The change in the tone in gameplay was memorable but my 11 year old self thought it was the coolest thing ever. Jak 3 was even better and I have fond memories of that game as well. I remember back then I didn't hear about anyone who didn't like the tone shift from the first to Jak II. In my opinion, it was the right move.
Sony's negligence and Naughty Dog's priorities over Uncharted 2, because they were working on Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier at the same time as Uncharted 2 the most logical move would have been was to finish one game first then the other, but no they worked on Lost Frontier half way and passed it to another studio to finished what they started and the end result not many people liked Lost Frontier
Sony Interactive Entertainment gives their studios complete creative freedom how is that "negligence" Naughty Dog prioritizing Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is not "negligence" when they realized they could not juggle two projects at once so it was better to pass the smaller scale one after cancelling it to another studio that would revive it to fully focus on what they wanted That's not how video game development works nor the idea behind contracting said studio to be able to focus entirely on a new project Guess what if Naughty Dog tried to juggle both at once neither would have released

precursor legacy was one of the first games i played on console. the colorful world and music and characters were awesome. the game itself really isn't long but it still feels like a big adventure. if they aver brought it back either continuing the IP or remastering it i'd buy it in a heartbeat
Wasn’t much into the early games, but the 3rd? Loved it. Great replaying opportunities, plus just finding cool fights to get in around the city once you had all the weapon upgrades. And stealing countless hover cars and getting in dogfights with police
Loved all three games but I'll always wonder how the stories and gameplay of sequels could've been if they kept the story in the original game's world.
Jak and Daxter was my favorite game as a kid. It was the first and one of the few games I 100% completed. The sequels were just as fun even though I never finished them.
In my opinion, if they went a Tropico like route in a game where you could play as the Krimson Guard and or Freedom League and build up a city and protect it from threats, I would totally play that ngl just give people more direct control over the military units than Tropico would normally allow like even let you control them in an optional first person/third person way would be incredible! 💜
Listening to this as I made dinner and I get to the "Jak 2 is one of the most difficult games" part and I'm like what? The game was challenging but I 100% that game as a kid.
The ps2 was no longer the most sold console by a year before you uploaded this video. You spoke in current, only a tiny tweak needed for it to be past tense
Honestly i think a soft reboot or new story direction after jak 3 would work in the same setting. Introduce light rpg mechanics for platforming/eco based skills and gun/vehicle development through crafting, materials, money, XP etc. in line with the core mechanics from the original trilogy. Maybe something similar to what gears did with the locust into the swarm could be done with the metal heads for a new enemy archetype.
I still have my Playstation Magazine with the cover showing Ratchet and Jack facing off. Love both franchises and have certainly noticed how Ratchet and Clank are still relevant while Jack and Daxter have faded.....
I missed PlayStation franchises that aren't on the PS5 yet. I would lose my breath if Killzone, Sly Cooper, Resistance or Jax and Daxter rebooted or made a comeback to the PlayStation 5.
They can bring it back if they want to. The key is to not change the character design too much and to have a reasonable explanation for why the series continues. For example, he finds a way back but realizes that there's a new evil that wants to destroy not only the old Jack from the beginning but also the current one as he is the reason for his plans ruining each reality he finds himself in. It would fit the theme of opening rift gates up and bouncing around realities.
I Finished Jak 3 2 days ago and it´s still one of my loved series, i can play them over and over again, I also activated PS+ Premium so i can play Daxter and horible Lost Frontier again and the rest of the gems from PS One, PSP and PS2 era

I remember as a kid mom took us grocery shopping we wanted to stay home alone cause we hated going grocery shopping. But luckily we went and mom surprised us by letting us pick out a game that night. We didn’t know or ever heard of this game but me and big bro both agreed on it. We spent many hours that winter taking turns enjoying and laughing
Jak and Daxter is top three series I'd want to see rebooted. Jak 3 was the first game I helped my older brother beat a game instead of the other way around
the amount of nostalgia and sadness that comes over me watching these clips tells me that I need to play these again
Jak and dexter was easily my favorite game as kid
I honestly think a more nostalgic cartoony based action adventure game would do great today...
Give me a FFX 7, 8 9 and 10 and Jake and dexter again
What happened to Sly Cooper?!
So happy to see all of these fellow adults sharing the same love I’ve had for this game since I was a child. Never give up hope guys! JAK 4 ‼️
Jak and daxter were definitely in my top 3 favorite games growing up, loved all 3 games so much
I was obsessed with playing Jak 1 as a kid, and had the HD collection as a teen. I really wish sly and jak would come back.
Jak & daxter is my favorite naughty dog IP and got me thru my childhood + JAK 2 is the best in the series
I was 7 years old when Jak 2 came out and I hadn’t really had a challenging gaming experience at that point. Jak 2 was my defining moment of realizing that games were something I was willing to pour tons of effort into to beat
i remember my big brother getting a ps2 for his birthday around 2002 with Jak and Daxter and Gran Turismo 3. still have those two and the ps2 👍
I voiced Torn & Jinx in Jak II, 3, X. I wasn’t a gamer and it was hard so I gave up on it. (Jak II) The fans over the years have surprised me. I had no idea it still meant something to people. Thanks for that!
remember a time when naughty dog wasn't just a last of us studio?
