Twenty years later, it IS worth playing, but I am still rather concerned about the remake. It must be out soon, and a worthy successor to the first game that will set up the sequel.
KOTOR 1&2, Republic commando, The original battlefronts and Force Unleashed are some of my favorite games. Fallen order and Survivor made that list now too.
Played this game as a kid when it first came out and played it about 4 more times in the past 20 years just to bring that nostalgia back. Love this game so much as it holds a place in mind when times were simpler. I’ll always root for this game and hope they revive it through a remake or even a movie (as long as KK doesn’t touch it). One of my favorite games of all time!
And Jedi Knight 1 and 2, and X-wing vs Tie Fighter. There were so many greats, it seems like the more modern Star Wars gets the worse it gets though, I remember X-wing vs Tie Fighter being the best flight sim due to the 1st person perspective where you got to look around the cockpit, as a kid it made me feel like I was really in the action. That, and your ship wasn't overpowered. You were as weak as everyone else which really brought you into the action.
Yes, the answer is always yes, also i'd recommend the mobile version, tho be aware sometimes the audio just.. cuts out for a while but if you played on classic xbox there's a chance you already ran into that issue
@@michaelandreipalon359 Oh yes, the mobile ports are really well done, they run excellent even on lower end phones I haven't got to try the switch port, but I did here the controls were kinda wack and it liked to just stop working, but i'll find out soon enough cause i'll probably buy it just to see
Truthfully, my favorite personal experience in all of Star Wars came to me while playing this game for the first time, at ten years old. I was on Rakata Prime, nearing the end of the game. As I fought through all of the sith and droids in the ancient temple, I was simultaneously looking back upon my journey and how I got to where I was in the game, remembering places such as bustling Taris and grim Korriban. After I had killed all of the bad guys in the temple, I made my way to the top. Once I reached it, a familiar, beautiful soundtrack played. It was Bastila Shan’s theme from way back on Taris. This hearing of such an angelic and nostalgic song, here, at the end of my journey, was too much me. I started crying tears of not sorrow, but of nostalgia and happiness. It was such an impactful moment for me that whenever I replay the game and get to the top of that temple, I tear up a little. KotOR truly is the best game ever made in my eyes, and words can’t describe how hyped I am for the remake 😁
That is amazing. I wish I could share that memory with you. I've always loved the Star Wars world and am so sad I never got to play this. I think I'm a little too old and busy now to embark on a massive RPG adventure like the one in KOTOR. But man do I really really want to.
@@MGSVxBreakpoint It's never too late. It's a fun game to play even in a more casual manner. Doesn't matter how long it takes to finish, it's the journey that counts. Plus, as someone who recently decided to give this game a chance after around 15 years of neglect, I feel like an idiot for missing out on one of if not the best Star wars experiences of my life.
It is difficult to explain exactly, but for me, my favorite experience in KOTOR is the feeling of sanctuary and freedom that I feel in the Ebon Hawk. It is more than a ship, it is a companion that provides a sense of security and respite from the ordeals encountered on hostile worlds. The takeoff and landing sequences for each world set the tone for the coming struggle or reward a hard fought milestone punctuating your success over each chapters challenges. The Ebon Hawk is more than a ship, it is Home.
When i first bought this game i was coming from Jedi Academy games and was looking forward to another action rpg. When combat started and it paused i was a little disappointed. But then the story and the characters pulled me in. I think this way combat works makes it even more immersive. You have to build up your character to become stronger. Not rely on your itchy trigger fingers and fast mouse and best everyone you meet at lvl 1. The story and the depth of the characters pulled me into this game and kept me there. Spoiling every other game thats lacking in character depth. Mass Effect is nice but compared to KOTOR the characters are very shallow besides a few lines here and there.
You're lucky to have experienced that. I already got spoiled years ago but now I finally decided to play the games anyways. Currently on my KOTOR II playthrough and it's so much fun.
