Wow. This was an unexpected video! I thought I was the only person in the world who loves (and remembers) Rose Red!
I've showed it to a bunch of people over the years, and they all felt that it was too long, too boring and too cheap-looking.
Pfft. It's all about the atmosphere, and the show gets that part just right.
R.I.P. Julian Sands.
I vaguely remember hearing about it myself. I got to watch it as a kid but it wasn't until my later teens and adulthood I watched more horror
Totally agree. I do wish they would release this on blu-ray.
@@karentucker2161 I watched it when it was first shown on TV, but only because I randomly happened to find it. I didn't know anything about it. But Stephen King's name popped up, so what the hell, right?
And now I watch it every few years.
Try re-watching it yourself. It holds up!
@@arkania101 Yess!! I suppose they haven't done that because it might not look that great on Blu-ray.
Not unless they remaster it first, and sadly, there probably aren't enough fans around to make it worth the effort, you know?
Then again, considering the crap they do remaster and release, you never know!
I love this movie! It have me the creeps! I had it on DVD, it got lost over the years! I have to replace it!!!!
Will for sure be checking this out later...looks super awesome and looking forward to seeing it❤❤
Thanks to you guys I just finished seeing ROSE RED for free on UA-cam...Great movie !!
Rose red was one of my favorites.thanks for doing this video. If you haven't noticed Stephen King appeared in most of his movies.
Love rose red miniseries! With all the Stephen King miniseries on TV I always recorded them on VHS and watched them many times especially the stand, IT and rose red!
This castle is SO beautiful and gothic! Great video, hope you enjoyed your stay!
So great to see this! I love this mini-series and watched it recently with a friend who pointed out how refreshing it is to see a film where it's a build up of suspense rather than the constant jumpscares (which rarely hold up well on a second viewing) we see now in horror. Sure, some of the practical effects weren't that great, but using CG in film wasn't so common then and it was under a budget being a tv mini-series and not a huge Hollywood production.
I was so excited when this mini-series came out, as I had been on a Winchester Mystery House tour as a kid, and I loved that place as well. I still think, to this day, it's why I have so many dreams that have strangely constructed buildings that seem to go on forever, filled with odd nooks and liminal spaces.
Thanks for sharing this! Thornewood Castle looks truly beautiful, and I wish you could have shown us more!
What a great video, and channel. Having access to basically the entire place too? Thats amazing. Instant sub.
Oh this was so cool. I am such a big Stephen King fan and I have loved Rose Red for such a long time. What a treat of an episode! ❤🌹
I LOVE this video! Rose Red is one of my favourite movies. I could watch all day! Thank you so much for this documentary....you did an amazing job. I could watch your video all day, too...your vibe is perfect for this....I'm now a life long fan...🎉
Beautiful and awesome thank you both for sharing this awesome movie one of my favorites nothing like a rose scent❤😊
I loved Rose Red, it's in my top 5 of Stephen Kings miniseries/movies/books. I'm a huge Stephen King fan. I love this movie so much that I've had to buy 5 dvd copys bc I'd watch it so much that I had ruined the dvd
I love this movie! Thanks for making this video! RIP Julian Sands.
Omg omg I’m going to watch this tomorrow it’s 3.20am I’ve been waiting for you to do this!!!!
You had me at Stephen King.
I so badly wish he had written this one as a book too. I love this story!
What a presentation 👏 more love and respect from India ❤ our priminister now in state 🇺🇲 visit.
Rose red is one of my favourites
I love the fountain of angels , I want that ! Great location for filming . The adventure locations always surprises never fails. Every spot is beautiful
Amazing location great video
That's another great video! I really enjoyed it. I got that Movie on DVD in my Collection! Now that we all know that Julian Sands is dead i have to watch that Movie again! He was a great actor mostly know as Warlock!
That was really cool! It's been a really long time since I've seen Rose Red, but I remember that I loved it. I need to find that somewhere and watch it again.
Just watched this two weeks ago, another great video and location guys! Got to have my grimmlife facts.
Loved Rose Red! Thank you for sharing! Awesome! 🥰❤️
I’ve actually seen both those movies and I loved them both.
yaay thursday afternoon video by the grimms :)
Excellent video you both are amazing, you did justice to Mr. Kings work, great job by two very talented people.
