same lmao. I was shocked when I heard that
Yes I do.
Why does the story have rape
@@dokidokiwebuwu8717 The prince rapes her while she's asleep...
This story version of Sleeping beauty teaches everyone that you should be a kind person just like the cook; generosity is rewarded and evil deeds are punished
but dont worry kids theyre only punished if youre a woman. if your a king you can commit adultery and rape any time you want.
Um... the king literally raped an unconscious woman who stayed knocked out till she delivered his children. He’s the most evil jackshit of them all and nothing bad ever happened to him. So no.
The king didnt exactly get punished 😂
Talk about not being able to sleep!Freddie Cougar is my King! Unfortunately, because of this story, I have to be knocked out to have his kids. LOL! 😜🤣😂😁🎆💗
KT926 ummmm the rapist gets to kill his wife and marry his victim....I don’t think there is a moral in this story
Fun fact for everyone being horrified: we still tell all the Grimm's fairy tales the original way in Germany. Yes, to children.
There is nothing to be horrified about here.) Children's mind is not so fragile, as some people think. And well, in Russia parents often give their children full versions of our fairy tales, too.
I'm English and my parents used to tell me the original stories too but they never told me this one
Reminds me of Dwight Shrute
in croatia too
Hell yeah
Not gonna lie, I lost it when the doodle of the fairies came up. XD
They're cute tho.

"How do you like them apples" -Jon Solo
It's acctually a quote from "Good Will Hunting".
"That's not a direct quote, I'm actually paraphrasing" in the most adorable Jon Solo fashion.
So I think it's safe to presume that the Maleficent in the Disney version was supposed to resemble the kings psycho wife?lol I like the original story better than Disney's,now.
That makes perfect sense. I never liked Sleeping Beauty though I did really like Maleficent (since I love dragons). I much prefer this version of the story even though it involves rape *shudders*
Back then people had a different attitude about the rape thing, these occurrence probably ain't as edgy to them as to our modern attitudes (like, imo the ending seem happy ever after enough to me honestly) kinda curious now, what if sleeping Beauty was a dude and that was found sleeping by a gorgeous, hot and horny princess, then proceeds to give him a "wet dream" ... Would it make things equally violating or not violating?
@Nonaya Bidness Ok, sorry i ended up with that comment, i originally was only going for the gender swap idea, but gotten carried away with non well thought of imagining of the past, again not to mean to offend, also not good expressing in English language
@Nonaya Bidness I don't think gender is irrelevant in my example ( i think)... In terms of biology, you can't really say males and females are the same, what can you take from a man if a woman rapes his penis? These idea of woman-rapist is just silly though, so please don't take it seriously
Rochelle Yanuzzi i agree but i wish she got mad when he admitted he raped her when she was in a coma.
Well if you ignore that the king raped a random unconscious girl in the forest, it's a pretty story
And just forget the fact that the now-conscious girl doesn't seem to mind.
JayFolipurba don’t forget the cannibalism
Fishfish212 I really hope you’re joking
Well its the best part
And the attempted child murder and meal 😃
At the end, I thought the original story sounded sweet. Until I remembered the rape, that is, and then it kinda lost its charm
You have summed up the entire comment sections veiws on this story
It was a different time. Lol
Same
@Ghost_Troupe cause they did, the right of the first night was all about fucking all the ladies before her husband, in Russia even the immortal soul of peasants belong to the Lords, that is what is about Almas muertas.

I had heard some people saying that the princes in Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are sexual harassers, because they kissed women without the women's consent (to which I agree, although fairy tales describe it as "true love's kiss"). Those princes were quite the gentlemen compared to the king in Sun, Moon, and Talia.
These reasons do imply for snow white too.. she knew the prince befor and if I remember correctly he had a part in getting rid of the evil stepmom. Also the dwarfs aka guardians agree to the kiss.
That doesn't make much of a difference? Your guardians do not own your body, you do. Prince Charming still didn't get Aurora's/snow white's consent. Unless it was made clear that his kiss was the only way to save her life (aka CPR) its still sexual harassment.
@@peacefulinvasion well it was the only way to save their lives wasn't it? I do agree on the fact the guardians should not have a say in of, but if a kiss of my love could save my life I sure hope my guardians agree on them to give me one... especially if it were a handsome prince:P
@@lindavanderzanden2565 doesn't matter if he knew her or if he got consent from gaurdians when she was a baby lmao if she's not awake and doesn't say YES I WANNA KISS YOU then it's not consent, same goes for the princes, esp cause they barely knew each other they both met for like a minute and ran away idk about you but hi how are you nice to meet you don't sound like consent to kiss me when I'm asleep lmao

The Brothers Grim did not write the stories, they collected them
David Phelps okay, true, but *how is The Brothers' Grimm version NOT the darker version*! Even considering that version isn't the original or - acvording to Jon Solo - "not that bad", why wasn't that version summarized or analized?
Nah...
@@judymcclenny9549 they were collected by them from immigrants and natives and compiled into a book... not sure if they were euphanised.