As I recall, KOTOR was an Xbox exclusive back in the day, which makes me very happy I decided to get an OG Xbox instead of a PS2 when I got the chance. I played this game so much that I literally ruined my system and I have no regrets. This is, without a doubt, my favorite Star Wars game ever! Yes, I love other Star Wars games like Jedi Academy, Fallen Order, Survivor, etc. but, KOTOR is THE Star Wars game of Star Wars games. I couldn't recommend this game enough. Easily, my favorite Star Wars experience was just playing this game. I can't tell you how many hours I put into the game and how much fun I had playing it.
Just finished a playthrough of KOTOR 1 and currently on KOTOR 2. I was initially one of those turned off by the gameplay but I gave it another chance and became totally immersed in the story and characters. It still amazes me that these came out before the prequel trilogy was even finished. It saddens me knowing everything Revan and Meetra accomplished and how it basically meant nothing in SWTOR
@@hellothere-bx8cf There are many. First KOTOR is a single player 3rd person RPG. While SWOTOR is a MMORPG. The story of KOTOR 1 and 2 is fully consistent and completely logic from A to Z. Not always the case with SWOTOR The only way to be desapointed with KOTOR 1 or 2 for a Sat Wars fan, is if you wanted a game in which digital skills, quickness of reaction,... is important. The gameplay is a but updated but not without interest anyway. KOTOR is a turn by turn game where only strategy, equipment and party matters. If you wany to story first and foremost you can play in easy mode and you'll win every combat easily. The hard mode is more challenging, but no necesity to be a hardcore gamer to go through it.
@@cedriclenners3737 ahhh now I get it, I always got confused between the two, I've never really played these games nor do I know anything about the old republic but once the newer better version comes out in the ps5 eith better developed graphics then I'll check out its story and gameplay cuz I heard its one of the greatest games of all time
@@cedriclenners3737 and its one of the best eras in star wars so I'm intrigued to know more once the game comes out, hopefully they make a whole 9 movie saga around this period of time cuz it's expansive as hell
My favorite moment is the Rebuilt Jedi Enclave. It is beautifully executed with a tremendous soundtrack, along with a depressing yet beautiful gray ambience. And all that is revealed, how all of it goes completely compatible with what Kreia believed the Jedi to be, how even her gets surprised by discovering that Meetra survived giving up the Force not because of free will, but because she was afraid. All that for me it’s perfect.
literally just finished playing k2 and k1 (modded) these last 10 days or so.... mustve played k1 vanilla over a dozen times. never played k2 prior to then. for these two playthroughs, i went ahead with the RCM for k2, and a spoiler-free modpack for k1, just to get a new "feel" to the game. that being said: 1) i still couldnt recommend k1 enough to most people. its the best star wars game ive ever played (with jk2 in a close second), and probably the best game ive ever played in general. even 20 years later, there isnt a game i cherish more than k1. id recommend it to ANYONE who has even any semblance of knowledge about the sw universe, and even those who are completely new to it, it can still be an awesome game that can introduce you to the world, given the chronological order of events anyways... 2) k2 - even with the RCM, did not feel like a finished or polished game in terms of the actual content / adventure in the game (which i guess is to be expected, given k2's background), but the writing feels extremely compelling. i would still recommend it just as much as k1, but they are two very different games, despite taking place within very recent chronological proximity to one another, as well as with the respective MC for each game being (small spoiler) closely tied to one another... k1 is an all-around masterpiece. you learn about the universe and all of its beauties... you go through an adventure that flows so incredibly well. canonically, you end up as the hero of the galaxy, and along with all of these awesome companions - some of which are integral to that era - you vanquish the immediate threat and save the day... ...that is, until you play k2. there, you learn about the horrors of the universe... about some insidious threat that is lurking far away, in the deepest and darkest places of the galaxy, and how it has been influencing all of the events of the old republic era, and that the true enemy of the galaxy is more than meets the eye. but we never learn what EXACTLY that enemy is... unfortunately, if you want to learn WHAT that enemy is, you have to do some reading or play swtor (for better or for worse). im sure if there was a k3 it wouldve been something that pieced all of this together and wrapped up most of the story handily, but we never got that. regardless, both games are still timeless classics - i feel like if you are a major sw geek, these are both MUST play games no matter how different it may seem from todays games / environment. worst case, you walk away with a set of games you didnt enjoy but you learn a lot of deep lore, and best case, you might end up feeling like you just played two of the best games of all time - as did the majority of consumers that have played the games for the first time over the last two decades. also worth of a note: both of these games have two of the best plot twists you will experience in games - assuming you are a first time player of each and going in with no info. k1 is the most complete of the two, but k2 makes up for its rough edges with one of the best written characters in video game history, and a lot of subtle details and / or questions that it leaves you wanting to know the answer to...