Stunning, your videos are very well done and you give me the creeps ... but in a good way !
Breathtaking ❤️
Loved the mini scare , Great video. Thank You. 😊✌️
I enjoyed Rose Red, I have the dvd 😊. Thanks again for a great video 🫶.
Very much liked the tour of the house and the host and hostess . The movie was added to my other favorites , with Vincent Price for #1 Hill House. 👍👌🤗.
Watching on the TV as normal but had to jump on computer,
Man wish I'd known you guys were in our neck of woods, I'm in small town just barely south of that place!
Super cool you made it out here, be great to meet sometime if ever back & check out the Western State Hospital area next time very near there for more fun PNW history!:)
Halloween 2023 Jessica needs a rose scented pumpkin. A candle at least.
I love that movie ❤😎👍
Safe Travels you two!
I love rose red !
One thing I think is interesting and also creepy is that Julian Sands, who played Nick Hardaway has disappeared in real life as well. Just like Nick disappeared in that hallway scene in Rose Red, Julian Sands is gone. Now... people think he died in an avalanche in California in January of this year (23), which is most likely the case. However -- his body has not been found. He is still missing.
They found him…ua-cam.com/video/9jT3kHtJZKQ/v-deo.html
@@grimmlifecollective Thank you for sharing this! Rest in peace, Julian.
Your a sweet couple and I along with everybody else enjoys your podcast...keep on truckin❤️❤️❤️
Really cool video. My family is from there so... with my love of horror films is interesting.
One of my favorites.
This was my first horor movie! My cousin and I bought casete(those times in my coutry)...I forgot tottaly of this movie. Thanks you remind me! 😊❤
🌸🖤🫂✝️ ❤ wow this place is beautiful! never seen the movie before but hve to say my signature scent is wild rose by coach its ao fitting! ❤
Also seeing the cottage and garden that was what i thought they would’ve done to the least house in twilight but more grown up and mature looking then all that was left there.
also feel like it would’ve been a bed and breakfast and had a big plaque framed with a few things about the fliming of twilight.
also i feel like if it was painted a off white blue they would have had light pink rosé brushes there to help age and grow up the place from its twilight years ❤
this was one of my favorite walk throughs!
What a house! Great one guys.❤
This was such a neat series!!❤
It was also another movie called...(The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer) that came out 2003. This should have been the 1st movie then Rose Red. It still had some of the Rose Red characters in it but it told more about her life. Good movie, you guys should watch😊
Reminds me of colinwood I want to go
Rose red was very good! Saw it the first time it was on tv,before I read the story.
Your hair getting long! Looks good ;)
It’s a B and B now?
That’s pretty cool!
You’ve got the whole place to yourself?!😮
I’ve got the movie rose red love the movie but I’m new to ur channel and I subscribe to your channel man keep the good vibes coming man
"Come in, sir. You are expected"

Great
Just got passed that part in the movie now!!! Ya knew instantly he was a goner!!!
Absolutely stunning. My favourite episode so far, beautiful camera work and editing. ‘Rose Red’ is such a great Mini-series that doesn’t get enough love. Fantastic episode.
This was one of my top 5 TV miniseries...(#1 was "IT", #2 Salem's Lot, #4 The Haunting of Hill House, #5 Midnight Mass)..thanx for filming this beautiful castle, GrimmLife! You guys always do such a great job on the history of the places and interposing the images of the movie with the actual setting. Awesome! Jessica looked so comfy - resting on that tufted couch. 🛋 Thanx guys, for this! Stay safe. Peace and Happy Halloween!
Salems Lot is being remade
The Haunting At Hill House was Epic! 😀
@Ratnuts7 Eeeka..if it's not broken..don't fix it
Seen Kingdom hospital? Another good king series!
I Love every one you listed, But, You can't forget the original "The Stand" (The remake was horrid though) 🤔
Another good miniseries that no one really talks about, got it on DVD. The house is stunning. You two go on amazing adventures. I’m very jealous but happy you share the experiences with us. 😊
I also have DVD. Love it 👍
@@neighborhoodcatlady6094 Good stuff.
This is still one of my absolute favorite horror movies. I got so excited to see this video pop up.
Mine, too I was obsessed. I owned the DVDs, the diary, all of it.
