Navitimer for me. It was THE watch everyone wanted in the 90s. Probably because of its bling. When it came to buy one, I opted for the 2018 because they brushed the sides and the alternate bracelet links on the modern Navi, and to me, the Navi has always been about big polished chrome. I've never been drawn to the Speedy for some reason. Maybe it's the bezel. If I were going for an Omega, I'd probably opt for the Bond Seamaster-- which should have also gone to the moon in "Moonraker," but unfortunately Roger Moore opted to wear a Seiko in that movie!
This is a great video. I own a Speedy and have been looking at the Navitimer for quite some time. I look forward to adding it into my collection soon. Thanks!
Very thought-provoking discussion, Harrison. Two points to add: 1) RE: Your footnote on the B01 being an arguable tie. The B01 has a movement architecture that blows the Speedmaster movement out of the water. The B01 was designed by the same engineer who designed the Rolex Daytona (post Zenith) movement, in fact- the B01 is an IMPROVEMENT over the Daytona movement because the B01 has a modular design where the watchmaker can take out just the chronograph component, or just the automatic winding component, etc. The modular design is also why they were able to take it a step further with the B04 movement (World Time/Traveler GMT addition). The B04 gives you all the functionality of a GMT Master 2 AND a Daytona, with the same quality of movement engineering. (The B04 is truly the ultimate IYKYK movement.) Point being, the B01 doesn't "tie" the Speedmaster's movement; it's on a completely different level. The B01 architecture gives you so much more capability whereas the Speedmaster doesn't even have a date complication. 2) There really should have been a bezel functionality comparison (you can already see where this is going) given the thoroughness of the other categories. When traveling internationally for business or vacation- set the slide rule to the USD-local currency conversion rate, and it becomes a feature you reference all the time to eliminate the guesswork when you're reading a menu and trying to stay within your per diem. If you care enough to wear a nice watch in this day & age, then that savoir faire you get from knowing the precise currency conversion without pulling out a phone is the type of moment that matters to us watch nerds. That's just one of many examples of how the slide rule can be a game changing feature, compared to- let's be honest, when is the last time anyone used a tachymeter?
Awesome video! As just an observer of each of those watches, feel like this was scored fairly. Looking forward to the Speedy videos coming up as I'm leaning towards picking up a Moonwatch this year. There are plenty of Speedy vids out, but it's great to hear and see something recent, and current, especially with your perspective and knowledge. Love the content!
I have a Pelagos 39 and recently got “the call” the Explorer 40. To complete my core collection the speedy is next. Any other watch after that will be in a novelty status - to include the Navitimer which is of interest to me.
I have an Omega Speedmaster Apollo XV 40th anniversary and also a Breitling Navitimer GMT world 46 mm. They are two of the most iconic watches you can get, but also they are so different…definitely you need both in your collection!
@@TheCrystalLakeKiller The hesalite. The glow is just too good. The ring was bothering me the whole time i was tryng on the sapphire. I thought the backcase will bother me after purchasing the the hesalite, but doesnt bother me at all. havent even seen the backcase since buying. . It wont be a daily bcause of work issues. I am so glad i got the hesalite.
Loving my 1861 Speedy. I think it's a great option over the new one, and I actually prefer some of the dial design features, and the older style movement
Eric Wind once admitted regarding the Speedy that there are all those before 1968, and then all those after. I have a 1967 one, a 321. Also a 1969 one, a 861. And the 321 feels like one of the top 5 giants in watches. A very different league. Similar to the Rolex Submariner, the first wristwatch Breguet Reine de Naples and the first Seiko Astron. The 1928 original Longines Hour Angle or the 1940s Grana Dirty Dozen piece may be the nr 5.
My Speedy has been much more reliable than my Navi. Both are beautiful, but the Navi has required more service than any other watch I’ve ever owned - and I’ve got some watches.
I have both a Speedy Pro and a 2012 blue Navitimer. I adore these watches. The two most legendary chronos in my book. The only thing I dont agree with you is about the daily wear for the Navi. I do daily mine and there are no drawbacks.