I bought KOTOR 1 & 2 for my Laptop & I got them for my Xbox One X(decent price for both. $5). Yeah it’s still a great game in 2023. I think every Star Wars fan should enjoy the stories from the old republic(Games and books). As for the gameplay(lightsaber action), well I’ll put it this way: “I don’t hate it but I don’t love it”. I prefer the combat style from other games(like Outcast or Survivor). And of course I would change the look of the Jedi robes from KOTOR 1.
Jedi Academy's lightsaber combat and Force abilities would be grand. Nice "S" from the Fleischer Superman cartoons and the Kingdom Come comics, by the way.
I didn't know English when I first played it as a kid 😅Although I did get my father to translate for me sometimes, I ended up stuck on Taris and reluctantly gave up. Years later I played it again and absolutely loved it. It's my favorite star wars game, mainly because of the story and world building.
It's so weird to think this game is 20 years old. I will never forget, when I was 10, I got my first HP laptop, and I was really happy, and my dad had installed KOTOR on it. Now growing up, I didn't play nearly as many video games as I did watch movies or TV shows, so the few games I played were really special to me. KOTOR was one of those games. It was the first RPG I ever played, and the game that made RPGS my favorite game genre, and it also advanced my love for Star Wars in a way that the movies just couldn't reach at the time, and also was what really got me obsessed with Legends over Canon Star Wars. And to this day, KOTOR is the ONE game I feel like I could literally never get tired of replaying ever, and if I had to pick one game for a desert island, it would absolutely be KOTOR. This was an amazing video Luke! I would love to see a video where you talk about your experience with KOTOR 1 and 2 and how you got into those games. #100Khype!!
I do remember remember a lot of moments from Star Wars that I experienced. Though my personal favorite will always be listening to Canderous Ordo's War Stories and discovering your true identity in KOTOR 1, but also the plot twist of KOTOR 2. Also, I really do hope that the remake will be good and another reason for more Old Republic Era stuff to be brought back to the Canon. Like the story of Revan, the Mandalorian Wars, etc. I will always cherish the experience I had playing the original, even if the remake surpasses it. I'm still wondering how they will retell Revan's story. My only hope is that they don't change it too much. Though it would be cool if they added Exogol as one of the many Sith Worlds mentioned, but not shown. Basically another Malachor V, mixed with Star Forge.
My favorite Star Wars experience was killing Mission Vao's brother. I never do anything dark side but he was too real and it was too tempting to live out putting down someone like that.
My wife certainly does. She just played through it the first time this last February, and now KOTOR 2 is her favorite Star Wars tale, and Kreia is in her top 3 characters. Taris was hard for her to get through because of how slow it is, but once that was over it was smooth sailing.
I am 16 and i just played both games. And I loved it but I knew the twist do. But despite I was still excited when it happened. Witch shows how good the story is. And the games were frustratingly hard as well. I had to use my brain to an unknown extent. You can see that it need’s a remake. But I am afraid they will f**k it up But the story is better then maybe any RPG I’ve ever played.