U should do mulan, I think the original story is pretty dark, much darker then disney, especially the end
Well, more messed up then dark, but still, and there's more then one version of mulan, I think it's partly due to it being a ballad
Sandy Hannah it sounds interesting
Right!! Not many people know the story behind disney's mulan, I think it would be cool if more people knew the origins for some of their fav disney movies
Sandy Hannah where she kills herself

Thank you so much! I try very hard to tell these stories in the most streamlined way possible, while also making sure the most important information is explained clearly. I’m happy everyone’s enjoying them so far :D
The cook: cooks lambs instead of children
Lambs: am I a joke to you?
Was thinking exactly the same, but I had a second thought thinking because the cook had to fake the childrens' death/cooking maybe the food involved bones and grown ass sheep wouldn't fit for it now would it? I still feel sorry for the lambs though 😢
What if they aren't vegan or vegetarian and eat meat?

The version I read of sleeping beauty said that Talia awoke from the pain of childbirth. I remember it was written by a dead person though, so it's definitely not a super new version.

Thank God to the person who altered these disturbing stories.
It was Disney
@@canaisyoung3601 In this case it was Perrault, 70 years later.
"thank God", is debatable. Basile and Perrault had not different moral, they had different goals.
Basile's goal was not to depict an ideal world.
Basile was a moralist that depicted the "upside-down" world he saw in reality, where the thugs were in power, to receive honors and wealth were the less deserving, and the ordinary people were NEVER saved by the powerful ones. For the powerless, the moment they meet the powerful ones, is the most dangerous, and only cleverness can save them, and the reward is to live.
The king doesn't rape Talia because it's right, but because he's the king, and he can do whatever he wants. He can can boast of his stunt in front of his wife, so endangering Talia and the children. None is going to make him responsible for that, like it or not. The finale where Talia marries him is not the best of the possible worlds, Is only the world where Talia, thanks to a final show of ingenuity (so, finally, not seleeping) avoids to be burned at the stake, so a victory anyway.
Perrault, that rewrote the story 70 years later, turning the king in a prince, stripping it of the rape (and even of a simple kiss), and making the version we know the most, had not a different moral, but different goals. His goal was to teach the values of modesty, patience, passivity... to young people. So sleeping and doing nothing is there rewarded with the love of your life.
For an even better comparison, you can compare Basile's "Petrosinella" (the original Rapunzel), with the version Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force rewrote 60 years later, "Persinette". Petrosinella saves herself, Persinette (despite being written by a female writer and a real life "strong independent woman") is saved. Because Petrosinella was written with Basile's goal. Persinette was written as a dreamy fantasy for young aristocratic girls.
Both people were trying to make the stories more G-Rated.:-)
@Jon Solo I've just found out about another early version of Sleeping Beauty called Perceforest. Here's how it goes:At Zellandine's birth, three goddesses were invited, Lucina, Themis, and Venus. Themis was upset that the knife she was given to eat with was not as fine as the ones provided for the other goddesses, so after Lucina promised health and a good reputation to the baby, Themis curses the child so that the first time she touches a piece of flax, it would stab her finger and put her into a sleep from which she would not waken. It is Venus who determines she will use her powers to save Zellanidine's life.
Later, "it is told how Zephyr, in the form of a bird, offers Troylus [Zellandine's lover] transport to the tower in which the beautiful Zellandine is in an enchanted sleep...the knight accepts, and by this vehicle that once carried Psyche to the palace of love he arrives without use of a ladder in the beautiful Zellandine's chamber. He sees at one side a richly adorned bed, grand enough for a queen, the canopy and the curtains were whiter than snow. He hesitates to approach for a long time, like the true friend who is valiant in his thoughts but cowardly in his deeds. [Heidi Anne Heiner notes that this translation leaves out the face that Zellandine is sleeping in the nude] He then tries to awaken the young girl, but is finally conquered by the maiden's charms for she slept like a beautiful goddess, as tender and red as a rose with her white flesh like a lily. He speaks a long discourse begging forgiveness for his grand liberties, and sorrowfully, he decided to follow the tenets of Venus."...Nine months later, Zellandine, who is still asleep, brings into the world a very fine son." The son sucks the flax out in an attempt to nurse, and Zellandine wakes up.
awesome 😀
I just read it. It's so sweet! The young man tries everything to wake him as the goddess Venus is basically yelling at him to sleep with his love he keeps trying to find a away to wake her as he doesn't want to take her as she sleeps. When Venus is right pissed and about to smite his ads he finally gives exchanging rings after words, to right the unjust wrong.
So he raped her as well😑
@@flummoxedcurmudgeon680 yep, same topic, just different excuse
Who is Zephyr? and why is this character trying to set them up?
I love how at the beginning his name was in the Star Wars font solo hahaha
One of the versions I heard of this story was that there were 13 fairies in the kingdom. When the princess was born the king and queen only invited 12 of the fairies to the party because of the fact that the queen only had 12 golden plates (and the number 13 was unlucky). The 13th fairy found out about the party and was angry when she found out that she had not been invited. Each of the fairies gave the princess a gift (not the physical kind, they were more like she would have true beauty, grace, ect.). The thirteenth fairy gave the princess the gift of death on her 16th birthday. And yes it did involve a spinning wheel. The twelfth fairy had not given the princess her gift yet, so for her gift she softened the thirteenth fairy's gift by putting the princess to sleep for 100 years. It is also in this story that while the princess is sleeping she is raped and gives birth to twins.

