Fortunately we live in an Era when a mother can say "quit sodomizing children" to a priest. In the 80s even I was a child, woman and children were religiously silenced and politically corrected if they ever called out a priest for criminal behavior.
I love being Catholic. I was ashamed of it before I began the journey to learn what we believe and why. I'm still on the journey now and always will be. It is a source of great joy in my life and has helped me to fall ever more deeply in love with my Lord and Savior.

Being a catholic is challenging, especially during these times, and we shouldn’t ever give up. During times of difficulty, turn to our Lord, and ask him to help Us carry our crosses! When you carry your cross, your own the right path to the kingdom of heaven.
Being a catholic is not challenging, it is hypocrital, like you and Pope Francis, prince of hypocrites who met EMMA BONINO (poilitician supporting illegal migration) and said that she is "a model" for Italians. But Emma Bonino practised 10,000 ABORTIONS, she killed 10,000 babies, and Pope Francis know this very well. Thus, instead of "filtering the midge" (women who might become priests and bishops like in other churches) why don't you ask Pope Francis WHY he swallowed the camel, and he is supporting a politician who practised 10,000 abortions, killing with her own hands 10,000 babies? Don't you believe that the killing of 10,000 babies is much more important than a woman who is priest or bishop? Moreover, why in Catholic church bishops are allowed to make null marriages? A marriage can NEVER BE DECLARED NULL, a marriage is the union of a man and woman blessed by God, and no bishop or pope can dissolve it. And yet, in Catholic church heretical bishops are allowed to dissolve marriages! You are not on the right path to heaven, you are on the path of heresy!
WOW that is why Jesus is born of Virgin birth, because he is the Word, the Seed that always was, he could not have come from any man’s seed, any sinner’s seed. This faith is so rational and coherent the more you uncover and dig deeper.
Virgin birth is rational? Really? Are you sure that is the word you want to use?????? And, BTW, "Biblically" it is the woman who sins and also becomes less valuable chattel via sexual intercourse. So, you can't have the Messiah gestating in the womb of a tramp who is damaged goods. Must have a virgin. Now that is rational!!! ???
That's why christianity is truly the best religion and only way, Most of these analogies and theological topics fly over the heads of atheists and they don't bother trying to understand or think about it. Christianity is a pretty complex and coherent religion and it's a beautiful and love filled relationship with God.
@@arielteixeira4306 Unfortunately, your assumption on this matter is predicated on conjectures and suppositions. Father Sheen is not defending an impossible position; however, it might be complex and difficult for some to accept, but not impossible.
"If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church that is accused of being behind the times, as our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which, in seasons of bigotry, men say must be destroyed in the name of God as men crucified Christ and thought they had done a service to God. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because He called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which is rejected by the world as Our Lord was rejected by men. Look for the Church which amid the confusions of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its Voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly it is other worldly. since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. But only that which is Divine can be infinitely hated and infinitely loved. Therefore the Church is Divine." Taken from Radio Replies, Vol. 1, p IX, Rumble & Carty, Tan PublishingFulton Sheen
Presumably, you understand it. If so, I have some legit questions... It seems that it is not adequate that a woman have the "seed" of the Word - for certainly I think we would all agree that women can receive the Word, and share the Word, or else we would not allow them to instruct children - but a priest have have the _literal_ "seed." What then of a priest who - Heaven forbid - has some ailment or experiences some accident that removes any chance of him bearing seed? Is he unable to be ordained? If he is already ordained, does he lose his ordination? This is how it was under the old covenant, when there were restrictions on those who had such maladies and/or accidents. The corollary would be to consider who from the transsexual community is eligible for ordination. Would we say that it is _only_ the women from that community who are eligible, because they bear the literal seed? That would be quite odd, to say the least, but I confess that there are things about the church which seem odd at first, and yet they still are.
@@MarcillaSmith Hello! I will try to answer your questions. If a man is incapable of carrying out the priestly duties (such as speaking, to give the Word, or listening, to attend confession, or using his hands and arms, to celebrate mass) he cannot be ordained. As of a priest who experience, let's say, an accident, I am not sure but I don't think he loses his ordination, just ceases the duties, if necessary. The question of the transexual community is a bit more complicated, but to summarize: only men capable to the service can be ordained. Hope I could be of help!
@@MarcillaSmith The Word being a man’s seed is an analogy to show that in the same way there is that function between a man (seed giver) and a woman (seed nurturer) in a family, there is the parallel to be drawn for how a Church (a different kind of family) should function - male priest gives the seed (the Word of God) and females listen and nurture their children by teaching it to them. The analogy reveals the deeper nature of human relationships and can help us how to act in families - both personal families and in the Church, but it is just an analogy. A man is still a man even if he loses the ability to bear and give a PHYSICAL seed. The Old Testament Mosaic Law is full of legalistic rules regarding issues of the PHYSICAL body that had their purpose back then, but that are no longer applicable; they have been fulfilled by Christ. Now is the era of the SPIRITUAL, and thus if a man possesses the capabilities of giving the SPIRITUAL seed (preaching) then he has the ability to be a priest. Nobody from the transsexual, gay, lgbt community can be a priest or even truly be part of a Christian community, and thus be saved, WITHOUT FIRST revoking their membership in the trans community and trying to avoid the behaviors that come with being a trans, gay, lgbt. You either belong to the community of God or the communities of the devil. If a man attracted to the same sex or a man who feels they are a woman were even just willing to reject those lifestyles which the Christian faith knows to be wrong they would be absorbed into the Christian community. If they then worked on resolving their urges, temptations, addictions, and became truly free from those unnatural evil feelings, then they perhaps would even be fit to take greater roles of leadership, maybe even as priests, although like with any addiction it is probably really hard to truly conquer a sexual/gender-related addiction fully and consistently. But of course very possible with the help of Christ Jesus, one must simply let the doctor do the healing.
When I hear his voice I hear very clear the voice of Jesus, words of eternal life 🙏 saint bishop Fulton J. Sheen pray for us and for the church because our church needs more saints like you 🙏❤️😢🇵🇹🇺🇸
He was a great intellect and expositor of scripture and a very compelling preacher....But! This is where you lose me...you think he is in a position to intercede for you from heaven? Romans 8:34 "Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us." Jesus our Lord intercedes for us...why would you substitute Him for a mortal soul who was a sinner like you and me?? Pray to Jesus, not man!!

@@angru_arches Any living person who prays for you is offering his intercession. Since death is overthrown and all live in Christ, the saints offer their prayers in a way very much like any living person on earth might.
@@RichardHMaher Demonstrate this scripturally...you think the dead are aware of the affairs of the living instead of enjoying their bliss? And you think the bible missed this integral lesson that the Catholic Church has attained somehow...that Jesus, who we are told is our intercessor, and in whose name alone we have the Father's ear, is not all there is. All I'm saying is if it's not in the bible, don't add to it...it becomes manmade religion at that point.
Such a remarkable man, priest, and suppressed canonization of a saint! Imagine what the Church would be today had he been elected as the sovereign pontiff in his life time!
While I don't try to write a homily, I would tell my priest that I enjoyed his and offer questions that might give him ideas on homilies. Sometimes that helps.
Sadly, this is pertinent as the Plenary Council in Australia is debating the ordination of women to the diaconate. Please pray for our country's bishops.
Now you realise why Pope Francis was trying to suppress the Traditional Latin Mass as he knows the more it grows the greater the number of vocations to traditional orders, the greater the push back by these young priests against 1970's theological fads, so therefore these modernists are running out of time. If these people believe will the ordination of women will flood the pews they can think again and look at the Uniting Church in Australia and its irrelevance to the Protestant religion.
Not a word here with which an Orthodox Christian cannot agree. I'm particularly pleasantly surprised to hear that Rome also views the husband and wife as types of Christ and the Church. (Or at least, it did - Sheen is a bit old school.)
Words of truth and grace have power that afflicts individuals - convicting their consciences. This causes the involuntary coughing reaction, very often.
I agree with what the priest says here... but as a protestant, can I genuinely ask, why do you guys minimize the supremacy of Christ as our only intercessor? Romans 8:34 "Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us." Jesus says come to me, not via any other intermediary, He is the bridge to God, only Him, it's what Scripture asserts. Where does Mary's intercession come in?
@@RiNickolous No, except that's not what I'm saying...I simply ask where do you get the idea that the dead are able to intercede for us? Hello David… May I add to this conversation? As Catholics we have a deep love for Christ and everything we believe in is solely to honor Him. If we knew that the intercession of saints were wrong, of course it would be stopped - but we don’t pray to saints as many Protestants believe. God actually allows us to ask our brothers and sisters to pray for our salvation. We have this gift of community! And are the souls in heaven not a part of this community? In 1 Timothy, we can see that we are encouraged to pray for one another yet we see it says Christ is the only mediator and this is true. While He is, are we not encouraged to spread the word of God and pray for our neighbors? This is only a small piece of info on the validity of the intercession of saints. The Bible is so complex that it would be near impossible to cover here. God bless! :)