Does this question even need an answer?! Of course KOTOR is worth playing no matter what year it is. Its an RPG classic and a good template to learn DnD mechanics to
I have a strange question, in the late 1990's, around 1996 I was friends with a guy who worked in the video game industry and he gave me a Star Wars game that I have always THOUGHT was KOTOR. But everything says it did not come out until 2003 - what game might I be confusing this with? Any Star Wars games back then?
Kotor 1 is great, maybe all time great. Kotor 2 is a spiritual experience. It'll make you feel like you've never actually experienced a proper star wars story (but you need restored content mod).
Bought KOTOR back in 2003 for the PC and absolutely enjoyed it. Then I bought KOTOR 2 and despite the original game being rushed it is in my humble opinion the greatest ever game I've played. I still have both games in their original packaging and play them from time to time (always as the canon storylines). If I were to pick favourite moments from both games: The Revan reveal and then later post-battle scene with Bastila on the Star Forge from KOTOR, then in KOTOR 2 the Visas Marr introduction cinematic video where you hear Darth Nihilus speak for the first time and later the battle with Darth Sion in the Trayus Academy on Malachor V.
I probably won't be replaying it until the remake releases. If and when it does. In the meantime, there are plenty of other games this year for me to play.
@@wickdaline8668 Hmm, never gonna argue with The Witcher III, although I might recommend the first two games of the trilogy first for proper context. Remedy better not make Alan Wake 2 the "jump the shark" installment of the AWE saga. Have no doubts Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be a treat. Insomniac Games really gets misses in their titles. Huge pass on Assassin's Creed. Those games have already lost their once immortal relevance in my opinion due to its aimless and endless plot. Here's to hoping the Master Collection really is a great compilation, especially on the PC on me and others' end.
OF COURSE IT IS ! what kind of question is that ... KOTOR 1 , 2 and Swtor ---> Boring Cal kestis And you should include Swtor i know its not kotor game and its online but its but it's good continuation when you finish Kotors and its still great game. and many Sunday fans of Cal Kestis' Pseudo Jedi don't even know that such games exist.. Not mention Kotor and swtor have so many interesting characters which i find more interesing than vader or palatine
I just finished it for the first time on my Series x. I bought both straight away for 10 bucks. It was legendary. a little long at the end but ok. My Friend is struggling with the Races a bit.😂😂 i told him in kotor 2 you also have to Jump in the races.😂.
I've played many Star War games over the years but never KOTOR... Recently I started thinking about it and after watching this video, I am definitely going to give it a go! My favourite moment and one that stuck with me since childhood is the Endor Forest speeder bike scene. As well as the Ewoks highjacking an AT-ST walker!
This game has so many memories and cool moments for me. The whole mandalore storyline, the kryat dragon fight, HK in general (meatbag), learning the sith code on korriban, the revan reveal, and so much more. I love this game.
I hadn't played it in awhile and thought it would be a quick nostalgia trip and I'd stop after the opening, but it sucked me right back in. Still a totally immersive experience with great characters, writing, and worldbuilding. Plus the fantastic Jeremy Soule score. Still totally holds up imo.
I beat the game once being a good guy and then I wanted to be a bad guy on my second playthrough but I got so attached to the characters in the story that I couldn't bring myself to be in ahole the second time either. Now all these years later I'm preparing to play again and maybe just maybe I can embrace the dark side
Well summarised! I actually started with KOTOR II on the Xbox; my brother gave it to me as a Christmas present. I got so engrossed in it that I knew I needed to try the original. Since then I’ve played both versions on several platforms many times and I never tire of it!
Started playing KOTOR 1 last week, thought it was amazing. I did however leave a lot of quests and exploring to do until after I best the main questline... Only to find out that the game ends there and you cant carry on playing lmao
One thing I like more about KOTOR 1 more than 2 (other than Bastila) is those dark jedi ambush points, its such a surprise when it first happens, but then I look forward to them on replays and make sure i'm geared up and ready to kick their butts. Even the voice acting for the line is so good, anyone that has played will remember the way he says it. "Lord Malak was most displeased when he learned you had escaped Taris alive. He has promised a great reward to whomever destroys you."