It’s January 5, 2019 and your work is going strong 🙌🏼. I love these vids🥰
In Charles Perrault version where the Disney film Sleeping Beauty was based on, the infant princess was visited by not three but twelve fairies who grant her wishes. Before the last fairy could get the upper hand, the uninvited thirteenth fairy came in and cursed the princess that she would one day prick her finger on the needle of a spinning wheel and die. But thankfully the twelfth fairy changed it by instead putting her in a coma like dream for 100 years and she would be locked in a tower guarded by thorny vines and her prince will come.
No sooner 100 years had pasted and a prince came by the tower and awakes her with a kiss on the lips. Aurora (I should call her) was shocked at first to see the prince, but after some reasoning and getting to know each other, she marries him.
Then there’s a part two version of the story. After the wedding, the prince and Aurora had bear twins a boy named Day (or sun) and a girl named Dawn (or moon) and went to the princes kingdom to meet his parents. Unfortunately the prince’s mother is actually an ogress and she became jealous of her daughter in law. She also feared her grandchildren would overthrow her. So decided to cook and eat both her grandchildren and daughter in law.
The ogress queen orders her cook to first kill little Day and then Dawn. But the kindhearted cook hides the children away and instead slaughters two lambs and cooked them. After the queen mother eats the lambs; thinking it was her grandchildren, she then orders the cook to kill Aurora. But like the children, the cook hides Aurora with her kids and instead kills and cooks an adult ewe. The queen mother scarfs it all down (in another version she makes her own son eat the sheep thinking that it is Aurora) But when she finds out that she’s been tricked, the ogress queen decides to do all the work herself and throw Aurora, Day and Dawn into a pit full of poisonous reptiles. But thankfully the good king saved the day and throws his horrible wife into the pit and the prince, sleeping beauty and their children lived happily ever after.

I liked the story a lot better than the Disney's version!
Seems like a clever tale invented by men to justifiably trade his current wife in for a younger prettier woman and dispose of his original wife. Seems like male abuse towards women through and through. Well, the tale was invented by men, right? Seems like a classic King Henry the XIII move. What a selfish horrible king, murdering his wife so he can remarry a prettier and younger woman that he met by raping, and pretending his current wife is killing his children (she is the cause of his children’s deaths, not the king’s own selfishness, sickness and recklessnes? )
I know firsthand that woman can be extremely evil but men can also be very evil.
Was thinking exactly the same.
Hum Wishdom the king is definitely a piece of shit in this fairy tale obviously I mean he’s a rapist (Kings are always shown as shitty in fairy tales bc they were written by peasants and common people but i digress) anyway how u could ever justify the wife’s actions in this is fuckin ridiculous and to answer ur question. No it wasn’t his fault his kids almost died it’s the person who tried to murder them
Hum Wishdom - Henry VIII, not Henry the XIII
The King seems to be fine to myself. He exhibited Kingly behaviour. And Manly behaviour whatsmore.
I already knew this but it's always just as weird and horrifying, like can you imagine this being published today?