Acts 4:12, "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men[a] by which we must be saved.”...you call to no one else but Jesus... 2. " 1 Timothy, we can see that we are encouraged to pray for one another yet we see it says Christ is the only mediator and this is true. While He is, are we not encouraged to spread the word of God and pray for our neighbors?" You say it is true Christ is the only mediator and then??? He is either the only one or He is not the only one...Scripture says He is the only one, the Roman Catholic church says No! Him and dead saints...I just wanna hear a justification for this practice, coz it certainly is not in the bible...and you just misused 1 Timothy, we are told to pray for one another, talking to the living , not a single mention. even vaguely, to praying to the dead,, that's very blasphemous to be frank. Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, says Only Him, your church says, No! You disagree with the Head of the church?
Just as men cannot give the miracle of life. We all have our jobs, our abilities, our limitations. It is not meant to divide us, but to make us rely on each other. Teamwork, family, community.
Protestants have pastors (who should be men), not priests. (Anglicans/Episcopalians have priests, but they don't consider themselves Protestant.) The New Testament knows nothing of a special line of sacerdotal priests; all believers are considered priests. A priest presents man to God, but a pastor presents God to man. Our permanent High Priest, who offered one sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins and who always intercedes for us, is Jesus Christ
If Fulton Sheen would be alive today and preech like that ...... he would most definitely be defrocked and most like even excommunicated by the vatican. If bishop Sheen would see the absolute terrible state the roman Church is in he would for sure be a Sedevacantist or he would have converted to Holy Orthodoxy.
The priest is “in persona Christi”, meaning he is acting “ in the person of Christ”. Ie - at the Consecration during Mass, he says “This is MY body…”. During the sacrifice of the Mass, the priest acts in persona Christi and becomes both victim and priest. A priest being male keeps this accurate as obviously Jesus was male.
Nooo...he recites the Words of Christ...they say "and He took the cup and said" "and He took the bread and said"...not that I, in place of Christ..he doesn't appropriate the place of Christ, and the bread and wine do not become/turn into the body, they represent...but I understand the point you're making that it's because of the role it has to be a man, point taken, though not the other explanation...it is not
@@angru_arches Catechism of the Catholic Church: 1548 In the ecclesial service of the ordained minister, it is Christ himself who is present to his Church as Head of his Body, Shepherd of his flock, high priest of the redemptive sacrifice, Teacher of Truth. This is what the Church means by saying that the priest, by virtue of the sacrament of Holy Orders, acts in persona Christi Capitis: 23 Cf. LG 10; 28; SC 33; CD 11; PO 2; 6. It is the same priest, Christ Jesus, whose sacred person his minister truly represents. Now the minister, by reason of the sacerdotal consecration which he has received, is truly made like to the high priest and possesses the authority to act in the power and place of the person of Christ himself (virtute ac persona ipsius Christi). 24 Pius XII, encyclical, Mediator Dei: AAS, 39 (1947) 548. Christ is the source of all priesthood: the priest of the old law was a figure of Christ, and the priest of the new law acts in the person of Christ. 25 St. Thomas Aquinas, STh III, 22, 4c.