I AM REPLAYING KOTOR, i am having so many flashbacks from my youth because i played this game like 3 times all the way through when it came out. I was a green novice college student at the time. Wow i was so stupid in my early 20's lol. God i wish i could send myself a message in the past. As they say, hindsight is always 20/20. BTW i turn 40 years young this year. And i am still playing Kotor, and GOthic2 and Vampire the masquerade bloodlines lol. yes i am . i only play old games, Basically all these new games are crap.......
i really want to play kotor 2, i have it on steam. but it suffers a problem that i can't fix it no matter how hard i try. EVERY TIME i leave combat, my character freezes and i can't move. :/
Your FPS may be too high, if you have an Nvidia card you can limit the FPS to 89 in the control panel for that game only, I think that's the max. If it goes above 90 FPS it will freeze after combat. AMD cards you may need to download other software to limit FPS. Turn on V-sync too in game.
@@VoltRivian use something like Rivatuner, or SpecialK or RTSS to cap framerate down. Start at 80 and work your way up 85 to then to 89, mine works at 89 FPS with nvidia g-sync on, I have the modded version TLSM steam mod and supports 4K, it’s set 4K 144FPS in game with V-sync on but it’s limited to 89 fps in my nvidia control panel and works fine.
This is my favorite moment in Star Wars: Vader: Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy. Luke: I'll never join you! Vader: If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father. Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him! Vader: No. I am your father. Luke: No, that's not true! That's impossible! Vader: Search your feelings, you know it to be true. Luke: NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Vader: Luke, you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and together, we can ruled the galaxy as father and son.
I remember playing this game on PC almost 20 years ago in like in 2004 and completing it and really enjoying it. With the PC version you really need to install the community made stuff like the patches etc to really get the most out of the PC version of the game and to make it function because the PC version of KOTOR now a days on modern system can be very troublesome. Also I am glad the the Switch version of KOTOR 1 exists because it gives you an alternative way to play the game that is hassle free. I started KOTOR2 a long time ago but never finished it. Also there are PC handhelds that exist now that you can play the PC version on the Go like the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally for example.
My personal favourite experience from Star Wars is either The Empire Strikes Back or Andor. I was shown the OT was I was about 4 years old (just as ROTS came out in cinemas) and I was in love ever since. Even at that young age, I was astounded by the music, characters, story and the visuals, and Empire does this the best out of the 3. Watching Andor having grown up was such a delight. For me, Andor carries that same magic that the OT did, and I truly think it is the best piece of Star Wars media since ESB. I’d say KOTOR is my next favourite, but it’s all very close between that, Andor and ESB.
I agree that the best way to experience Kotor is on PC, but is also one of the most frustrating if you want to start. The game doesn't have optimisations like the one on Smartphone or Switch. Your first hour will be looking for mods that allow you to adjust the game to your screen size, resolution and will scale UI accordingly. I would be fantastic if Kotor would get something like Kotor's 2 steam workshop, where you can download all necessary mods with one click and forget about it.
