Thank you, Gale! It does have the shape of an old radio cabinet. The inside is what was throwing me off. Most of the old radio cabinets I have worked on had a lot of the stuff built in and this one had that shelf in the middle so I wasn’t sure how it could have been set up. I really wish I could go back in time and see the piece in its original glory.
This is beautiful, Taryn! It has a magical dreamy feel, like opening the doors opens into another place. It’s truly an elegant upgrade. Lucas is so funny and adorable. I just cracked up watching him copy you.🌸
Blending takes a minute to get comfortable with, but I’m telling you, once you get the feel for it, ITS SO EASY!!! I think my biggest problem when I first started was just being in my own head too much. Now I just relax and enjoy the process. Plus, this was an easy one with those two colors being so close. All that to say- you can totally do it, Leslie!!!
You probably already have a grandma, Taryn but I would love to adopt you! You are such a beautiful (inside and out) and talented young woman! I love all your pieces and I really love your very artistic approach. Also, your knowledge of woodworking is admirable. Has anyone else noticed the resemblance between you and the young lady in the decoupage paper? Thanks for your hard work in making this video!
I do, Nancy, but thank you!!! I think that’s just about one of the best compliments ever 🥰 And the girl in the photo is my best friend. She models for me all the time and most people think we are sisters when we are out and about together so it makes sense that you think she looks like me.
I really like how you use neutral colors to set the background for your image. And then, highlight the decorative elements with gilding wax. This is such a nice effect and creates a very beautiful conversation piece.
Thanks, Richard! It was just a really fun piece to work on. I let it decide what was going to happen. Sometimes it’s nice having these small guys to play around with.
Isn’t it so fun?! I just had to pick it up! I’ve only seen those lines and shapes on the older tall stereo cabinets. This little guy was the perfect side table/ nightstand size. Thank you, Debbie!
That’s one of the decoupage papers you made!! I almost got that one but opted for a different lighter colored one. If I ever find a perfect piece like you did then maybe I’ll order it as well some day. I love the little boy with the Lion too. Hell, i love them all!! But that is just perfect!! Perfect perfect perfect!! Thanks for the bonus of you and your little man, Lucas. Just warmed my heart ❤️
Yes! It’s my best friend with a bear from the local zoo. (Taken separately of course 😂) Thank you, Lizza!!! And Lucas was being quite the funny guy this time, I was trying not to laugh.
Thank you so much for amazing content. I absolutely love watching you paint. I love the way you blend your paint on pieces and the way that you blend around the papers you use on your furniture. Just stunning work, Thank-you for sharing your gift with us
I feel like I got so lucky with this one! I’ve not seen something so detailed on such a small frame. They are always on the larger pieces. I’ll pass along the hello!
Me too, Vera!!! Thank you so much! The snow and the markets have really set back my furniture schedule, but hopefully when everything settles down a bit I can get back to my old ways.
WOW! WOW! WOWZA! It Looks Absolutely Gorgeous ❤️❤️ IT Taryn. Your blending is just Brilliant 👍And boy Such a great price Too !👍 Boy your Son is So cute and those hand signs 🤣 Can’t Wait for your Nxt video Have an Awesome day 😊

Thank you so much, Lorraine! And I’ll have to keep you posted as far as the listing and sale goes. I’m letting the wax sit for a bit before I list it in Etsy. I doubt it will go quickly, but just in case I like the finish to be cured up a bit before shipping.
Taryn wowza! I always love your work but this is a new level of beautiful! Could literally watch you blend all day 😍 People who don't use coasters are bloody savages 🤣 Awesome score on the price, I bet this sells very quickly.

hey there! your work as usual is beautiful. in the video you said you use poly then wax…how long do you wait in between coats? and how long does it take too cure?

That’s exactly how I saw it! They just looked like mini Narnia doors or something! I’m just too big to fit through 😂
Absolutely WOW! Some day, I hope I can do this even half as good as you do! I’m not as good at colors as you are. And blending still has me spinning!

Everything blended so well together, love all the waxes.
Yeah, those colors were so close they practically blended themselves. I love when that happens 😂
I love the fact you use the word “proud”. No one says that anymore and it’s so beautiful to hear it used properly. Sorry. Language nerd here.
Haha, thanks, Jacquie. And also, thank you for taking the time to leave several comments and watch the video. I really appreciate it.

I wish I had the vision you have. It is an incredible piece, Taryn. Did you say you put the peacock wax on the top over the walnut-stained wood?

beautiful
Thank you!
I liked everything about it except the decoupage paper. Really wish you went with a Moroccan style stencil since the detailing on the front had a Moroccan feel on the outside and inside of the doors.
I’m not the biggest fan of Moroccan style stencils so you probably won’t see much of it here. But I’m sure you could come up with a brilliantly done piece with a similar color pallet!

Not really. I was a makeup artist back in the day and I think that has helped me greatly with color theory.
S that your telephone on your ear or do you se t music to downloads?

Canyon use wallpaper as a decoupage sheet?
Absolutely! I use wallpaper all the time for decoupage!
You are amazing...how much could/did you get paid for the finished piece?

Do you use a dry brush when blending? Or just paint the colors together until you have what you want?
I do all the things, Gaynette. For this one the colors were so similar I didn’t need a blank blending brush. I just used the individual ones for each paint color. I wasn’t worried about contaminating them. I’ll use a blank brush for when I’m working on a harder blend and I don’t want to muddy up my brushes because the colors are a bit farther away from each other in color or shade. I hope that made sense.
@@elegantupgrades it makes a lot of sense and provides just the clarification I need. Thanks a bunch!!
