    I love the current location block! It reminds me of all the times when we were full-timers I woke up in our RV and couldn't remember AT ALL where we were - WalMart parking lot in Florida? Winery in Maine? Campground in Wisconsin? Mom's driveway? I played a little game with myself that I wouldn't get up to check until I could remember. It was so disorienting and odd and I totally miss it. 😊

    Hi Kayln, I love the way you teach about Notion. It makes everything so easy to understand. I have created a weekly cleaning database based on zones that get attention each day of the week. I am wanting to create a little spot on my dashboard that will show me only one day at a time (because I check the dash daily) so I know what I need to clean that day, but I can't figure out how to filter it correctly to only show Monday's zone on Mon and Tuesday's on Tue, etc. Something similar to your "This Week" block, I would imagine. Any insight on how one might do that? I'm not sure if formulas need to be involved or what. I have a template set up for each day that is set to recur on set weekdays. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm definitely missing something. If you could help me figure it out I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks

    • @KalynBrookeCo
      @KalynBrookeCo  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi Martha! I'm so glad you are enjoying these videos! I love the idea of a cleaning zone popping into your daily dash.
      One way you could do this (that would probably be the easiest) is to add a Date is Today formula to your database. Add a Formula property, rename "Date is Today", and copy and paste the formula below.
      formatDate(prop("Date"), "L") == formatDate(now(), "L")
      Just replace the "Date" portion with the name of the Date property in your database. If you don't have a Date property yet, you'll need to add one and tell your template to add Today's date when duplicated. (Click into your template, click the empty section to the right of the Date property and select "Today Date When Duplicated".)
      Then, you'll filter that database to show only when "Date is Today" is checked.
      So every day, your template will duplicate for that day's cleaning task with today's date AND it will pop up under your section in your daily dashboard.
      Let me know if that works for you!

    • @marthamcgiver
      @marthamcgiver 10 місяців тому

      @@KalynBrookeCo Ok, so the set up went just fine and worked like a charm BUT ... now it's showing all the times it's already replicated itself (since I had set this up originally last week). How do I limit that to only the current day? Man, there's sooooo much to learn in Notion. I'm so glad there are helpful people like you to lead the way.

    • @marthamcgiver
      @marthamcgiver 10 місяців тому

      Umm.... I may have actually solved that problem myself when I realized that I had initially created entries for each day during set up before I created the templates. I think that's what was showing because when I deleted them I was left with only the template entry for today. HOORAY! *crossing my fingers I'm right*
      Thanks again.😊

    Just curious about how, exactly, you track your work time. I have 2 small businesses and would love to efficiently keep track of how much time I'm spending when I'm "at work" since I work from home. I would love to see how you do this.

    • @KalynBrookeCo
      @KalynBrookeCo  10 місяців тому +1

      I use the app ATracker and love it! You can see it in my line up of favorite apps here: ua-cam.com/video/gvfUuFk9g0Q/v-deo.html You can set up the different aspects of your work or assign one category to each business. I split mine into Office Hours (admin stuff), Blog Content, UA-cam, Education, Email Marketing, and Content Offers (resources that I create). Then you can just open up the app and tap on the category to start the timer. Sometimes I forget to tap, but you can always adjust the start time to compensate for the missed minutes. It has been so helpful in keeping me focused because I'm "on the clock". I can also see if I've met my 30 hour/week work goal. If not, I know I'm getting distracted somewhere! Hope that helps!

    • @KalynBrookeCo
      @KalynBrookeCo  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi! All you have to do is right-click on the tab, click Rename, and then add an asterisk (*) as your text. Notion won’t let you leave the tab blank, but an asterisk solves that problem and everything still looks aesthetically pleasing. Someone also has said you could try to just hit the space bar instead of adding the asterisk and get away without naming!
      Let me know if try either of these and it works!

      @@KalynBrookeCo they both worked! Thanks so much! I also discovered if you are doing buttons, you can leave those completely blank, no space or * and it will work. I love how it makes everything look much cleaner, especially since I like to use my tablet and my phone as well and not just strictly my computer, so making the layout as minimal but as functional as possible is important to me.

      It's super easy! When you click to rename the tab, just add an asterisk (*) instead of text. You can't leave it empty, but the minimal asterisk really allows the icon to shine!