" possesses the authority to act in the power and place of the person of Christ himself"...what does it mean.in 'power' and 'position' of Christ himself? Because, as protestant, we believe in the fallibility of our pastors and elders..in fact, we learn from Acts 17:11 "Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so." The more noble believers searched scripture themselves to verify what those on the pulpit preached and taught...because scripture, which is available to all, is the final authority...Now when I hear of concepts like "persona Christi Capitis", I wonder if this power ascribed implies infallibility in the deeds and words of the priest as it is for Christ. Remember Paul even warned that if anyone came along, even an angel, and preached a different Gospel, they were to be anathema. Jesus was the final priest, the Old Testament priest was a type of Christ, functionally, nothing about power or in place of God. I guess my question is, is the priest ascribed, for all intents and purposes, a status equal to Jesus when performing his duty? And do you believe in transubstantiation?
@@angru_arches Brother in Christ, David, allow me to respond to your intelligent queries: (1) Yes, I believe in transubstantiation, because (a) Jesus taught it: John 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. (b) Paul affirmed it: 1 Corinthians 11 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. (2) "Remember Paul even warned that if anyone came along, even an angel, and preached a different Gospel, they were to be anathema". Exactly, so why do so many 'Bible-believing' Christians fall for Ellen White or Joseph Smith, or John Calvin or Martin Luther. It puzzles me. The Word of God does not contradict itself, does it? Yet, these leaders, all claim the Bible for their authority, and yet they teach vastly different precepts. Which one of these do you follow, Brother David? Or, are they all wrong? If so, how do you know? (3) "When I hear of concepts like "persona Christi Capitis", I wonder if this power ascribed implies infallibility in the deeds and words of the priest as it is for Christ". Brother David, you are conflating 2 different issues here, which are Papal Infallibility and In Persona Christi. The gift of infallibility applies to the Pope, and only to the Pope, while he is in office as the Pope. Infallibility means that the Pope, cannot & will not teach any Dogma that is in error, meaning it will lead Christians, who believe in that Dogma, to lose their eternal salvation. That power is from the Holy Spirit, given by Jesus Himself. Infallibility does not mean that anything & everything the Pope says is 100% Catholic Dogma; infallibility does not mean the Pope is without sin. Infallibility is not given to any priest or bishop either. It is reserved for the Pope Himself, based on Matthew 16:18 & 19, when Jesus gives Peter the keys to the kingdom. Please cross reference that with Isaiah 22:22. For a much more detailed analysis of infallibility, I provide you with this link: www.catholic.com/encyclopedia/infallibility (4) Acts 17:11 "Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so." "The more noble believers searched scripture themselves to verify what those on the pulpit preached and taught...because scripture, which is available to all, is the final authority". (a) the scripture the noble believers were searching was the Old Testament (b) they were examining to see if Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah of the Jewish People (c) your biblical quote does NOT say anything about final authority (d) The Apostles were the authority for Christians, and Peter was the final authority: Acts 2:14 “But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: ‘Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.’” Acts 2:38 “And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’” (5) "Is the Priest an equal in status to Christ? " Of course not. The Lord Jesus Christ is the 2nd Person of the Most Holy Trinity, the Incarnate Son of God who willingly suffered & died for our sins, to be raised to New Life to offer us Eternal Life in the Trinity. No human being is equal to that. At the Divine Liturgy, the validly ordained priest acts in the Person of Christ (In Persona Christi) by the Command of Christ Himself Luke 19 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Matthew 26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[b] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. I urge you it was representative...even the manna He explains was a Type of Christ...He says he is the door...does it mean church doors are literally Christ? Or that he was a literal opening to heaven? No! Jesus came in a normal human body, which was killed and buried, not eaten...He is called the last Adam, not adam incarnate; He is the Word, not an actual utterance; He is the vine, we the branches etc etc....it does not say that the molecular composition of the dough in bread becomes human flesh...you have partaken presumably, did it taste like meat? Only God, not even the pope...you have accepted the Pope is not sinless...but I take it you maintain his interpretation of scripture is infallible as he is Jesus incarnate, or something to that effect. Nothing like this exists in scripture...Jesus sent us 1 Helper, the Spirit of God who in-dwells all believers...in fact, NT teaches He witnesses to our hearts the truth about Jesus. "Yet, these leaders, all claim the Bible for their authority, and yet they teach vastly different precepts." Actually No! Not "vastly different." John Calvin and Martin Luther both believed Christians are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone...you guys don't believe faith alone, you add works and the Catholic church actually anathematized anyone who preached sola fide..straight from the teaching of the infallible Pope...and the Pope is celebrated and shares in God's glory, so not only to the glory of God but of also the Pope who is Christ Incarnate. No. The bible doesn't contradict itself, fallible men do, including the pope who believes in Mary's intercession, not anywhere in the Bible. Is he adding to scripture?? I don't know about Ellen White...but you mention Joseph Smith as if he is in the same camp as us...his followers distinguish themselves from mainstream Christianity, even Roman Catholics always interject to let you know they are Catholic, meaning they follow the Vatican...We protestants, believe Sola Scriptura, and we all invariably believe in harmony the core doctrines of Scripture...those 5 Solas, and we disagree on the periphery: matters of baptism, gifts, mode of worship in church services, no idols or graven images and definitely not bowing before them(that's in violation of the 2nd Commandment)..We all believe all men have fallen short, and nobody will share God's glory, even Paul Himself rebukes Peter publically on hypocrisy...the lead apostle was found faulty and had married, so I don't really know where the Catholics get their liturgies from. But they certainly aren't scriptural. C. ""the Pope, cannot & will not teach any Dogma that is in error," "That power is from the Holy Spirit, given by Jesus Himself." "based on Matthew 16:18 & 19, when Jesus gives Peter the keys to the kingdom"" Jesus did not give Peter the keys to the kingdom. "Mat 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." I will build my Church - not on the man Simon Bar-jona; but on him as the heavenly-taught confessor of a faith. “My Church,” says our Lord, calling the Church HIS OWN. On that confession, all men isolated from God are reconciled, and added to the Kingdom and that's how the Kingdon is built. "Mat 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”" This is not particularly to Peter, because we see it was soon expressly extended to all the apostles just 2 chapters ahead in Matthew 18:18, "Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Mat 18:19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” See how in chapter 16 you claim it is said to Peter, and in 18 Jesus is saying this to all the apostles. So which is which,is it Pater, is it all the apostles, or is His church built upon the confession that Peter made, that He is the Son of the Living God" 👆👆 Please Answer This.👆👆 "(d) The Apostles were the authority for Christians, and Peter was the final authority:" Absolutely not! The apostles were the direct eye witnesses converted by Christ Himself, including Paul...Paul even says "Gal 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." Even them, the apostles, no one is exempt, nobody's above the scripture. Peter is not the final authority, like I referred to earlier, Paul rebukes him publically for hypocrisy...Jesus is the final authority. Paul preached the Christ he saw, that's why his epistles are not synchronized with the gospels... Paul doesn't preach in the authority of Peter, but of Christ, Solus Christus, "Galatians 1:11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. Gal 1:12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. " Even you point it out here "Acts 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’”" Not themselves and with Peter as the absolute final authority. Bro, Peter, Paul, John, they are all dead...Jesus is alive and will not share His glory with man; " ‘We must obey God rather than men.’" Precisely, FROM THEIR OWN MOUTHS!!! FINALLY : "At the Divine Liturgy, the validly ordained priest acts in the Person of Christ (In Persona Christi) by the Command of Christ Himself" Jesus did not ordain Priesthood, all the scripture you've attached there says nothing about the validity of ordained priests..those verses are just about keeping the practice of Communion...no priesthood, no "in the Person of Christ"...that one is a completely made up liturgy by the Roman Catholic church....btw, the reason I qualify it as "Roman" Catholic is because it did not exist until Rome embraced Christianity, before 313 AD when Emperor Constantine, the church had no head but Christ, our only Bride Groom...Peter had been dead almost 6 Centuries before the Papal supremacy was established. The Bible has never acknowledged Peter as the head of the church in place of Jesus...you have zero scriptural backing except the one misinterpreted one...He says you are 'Peter', and upon this rock I will build my church...he goes from talking to his in 2nd person, 'you' Peter to dissociated clause 'this'....calling attention to the analogy of building on a rock, steady ground as opposed to sandy ground...and quite clearly we are taught if you believe in your heart and confess with your tongue, like Peter had just done, that Jesus is Lord, then one is becomes part of the Church and His Kingdom.....PETER PLAYS NO ROLE IN YOUR OR MY SALVATION!!! By Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. Anything different Paul says is anathema!! Do not obey man. Sorry for the length...but maybe from now we answer shortly to each other....I hope I haven't come off rude. I want genuine discussion.