I ve played Kotor 2 in 2006, when I was about 9 years old. It was my first Star Wars videogame ever, apart from some GBA Games. And I loved this whole experience in the same way, like I still do! It s such a pleasure to enjoy the world building, the atmosphere and the awesome stories, main & side as well. Kotor 1 is also a banger too imo, but I no as much as part 2 still is, especially with TSLRCM. An other great game experience I feel by playing the Jedi Knight series, apart their shitty graphic in the first 3 games. 😅 Anyway the worldbuilding and atmosphere is top. And most important, the story round about Kyle Katarn and Jaden Korr is just as pleasant as the gameplay. I also like Disney‘s Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor very much. At least I ve to say that the PS2 version of Revenge Of The Sith is also making pretty fun, even nowadoys. 👌🏻
I played this game for the 1st time this year, and loved it. When this game came out, I was in Poland and didn’t speak English. Poland in early 2ks and 90s had often released games that were not translated to Polish, which sucked if you were a kid that only spoke Polish during that time. This also caused me to not get into story based games until I was fluent in English
In my opinion, the Star Wars game that changed my view of the series the most was the ps2 revenge of the sith game, I grew up on the prequels and I was just captivated by the graphics and animation, when I was a kid it looked like 4K and ran like butter, it opened the door for me to look at other experiences, and now that both kotor games are 3.49 on Xbox rn, I’m gonna have at least 400 more hours of gameplay in less than 20 gigs of storage🔥
My favorite moment in Star Wars? I'd have to say when I first saw, in the ROTS 2 Disc Special Edition DVD, the "A Hero Falls" music video. I cried my eyes out as my life was pretty miserable back then and the tears were hella therapeutic. I watched the special features discs of AOTC and ROTS thoroughly multiple times in those days (yes I know, I'm an uber nerd and I'm proud, btw) But of all those special features, that music video really got me through some hard times. I do want to take this opportunity to humbly mention my YT channel, KOTOR Extraordinaire. I don't upload every week, but I try to hit most Fridays.
My favorite overall Star Wars moment is likely the most classic:" Luke, I am your father!" ❤ My favorite lightsaber combat is Darth Sidious vs Darth Maul and Savage Opress. My favorite video game is KOTOR 2(except the ending) and my favorite SW video game moment is the reveal of who you are in KOTOR1
In one of my play thru I played a some what gray jedi. That by mistake I killed all my light-side champions. Then I became the most evil Sith Load I've ever been, kill the entire Republic Fleet!
Didn't the remake get cancelled a few years ago?.. or am i missing something. Even if a remake was coming, I Would not trust it. I think its a lie or it would be a big disappointment. just play the original.
I'm 31 years old. I don't often replay games from my childhood, anymore. This is one that I still play through again every 2-3 years. And it's only gotten more fun than when I was a kid that didn't understand the underlying DnD mechanics behind the combat and I learned how to build my characters lol.
Don’t care about characters or plot. Is it all 3rd person? Dark Forces was good. Jedi Knight too. I couldn’t give two f’s about characters in the starwars universe
KotOR was one of the very first rpgs i ever played. And for it to be a star wars game i was hooked. I dont even know how many times i have played this game now at this point i have lost count. I feel if you like star wars video games and haven't played this game, do it lol
Kotor is the best game I've ever played when I played it I was just amazed when I startet playing it a few months ago. For the question Its really hard to point that down I loved swoop racing on manaan how the other racers reacted when talking to them, the trial system. Exploring the ancien sith graves on korriban. as you said it is truely a great rpg your choises matter and affect the world around you in a way I've never seen in any other game. For example getting banned from manaan. Or destroying the sith academy by not letting anyone to lead them left. The game may not be as big as these open world games nowerdays but its so deep in story and combat strategys that you want to play it again and again just to see what comes out if you choose that other option.

I know what you mean - I find peace within the Ebon Hawk too.
I always wanted to live in there
When i first bought this game i was coming from Jedi Academy games and was looking forward to another action rpg.
For myself, the twist was absolutely mind shattering and I still remember how it felt back in 2005 or so (got it shortly before number 2 came out)
You're lucky to have experienced that.
Who would only play this once or twice? 8 times minimum
SWOTOR is nothing comparing to KOTOR indeed
@@cedriclenners3737what's the difference?
@@hellothere-bx8cf There are many. First KOTOR is a single player 3rd person RPG. While SWOTOR is a MMORPG.
The story of KOTOR 1 and 2 is fully consistent and completely logic from A to Z. Not always the case with SWOTOR
The only way to be desapointed with KOTOR 1 or 2 for a Sat Wars fan, is if you wanted a game in which digital skills, quickness of reaction,... is important.

