- Here you will find a demonstration of how to easily install TSL Patcher mods for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on the Android platform. The video demonstrates the mods on a Shield Android TV, but they should work on any Android device.

The trick at the beginning of this video made it possible for me to download TSL mods to an external hard drive where I keep my Steam games. The installer run through CrossOver on my Mac couldn't find the drive--but moving my override folder to the desktop and making the dummy dialog file did the trick. Thanks!

if you don't have a computer and you want to do this. You can get linux on your tablet and then follow the instruction on this video. it's not hard to do. I'm trying it now so i'm not sure if it works yet, but from what i read about running excutables using this method, i see no reason it shouldn't.
That would be something if you can get it to work. Let me know what happens.
For anyone stuck at the Text Document Creation part or get the Error that your KOTOR Folder doesn't have the correct dialog document, make sure when you go to save your Text Document that under the "Save As Type" Option you select "All Files" instead of "Text Document (*.txt)" this is how I got it to create the actual TLK File and Not the incorrect TXT File.

Kota, I plan on finishing Jedi Outcast then playing Jedi Academy. I won't go backwards and play the Dark Forces games. They aren't on Android.

Did you solve this? Make sure it's a .tlk extension and make sure it's in the right folder.

if your having trouble with windows being uncooperative changing file formats like i had you can find another .tlk file and copy it + rename it to "dialog.t;l" for the purposes of this
did android stop letting you access game files? I can't find my kotor game data on my new phone where I used to find it on my s10.

Does audio soundset mods work for Android that uses "Streamsounds" file?
Unfortunately no. Some people have reported success in converting the audio files to something android will understand. I'm short on details, though, and have never done it myself.

Hey so I've got the Jedi from the Start mod, and a folder named KOTOR on my desktop with a dialog.tlk file inside it. However, when I select the KOTOR folder, it gives me an error box with the message "An error occurred! Type mismatch. Specified file is not a valid TLK file! (TLK)" Any ideas?

If you're using the latest version, you can just place the modules and override folders (from the manual installation section) into the com.aspyr.swkotor/files folder and it should work.

I'm not sure about older versions of KOTOR for Android but the latest version has a dialog.tlk file inside the main OBB so this is unnecessary
Hey man, so I just finished everything in the other video and it is currently copying over back to my phone and it actually looks all right, no mistakes so far. I have KOTOR restro mod and this mod (Jedi from the Start), they are both copying back over to my phone patched etc.. so my question is will they work together?
Your older video may be outdated but personally I found that one easier and a lot simpler (I am FAR from being a tech wiz, I literally need a "complete idiot's guide" for everything related to tech..
If the other video ends up actually not working I will try this one instead.

Oh, and Jedi from the Start will work fine with KOTOR Restoration. If you have any weirdness between leaving the Endar Spire and getting to Taris, there is a "cutscene" fix that you might need. If, on the other hand, it all works fine, you are good to go.
You can try to run TSL patcher on exagear (Windows emulator on the phone) and download with it mod? GENERALLY without pc
So basically you are only using your PC to install the mod and then move the Override folder (or just the contents if you already have said folder) to your Android KotOR directory?

I built my own desktop. There are many tutorials on how to do so on youtube, if you're interested. Once you build one you'll never go back to buying them in a store.

i have a modules, lips, and override folder. should i put all of the files to the kotor directory on my phone or just the override?
The modules folder goes next to the override folder. It's for new locations added in by the mod. Lips folder? I'm not so sure about that.

You can try exagear emulator in 2022 .

Exagear can be slow and annoying and copying the files you want from the emulator to the phone will be very slow and incredibly tidious but if the tsl patcher is 32 bit, it should work.
I haven't tried this and I won't because I have laptop access currently but maybe one day I will
I just found a method to use the TSL patcher in android with the exagear app that emulates .exe files and I have been able to install several mods, I don't know if you already knew this app, in case you know it, there is a way to use the KSE with exagear ??

How do you know whether or not it needs to be tslpatched? The pc response moderation for instance. How do I get that to work?
Take a look at the installation directions of the mod. If you have to click a .exe file, it's using tslpatcher.
For pc response moderation it says "Unpack the dialog.tlk file into the main KotOR directory. When asked to overwrite the original, select yes", leading me to believe it is only changing that one file. That said, it's not a typical "put it in the override folder mod", so I'm not sure if it will work.
@@negative_zero tried it on mobile. Didn't even give me an option to overwrite and corrupted the obb. Had to reinstall. Can confirm it doesn't work unless it was the manager I was using.

If you are trying to install a mod that uses tsl patcher without a pc, there is a strong possibility it won't work. That said, it MIGHT work if it won't conflict with any other mods you are using and you're lucky. To try, put the files in the tslpatchdata into the override folder. The source files are not for your use, don't do anything with them.
Will this work for mods that have audio files that need to be installed?
Mods with audio files won't play on Android. The operating system just does audio differently.

There has been talk that converting the audio files to mp3 will work for Android, but its not something I've ever tried. Kotor 2 is a mess and I've barely touched it, so I can't help you there.

I keep running into errors through tsl, even using the candrous dialog.tlk. For instance the yavin 4 mod, BOS, and redeeming yuthra. They all have errors.
Are you using multiple mods at once? Did you install on a pc then copy the folders over to your android device?
Yeah i have installed on the pc, but i cant get the game to run at all. Fortunately i also have it on my android phone. However the tsl patcher just does not work. For kotor 1 or 2. The weird thing is it does seem to be copying the files into modules and overide, but for some of the mod the game doesnt seem to register that ive put anything into those folder( mosty kotor 2) With the yavin 4 mod, using the tsl patcher, it got about 8 errors when it tried to copy files into modules, same with the restored content mod for kotor one. Im at the point where first meeting jolee, and becuase it hasnt installed the modules properly im just stuck on a frozen cutscene.
I kinda want to just delete all my mods and start again. but im not sure what folders i should delete things from.

I meant when I Load up Installer.exe it says "Cannot Locate The INI file "change.ini" with working instructions"
Then it says Unable to load instructions text! Make sure the " tslpatchdata" folder containing the "info.rtf" file is located in the same folder as this application

The tslpatcher mods? Unfortunately it's just not possible at this point. The only way would be if someone made an Android version of the tslpatcher application. I don't see that happening with a 15 year old game, but I would love to be wrong.

@@negative_zero man, i have a mod that adds new sith clas (replace original jedi classes), so i have all files for android but i dont know where i need to put dialog.tlk (because there is three dialog.tlk and they all different)

In all my KOTOR playthroughs I have never finished a dark side run. I just don't have it in me to be the jerk required.
paths, there's not much different about the dark side versus the light side play throughs oher than being an unbelievable douchebag and electing to choose the dark side during the confrontation with Bastila in the Rakatan temple. Even the Star Forge level and final confrontation with Malak are the same. The only significant difference is the ending scenes that show either the Republic fleet destroying the Star Forge or the Sith fleet crushing the Republic fleet.

Some mods include the original dialog.tlk file in their backup folders. If you download one of those and just take that file, your set. It'll require some searching, though.

Hi Cord, this video is about not having to own kotor on pc because tsl patcher mods (a specific type of mod for kotor) often edit specific files instead of just overwriting them. The magic of tsl patcher is that it allows multiple mods to edit the same file - for example the dialog.tlk file - without conflicting with each other. This is only possible on pc, since all kotor mods as well as the tsl patcher application itself were designed for pc users. This video is about how to find and edit those files without owning the pc version of the game.
However, it is quite simple to mod kotor on android without a pc at all because there are many mods that do not use tsl patcher. If you're interested, this video explains how to do what you're trying to do:
