Absolutely stunning. My favourite episode so far, beautiful camera work and editing. ‘Rose Red’ is such a great Mini-series that doesn’t get enough love. Fantastic episode.
I don't want to detract from your amazing video, but the timing of it cannot be a coincidence!! If you did not know, one of Red Rose's stars, Julian Sands, went missing on a hike months ago. After exhausted searching, they didn't find him, and declared him deceased. The day you posted this video, my mom asked me if I had heard anything about him, I had not. This was one of my top 5 TV miniseries...(#1 was "IT", #2 Salem's Lot, #4 The Haunting of Hill House, #5 Midnight Mass)..thanx for filming this beautiful castle, GrimmLife! You guys always do such a great job on the history of the places and interposing the images of the movie with the actual setting. Awesome! Jessica looked so comfy - resting on that tufted couch. 🛋 Thanx guys, for this! Stay safe. Peace and Happy Halloween!
I absolutely love this film!!! I watched the film first and then a year ago I read the book The Diary Of Ellen Rimbauer My Life At Rose Red. I found myself submerged in the story and felt like I was there as it was unfolding. It is told from the perspective of both Joyce Reardon and Ellen Rimbauer. I love the original film. However, I would actually do a remake of this film that included more of the story told from Ellen Rimbauer's perspective.
I don't know. I thought The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer replaced horror and mystery with tragedy, and if a remake was made, focusing too much on Ellen's perspective would arguably turn the show into a melodrama. I definitely wouldn't jump back and forth too much in time to show flashbacks...
I'm glad someone Finally did this Location of very underrated Stephen King MASTERPIECE and Thornewood Castle - a Marvelous Mansion - Right Here in America!!
My wife and I stayed two nights here about 6 years ago..... the first night we were all alone in the entire place. That first night we explored and pretended it was our house, we had free run of the whole place. It was fantastic, I little creepy, but very fun. PS We stayed in the Rose Red Room as well.
One of my childhood friends got married at Thornewood! One of the bridesmaids and I were told to keep out from a certain area, we went and definitely had a ghost experience lol beautiful space 🏰
This movie was the first Stephen King film I ever watched. My parents were very protective of what me and my brother watched when we were kids (we weren't even allowed to watch The Simpsons) and this came out when I was in high school. I was actually surprised when I found out some of my friends in college knew the movie and we just started quoting the best parts to each other.
This was fantastic! I had never seen the house in its "natural" state that close up. I was struck how many architectural similarities (styles) it has to Meadowbrook Hall in Rochester, MI. Now I have to go see if maybe they were designed by the same firm or architect. What an amazing experience to add to your list.
I've been to Meadowbrook Hall many times. I love going there especially when it is decorated for Christmas. Tudor style homes are my favorite English architecture. I love Rose Red.

Thank you so much for this video....I am a HUUUGGGEEE fan of Rose Red....I am jealous of you for seeing it in person....I envy you. You 2 are my favorite content makers.....I love you guys!!!!!
So great to see this! I love this mini-series and watched it recently with a friend who pointed out how refreshing it is to see a film where it's a build up of suspense rather than the constant jumpscares (which rarely hold up well on a second viewing) we see now in horror. Sure, some of the practical effects weren't that great, but using CG in film wasn't so common then and it was under a budget being a tv mini-series and not a huge Hollywood production. I was so excited when this mini-series came out, as I had been on a Winchester Mystery House tour as a kid, and I loved that place as well. I still think, to this day, it's why I have so many dreams that have strangely constructed buildings that seem to go on forever, filled with odd nooks and liminal spaces. Thanks for sharing this! Thornewood Castle looks truly beautiful, and I wish you could have shown us more!

Thank you for another great video 😊
