I love the black & gold theme of Adore. Shows the band "maturation".....after the massive success of Siamese Dream and Mellon, Adore had the somber mature feeling as the 90s were ending and the band was changing, and general musical tastes were changing. Adore is a fantastic album and Ava Adore is one of the best songs on it
Music tastes certainly were changing in those days. It was going from actual musicians playing real instruments to digitally generated beats, synth instruments, and quantizing and autotuning vocals during post production. Smashing Pumpkins was one of the last great bands that created real artistic music with soul. Today record companies don't care about talent. They can make anyone seem talented with studio software. They know most people who buy music are non musicians who have no clue the singer they are listening to cannot carry a tune if they used a forklift and the drum beat is either computer generated or has been quantized in the studio. It's sad and pathetic, but we live in a world where accumulating that almighty dollar is everyone's preoccupation.
@@JohnHWelch63 yeah Corgan is a creative genius, how he made all these amazing high quality songs with so much passion. and to be leading the other band members, its a huge task. Adore was a much diff album than the previous, but it had its own style
@@JohnHWelch63 i dunno, man, if you keep up with what's happening in music, there are endless bands rocking with all the passion, merit, and talent as 90s-era pumpkins. there was just as much trash then as there is now.
Billy Corgan FOREVER rocks my world... this is my fave Pumpkins song ever. Billy is a musical genius, and the most down to earth kindest person you could ever meet
They always were one of the tightest bands live but this particular time they were in the zone. As a guitarist who has been member of a few bands, I can tell you there is nothing that feels quite as awesome as when you play a song and the whole band just gels perfectly. You get into that groove and don't want the song to end. Sometimes we would just keep jamming for a while instead of doing to usual outro and ending the song.
@@염동교-p5qQuite possibly THE best band of the 90s. I never liked the fact that Nirvana was always touted as the greatest band in the 90s. Nonsense! Nirvana were certainly no slouches, but Smashing Pumpkins is the superior band of the two in every aspect, musicianship, technical ability, and artistic value. The Pumpkins are nothing short of musical genius!
me gusta cuando un poderoso tema en estudio la banda, en vivo le pone mas power y con nuevos arreglos la hace aun mas grande..!!! la banda completa fantastica ...Kenny Aronoff...excelente ..!!!
Yeah have been there as well...18 years and gone there with a bunch of friends and LOTS of beer.. ;) Remember the HEAVY rain setting in during Rammsteins performance with like 10.000 ppl left with Ozzy performing the last act Sunday night? ;) Damn we were SOAKING wet...
Greetings I share the cover I made of this song, I hope you like it and support my channel thanks #Rocker 🤘🏻👊🏻🤘🏻👊🏻 ua-cam.com/video/LOmX_ufxmKw/v-deo.html

The song is played excellently, but they look like they could all kill eachother after the show, makes me wonder if at point tensions in the band were pretty high..
D'Arcy - "maybe I will try to overcome my stage fright and play with the Pumpkins again. I'll just read some UA-cam comments first for encouragement." *curls up in corner* "Nope nope nope nope"
Apparently james struggled for a long time learning parts in studio, quickly....same with Darcy. The difference between darcy and james was that once james learned them he was fantastic. Darcy really ended up being a place filler.
Place filler for what? She was a decent bassist. I don't think the ones that came after her were as good. Imo they had the best live sound in the original formation.
darcy's mistake at 1:00 lmao .... makes me wonder if she did it on purpose to piss off billy. It's not that hard to find the second fret... unless she was stoned or drunk
How do I get the sound of the main riff that Billy plays? I mean, what pedals give me that sound? I'm deciding whether to buy the Nano big muff, but I don't know if the Op amp gives me a sound more similar to that of these presentations of the 98

3:08 8 seconds guitar riff I could never stop listen.
crazy... cuz I always back and forth the same spot - first time that I saw someone quoting the same....
This is by far my favorite performance of this song.
Miss seeing D'Arcy and Billy on stage together
Good ol‘times! Crazy crowd, no cell phones, just Rock‘nRoll! Peace and Prost! 🍻
THIS STILL rocks!!!!!!
Definitely the best live version of this song, because I still prefer the studio version!!

Incredible song about the different types of Love....Smashing and Billy had some genius zen moments in their song writing career. This was on top
smashing pumpkins is a perfect band of the world 🖤
The only band with one of a kind badass sound
My god what a live! I even like this version more than the original! Love Smashing Pumpkins
It's good because James is saving it with his fills I'm sorry
I always like that James Iha's short guitar riff, it's a beauty
Outta nowhere, here and gone, and it totally makes the song.
great track im starting to discover Smashing Pumpkins awesome band
This more rock version is badass!
This video needed a few more jump cuts.
💀
Ikr almost make it unwatchable
Facts clearly not enough what were they doing smh

He is so beautiful
Billy's voice is so good here
wall of sound, impressive live gig !!
thanks for uploading! what a smashing memory...
Just a kick ass song
Awesome!
a lot better than the album version
When I heard them do this in concert live in 98 I was blown away. I thought why didn't they make it this way on the album!
Love it
Darcy's bass tone hits like a pile of bricks at 0:37, TIGHT EQ!!
yeah but some serious clams in the beginning, yikes!!!
man no band today can match the energy and the vibe of the bands in the 90s....maybe bands like Turnstile and Idles come close
Yeah have been there as well...18 years and gone there with a bunch of friends and LOTS of beer.. ;)

D'Arcy looks amazing
Yes
D'arcy was so drugged up during this performance...
It's you that I adore
You'll always be my whore
You'll be a mother to my child
And a child to my heart
We must never be apart
We must never be apart
Lovely girl, you're the beauty in my world
Without you, there are no reasons left to find
And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
You'll be a lover in my bed
And a gun to my head
We must never be apart
We must never be apart
Lovely girl, you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls I've left to die
Drinking mercury to the mystery
Of all that you should ever leave behind
In time
In you, I see dirty
In you, I count stars
In you, I feel so pretty
In you, I taste God
In you, I feel so hungry
In you, I crash cars
We must never be apart
I'm drinking mercury
To the mystery
Of all that you should ever seek to find
Lovely girl, you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls I've left behind
In time
We must never be apart
And you'll always be my whore
'Cause you're the one that I adore
And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
In you, I feel so dirty
In you, I crash cars
In you, I feel so pretty
In you, I taste god
(Ah, ah, ah, ah)
We must never be apart (ah, ah, ah)

Gosh! How I miss the 90-ies and all this alternative scene - Smashing pumpkins, Nirvana , Pixies. Even rap bands were better :)

Paul Shaffer killing it on drums.
I’m assuming you’re joking but that’s Kenny Arnoff who’s played with both John Mellencamp And John Fogerty.