This and ratchet and clank with my dad back in the days man what a fucking memory being born in the 90’s such a blessing when it came to gaming
We got crash, we got spyro and jak and daxter were forgotten such a shame
I remember going to a friend’s house as a child and playing jak the first time. I thought it was amazing, the vehicle movement REALLY stood out to me for some reason at the time.
10:49 Jak X was phenomenal, my personal favorite. And yes, I grew up with all
I remember playing the Jak games as kid. I barely remember the first Jak and Daxter game but I absolutely loved Jak II.
Sony Interactive Entertainment gives their studios complete creative freedom how is that "negligence"
Naughty Dog prioritizing Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is not "negligence" when they realized they could not juggle two projects at once so it was better to pass the smaller scale one after cancelling it to another studio that would revive it to fully focus on what they wanted
That's not how video game development works nor the idea behind contracting said studio to be able to focus entirely on a new project
Guess what if Naughty Dog tried to juggle both at once neither would have released
@@bamban_garcia5562 they could delayed Lost Frontier and worked on Uncharted, also another example of Sony's neglecting their IPs Sly Cooper that was meant to have a episode of Sly escaping Ancient Egypt and they said no
@@sir.jinzu9426 Sucker Punch confirmed during a q&a event after they were done with Ghost Of Tsushima that they can revive Sly Cooper whenever they want they just choose to focus on new projects
Even their studio profile outlines they are an all hands on deck a single project at a time company
Studios move on from past projects to create new experiences nothing wrong with that
Hell the Sly Trilogy was not remastered until Sucker Punch gave their blessing towards Sanzaru Games
@@bamban_garcia5562 wasn't Sanzaru Games that worked on Sly 4? Then Facebook bought them to make VR games
@@sir.jinzu9426The studios don't want to work on the games you want back, easy as that. Sony is not forcing them to anything other than the live service stuff, and that initiative has now been canceled and Sony changed their strategy.
Loved playing those games as a kid. While the tone definitely got more serious I thought it was awesome. Really hope the series gets a remake! Getting Crash & Spyro was a welcome surprise and I think there’s still plenty of us who would welcome it!
I used to make that deep voice all the time haha miss Jak
I frikken loved this game! It was my favourite ps2 of all time. The world was beautiful, the guns and cars were so fun and I loved the characters and story. My best bud and I use to play Jack and Dexter 3 whenever I’d go visit him. A lot of good memories made and it was a truly fantastic game! Good times👌👌👌
Jak 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Very frustrating but still love the game. PS2 with Jak Ratchet and Sly Cooper was a great time. Maybe one day we will get more.
I think a game series being complete is actually a good thing. The creators finished their story and wanted to stop.
We should be happy about that....
Best duo ever these games were the best played everyone
8:19 wow thats a surprise. I will admit there were some parts of the game that became difficult but not enough that i thought it would rank that high
Ikr! I literally mastered that game at the age of 7! There were hard parts but it was still beatable.
This is definitely one of the games that needs to return with Jak and Daxter with new storyline, new gameplay, graphics, there’s a lot, this is one of the legendary games that needs to come back
precursor legacy was one of the first games i played on console. the colorful world and music and characters were awesome. the game itself really isn't long but it still feels like a big adventure. if they aver brought it back either continuing the IP or remastering it i'd buy it in a heartbeat
Wasn’t much into the early games, but the 3rd? Loved it. Great replaying opportunities, plus just finding cool fights to get in around the city once you had all the weapon upgrades. And stealing countless hover cars and getting in dogfights with police
I really wish that Naughty Dog kept the Jak and Daxter series going, just like Insomniac did with Ratchet and Clank. Who knows? Give it time
Loved all three games but I'll always wonder how the stories and gameplay of sequels could've been if they kept the story in the original game's world.
Your planning to do: What happened to Sly Cooper?
Jak and Daxter was my favorite game as a kid. It was the first and one of the few games I 100% completed. The sequels were just as fun even though I never finished them.
Also if they ever made a Jack and Dexters 4 that would be epic and I would buy it immediately!🙌
Jak and Daxter is legitimately my favorite game series of all time, and I'm sad I haven't seen anything new
Jak & Daxter could go the Zelda BOTW or TOTK route, that would be awesome
Listening to this as I made dinner and I get to the "Jak 2 is one of the most difficult games" part and I'm like what? The game was challenging but I 100% that game as a kid.
Jak and Daxter is my favorite game franchise ever. I’ve played them each dozens of times
I think now could be a great time to revamp the series. We have so much high tech, challenging games at the moment, this would be refreshing
One of my all time favourite game series. I grew up on these
I still have my Playstation Magazine with the cover showing Ratchet and Jack facing off.
I’m a Nintendo guy and Zelda fan first in gaming but Jak and Daxter gives me that special creative feel similar to Nintendo so I’d be happy to revisit in a remaster collection and a new entry just like another forgotten game…Megaman Legends 3.
Jak and dexter 3 was the first one I played. I loved it. 1st game I got all the unlockable and secrets
The jak and daxter series is a large part of my childhood and i loved every game in it. Yes that includes lost frontier. Just like ratchet and clank if they make a new game for the jak and daxter franchise im going to buy and play it if only for nostalgia.
This was my childhood. Me and my sister played Spyro and the first Kingdom Heart's. Me and my cousin played Sly Cooper, Giant Citizen, Kinetica, and Jak and Daxter. Man I miss late 90s and early 2000s.
