Some people think that this song is solely about cannibalism, but I don't believe that to be the case. If you didn't know, "vanity" means someone's pride, accomplishments, and admiration. So "Butcher Vanity" means to butcher said person's pride and achievements. But the song doesn't really state "butcher's vanity" or anything else, but "butcher's *vein*." And that they're preying on it. I think this song is more about the protagonist's ego and how obsessed they are with themselves. At 2:02 there is literally a shot of them eating themself. At 2:08 we can literally see the protagonist swinging a knife at herself, meaning the heart that she is eating in this frame is likely her own (metaphorically), and that she is incredibly caught up in herself. 3:03 literally confirms this as well. They do seem to worship their victims sort of, and treating them tenderly, savoring each piece and making sure nothing goes to waste, ione line was even about deifying their food
I noticed a slight error in the transcription of the lyrics, "the flavor's intoxicating" is written 陶醉 (taozui) but yi xi pronounces 沉醉 (chenzui) which confused me at first when i was trying to sing along just by reading the lyrics. both phrases mean the same thing more or less, so I'm not surprised that the error got overlooked in the tuning/editing process. Hope this helps anyone who was similarly confused
Its actually so fun because i feel like both have a slightly diff connotation (to me at least) ‼️ the 沉 in 沉醉 makes me think of 沉迷 which is like addiction (which I usually see used in a bad way or at least serious way but I think it doesn't have to be) while 陶 I looked up and is more like joy and contentment, which is probably more fitting for the character who gets lots of joy from it but also finding out its 沉醉 makes me CRAZYY cuz I could twist that to mean its toxic but they love it anyway

Alot of fat in meats is yellow, and alot of flesh is pink/red, blood is red, and so we probably get hungry because our brain associates those colours with a fresh kill, BUT human meat is VIBRANT RED AND YELLOW, compared to other meats which are more dull. This is absolutely fantastic!! Everything from the knife SFX and crunchy buzzing and the subtle violin sounds so so good?? I love the more masculine tuning of Yi Xi in the beginning! The lyrics flow so so well and it'. Also it was such a pleasant surprise to hear Mandarin from creators in the English vocaloid space :D And godd the music video makes such good use of a palette of like 5 colours!! The simple design is so unsettling against the actual lyrics, and the knife animation is so snappy and well timed!! The line boil is such a subtle detail but it adds so much tension before the singer breaks into the full cannibalism verses where they're eerily still and in control of themself. Also I got the Goya reference on the album art :)

Okay, this song feels really relatable. The song is absolutely amazing but it's even better to me on my weird projection-fueled analysis. Essentially, I get the vibes of an abuse victim having revenge fantasies. The beginning where the POV character mentions how people criticize them for what seems to be to them a base part of themself. The POV character responds by embracing their gluttony (which could be a metaphor or literal) and using it against the people who tell them to stop. They fantasize about eating and harming these people. The song is all in their head. I specifically think the POV character is a victim of child abuse from a family member due to the line 'I want to not forgive you' because there's the idea you're supposed to forgive your parents for hurting you on principle of family. They don't want to forgive them despite the expectation they're supposed to one day. The part that solidifies this all as a fantasy to me is the last line of "Still praying, hopeless and in vain." They're hoping for their abuser's karmic downfall that never comes, left only to fantasize about it. I'd go more in depth, but it'd start to get a little too specific to my experience with my interpretations at certain places. I'm probably way off the mark anyways but I just wanted to share how I relate.
I think there is a little bit off here. I don’t think it’s about someone they hate?? They speak WAY too much about how much they respect the person they’re about to kill. Will treat them delicately after death. Won’t let them rot/decay. Calls them a “Good meal”. I’m still not quite sure what it could mean, but there’s definitely a lot of affection left in what this terrible relationship is.

But the song doesn't really state "butcher's vanity" or anything else, but "butcher's *vein*." And that they're preying on it. I think this song is more about the protagonist's ego and how obsessed they are with themselves. At 2:02 there is literally a shot of them eating themself.
At 2:08 we can literally see the protagonist swinging a knife at herself, meaning the heart that she is eating in this frame is likely her own (metaphorically), and that she is incredibly caught up in herself. 3:03 literally confirms this as well.

I noticed a slight error in the transcription of the lyrics, "the flavor's intoxicating" is written 陶醉 (taozui) but yi xi pronounces 沉醉 (chenzui) which confused me at first when i was trying to sing along just by reading the lyrics. both phrases mean the same thing more or less, so I'm not surprised that the error got overlooked in the tuning/editing process. Its actually so fun because i feel like both have a slightly diff connotation (to me at least) ‼️ the 沉 in 沉醉 makes me think of 沉迷 which is like addiction (which I usually see used in a bad way or at least serious way but I think it doesn't have to be) while 陶 I looked up and is more like joy and contentment, which is probably more fitting for the character who gets lots of joy from it but also finding out its 沉醉 makes me CRAZYY cuz I could twist that to mean its toxic but they love it anyway

This is absolutely fantastic!! Everything from the knife SFX and crunchy buzzing and the subtle violin sounds so so good?? I love the more masculine tuning of Yi Xi in the beginning! The lyrics flow so so well and it'. Also it was such a pleasant surprise to hear Mandarin from creators in the English vocaloid space :D
And godd the music video makes such good use of a palette of like 5 colours!! The simple design is so unsettling against the actual lyrics, and the knife animation is so snappy and well timed!! The line boil is such a subtle detail but it adds so much tension before the singer breaks into the full cannibalism verses where they're eerily still and in control of themself.
Also I got the Goya reference on the album art :)

Okay, this song feels really relatable. The song is absolutely amazing but it's even better to me on my weird projection-fueled analysis.
Essentially, I get the vibes of an abuse victim having revenge fantasies. The beginning where the POV character mentions how people criticize them for what seems to be to them a base part of themself. The POV character responds by embracing their gluttony (which could be a metaphor or literal) and using it against the people who tell them to stop. They fantasize about eating and harming these people. The song is all in their head.
I specifically think the POV character is a victim of child abuse from a family member due to the line 'I want to not forgive you' because there's the idea you're supposed to forgive your parents for hurting you on principle of family. They don't want to forgive them despite the expectation they're supposed to one day.
The part that solidifies this all as a fantasy to me is the last line of "Still praying, hopeless and in vain." They're hoping for their abuser's karmic downfall that never comes, left only to fantasize about it.
I'd go more in depth, but it'd start to get a little too specific to my experience with my interpretations at certain places. I'm probably way off the mark anyways but I just wanted to share how I relate.

I think there is a little bit off here. I don’t think it’s about someone they hate?? They speak WAY too much about how much they respect the person they’re about to kill. I’m still not quite sure what it could mean, but there’s definitely a lot of affection left in what this terrible relationship is.
