    I am a hard of hearing / practically deaf without my hearing aids actor .. and before seeing the videos.. before watching the interviews and the songs and seeing Josh sign during them.. I wanted to give up on my dream of acting. I won't back down now. My dream will come true
    edit: update for everyone! I am not giving up on acting, but have made a career out of voice acting. At the same time I am about to fly over to the UK for a theatre school as a major in Costuming for film and stage! normally i wouldn't do something like this, but there has been so much positivity, so thank you everyone!

    I love thinking about this and how this whole song is in Quasimodo’s head, so if he’s literally deaf he’s singing to the gargoyles and making the gargoyles sing to him just in his mind. The sign language just really brings that out to me and I absolutely love it!

      I love the idea of Quasimodo using sign language to communicate his emotions it is so cool! I love him using sign language in general for anything really. It is so nice to see. Because not a lot of Disney characters use it. I think Quasimodo being deaf is a cool aspect to because honestly if I were the bell ringer of Notre Dame I would be deaf. And it’s very realistic to how your ears can get damaged from loud noises. and having a deaf protagonist also represents other people with disabilities and that they can do things too. That’s a nice touch to the character as well.

      quasi, there LIE ALL I have ever loved! brakes down sobbing AS he collapsed to the ground, holding Esmeralda in his arms, he buried his face in her shoulder as he cries audibly but SOFTLY. He holds his friend tightly in his arms well clutching her close to his chest. Gargoyle with no arms begins to sing. I am a man who loves to sing music at the wrong time of day this is exactly my opportunity to sing and I’m gonna brighten the mood because Quasimodo has darkened it. It is very painful. I will sing until my heart is content because I was singing gargoyle who sings and talks and dances. I Will always be a singing beast for eternity.
      Gargoyle comes close to Quasimoto and begins to tap dance near his ear. he will not stop tap dancing and singing. Quasimodo gets annoyed and throws the gargoyle across the room. Gargoyle, why did you do this to me. Why? I think you’re a monster! Gargoyle TURNS and runs out of the room leaving the bell ringer and annoyed emotional mess.

    • @theenergetichopecat7006
      @theenergetichopecat7006 2 роки тому

      Esmeralda remains apparently dead. Quasimodo begins to cry really really really hard attracting the unwanted attention of the armless gargoyle. Who hears the man crying and runs into the room. Monster! The gargoyle shouts. Monster! He shouts again no stop crying I don’t like the sound of it! The armless beast protests. He runs up to a stone parapet and sits down on it and begins to ring the bells. Since you will not ring the bells my humble man I will he shouts! I will! The gargoyle repeats to make sure he heard. He starts to ring the bells and continues to ring them for a long long while in hopes that Quasimodo will calm down. But the bell ringer is in a fit of rage and hysterical crying. And he refuses to stop. The gargoyle begins to scream. Looking at the bell ringer he screams, you, Bell ringer, stop your screaming! I do not like hearing people cry. The gargoyle shouts. I will go get CLOPPIN and PHOEBUS, and they will console you until you stop your screams of agonizing sorrow! The beast shout this while he stomps his foot on the ground on the word sorrow. PHOEBUS along with CLOPPIN come into the room to hear a lot of screaming and crying. The gargoyle is telling Quasimodo some things about Esmeralda and wife Rollo decided to kill her. The two men realize what’s going on and run towards Quasimodo. They both put their arms around him who is holding Esmeralda, the two men begin to rub the man’s shoulders and begin to sing quietly to him. And the gargoyle faints.

      It is very cool that Quasimodo uses sign language. I don’t think a lot of Disney characters use it. And I think Quasimodo is going to be the first Disney protagonist to use sign language and it’s so fun to watch. Because not only is he talking he’s also signing the lyrics of a song to prove a point. I think if there’s going to be a live action remake of this musical movie Quasimodo should be using sign language because he should be the one to communicate his thoughts with sign language as a way to cope when he’s going emotionally insane so that’s what I think.

    in the book Quasimodo is deaf partially from the bells and partially from his swollen ear. I wish i could see this. Its very powerful after reading the book and watching the animated versions as he does yearn to be with others but the only one who can communicate with him is frollo as he and quasi use their own kind of signals to talk in the book. these performances are very moving as it really drives home how scared the world was of him but also how scared of the world and of himself that quasi felt in all adaptions.

      I understand completely, I have progressive hearing loss, so learning sign language is a major interest to me. I might get either surgery or a hearing aid to help with that, but I still want to learn more signs. And when I do want to learn a new sign, I go to my mom for that, as she used to work at a deaf school. So yea, I understand the feeling of lacking hearing.

    Holy crap this is phenomenal! Kudos to all the actors for their ability to sing and perform ASL at the same time, but especially kudos to the actor that played Quasimodo and the actor that sung his lines. The actor that played Quasimodo did such a phenomenal job of waving ASL into his gut-wrenching performance, and you can really feel his pain. My God, I just want to hug him. The gargoyle singer that sung for Quasimodo did an exceptional job too, the sheer range of his voice and how he was able to really capture Quasimodo's pain... I can't. This is incredible. I am hard-of-hearing myself though I do not know sign language. It makes me really happy to see HoH/deaf representation in theater like this!
