Here’s something to note about Star Godzilla. Hong Kong did not have a special effects industry at the time. So if it were to come out, it probably would’ve looked absolutely horrible.
I really do appreciate you doing these types of videos because nobody talks about these unmade films anymore and I just wanna know so bad about them. they're very cool in their own right. For example, GHOST GODZILLA? Who thinks of that? that's so cool! A ghost version of godzilla! Neat! So yeah i really like this kind of stuff, it's interesting.
I wonder if in Justice League vs Godzilla vs King Kong vs Jason Vs Freddy…wait…i wonder if they will make a nod to Batman trying send Godzilla off in a rocket.
Seeing how you mentioned "Space Warriors 2000," I'm disappointed we never got to see a Sompote Sands "Godzilla Vs Hanuman" movie. Since he "owned" (falsely) the rights to Ultraman and Kamen Rider too, it would have been like an expanded version of the Shin Japan Heroes Project.
Out of all of these, the Godzilla 2000 sequel is the one I wish could have become a reality. That cast and Joe Dante's involvement alone piqued my interest. It could have also been an opportunity to prove that mostly practical effects still had a place in Hollywood.
I find it interesting that Toho thought a 20 million dollar budget for Godzilla reborn was too low. Where none of their films even was close to that budget until Final Wars popped its head up. Sometimes it just feels like Toho just sees dollar signs when they see an American company interested in Godzilla. They ask for far too much money and end up hurting the project along the way. At least it was that way in the last 90's and early 2000's. Now I think the Monsterverse has opened their eyes to keeping a series alive and well and not try to gouge the makers too deeply for their characters.
Unfortunately toho seems to do well when it's America handling godzilla but are too reluctant to have their own Japanese godzilla be characters with emotions and face expressions. Luckily godzilla-1 seems to be the first reiwa godzilla to actually feel alive and mobile instead of walking very slowly and just copying the shin gojira formula for a 3rd time. I like shin but it was a 1 and done thing, earth and ultima didn't have to copy shin
