I dont think you mentioned your collar when you were talking about what you wear and when you wear it, what it symbolizes and when you don't wear it. Thanks.
The collar is just an old fashioned collar that was standard in Europe a few centuries ago, so when it started out it was also to do with simplicity & modesty but it's just fallen out of normality since. Some clerical shirts have the modern triangular collars but now the old style has become a cultural signal that the wearer is an ordained priest so most keep the old collar! ♡

When my younger kids were little, they got into an argument at Mass. Here was a 4 year old and a 3 year old arguing whether a priest was in persona Christi when vested or all the time. "He's a priest, his name is Father, and he comes to our school," said the 4 year old. "His name is God, but he's only God when he wears the tablecloth. All the other times, then he's Father," the 3 year old retorted. As they are 21 and 19 now, I'm sure they have a better grasp on the subject.
I'd love to hear more about priests and celibacy... I've heard that some parts of the priesthood are discipline (celibate) that could be altered without doctrinal change, while other aspects are inherent to the office of priesthood (Catholic, male) and would take a change in the Catechism to shift. I'd love to know more about this, especially in light of the Amazon Synod!
I visited St Charles Borromeo Seminary a long, long time ago. Such a beautiful and inspirational place. The cathedral is gorgeous, I had one of the best experiences visiting that place.

Hi Alexandra, some of these replies I didn't feel expressed God's mercy as well as they could've, so I thought I'd post my own :) I have zero clue on your own situation or if you ask purely speculatively, but I just want you to know children conceived in any situation are beautiful and reflect the Glory of God. Though intercourse is reserved for marriage, God doesn't love moms who got pregnant outside of marriage any less than when they were virgins. He's so good, and He is always eager to forgive in the Sacrament of Reconciliation... and thank goodness for that, because God knows how much I need His mercy :) I just wanted to make sure it's clear that shaming unmarried moms, post-abortive parents and dads, and children born from wedlock has no place in the Church. We want them to find healing and forgiveness in the home that belongs to them, the Catholic Church :) Wishing you all the best!

Wow, even Fr. Mike's emo impression is amazing! (In addition to his grasp of theology) 😅 It's really great that he explains popular questions about the Catholic priesthood. 🙂👍
I have a couple follow up questions if that’s OK! How much free time to priests have in a day/week? Does it ever get lonely? Are there rules about what kinds of activities priests can engage in (beyond the general counsel all are encouraged to follow)?
I can help a little with that. So, very broadly, a diocesan priest is assigned by his bishop to somewhere in his diocese. A religious priest is assigned somewhere on the planet by his superiors. In both cases, there can be a conversation about what your skills are/ where you could be best used - but the decision would be ultimately be up to the superior in either case.
We had a really lost family move in next to us in our little quiet neighborhood in Southern Delaware... drugs, DV, knife fight in the street (I kid you not), violent gang jump-in event... UGGGG. Our priest who did the Latin mass came over for dinner with us. When they saw him, the people on the neighbor's porch said... "Priest!" and ran away!! Father did a blessing on their house, and they all moved out within a month! And then he blessed our house too. Great love for the Catholic Church here!! Thank you Father Mike for all that you do! Great Priest! I'D like to thank father Mike for cheering me up during this pandemic time. Also, i came across him while I was going through some anxiety issues. God somehow connected me to this channel in which daily I'm fully engaged. God bless you father Mike and all of your followers in the name of Christ

Dear Father Mike,
My dad wanted me to ask you the following question. "Have you ever been involved with an exorcism and what members are needed to participate?" Thank you for any input you may have. Have a great day and thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,
Anthony
God bless you and enrich you with Grace. The joy of Christ you exude is really contagious.
God preserve the Priesthood till Jesus returns. Amen
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fr. Mike is such a young soul!
Father, How about a segment about the role of the Permanent Deacon in Catholicism....
I'd love to see Fr. Mike Schmitz and Dr. Mike Varshavski talk
Amazing! God bless you fr. Mike!
I visited St Charles Borromeo Seminary a long, long time ago. Such a beautiful and inspirational place. The cathedral is gorgeous, I had one of the best experiences visiting that place.
I spent 5 years there - 1960 - 1965
@@joeburch9515 Should I cal you Father Joe?
Great job Father God bless and keep you working for His people 🙏
I'll become a priest in 2 years 🥰
Really enjoyed the explanation about "disappearing into the vestments"
Hi Father Mike! This isn't related to your video on priests, but I would love it if you could do a video on Vatican ll. I would love to have some straightforward information on the purpose of Vatican II and what happened during it.
MaryKate Larson i second this!!
I think bishop baron did a video on this.
Read the book by John O’Malley on Vatican II. It’s been recommended to me by a Jesuit, who also says it’s very readable and informative.
And the kissing of the ring?
MaryKate Larson God’s glory is shared with ❤️ and joy.
Blessings from our holy father and prayers to our lord and savior is a regular activity at St.Peters Basilica in Rome.
i don't have anything in mind, i just wanna say thank you for being an active instrument of God. 😇 i'm one of your Filipino fans Fr. Mike.. 👍🏻
You should do more of these "answering Google searched questions." Loved it!
Father Mike does a great job!
Do one about the internet's most asked questions about Catholics
Fr Mike has a sense of humor ,straight to the point and loves being a priest.God bless you Fr
Father please talk about getting pregnant out of wedlock
@@mamatlacuacha Lovely story Jennifer, God protect you and yours. 👍
In the olden days, you had the baby in secret, and had it taken from you forever. Not sure what happens now though.
@@audreynelson2198 Beautifully said Audrey, too many of our young women are left feeling alone andd without a church support system when this happens, even today.
Wow, even Fr. Mike's emo impression is amazing! (In addition to his grasp of theology) 😅
It's really great that he explains popular questions about the Catholic priesthood. 🙂👍
I have a couple follow up questions if that’s OK!
How much free time to priests have in a day/week? Does it ever get lonely? Are there rules about what kinds of activities priests can engage in (beyond the general counsel all are encouraged to follow)?
What about the white tab on the Roman collar, Fr. Mike?! It's the best part à la the last two chapters of "the Exorcist" by William Peter Blatty!
Do priests get assigned their parishes or diocese or do they have some say?
Also, what are the tracks to priesthood?