I've never played KOTOR 1 but I really enjoy playing KOTOR 2 my friend🙂
My favorite moment is the Rebuilt Jedi Enclave. It is beautifully executed with a tremendous soundtrack, along with a depressing yet beautiful gray ambience. And all that is revealed, how all of it goes completely compatible with what Kreia believed the Jedi to be, how even her gets surprised by discovering that Meetra survived giving up the Force not because of free will, but because she was afraid. All that for me it’s perfect.
Agreed. It's very powerful
literally just finished playing k2 and k1 (modded) these last 10 days or so....
mustve played k1 vanilla over a dozen times. never played k2 prior to then. for these two playthroughs, i went ahead with the RCM for k2, and a spoiler-free modpack for k1, just to get a new "feel" to the game. that being said:
1) i still couldnt recommend k1 enough to most people. its the best star wars game ive ever played (with jk2 in a close second), and probably the best game ive ever played in general. even 20 years later, there isnt a game i cherish more than k1. id recommend it to ANYONE who has even any semblance of knowledge about the sw universe, and even those who are completely new to it, it can still be an awesome game that can introduce you to the world, given the chronological order of events anyways...
Short Answer: Yes
Longer Answer: HELL YES
@@michaelandreipalon359 Hey thanks! Gotta love the classics 😎👍🏼
I didn't know English when I first played it as a kid 😅Although I did get my father to translate for me sometimes, I ended up stuck on Taris and reluctantly gave up. Years later I played it again and absolutely loved it. It's my favorite star wars game, mainly because of the story and world building.
The answer is YES.
This is a great one :)
Best game I've ever played. I fucking love it and must play through again soon
To those that say no, "Apathy is death".

My favorite Star Wars experience was killing Mission Vao's brother. I never do anything dark side but he was too real and it was too tempting to live out putting down someone like that.
Gets a bit worse if one read his role in the KotOR comics.

Have faith my friend
Play this game every summer (sometimes twice a summer) just to relive the childhood experience of the OG xbox days.
My wife certainly does. She just played through it the first time this last February, and now KOTOR 2 is her favorite Star Wars tale, and Kreia is in her top 3 characters. Taris was hard for her to get through because of how slow it is, but once that was over it was smooth sailing.
Your wife is a woman of true culture.
@@100StarWars She says "thank you."
I played this when it was released, and remember Taris being really slow first time through. Even the early parts of Dantooine was a bit of a grind.
Taris is awesome.
Taris and Peragus are both really strong and woefully underrated. People who skip them are missing the point.
I am 16 and i just played both games. And I loved it but I knew the twist do.
But despite I was still excited when it happened. Witch shows how good the story is.
And the games were frustratingly hard as well. I had to use my brain to an unknown extent.
You can see that it need’s a remake. But I am afraid they will f**k it up
But the story is better then maybe any RPG I’ve ever played.
Does this question even need an answer?! Of course KOTOR is worth playing no matter what year it is. Its an RPG classic and a good template to learn DnD mechanics to
You say turn based like that's a bad thing!
Literally turned TSL on last night and got through Peragus, Telos and Narr Shaddaa in less than 4 hours lol.
Good luck, Exile.
Hmm, does this include the Dark Forces Saga of games?
@@michaelandreipalon359 Non-SW games more like.

Here's to hoping the Master Collection really is a great compilation, especially on the PC on me and others' end.
kotor2 is better
OF COURSE IT IS ! what kind of question is that ... KOTOR 1 , 2 and Swtor ---> Boring Cal kestis
And you should include Swtor i know its not kotor game and its online but its but it's good continuation when you finish Kotors
and its still great game. and many Sunday fans of Cal Kestis' Pseudo Jedi don't even know that such games exist..