I have no strong feelings for either per se (I’m no fanboi for any brand), but I really want a date window (we’re all different), which means the Speedy is just not for, even on a Tuesday. Then again the Navi’s date window on the tilt at 4.30 is just wrong; if they must put it there (not my fav) have it level (Seiko can manage that, so why not Breitling?). So, I couldn’t bring myself to buy either, even if I had the SRP money 🤕 😂
I'd go for a Sinn 903 an improved and legal ( non homage ) navitimer. The 30 m water resistance is a killer, having said that my mate did inherit a vintage pre WR navitimer from his dad amd it's very nice on the odd time hes not scared to wear it. To even the review out a different mate has a speedmaster and my partners dad has a Moonwatch ( modern one) which are also v nice . Aoart feom my nomos my watches are all 200 or 500m WR. As a daily i wouldn't trust myself with anything less than 100m WR.
I own both….and for me it is Speedy all the way. The Navitimer is great, but the Speedmaster is so iconic, so cool, so wearable. It is my absolute favourite
The Brightling is not ISO rated!!! Only the Omega as part of the Master Chronometer certification… the Brightling that went to space got water egress when the capsule landed in the sea. That watch had 30 meters same as yours… FUN FACKTS and FOoD for thought 😅
went into omega store and tried on omega seamaster 300 with metal and rubber straps , thought the rubber felt a bit cheap feeling , then went across to breitling store and tried on superocean , i like bigger watches as have a good size wrist and settled on the 46mm superocean , did not buy from there though £4500 , bought a 6 months old one as new from london as brand new and the first buyer purchased the 5 year warranty , bought the steel stap version and guess what the first buyer purchased from Breitling the rubber strap and deployment clasp as well , managed to purchase for £2800 so should not loose from that price . i do regret selling for £1000 some yyears ago my Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow 3875.20.37
Speed master made a huge mistake with the swatch I’ll never look at them the same. Made them look cheap as hell not an automatic 😮. Breitling owns this without question!
Great vid, brother. As a watch nerd, it feels like blasphemy to say this but I’ve just never been able to get there with the speedy. It’s like I WANT to like the design bc I feel like I should. But I just don’t. 🤷♂️
The navitimer is a watch we need to own, it’s got a lot going on , and it makes it really fun to look at ,and operate, they are all very beautiful watches, you need both, it’s good to have both , get the swatch then buy the navitimer 🌍🫰
I agree with you, I'm gonna have to choose the speedy, it's a timeless classic and much better looking than the navitimer. The navitimer dial looks too busy
I was getting on a flight and the pilot greeted us. He was wearing a Navitimer and it looked immaculate on his wrist. I think the navitimer looks cooler
That makes zero sense. Breitling dropped off everyone’s radar until the last couple years. It does however have a slide rule, something most people won’t know how to use and depending on their eyesight, won’t be able to read. That said, slide rules are for nerds. Nerd pilots in this case. The Speedmaster isn’t all that much as status symbols go, it’s actually rather understated.
Both great watches. Personally, I find the speedy moonwatch a bit boring, maybe some vintage with patina could be cool. The navitimer is great. I went with Zenith El Premiro and IWC little prince chronograph 😅
Difficult choice. I would simply say that the Navitimer is cooler, and the Speedmaster is more sober. I consider them both better than the Rolex Daytona and I'll stop there.
Just silly. Buy what you prefer, there is no "best" of anything. "Best" is a horribly subjective word and really should be eliminated from any evaluation. Such a word is in the same class as "soon" and "maybe".
Navitimer for me. It was THE watch everyone wanted in the 90s. Probably because of its bling. I like your take on first impressions, we’re told so much on what’s good and bad, but we make better decisions when we trust our own impressions
Your strap combination is so perfect. I just realized how beautiful they can be on those straps. Now both navi and speedy is on the top of my list
hahaha well I suppose that's a good thing! They're awesome for sure.
your navi. strap and clasp so cool. Where can buy? any link?