The instructions of GOD are foolishness and a great offense to those who are perishing, but to ALL those who are blessed to BELIEVE, it is the power of GOD that brings salvation: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. As a woman, I completely understand the role differentiation and I'm grateful for it.
Thank you for your lecture. In the presbyterian church woman are preachers and also give Mass and the Communion. And the Queen is the Head of the Church in England. PLEASE pray for peace in Jerusalem and Ukrania and Russia and the whole world Amen Shalom ❤️ Amen Shalom ❤️
It pisses me off that vvomen are Pastors in the Presbyterian Church. I stopped going to church when they started to preach about equality while gender equality is destroying society
It's not the Queen who is head of the Anglican Church but the British sovereign. And that is unrelated entirely to what the Most Venerable bishop is talking about here, for the British sovereign doesn't carry out any sacrament. She does not assume any priestly role.
@castelodeossos3947 the Head of the Anglican Communion is Christ and none other which is why we have the Doctrine of Equality of Apostles meaning all our Diocesan Bishops are Popes/Patriarchs in their own right. The King of England is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England which means he makes sure her Bishop do not go overboard. Other Anglican Communion churches have no such arrangement though. He invests the Archbishop of Canterbury by ancient right just as the Roman Emperors used to do for the Orthodox Catholic Popes (all the Patriarchs) of their Empire. It was Charlemagne who gave the Patriarch of the West the right to claim freedom from the Investiture of the Roman Emperor. This was an innovation however. Lastly Anglicans have female ordained ministers because Roman Catholics and Orthodox Catholics have them but refuse to permit their Ordination. Abbesses are Bishops, Nuns are Priests and Sisters are Deacons but are not ordained so the cannot confer Sacraments in these two denominations. However Anglicans who permit it use three reasons - 1) Christ had female disciples who were training under Him to become Rabbis, Prophets and Apostles just like him. Those three-fold Orders are the current Deacon, Priest and Bishop. 2) The Scriptures and Ancient texts testify that indeed there were female Rabbis, Prophets and Apostles. The ancient Nazarene Jewish Knesset had a hierarchy of Apostles, Prophets, Rabbis, Disciples, Elders, Deacons, Readers and Catechumens. All these positions are attested to have been filled by women both in the Bible and other ancient texts. 3) The testimony of Roman Catholic female monastics. The only reason for the ban on female Ordination was ritual purity. It was the same reason a married Priesthood was forbidden in the West. Married Monasticism was also forbidden on same account. Even Roman Catholics have relaxed rules on married monastic with the Chemin Neuf, Brothers and Sisters of Charity among others and married clergy with the Eastern Rite Roman Catholic Churches and Anglican Ordinariate. Clearly banning women's Ordination is obsolete. And admitting married non-monastic women to the clergy and Ordination again after 1400 years is in order. 4) Lastly we do not care what Roman Catholic Internet trolls say. In heaven we will know who followed God's word on Women's Ordination and who did not.
bishop sheen would have been defrocked and excommunicated if he would preach like that in this day and age with the entire vatican being overtaken by far-left woke anti-christians
For those Catholics who believe we have to keep up with the spirit of the times or that we need to accept women priests because we are shorthanded of newly ordained men priests here is why you can not have women as priests... Jesus is the first Priest as he forgives our sins and pours Graces on us. He annointed the Apostles and those that come after to represent him as Priests during Holy Communion. Jesus was a man made in the likeness of God, thus he shall not come to life during the Mass in the body of a woman.
Well aside from the fact that none of you Catholics are actually conjuring the spirit of a fictional Jew who died 2000 years ago its laughably obvious why women can't be preachers. Its preciously because men are elevated over women in your religion. If women were able to preach it would give them authority within the church to be more than just a baby making housekeeper. So, it's apparent why priests like this try to rationalize this inherit bias as equal but separate functions. It sounds a lot nicer than saying stay in the kitchen and make sure the children grow up to be unquestioning slaves to the cross so that the men of the clergy can abuse and profit off of their ignorance for years to come. The enemy of the clergy as well as their creation known as God is knowledge and when more people obtain it the less likely they are to believe the fairytales they are told to accept as reality.
" Jesus was a man made in the likeness of God, thus he shall not come to life during the Mass in the body of a woman." Careful. The Creed is "Begotten, not made; consubstantial with the Father"
Roman Catholics have female clergy but they are monastic and not ordained so they cannot confer Sacraments. An Abbess is a Bishop, a Nun is a Priest and a Sister is a Deacon.
Pope Gelasius in his ninth letter (chap. 26) to the bishops of Lucania condemned the evil practice which had been introduced of women serving the priest at the celebration of Mass. Since this abuse had spread to the Greeks, Innocent IV strictly forbade it in his letter to the bishop of Tusculum: ‘Women should not dare to serve at the altar; they should be altogether refused this ministry.’ We too have forbidden this practice in the same words in Our oft-repeated constitution Etsi Pastoralis, sect. 6, no. 21. ” - Benedict XIV, enc. Allatae sunt, 1755
Except…the world doesn’t hate this type of church. Those in power love it. What the world actually hates is equality and justice and inclusion for the poor and the minority and the oppressed. What it loves is men with a lot of power and control over women and children. It loves legalism and the kind of gaslighting bs this guy is spouting.
People like to call Bishop Barron the Fulton Sheen of our time. I agree, he is in function. However, what Bishop Barron lacks, what everyone nowadays lacks, is Archbishop Sheen's gravitas.
idk but i’ve heard a lot of reasons why women can’t be a priest made up by men and i still think that they just don’t want them to have a power over them and they keep saying just things like that to not let it happen :((
Can sb explain why men who are not priest are also allowed to be in the church when women are the “church”. I would love to hear a good explanation of that
My mind is so blown that people get on here to argue🤯. He is a Catholic and we have all types of people on here who aren't Catholic who just want to waste our days arguing. Why'd you listen to the man in the 1st place, his robes tell you what he's about?. Them angels poured out another bowl because we're infested with these demonic argumentative spirit. It's what social media is for right? Not to learn but to argue. Half aren't even arguing about the video topic, just beliefs held by the person on the video. SMH man
Fulton haven't you heard...two gay men can give homilies, not on virtues or Christianity. But on living in & promoting sin... just ask the archdiocese of Chicago where they ban the traditional catholic mass.
God took me to hell and I saw demons torturing humans and being burned god coming soon please the rosary and pray for animal abuse to stop. Jesus took me to hell he told me being gay and trans isn't a sin he's real I used to be athiest please pray the rosary and pray for animal abuse to stop I heard about this case where a man shoves a pole inside of a kitten until she died please please pray to Mary and st Joseph for animals to stop being treated and called pets and animal abuse to stop they need your help!! Jesus told me being gay and trans isn't a sin
Evidently Jesus is the seed but if Mary speaks she will ruin everything so it's a bunch of creepy guys spreading disease to eachother in the man cave while they demand mommy make children for them to molest and carry the tradition.
Brilliant video, but the reality here is that now today 70% of priests are over 70 and many have to cover more than on parish. What is going to happen 20 years hence?
Matthew 9, "37.Then he said to his disciples: “The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. 38.Therefore, petition the Lord of the harvest, so that he may sent out laborers to his harvest.”"
Here is truth, "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety." 1 Timothy 2:12-15.
The serpent seduced Eve and she n turn dragged Adam down with her. They both fell for Satan's trickery. Jesus, on the other hand, resisted the Evil One. His Holy Mother was conceived without sin so her womb could be the first Tabernacle of the Word Made Flesh. Sorry if what I said sounds like a sermon. Anyway, Jesus (new Adam) was born of the Virgin Mary (new Eve) to undo the damage done when the first Adam and Eve disobeyed God and brought sin and physical death into the world.
If only Bishop Sheen could see clerical ecclesiastical issues now. We have entire Dioceses and Archdioceses of the Catholic Church sued to the hilt because of priestly sexual infidelity, yet we had at least one female Protestant "bishop" who bought her lay leaders several hundred dollars in unwanted sex toys, and she was given nearly $500,000 in a "golden handshake" at her "retirement" only to reassume her clerical office mere months later.
not even to mention the WIDESPREAD liturgical abuse with those whole Novus Ordo crap. clown masses, rainbow clad priests spouting lgbtqabcdefg propaganda, a priests who is an anti-catholic, women in the sanctuary, disco masses etc etc etc. If bishop Sheen would see the state the church is in right now he would have converted to Holy Orthodoxy.
No human being has the ability to create life. Life comes from God. Women do have the unique ability to nurture in the womb the new person God sends, but that is not the same as creating life.
1:50 The primitive church was lead by the 12 apostols. Paul is the apostle of the gentiles, to him alone was revealed the Body of Christ. Christ is the head of the congregation. Men is the head of the house. The bride, always refer to the Jewish community, those who truly converted to Christ.
