The oboe is beautifully played and provides the support the soloist needs for the beautiful passages he delivers. This is a collaboration of so many musicians, their teachers, the countless instrument makers, all the technical support and let us not forget dear old Brahms.
So good. What I love about Augustin is that he doesn't make things overly dramatic just to show off, instead he plays in a way that works best for the music, even if it's less showy.
Fantastic playing and nothing more to add than many have already said. Beautiful sound, never pressed and musically very focus, never too much nor too little. I've heard many violinist who use this concert to break the violin in half and make every possible rallentando even more exaggerated. This guy plays dramatic and yet elegant, pure sound without forcing and yet a big sound too. Bravissimo!
Mr. Hadelich is absolutely an extraordinary violinist of our time. Great leading Konzertmeister, and WDR Symphonie Orchester is one of the best of course 🇩🇪 Bravi Tutti! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The concertmaster is spectacular, too! But my goodness, Augustin, never heard of him before yesterday on The Classical Station playing new recording of Dvorak Violin Concerto. My new favorite violinist!!!
You need to find the youtube video of him playing the Paganini Concerto with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It was recorded I believe in Jan 2020. Unbelievable playing....The audience gave him a very appropriate round of applause after the first movement!!! Then wait for the audience's final thundering applause at the concertos end!!!!

Heard Hadelich play amazing performance of Brahms in Strasbourg the other day. Every note beautiful and focussed. Even in arpeggios each note clear and projected above full orchestral accompaniment. Fantastic musicianship, gorgeous sound, impeccable intonation, communication to the audience of the beauty of this piece.
Just loving his cadenza...listened to his previous recording with Strad many times, and now this with Leduc. This is an early recording with Leduc for him, and more recent recordings resemble human voices giving me goose bumps sometimes! It was such a privilege to listen to him play Brahms in Australia this year.
Outstanding! I love how Hadelich controlled his bowing, and played his own cadenza. How he phrased the passages and dynamics were incredible. The orchestra did excellent work, building up the tension and created unbelievably beautiful harmonies. They sounded almost so shimmery to me, and I live for it. Brava!
The same happens with the audience from his youtube recording of the Paganini Concerto with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The audience gave him a very appropriate burst of applause after the first movement. But wait for the thunderous applause at the concertos end!! Possibly the best recording of this concerto on record.
We saw this young man play this last night in Bradford (UK) with the Halle orchestra in a less than half full hall. One of the most wonderful performances I have ever seen, simply masterful in every way. Thanks Augustine, only wish you could have performed to an audience you deserve.
That orchestra is AWESOME! It sounds like it and he have been performing together for years. The timing, pacing, and clarity of the passages were done well. There were musical moments between the soloist and the orchestra that I've never heard in other live performances. Real treat.
Thanky for your kind words! We're very happy to have Augustin Hadelich with us regularly - we also just recorded a CD together to be released next year :)