Appreciate it! Glad I could help! Best of luck with the decision!
Thank you for the analysis. Omega Speedy is definitely for me.
Your video inspired me to buy a military green strap for my navitime. it looks cool
nice! Thats sweet. Enjoy!

I have a 40mm Speedmaster racing and I love it
I am waiting for the call from my AD for the newest Zenith El Primero Original black dial. Cant wait.
Recently got the Speedy , like 3 hours ago, I love it!!!
Congrats! Hesalite or Sapphire Sandwich?

@@PyroClit Great choice! Would be my pick too👍🏻
I think you alluded to the true answer, at least for me: you have to have both! I have a Speedy and I can't wait to add a Navitimer.
Good choice!
Loving my 1861 Speedy. I think it's a great option over the new one, and I actually prefer some of the dial design features, and the older style movement
Both are ICONIC WATCHES🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Omega adheres to METAS which is more stringent than ISO.
I love both🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really really had a hard time deciding between the two….so I bought both! 😅 3861 SS and the latest B01 43mm. They are both so good.
Good choice! You and me both!
Hey, it's only money 😊
Bastard...hahahah jk

I was seriously looking at both, but really wanted better water resitance, vertical clutch and automatic. So got the Tudor Blackbay Panda Chrono. 👍

Column wheel > Everything else. Also the Speedmaster worn on the moon was a .321cal which was a column wheel chrono. Current Speedy is downgraded IMO
I would like to own both but have a Speedy now. I can't justify the Navi purchase to myself tho. Maybe the Navi prices will come down? Probably not.
I'd go for a Sinn 903 an improved and legal ( non homage ) navitimer. Up the Water Resistant of the Navitimer and it’ll be one of my grail watch
I own both….and for me it is Speedy all the way. The Navitimer is great, but the Speedmaster is so iconic, so cool, so wearable. It is my absolute favourite
Got both 👍
What about Zenith El Primero Revival or Chronomaster line?
Yea I think the navitimer is much better
I personally think a speedster sapphire sandwich vs a breathing B09 40mm. would be a better video!
The age old question
I would never waste my money on a hoaxy "MOONWATCH".
My B01 Navi is lightyears ahead of the charchoal faced Omega in every aspect😂
Both great watches but for the legibility reason alone it would always be the speedmaster.
The Brightling is not ISO rated!!! Only the Omega as part of the Master Chronometer certification… the Brightling that went to space got water egress when the capsule landed in the sea. That watch had 30 meters same as yours… FUN FACKTS and FOoD for thought 😅
Don’t make me choose! I’m in camp Speedy, but you can’t really miss either way.
went into omega store and tried on omega seamaster 300 with metal and rubber straps
, thought the rubber felt a bit cheap feeling , then went across to breitling store and tried on
superocean , i like bigger watches as have a good size wrist and settled on the 46mm
superocean , did not buy from there though £4500 , bought a 6 months old one as new
from london as brand new and the first buyer purchased the 5 year warranty , bought
the steel stap version and guess what the first buyer purchased from Breitling
the rubber strap and deployment clasp as well , managed to purchase for £2800
so should not loose from that price .
i do regret selling for £1000 some yyears ago my
Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow 3875.20.37
Speed master made a huge mistake with the swatch I’ll never look at them the same. Made them look cheap as hell not an automatic 😮. Breitling owns this without question!
Kudos to you for having both on straps. Bracelets are overrated!
WHOA! New set, intro, and graphics?! Nice! I'm taking the Speedmaster for the record!
Speedy, no contest for me
Haven't watched... but I would take the speedy
You look similar to the UA-camr Cassidy Campbell if you know him 😆
Navi! Navitimer! Navi Nav Nav!!!!
Great vid, brother. As a watch nerd, it feels like blasphemy to say this but I’ve just never been able to get there with the speedy. It’s like I WANT to like the design bc I feel like I should. But I just don’t. 🤷♂️
I hear you and feel likewise. I have learned that any dial with printed numerals, etc just feels cheap to me.
Felt the same until I tried it on. So nice. It’s classic iconic for a reason.
The navitimer is a watch we need to own, it’s got a lot going on , and it makes it really fun to look at ,and operate, they are all very beautiful watches, you need both, it’s good to have both , get the swatch then buy the navitimer 🌍🫰
Love the Navi. So special looking. Go for the Navitimer!
Speedmaster
I know. Agreed!
Vertical clutch, automatic, column wheel…so why is the Omega movement better?
You can't see heritage or feel it on your wrist
the argument that a watch was on the moon... its so ridiculous... riiiight... nevertheless i preferare each day of the year the navitimer.
Navitimer all day long.
Speedy is 50m WR
If you have 3 or less watches speedy… otherwise Navi
I agree with you, I'm gonna have to choose the speedy, it's a timeless classic and much better looking than the navitimer. The navitimer dial looks too busy
I was getting on a flight and the pilot greeted us. He was wearing a Navitimer and it looked immaculate on his wrist. I think the navitimer looks cooler
My opinion: the Navitimer. The Nav is a status symbol, the Speedmaster is for nerds. I am a nerd.
Why is the Navitimer a statussymbol? How is the Speedmaster for nerds?
The slide rule computer isn’t the watch for "nerds" out of the two? Crazy.
Navitimer is as much of a status symbol as the Speedmaster, because Omega is the more recognisable brand.
Why is the speedtimer for nerds? I dont get it. They are both a status symbol watch because they are both luxury watch imo
Navitimer over Speedmaster. Always!
Both great watches.
Personally, I find the speedy moonwatch a bit boring, maybe some vintage with patina could be cool. The navitimer is great. I went with Zenith El Premiro and IWC little prince chronograph 😅

Navitimer looks like costume jewellery. Sorry 😂.. love the Speedy
Neither. Buy a Hamilton for under $500 bucks and it will give you quality time and heritage for a long time to come.
A new Hamilton? Heritage? Authored by the Swatch group marketing team.
Ahahahaha 😂😂😂😂 You wish!
Navitimer is whack
😂😂😂
