful! Oh goodness. I'm in absolute awe.

It's comments like this that reinforce my decision to upload this song. I'm so happy you enjoyed it Destiny. It remains to be one of the most lovey songs and performances I've heard.
God, he knew how to sing.
Couldn't agree more x
What an information
Hareka Tysiri Why are you being rude to someone for paying a compliment to somebody else?
+Niamh it was a joke, I mean, I agree with you. Who doesn't know that frank Sinatra is great? Sorry if you didn't get it. Like really sorry
Hareka Tysiri I actually have a couple of friends who don't like his voice... They're crazy.
Alright, no problem. :) It's just hard to guess over the internet what people mean.
She glows in this scene and Frank's voice was never better - their voices blend so beautifully at the end. This movie was a great remake of the 1938 movie Four Daughters. If you are going to remake a movie do it like this.
you, my love....talk about two entertainers at their peak and super lovely song arrangement. Mary Ann

i wish i was around for the 40s and 50s when there was true talent instead of being in 90s

The 90s was best.
Alice in Chains, Guns n Roses, Nirvana, Metallica, Faith no more, Megadeth, Pantera etc
Instead you're around when UA-cam exists and you can watch and listen to all the songs

Two of the very best. Pity they did not sing more together.
I 've never got tired of this wonderful song . Thank you for sharing .
Your welcome. And I feel the same way.
These two singers captivated me long before I found my lifetime partner for 55 years now
I so happy you enjoyed it. In Frank's large body of work, he rarely did duets. This one was "a match made in Heaven" in my opinion.
Are you still alive?
@@laflame8548 Yes.
i mean active😊
Do you have more frank sinatra and doris day duets?🤧
@@laflame8548 No, I don't have anything else with Frank and Doris. I think this is a rare occurrence that they sang together. So glad we have this performance by two such great talents. As far as any more uploads of Sinatra videos, YT notified me when I uploaded one of them all those years back. Nothing drastic. Just a mention of copyrights so, I stopped putting up anymore here. Didn't want to risk losing my channel.
Lovely. (Loved Doris all my life, angel and angelic voice)
So beautiful! Nothing like those times of great movies and talented singers like these ones. Doris Day had like a glow on her face, simple beautiful. I love the song too!. I was born on 1973, so I never had the chance to watch this movie, but I will sure look for it to watch it now!. Thank you so much and God bless!
I so happy to hear you enjoyed this. It is such a special song which, oddly, I never heard on the radio,. Not even when the movie was in the theaters in the mid 50s. Still a mystery to me. Anyhow, hope you get to watch the movie. It puts this last scene in context.
Oh, and P.S. Cynthia. Thanks for the blessing and, right back at ya :)

Beautiful! Beautiful! Sung by the Best.Mmmmmmmm
soo beautiful ..........
Happy Happy Birthday Doris Day! Frank never looked better than siting next to you! He got to sing with you too. Lucky guy! You were so pretty and such a talented and gifted actress and singer. I think you were highly underrated. Thank you for all the films and music you left behind.
This ending really gets to me. What a duet. they should have made an album together..
+John Gunderson Ain't that so? If not for the fact that by 1954, she continued under contract to Columbia Records and he had moved from Columbia to Capitol Records.
+John Gunderson Yes, I never thought of that! 2 golden voices.
Yeah. It gets to me too. What really surprised me was that they never put this song on vinyl. I looked for it for a long time but, all I found was individual versions by each of them but never a recording of this duet. Too bad. But, it's because of this that I decided to upload this video to UA-cam. So others could hear this lovely duet. I am always happy when I see the comments of people enjoying it. Song still can bring a tear to my eye.
Thank you so much, somefavs!
Yes Frank an Doris Day one in a million, good together, magical.
Listen to the piano notes on that intro -- that is a Steinway, no doubt about it! (Frank did not play the piano, though he knew a few notes on it. I just don't think he had any interest in learning it, though his mother had him take a lesson or two, it never took, he just preferred singing!) And NO one has topped him in that so far, 20 years after he has gone, though a few have tried, still do, but they just do NOT have what he did. He was a perfectionist and kept perfecting everything about his craft right up until the end. His phrasing, range, tone quality, breath control were impeccable and no one has been able to imitate that perfection since.
a beautiful song from two special people i love that film its brilliant
Doris is my all time favorite of female singers, she sings with such feeling, like she is singing only to you, her first singing coach Grace Rain taught her this technique and she never forgot it..
Just love this movie, the actors great chemistry and of course the singing!
Voz , melodia tudo lindo ..tão diferentes do lixo de hoje .....saudades.
One of my all time favourite films, with two amazing legends, shame they dont make music or films like that anymore.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DORIS!! Sincere thanks for all your wonderful movies and songs. You are one of a kind!! And, yes, Young at Heart is my favorite movie. You've given so much of your talent and bouncy personality to us for which we are most grateful! Again, thank you!! Bonnie