I remember starting to watch the first part then never finished it.... I know I'm missing out
I absolutely love this film!!! I watched the film first and then a year ago I read the book The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer My Life At Rose Red. I found myself submerged in the story and felt like I was there as it was unfolding. It is told from the perspective of both Joyce Reardon and Ellen Rimbauer. I love the original film. However, I would actually do a remake of this film that included more of the story told from Ellen Rimbauer's perspective.
I don't know. I thought The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer replaced horror and mystery with tragedy, and if a remake was made, focusing too much on
Ellen's perspective would arguably turn the show into a melodrama. I definitely wouldn't jump back and forth too much in time to show flashbacks...
We have the diary of Emily rimbaur movie, which does just this! I think it's better as a stand alone, I watch it as a prequel before I watch rose red.
So happy to see this. I’m so blown away at the lack of people who’ve seen this. Still to this day, scarier than MOST scary movies and a phenomenal mini series overall.
100% agree!!! 😈🌹
I was just about to say the same thing!
Best thing Stephen king has ever done but for some reason nobody knows about it... Why?
Unfortunately, I haven’t even heard of it till now. It looks like a good one. Been a Stephen King fan for over 40 years.
@@csh43166 oh so true !!
There was a prequel as well. I saw this when it came out still so scary. Also there is a book called My Life At Rose Red
Great mini series. It's definitely very underrated. I have it on dvd and watch it at least once a year. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Keep up the great work.
One of my favorite Stephen King miniseries it was a blast we loved it. The special effects were amazing & of course Mr King Delivered the Pizza! It is a great haunted house story! Mike & Jessica this was out of the Park my dear friends! Appreciate the efforts in all your quality work, From The Video,Camera & editing skills are perfect! Luv&Peace Sean&family Cheers to the blast we have been having watching you grow Ty Guys!
Thank you, and happy you enjoyed the adventure. Happy Halloween.
@grimmlifecollective omgosh you guy's were about 25 minutes from where we live, ABSOLUTELY DIG THIS ADVENTURE HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃
Fantastic! I absolutely love this miniseries, watch every October as part of my Halloween movie marathon. Thanks so much!
Gorgeous Mansion! .... You did a great job filming and showing us behind the scenes. 🖤
This was fantastic! I had never seen the house in its "natural" state that close up. I was struck how many architectural similarities (styles) it has to Meadowbrook Hall in Rochester, MI. Now I have to go see if maybe they were designed by the same firm or architect. What an amazing experience to add to your list.
I've been to Meadowbrook Hall many times. I love going there especially when it is decorated for Christmas. Tudor style homes are my favorite English architecture. I love Rose Red.
That was magical and thank you for showing us such an amazing place. Happy Halloween!
My wife and I stayed two nights here about 6 years ago..... the first night we were all alone in the entire place. That first night we explored and pretended it was our house, we had free run of the whole place. It was fantastic, I little creepy, but very fun.
PS We stayed in the Rose Red Room as well.
So awesome
No paranormal at all?
@@chicogozosodecabellosedoso Unfortunately, no.
How did you get the entire place to yourself, dont they have staff there while people spend the night???
Did you survive the night?
That was amazing. I loved the film, I bought the DVD. I scared an ex - girlfriend with it.
She didn’t like horror films, but she would watch them if I was in the room. I showed her “Rose Red” and she sat through a couple of the discs but it got too much for her and she asked me to take it off.
Thanks for this, your film was great and it brought me some fond memories. I’ll have to dig the DVD up and watch it again. You and Jessica stay safe and well and thanks for sharing, Blessings,❤.
Wow. Just wow. Michael and jessica never disappoint in yalls videos. Such a beautiful residence and its awesome that you can actually stay in the room. My wife and I would love to someday actually tour various movie and tv locations. We love the fact that michael and baby ghoul are an inspiration of achieving such a feat on the future. Happy Halloween 🎃
You and Jessica make me so happy! Thank you for your videos! Found you about a year and a half ago on UA-cam because I am from the Gainesville/Micanopy area and was learning more about River Phoenix .. your River Phoenix video came up and I’ve been hooked on your channel ever since. You two are the best.
Such a great movie…emery was a weirdo
No, he was a great guy. You’d be lucky to have such a man.