If the whole Body of Christ was revealed to Paul ALONE...Why on earth he had to go up to Jerusalem to discern about the circumcision or not of the new followers? Acts 15 "1.And certain ones, descending from Judea, were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” " "2.Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas made no small uprising against them, they decided that Paul and Barnabas, and some from the opposing side, should go up to the Apostles and priests in Jerusalem concerning this question." Moreover, why Paul didn't take this opportunity to found his only church just like protestants do today?
When Jesus was nailed to the cross, all the men that were with him and knew him well disappear in the nature. It was the women that have cared for his remains.
Because it was their job to do so. Men didn't embalm anyone. Also who do you think bought Jesus' tomb or approached Pilate for His body? He seems to be a.....a.....a man
I am a Christian, and I agreed with the RCC (Catholics) that Women should not be the HEAD of the CHURCH of GOD in Christ Jesus or be ordained as Priestess... why?... It is not about yours, theirs, or even my interpretation of the Bible, but the "WILL OF GOD."... (Matt. 7:21), "He who does the WILL of My (Christ) Father (God) will enter the Kingdom of Heaven"... "Matt. 12:50), "He who does the WILL of MY (Christ) Father (God) is my Brother, Sister, and Mother." We (mankind) have no right, to QUESTION God, nor to Challenge God's WILL... Some will ask, is God a racist?... a male chauvinist?... why St. Paul said this and that regarding women?... ETC... God has His REASONS why: 1. God created Man (Adam) first before Woman (Eve) from the dust thru God's Image and Likeness... (Gen. 2:7) 2. God commanded Adam to Rule over God's Creation (Ruler of the World) and to name all God's creation, and whatever name Adam gave so shall be their names... (Gen. 2:19-20) 3. It was from Man's Body/flesh and Blood that Woman was created (formed)... (Gen. 2:21-24) 4. The Glory of Woman is Man, the Glory of Man is Christ, the Glory of Christ is God... (1 Corin. 11:7) 5. It was the Woman who was deceived by Satan (serpent) and the FIRST to fall short (sinned) in the Glory of God. (Gen. 3 / 1 Tim 2:14) 6. The WILL of God is that Man to be the HEAD of the Family/Household of Mankind... (Eph. 5:22-23 / 1 Corin 11:3 / 7. The WILL of God that His Only Begotten SON (Christ Jesus) be the HEAD/GROOM of God's CHURCH... (Eph. 1:22) 8. God promised and had chosen ABRAHAM (not Sarah) to be the Father of All Nations of the World... (Gen. 17:5) Other LOGICAL Reasons why: (supported by the Bible) 1. St. Paul said, "Women in Faith," should KEEP SILENT (keep quiet) in God's Church (1 Corin. 14:34 / 1 Tim. 2: 11-15)... logically if you ordain women, they have the right to speak out about any Church matters and decisions. 2. Christ had chosen 12 MALE Apostles (no female Apostles but women can do "discipleship," like Mary Magdalene, Prescilla, etc.)... logically speaking, Christ obeys the WILL of His Father. 3. If God allowed both Man (Husband) and Woman (Wife) to be the HEAD of the Family... logically, who will take the Surname of their Children?... it will be CHAOS to have 2 Captains on a SHIP. 4. God created the PHYSIOLOGICAL and BIOLOGICAL Structure of Man GREATER than Women (not mental/psychological structure, I.Q.)... Logically, Man's Physique, Skeletal and Muscular Systems are Greater than Women, which is why women do not compete with Male Transgender in Physical Sports (not mental sports like Chess/Quiz games, etc.)... therefore "Physical Strenght" to Head the Family and to Head God's Church is preferred by God... why?... Women are WEAKER VESSELS (1 Peter 3:7) 5. God knew, if Men are susceptible to temptation, Women are more susceptible to temptation because Satan often used Women as Satan's OLDEST TRICK, since the beginning of her downfall in the Garden of Eden, to get Men in Satan's favor/power... logical example PORNOGRAPHY, what is the ratio?... 1:100... 1 male to 100 female porno artists... As the old saying goes, "Man's downfall is due to his weakness to Woman"... supported Biblically... Story of Adam and Eve, Samson and Delilah, Esther and the Persian King, etc... Have you ever wondered, why Companies in the Merchandise Business (ex. food/clothing) preferred more SALESLADIES than SALESMEN in Shopping malls, Fine Dining/Bars (waitresses), Groceries/Department stores, etc.?... you do the logic. 6. Logically, there were no Priestesses (Female Priests) chosen by God to work/administer in God's TABERNACLE/SANCTUARY/ALTAR since Moses accepted the 10 commandments of God at Mt. Sinai even up to now, but women can be Prophetess/Judge like Miriam (sister of Aaron = 1st High Priest) the first Prophetess and Deborah the first female Judge of the Jews/Israel... 7. Finally, God wants "Women of Faith" to always WEAR their VIRTUE of "MODESTY and SUBMISSION" to their HUSBAND and to the HEAD (Christ) of God's Church... Amen... Conclusion: it is not about what the Bible says that matters most, but it is a MATTER of GOD'S WILL... not yours, not theirs, not mine... but GOD'S WILL be done... that is the main ISSUE here... if we LOVE God, no argument, and no debate, no compromise, just OBEY and FOLLOW God's WILL... Like Christ had said to His Father, "NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS BE DONE." Let us Follow Christ's Examples... Facts and Truth, Biblically speaking... Amen...
All your Bible verses were written by men, interpreted by men, and I’m pretty sure you only agree with it all and call it God’s will because you are a man. Enjoy your delusion.
I'm Catholic , I have no issue with an all male priesthood, but this is a bad analogy. This is when people thought a man planted his "seed" in a woman and her uterine lining was the soil that helped the seed grow. It wasn't until the 19th century that the ovum was discovered and the realization that women also contributed to conception beyond their "soil" i.e their ovum was their seed.
You have no issue with an all male priesthood because you are taught by priests (men) to be SEEN and not HEARD. Religion, particularly Christianity, seems rather stuck in all things agriculture. The “seed” metaphor reveals a lot, so does the idea that men own chattel that included their women. That Jesus dies and comes back life is itself, an agricultural metaphor. Once again, seeds. Interesting how there are no HUNTER/GATHERER metaphors.
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 no priest has ever taught me I can be seen and not heard, In fact no man in my life has ever taught me that. I have learned a lot about Catholic theology from women. There are 36 doctors of the church, saints who have contributed to the interpretation of scripture and development of theology.; 4 of them are women. Catholics also see Mary as co-redemptrix with Christ. Hardly a religion that thinks women should be seen and not heard.
@@vanessa.jasmine - Your religion struggles with the notion of sex, women and the birth canal...but you think it’s ok for men to drive the narrative? Why do you think you came from the rib of a man? Why is Mary’s birth canal a one way street? All the monotheisms eliminate women, the bringers of life to the world, by making up fantastically silly stories. The Muslims say we came from a clot of blood. The devout Jews thank the Lord, “Our God, ruler of the universe who has not created me a woman.” There is one truism in helping people out of millennial poverty : It’s called The empowerment of women. Give women the power over their reproductive cycles, away from this animal cycle, give them credit and seeds...and the floor rises. It never fails. Name me one church that supports this notion. The Catholic Church said for years “AIDS is bad...but not as bad as condoms”. They WANT you to be ignorant and pregnant!
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 “There is an urgent need to achieve real equality in every area: equal pay for equal work, protection for working mothers, fairness in career advancements, equality of spouses with regard to family rights and the recognition of everything that is part of the rights and duties of citizens in a democratic State...This is a matter of justice but also of necessity. Women will increasingly play a part in the solution of the serious problems of the future: leisure time, the quality of life, migration, social services, euthanasia, drugs, health care, the ecology, etc. In all these areas a greater presence of women in society will prove most valuable, for it will help to manifest the contradictions present when society is organized solely according to the criteria of efficiency and productivity, and it will force systems to be redesigned in a way which favours the processes of humanization which mark the "civilization of love". -John Paul II I don’t how a church could want me to be ignorant and pregnant while simultaneously calling me to help redesign the world’s structures. “God's choice of the rib taken from Adam's side symbolically speaks of the equality of the partnership between man and woman. If men were meant to be superior to women, God would have taken the bone from Adam's foot to create Eve. If women were meant to be superior to men, God would have taken the bone from Adam's head to create Eve.”-Fr Maurice Mauro
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 Have you never heard of the term "analogy." Stop being so close-minded and let go of your pride and you might see the truth for what it is. As it stands, you're nothing more than conceited and ignorant, beyond belief.
This sounds like a false equivalence. I've heard of the word of God being like a seed such as in Luke 8. I've heard semen being referred to as a seed. I've never heard of the word of God being like semen. And seeing as he refers to himself as "spreading the seed to you all" in the video, I'm pretty sure he is referring to the act of the spreading the word of God like a farmer spreads seed not...the other logical conclusion. And the idea of "nurturing the seed of life" sounds like nurturing a child. So, I'm pretty sure semen is part of this equivalence in a metaphorical sense. But more importantly, this also implies that the ultimate role of the father is to sacrifice and the mother to nurture. That doesn't seem to pan out in a family. You can't just have the father absent while he sells his soul to provide the mother with resources to keep the children nurtured. The father must be present both physical and spiritually at some level, and the mother must sacrifice for her own children as well. The only way I can rectify this is the following two perspectives: 1. Men and women are different and have roles specific to them, but because man and woman are made to be together, the shared flesh means there is some overlapping of roles. Both have unique, complementary roles but neither are wholly distinct 2. The distinctness would come from perfection, and since the church aims to follow Jesus' perfect example, it must prescribe distinct, archetypical roles.