Not mention Kotor and swtor have so many interesting characters which i find more interesing than vader or palatine
i started palying kotor in 2023..., quickly became one of the best RPG and star wars game that i ever palyed !
unfortunately the dollar exchange rate made jedi survivor 5 times more expensive in my country, so i haven't played it yet
Without watching the video, the answer is yes. 10/10 times I would say yes, extremely replayable
Now all these years later I'm preparing to play again and maybe just maybe I can embrace the dark side

story(telling) and lore in kotor 1 & 2 are timless, gameplay, graphics and everytihing else not so much..
It's on my phone right now. Been going back and forth between KOTOR and FFVI.
Time for another playthrough then ;)
One thing I like more about KOTOR 1 more than 2 (other than Bastila) is those dark jedi ambush points, its such a surprise when it first happens, but then I look forward to them on replays and make sure i'm geared up and ready to kick their butts. Even the voice acting for the line is so good, anyone that has played will remember the way he says it. "Lord Malak was most displeased when he learned you had escaped Taris alive. He has promised a great reward to whomever destroys you."
Honestly. Something about these graphics are nostalgic in the best way. 12:09
Watching episode 4 for the first time in elementary. It was shown to us as a special event. I was in awe every second.
This a game in the same league as Half Life 1 & 2, Grim Fandango...must have.

i really want to play kotor 2, i have it on steam. but it suffers a problem that i can't fix it no matter how hard i try.
And even then, I may prefer the GOG version, with the Restored Content Mod implemented.

Na its legit on of the best games ever made. It has its flaws but its so damn good.
Also there are PC handhelds that exist now that you can play the PC version on the Go like the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally for example.
sorry to say, im pretty sure the remake is effectively cancelled.
Yes Star wars knights of the old republic is still awsome
Now its free on prime gaming. I would try it if possible 😊
This game always to be my favorite Star Wars game right to kotor 2
Short answer; yes let's fucking go
My personal favourite experience from Star Wars is either The Empire Strikes Back or Andor.
Nice to see Andor getting some love in my comments
It is insane how this game is twenty years old.😢
WHEN I REALIZED THIS GAME WAS MADE FOR ME 😏😏😏
I agree that the best way to experience Kotor is on PC, but is also one of the most frustrating if you want to start.
Mushu shaka paka. (pets gizka) Mulli ra bes, mulli ra ra bes.....
Also even though the characters are dated, the matte painting backgrounds look SO GOOD
And the music is beyond sublime.
Definitely the best Star Wars game ever made
I played this game for the 1st time this year, and loved it. When this game came out, I was in Poland and didn’t speak English. Poland in early 2ks and 90s had often released games that were not translated to Polish, which sucked if you were a kid that only spoke Polish during that time. This also caused me to not get into story based games until I was fluent in English
You’re actually right. Experiencing this game as I did completely changed my perspective in life. Kreia’s teachings are absolute…
Spoiler
You and Bastila have a baby, so no playing as a female is not canon 🤪
Wat
In my opinion, the Star Wars game that changed my view of the series the most was the ps2 revenge of the sith game, I grew up on the prequels and I was just captivated by the graphics and animation, when I was a kid it looked like 4K and ran like butter, it opened the door for me to look at other experiences, and now that both kotor games are 3.49 on Xbox rn, I’m gonna have at least 400 more hours of gameplay in less than 20 gigs of storage🔥
Kotor1 and Kotor2 aren’t perfect games, but god damn if they don’t have great replayable stories. It’s a blessing they we even have them.
My favorite moment in
Star Wars?
My favorite overall Star Wars moment is likely the most classic:" Luke, I am your father!" ❤
My favorite lightsaber combat is Darth Sidious vs Darth Maul and Savage Opress.
My favorite video game is KOTOR 2(except the ending) and my favorite SW video game moment is the reveal of who you are in KOTOR1
The story is just soo good. The first time i realized **** in the first one. Was crazy!
Kotor 1 and 2 are still the best, most well written and acted Star Wars media