Thank you Grimm life collective another one of my all-time favorite Stephen King miniseries👻👻🔥🔥 Great coverage and all the behind-the-scenes footage you guys got is amazing
I never heard of this movie, I will have to watch it now. Maybe you could do a GrimmUpAllNight with this one! Ahhh....no wonder. It was a miniseries. Another amazing video! You guys are masters of your craft!
This movie was the first Stephen King film I ever watched. My parents were very protective of what me and my brother watched when we were kids (we weren't even allowed to watch The Simpsons) and this came out when I was in high school. I was actually surprised when I found out some of my friends in college knew the movie and we just started quoting the best parts to each other.
Grimm you always manage to upload these videos right around the time I'm thinking about the movies! Mind reader! Thank you for all of your uploads ☺️
We try. Thank you for watching.
Hi Michael and Jessica! Love your videos and channel. I am watching your video right now. You guys are awesome and amazing. Can't wait to see your next video.
I’ll be very surprised…. But does anyone remember when Steven merchant, with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington, gave this film away as a prize on Xfm in about 2004?! It was the first thing I thought of when I seen this video 😂
One of my childhood friends got married at Thornewood! One of the bridesmaids and I were told to keep out from a certain area, we went and definitely had a ghost experience lol beautiful space 🏰
I’ve never seen Rose Red even though I am a huge fan of Stephen King but by watching this video, I want to see the movie and stay in this castle so bad! You guys are amazing and I love your videos!
You should definitely watch it!
It was actually a TV mini series, but you can get it on DVD. I think it's a little over 4 hours long.
I remember when they were filming this in the area back then.I remember when my Mom told me a lady with the props department had purchased a vintage baby stroller Mom had in her space at South Tacoma Antique Mall. They ended up not using it for the movie though. Maybe one day that stroller will show up in another movie or tv show. The couple that built this manor is buried at Old Tacoma Cemetery btw.
This was an amazing movie! And such a gorgeous house! There really is a story book feel to that garden
What an unexpected treat to go with my morning coffee! I LOVE STEPHEN KING! Happy Halloween!🎃 🌹 🥀
🌹🥀🌹🥀🌹🥀🌹 Thanks again Michael and Jessica for all you do for us and taking us on these trips!♥️🖤🥀🌹
if you know and remember rose red you're a real legend... not alot of people know or even heard of it.. once they hear 3 hour movie they turn away..... they are walking away from a masterpiece
This movie use to scare me so bad as a kid. great video guys!
I'm glad someone Finally did this Location of very underrated Stephen King MASTERPIECE and Thornewood Castle - a Marvelous Mansion - Right Here in America!!

To be sure, the Grimms will be getting the new for 2023 Department 56 Madame Laveau figure, her Crypt and the Ghostbusters library.

Im so in love with your channel! This is pure gold, i loved this movie so much and still do! Gotta rewatch it now
Good Morning!! Love this mini series sooo much!! What a beautiful mansion. Thank you for what you guys do!!
Watching this makes me think of Julian Sands......hoping he is found soon. It's still hard to believe that he's been missing since January. 😢
Then, we Grimm Fans must think of him, and with a positive light. Bless his heart.❤
@@EdenRose097 yeah, I saw that. If it does turn out to be him, at least his family and friends will get some closure.
Sadly He is recovered on June 23rd.Rest In Peace.
Who the heck is Julian?
@@chicogozosodecabellosedoso he was a British actor who had many memorable roles. My favorites are Nick in Rose Red (a Stephen King story about a haunted house), the voice of Aragog in Harry Potter, and many guest starring roles on TV.
Another great video, and I have now decided I am going to watch Rose Red this weekend! Keep up the great work... Every video is just amazing.
Fabulous! Awesome movie- great job as always! Happy Halloween 🎃
I really appreciate how respectful they are of the properties they visit. Other channels that do this sort of thing often sneak into peoples yards without permission, go where they are not supposed to and similar inconsiderate garbage. I love that they get permission, and if they don't have it they stay on public property and the like.
Another great video. Thanks. I wish I was there to see that beautiful place in person.
Just finished watching this video on my break at work, your videos I look forward to greatly! They make me so happy and it’s been hard, my mom is getting brain surgery tomorrow to remove a ruptured and bleeding tumor so I have been a mess and filled with worry, your videos give me comfort and your and Baby Ghouls soothing voices just make it that more special, and the stories told of it all too!