Fulton Sheen had much spiritual guidance to offer. This rewriting of the Gospels to perpetuate a falsehood regarding the role of women was not one of his better moments. Jesus as husband and his mother as his bride? Planting your seed in your mother? When one has to engage in rhetorical and logical gymnastics to prove a proposition, it is probably safe to conclude that proposition is false.
it's just his unique interpretation, he's philosophizing. never in my own philosophizing have i considered christ as the bridegroom to his mother, and that his telling her that john is her son represents any of what he is saying.
I agree with you that the interpretation is strange and not very convincing. The point can actually be made very simply and straightforward: men are meant to lead and provide while women are meant to help and nurture. These roles are both biblically and biologically based. If you deny them, you deny reality.
While he begins with a wonderfully rich metaphor the interpretation seems quite wooden. There seems a few issues if we take this direction logically to ta conclusion... did Christ not nurture as well? The rigidity between Christ as planter and church as nurturer seems odd. Also, if the church is the bride, the priesthood the groom, to say that only men can preach is like saying that only women can be in the church
Well most of the disciples were married and we have married priests already who are doing a wonderful service to God. They are married pastors who have converted to Catholicism and become priests. The most recent an ex Anglican North Of England Bishop who has become a Catholic priest. In my Archdiocese we have half the number of priests we had 30 years ago and more than half the priests are over 65. In the 80's we had an average of 5 ordinations a year now it is one a year. I have also read NT scripture where it says a good disciple /priest should be in good standing and be married. As much as I love Fulton Sheen he was talking about a Church with an abundance of priests 50 years ago ... We should be asking NOT how I would like to keep to the traditions I grew up with but How can we have a Catholic Church in the future given the assault of Atheists & a hostile media ... and a drastic decline in new priests
Traditional should never contort to the times, put simply. Yes, some of the Apostles were married, but Jesus was married to the Church. If the Priests are meant to be the representatives and actors of Christ, how can they honour his marriage when they themselves are in one?
@@luxither7354 Those who are ex protestant pastors and have been ordained as Catholic priests not only are married to their wives and have Children but are also in a wonderful union with God They have shown such unions are not NOT mutually exclusive !! As you admit the Apostles were mostly married men ... surely you are not saying Jesus choose his disciples wrongly !!! We have a severe shortage of priests ... in my Archdiocese most priests are over 65 Churches are being closed at a rate of three a year for the last six years ..... In 20 years time we will have less than 10% of the priests and churches we had in 1980 if we carry on doing nothing !!!
@@1234poppycat Jesus didn't choose his apostles wrong, certainly not. By that logic though, we should then trust the rules set up by the line of Bishops they set up, with one of the very early rules of Priesthood being chastity and an avoidance of marriage, due to their role as actors of Christ, and thus must honour his marriage with the Church. As for your claims, can you give actual evidence for these claims? Both the protestant priest turning to Catholic Priesthood while married. I could find plenty of Protestant priest turning to the Catholic church, but not any that then became a priest while being married. You also gave a stat that's completely conjecture and hearsay. The Church is true, as it has the Holy Spirit acting through it, making its existence ensured by God. If we are to die and cease to exist, then the Church as a whole is a lie. We are in a time of great strife in the Church, affirmed by the predictions given to past saints, such as that given by our Lady of Fatima, and thus we will have a contraction of size and many tests of faith to come. But since we live closest to God, through his Church, we must have faith that we will be true in the end.
@@luxither7354 1 There are plenty of protestant pastors with children who have become Catholic priests - get someone to help you do an internet search 2 The Fatima predictions were vague in time and meaning .. I trust the line of Bishops but encourage all to be open to Christ and not limit ourselves to past traditions ... do you agree with slavery ?? Of course not ... But as an early Catholic Christian you would feel directed towards it as part of the natural order .... Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 1 Corinthians 7:20-24 Each man must remain in that condition in which he was called. Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that. For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord’s freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ’s slave. Colossians 3:22-24 Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. 1 Timothy 6:1-2 All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against. Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but must serve them all the more, because those who partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and preach these principles. Titus 2:9-10 Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect. 1 Peter 2:18-21 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable. For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. ...... The rapid decline of Catholicism is already in train we do not have to accept this !!!
@@1234poppycat the discipline of chastity among Wester Catholic priests is just that, a discipline. It can be altered but I feel it’s a beautiful thing. If priests being allowed to marry was capable of solving the priest shortage the eastern Catholics would far outnumber the priests in the west. This isn’t the case, therefore this isn’t a celibacy issue. It’s something else. I believe it stems from the decline of the TLM.
Christ is the renewal of man(kind) in the image of God. This position predates the cross because it is immortalized in the Hebrew language, a language said to be given by God Himself. The Hebrew word for man is ish and the word for woman is ishah. Ish, spelled aleph-yod-shin is differentiated from ishah by the letter yod. Yod is a singular point and it represents a seed, both the seed of thought and the seed of life. It also represents a hand, signifying men to be manual laborers. We can see this in the men we know and the men of history: we are laborers, thinkers, and impregnators. The Hebrew word for woman is ishah, spelled aleph-shin-heh. It is differentiated by the letter heh, which is a yod (seed) surrounded by a box with an opening. Heh represents revelation or to bring forth. Think of words such as hallelujah (praise the Lord revealed) and hamashiach (the savior revealed). In this way heh not only looks like pregnancy, but it means to create and nurture into being itself. Yod-heh, YH, between man and woman is God. We do not create but He who creates creates through us. A person who is concerned with their position is too self focused when God showed us how to find humility. We should think of our spiritual gifts as God’s markers for our divine purpose. Males and females are different and it is by our nature to think differently and function differently. Only the blatant rejection of reality can bring people to the conclusion that men and women are interchangeable in all these aspects.
What are these mental gymnastics? Why is the man shouting? Why would a woman want to be a priest unless she is called to it, and why would God call her if any of what this man says is true? Mary is the new Eve? How does this have value for married couples? Your real wife is your mother? The metaphor is weird. You know priests don't marry because of a rule made to curb nepotism, yeah? -It's just a man-made thing. Since a law prescribing a male-only priesthood isn't commissioned anywhere in the Bible, are we sure that this is not also a solely man-made thing? There's nothing natural about any of this. It just seems deeply, deeply confused.
Everything you’ve written absolutely reeks of the same confusion the devil bombarded Luther with in his time. The marriage Fulton speaks about is not that of the sacrament of matrimony where two people take vows to lead one another to Heaven, he is speaking about an inseparable union of two entities. He uses the word marriage instead of covenant because a covenant is an agreement, an oath/promise between God and man, a marriage in this context is a supernatural union. Jesus giving St. John our mother Mary is an allegory for Jesus giving man His church- His bride. The Catholic Church is not manmade, for God made the church, and therefor the tradition that only men are priests, which was instituted by Jesus Himself, shall prevail forever.
@@solarflare2137 Mary is the church and John is humanity? “[Dear] woman, look, [here is] your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple (John), “Look! [here is] your mother [protect and provide for her]!” Sounds to me more like John (and the rest of us) are the church and Mary is our mother.
@@atenschun6254 look, if you want the real reason that only men can be priests then the answer is that all the apostles are men therefor only men can be priests, and the apostles only appointed men into positions of authority and through tradition, we follow by these guidelines. I found his expression of clear anger around the 4:00 mark disturbing. Frankly, I don't trust "holy men" that get pissed off during a sermon. I think the anger arose because his explanation was unconvincing and deep down he knew it. Men give the seed so they are solely qualified to be priests? I find that a rather weak argument.
Have you not seen his other preachings? He always gets like that, not out of anger, but that's just the way he speaks. You need to try harder than that to make your dismissal less ridiculous

