What an absolute wonder. The young man is excellent, and it is fascinating to hear Chaim Taub's words of wisdom for him after playing the piece. Then, Leia. This is something very special indeed. How many 10 year olds can play that good? And how many 10 year olds can master Paganini with such skill and passion? At the end of her performance I was waiting to hear what words of advice or wisdom Chaim Taub would offer her, but instead he appears genuinely gobsmacked at the brilliance of her performance, and gives her the greatest compliment I've ever heard given to a young musician by a musician of his calibre. This is astoundingly beautiful to watch.
sooo glad someone on Leias page alerted us to the full performance here. I honestly had tears hearing the comments after her performance! She is indeed very special!
I think this wonderful performance needs to be edited and put on Leia's UA-cam site along with the comments, so all can see the progress since she performed in greece. At the moment you have to hunt around to find this and I nearly missed it because she was on second. I have seen most of her online performances now and I believe this is her finest to date. Bravo
I agree one million percent. This is a stunning performance. Leia may only be 10 years old, but put a violin in her hands and it's like her ages doubles. I would so love to go to see Leia perform live at one of her concerts.
In addition to dropping lots of notes, Mr Rahmedov appears to be oblivious to the soloist. As Ida Haendel said, "you cannot be inspired if the conductor is an imbecile." Mr Chung deserved a better accompanist. In any case, bravo to the soloist.
Taub is way too pedantic and opinionated. All he has to do is tell the players to listen very closely to how they sound and if they are satisfied, they are satisfied. Heifetz (the best fiddler who ever lived) followed his own intuition and that was more than good enough. He didn't need anyone telling him when to vibrato or play piano or forte or anything else. Violin playing is not about mass production. Art has to be individualistic. Stern said it best, "play the way you would sing it."
Where do they find these accompanists? At 49:05, Ms Lakernik makes a bad entrance and spoils the whole thing. Shame. Can't she read music? Ms Zhu carries bravely on like a true professional. That's why she now has Representation with a top agency.

Ms Zhu plays the Sauret cadenza which is pretty difficult - so I've heard. BRAVO!!!!