I'm all for getting the folks behind the scenes to be acknowledged so thank you so much for your props for Jimmy Van Heusen and Nelson Riddle. I just looked the song up after I saw your comment and there is another guy to be credited. Mack Gordon who co wrote the song with Jimmy.

Beautiful to Christmas... Doris Day -Frank Sinatra
Simplesmente apaixonado por essa música 💘
Gorgeous ballad by two of the greatest voices ever...
I actually heard her solo version of this song. I liked it better than Franks solo version. But I agree with you. "This duet beats them all".
I agree.Such a pity that, due to their respective record contracts, there could not be an original soundtrack album made available.
Had the above been possible,it would surely have resulted in one of the greatest selling records of all time.
Love me some Doris Day....always have..always will.
What a pleasure! Two of my favourite singers together, singing a beautiful melody. Pure quality all round. Many thanks for posting this.
Frank was a good looking singer and i really love him. He looks everytime so young:)
Beautiful duet sang by two excelent singers.Frank Sinatra(1915-98) and Doris Day who is today 91 years.

Sinatra performing in his greatest period, the 1950s, with another great singer, Doris Day.Frank also sang one of his greatest hits, Young at Heart, the movie's title song.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
I've always wanted to listen to them singing together... just marvellous!
Absolutely disolved in tears. What a lovely scene and song. Thank you so much.
I know what you're talking about. I searched for this song for years. Then I got hold of the movie and cut this piece out to put up here. So glad you found it.
God Bless,

I always loved this duet! I think they looked and sang awesome together
God how I love this song. Their voices are just breathtaking. Thank you and bless you for allowing us to hear and remember real love songs!
Oh no, no, no, no. I'm just finding this out from reading the comments. Even though she was in her 90s, it's always hard to lose someone you love. She was not only generous and talented but, she was a very strong woman. Check out her bio at Wikipedia (and else ware I'm sure) to see how she became a singer. Pretty amazing story. And the struggles she overcame, particularly concerning an agent who squandered her earnings. And, as a side note, my husband wrote to her a few years ago and sent her a picture of our recent rescue at the time and...she wrote back! Says something about her. Blessings towards her family in this difficult time.
A classic pairing. Doric and Frank were much loved. It is good that one can still find videos like this on UA-cam.
So glad you enjoyed it. This is one of my favorites by Frank AND by Doris. I did some research just now and had to correct a few things I had just replied to your comment with. Turns out, there WAS a sound track for the movie and, it shows this duet on that album. But, I don't remember ever hearing this version on the radio and, Mom had the radio on ALL DAY LONG:). They both did solos of this song but, in my thinking, not the same as this duet.
And, by the way, I feel the same way about UA-cam. I have found SO many great songs here myself.
Sinatra was riding the crest of his comeback after the Academy Award for best supporting actor in From Here To Eternity. He had also joined Capitol Records and he was embarking on his greatest period as a recording artist with his "concept" albums orchestrated by Nelson Riddle, Billy May, Gordon Jenkins and Neal Hefti. Sinatra had an affinity for Doris Day, who began her career as a band singer just as Sinatra had with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. They reunited at the AFI tribute to James Cagney in 1974.
I appreciate your acknowledgments of the folks that contributed to what remains to be my favorite Sinatra period. Thanks you.
I just love love this movie. The plots and subplots are crafted with style and warmth. At around 2:32, Ms Day gives Mr Sinatra a look that's so loving, honest and pure. I could only wish and dream someone so sweet would look at me like that. Heaven on earth!
Two of the great singers. Sinatra was the best in those days.