@@Xymage He isn't saying "Jesus is married to the church", that's extremely basic Christian teaching. He seems to be saying "John being bound to Mary is the start of the marriage with the church" which I've never heard before and sounds pretty absurd. Glory be to God! Catholicism isn't just a religion it's a way of life!

Therefore the Church is Divine."

Those who have not learned and do not know their faith (Catholic) would never be able to understand Bishop Fulton's explanation.
Satan is trans
Catholics stick to their tradition only when they like it
@@MarcillaSmith The Word being a man’s seed is an analogy to show that in the same way there is that function between a man (seed giver) and a woman (seed nurturer) in a family, there is the parallel to be drawn for how a Church (a different kind of family) should function - male priest gives the seed (the Word of God) and females listen and nurture their children by teaching it to them.

No one comes to the Father except through me."...He doesn't say "Me+Saints"...I would like to know where you get this doctrine from....is it scripture or from the Catholic church...coz if it is the Catholic church, then it is your church tradition...and the bible has ceased to be the sole authority...or maybe that's what you believe, that the church can contest the Holy Scripture.
While He is, are we not encouraged to spread the word of God and pray for our neighbors?"
You say it is true Christ is the only mediator and then??? He is either the only one or He is not the only one...Scripture says He is the only one, the Roman Catholic church says No! Him and dead saints...I just wanna hear a justification for this practice, coz it certainly is not in the bible...and you just misused 1 Timothy, we are told to pray for one another, talking to the living , not a single mention. even vaguely, to praying to the dead,, that's very blasphemous to be frank. Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, says Only Him, your church says, No! You disagree with the Head of the church?
Totally agree. Women priests in Protestant churches seem out of place. Women are not meant to be priests, we have a very different role in the Church.
what is the "different role"?
What a wonderful word of truth...we need to hear this more from our pulpits today in america...
I wish we had so many more priest like him and sisters like mother angelica.

Honest genuine querries:
"sacerdotal consecration"...does it ascribe spiritual/supernatural powers to the priest?
@@angru_arches
Brother in Christ, David, allow me to respond to your intelligent queries:
(1) Yes, I believe in transubstantiation, because
(a) Jesus taught it:
John 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
(b) Paul affirmed it:
1 Corinthians 11 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
For a much more detailed analysis of infallibility, I provide you with this link:
www.catholic.com/encyclopedia/infallibility
(4) Acts 17:11 "Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so."
"The more noble believers searched scripture themselves to verify what those on the pulpit preached and taught...because scripture, which is available to all, is the final authority".
(a) the scripture the noble believers were searching was the Old Testament
(b) they were examining to see if Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah of the Jewish People
(c) your biblical quote does NOT say anything about final authority
(d) The Apostles were the authority for Christians, and Peter was the final authority:
Acts 2:14 “But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: ‘Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.’”
Acts 2:38 “And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
Acts 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’”
(5) "Is the Priest an equal in status to Christ? "
Of course not. The Lord Jesus Christ is the 2nd Person of the Most Holy Trinity, the Incarnate Son of God who willingly suffered & died for our sins, to be raised to New Life to offer us Eternal Life in the Trinity. No human being is equal to that.
At the Divine Liturgy, the validly ordained priest acts in the Person of Christ (In Persona Christi) by the Command of Christ Himself
Luke 19 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

A. Transubstantiation:
Jesus first refers them to the desert bread, manna from heaven, which sustained them kept them alive...so He makes the connection that He is indeed the ultimate bread, that whoever eats of Him will live. He is the giver and sustainer of life to those dead in sin...if it was indeed his actual material flesh and blood, why did he use baked bread and wine and not just tear off chunks of flesh from his body and pork His veins for His blood?? I urge you it was representative...even the manna He explains was a Type of Christ...He says he is the door...does it mean church doors are literally Christ? Or that he was a literal opening to heaven? No! Jesus came in a normal human body, which was killed and buried, not eaten...He is called the last Adam, not adam incarnate; He is the Word, not an actual utterance; He is the vine, we the branches etc etc....it does not say that the molecular composition of the dough in bread becomes human flesh...you have partaken presumably, did it taste like meat? And did the wine have that metallic taste of blood??...again it's imagery...
B. "The Word of God does not contradict itself, does it? Yet, these leaders, all claim the Bible for their authority, and yet they teach vastly different precepts. Which one of these do you follow, Brother David? Or, are they all wrong? If so, how do you know? "
No, the word of God does not contradict itself, man's understanding is flawed.
"Yet, these leaders, all claim the Bible for their authority, and yet they teach vastly different precepts."
Actually No!
C. ""the Pope, cannot & will not teach any Dogma that is in error," "That power is from the Holy Spirit, given by Jesus Himself." "based on Matthew 16:18 & 19, when Jesus gives Peter the keys to the kingdom""
Jesus did not give Peter the keys to the kingdom.
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
See how in chapter 16 you claim it is said to Peter, and in 18 Jesus is saying this to all the apostles. So which is which,is it Pater, is it all the apostles, or is His church built upon the confession that Peter made, that He is the Son of the Living God"
👆👆 Please Answer This.👆👆
"(d) The Apostles were the authority for Christians, and Peter was the final authority:"
Absolutely not! The apostles were the direct eye witnesses converted by Christ Himself, including Paul...Paul even says "Gal 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed."
Even them, the apostles, no one is exempt, nobody's above the scripture.
Even you point it out here "Acts 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’”" Not themselves and with Peter as the absolute final authority.
Bro, Peter, Paul, John, they are all dead...Jesus is alive and will not share His glory with man; " ‘We must obey God rather than men.’" Precisely, FROM THEIR OWN MOUTHS!!!
FINALLY : "At the Divine Liturgy, the validly ordained priest acts in the Person of Christ (In Persona Christi) by the Command of Christ Himself"
Jesus did not ordain Priesthood, all the scripture you've attached there says nothing about the validity of ordained priests..those verses are just about keeping the practice of Communion...no priesthood, no "in the Person of Christ"...that one is a completely made up liturgy by the Roman Catholic church....btw, the reason I qualify it as "Roman" Catholic is because it did not exist until Rome embraced Christianity, before 313 AD when Emperor Constantine, the church had no head but Christ, our only Bride Groom...Peter had been dead almost 6 Centuries before the Papal supremacy was established.
AMEN FULTON SHEEN !♡
The instructions of GOD are foolishness and a great offense to those who are perishing, but to ALL those who are blessed to BELIEVE, it is the power of GOD that brings salvation: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. As a woman, I completely understand the role differentiation and I'm grateful for it.
Amen.
Amen God. Thank you Bishop
And both of those churches, (As well as all others that aren’t the Catholic Church) are imposters
It's not the Queen who is head of the Anglican Church but the British sovereign. And that is unrelated entirely to what the Most Venerable bishop is talking about here, for the British sovereign doesn't carry out any sacrament. She does not assume any priestly role.
Man provides the seed, woman provides the egg
He's a saint.
He definitely is. Let’s pray the church recognizes what we have.
Has he actually been canonized?
@@jakec947 No not yet.
bishop sheen would have been defrocked and excommunicated if he would preach like that in this day and age with the entire vatican being overtaken by far-left woke anti-christians
Hmm, interesting that Jesus actually came to life through a body of a woman. Not sure this argument is particularly effective,
" Jesus was a man made in the likeness of God, thus he shall not come to life during the Mass in the body of a woman."
Careful. The Creed is "Begotten, not made; consubstantial with the Father"
Junia was an Apostle. Junia was a woman. Junias was not an Apostle; this was a falsified translation of the name Junia.
Who cares what a power hungry homosexual says 🤡
I have many of his teachings on video and tape.
Therefore the Church is Divine."

Except…the world doesn’t hate this type of church. Those in power love it. What the world actually hates is equality and justice and inclusion for the poor and the minority and the oppressed. The Son provides the seed and the Blessed Mother receives it?
She is the symbol of the Church. The Church is the bride, Christ the bridegroom. This imagery is throughout the New Testament.
Evidently Jesus is the seed but if Mary speaks she will ruin everything so it's a bunch of creepy guys spreading disease to eachother in the man cave while they demand mommy make children for them to molest and carry the tradition.
I admire Sheen a great deal, but boy was he was out on the weeds with this one. Hopefully Queen Mary has set him straight.

The serpent seduced Eve and she n turn dragged Adam down with her. They both fell for Satan's trickery. Jesus, on the other hand, resisted the Evil One. As a Catholic woman, I do not care to be a Priest.
As a catholic woman I agree with Bishop Sheen
If only Bishop Sheen could see clerical ecclesiastical issues now. We have entire Dioceses and Archdioceses of the Catholic Church sued to the hilt because of priestly sexual infidelity, yet we had at least one female Protestant "bishop" who bought her lay leaders several hundred dollars in unwanted sex toys, and she was given nearly $500,000 in a "golden handshake" at her "retirement" only to reassume her clerical office mere months later.

Is he saying that the mother is the son’s bride?
In the Old Testament, the Mother the King was the Queen. Therefore it connects to the OT and is fitting. She is Queen, not Bride.
This is awesome. Back in the days when our church wouldn’t paint those sinful rainbow colors on its doors for the sake of ‘political correctness’
Women have the ability to create life. God is our father and Christ died for our Sins.
No human being has the ability to create life. Life comes from God. Women do have the unique ability to nurture in the womb the new person God sends, but that is not the same as creating life.
women also have seed, just little reminder
1:50 The primitive church was lead by the 12 apostols.
Paul is the apostle of the gentiles, to him alone was revealed the Body of Christ.
Christ is the head of the congregation. Men is the head of the house. The bride, always refer to the Jewish community, those who truly converted to Christ.
If the whole Body of Christ was revealed to Paul ALONE...Why on earth he had to go up to Jerusalem to discern about the circumcision or not of the new followers?
Acts 15
"1.And certain ones, descending from Judea, were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” "
"2.Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas made no small uprising against them, they decided that Paul and Barnabas, and some from the opposing side, should go up to the Apostles and priests in Jerusalem concerning this question."
Moreover, why Paul didn't take this opportunity to found his only church just like protestants do today?

because this is religion for males
I am a Christian, and I agreed with the RCC (Catholics) that Women should not be the HEAD of the CHURCH of GOD in Christ Jesus or be ordained as Priestess... why?... It is not about yours, theirs, or even my interpretation of the Bible, but the "WILL OF GOD."... (Matt. 7:21), "He who does the WILL of My (Christ) Father (God) will enter the Kingdom of Heaven"... "Matt. 12:50), "He who does the WILL of MY (Christ) Father (God) is my Brother, Sister, and Mother."
We (mankind) have no right, to QUESTION God, nor to Challenge God's WILL... Some will ask, is God a racist?... a male chauvinist?... why St. Paul said this and that regarding women?... ETC...
God has His REASONS why:
1. God created Man (Adam) first before Woman (Eve) from the dust thru God's Image and Likeness... (Gen. 2:7)
2. God commanded Adam to Rule over God's Creation (Ruler of the World) and to name all God's creation, and whatever name Adam gave so shall be their names... (Gen. 2:19-20)
3. It was from Man's Body/flesh and Blood that Woman was created (formed)... (Gen. 2:21-24)
4. The Glory of Woman is Man, the Glory of Man is Christ, the Glory of Christ is God... (1 Corin. 11:7)
5. It was the Woman who was deceived by Satan (serpent) and the FIRST to fall short (sinned) in the Glory of God. (Gen. 3 / 1 Tim 2:14)
6. The WILL of God is that Man to be the HEAD of the Family/Household of Mankind... (Eph. 5:22-23 / 1 Corin 11:3 /
7. The WILL of God that His Only Begotten SON (Christ Jesus) be the HEAD/GROOM of God's CHURCH... (Eph. 1:22)
8. God promised and had chosen ABRAHAM (not Sarah) to be the Father of All Nations of the World... (Gen. 17:5)
Other LOGICAL Reasons why: (supported by the Bible)
Logically, Man's Physique, Skeletal and Muscular Systems are Greater than Women, which is why women do not compete with Male Transgender in Physical Sports (not mental sports like Chess/Quiz games, etc.)... therefore "Physical Strenght" to Head the Family and to Head God's Church is preferred by God... why?... Women are WEAKER VESSELS (1 Peter 3:7)
Amen...
Women create life. Humans come from a woman's body. Guys just wish they had this power and access to children for sex.
so every priest should be a Jew because Jesus Christ was
Bible is only a male perception of God and the world, that’s why as a woman i do my own observations and draw my own conclusions
All your Bible verses were written by men, interpreted by men, and I’m pretty sure you only agree with it all and call it God’s will because you are a man. Enjoy your delusion.
Address the problem and youll have your solutions
The devout Jews thank the Lord, “Our God, ruler of the universe who has not created me a woman.”
There is one truism in helping people out of millennial poverty : It’s called The empowerment of women. Give women the power over their reproductive cycles, away from this animal cycle, give them credit and seeds...and the floor rises. It never fails. Name me one church that supports this notion.

-John Paul II
I don’t how a church could want me to be ignorant and pregnant while simultaneously calling me to help redesign the world’s structures.

The only way I can rectify this is the following two perspectives:
1. Men and women are different and have roles specific to them, but because man and woman are made to be together, the shared flesh means there is some overlapping of roles. Both have unique, complementary roles but neither are wholly distinct
2. The distinctness would come from perfection, and since the church aims to follow Jesus' perfect example, it must prescribe distinct, archetypical roles.

Way better clear and succinct that Gregory Pine's or Bishop Barron's long winded and watered down egg shell argument.
Fulton Sheen had much spiritual guidance to offer. This rewriting of the Gospels to perpetuate a falsehood regarding the role of women was not one of his better moments. Jesus as husband and his mother as his bride? Planting your seed in your mother? When one has to engage in rhetorical and logical gymnastics to prove a proposition, it is probably safe to conclude that proposition is false.
i find this disgusting too. i am a cradle catholic.
it's just his unique interpretation, he's philosophizing. never in my own philosophizing have i considered christ as the bridegroom to his mother, and that his telling her that john is her son represents any of what he is saying.
You don't understand what Fulton Sheen is saying.
@@rowanaforrest9792 I understand what he is saying. It is rubbish. It has no basis in the Gospels.
I agree with you that the interpretation is strange and not very convincing. The point can actually be made very simply and straightforward: men are meant to lead and provide while women are meant to help and nurture. These roles are both biblically and biologically based. If you deny them, you deny reality.
Thank you for sharing
Very convoluted. The church began at Pentecost. Mary was not the new Eve.
Boring.
With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
1 Corinthians 7:20-24
Each man must remain in that condition in which he was called. Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that. For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord’s freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ’s slave.
Colossians 3:22-24
Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
1 Timothy 6:1-2
All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against. Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but must serve them all the more, because those who partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and preach these principles.
Titus 2:9-10
Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
1 Peter 2:18-21
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.
Actually his argument turned out to be in favor of women ordination when he called the Church a "Family"
