    I'm not worried about McCarthy at all. Although, I would love less talk about him tbh. He's a 21 yr. old rookie who is going to have a lot of growing problems; commenting on each bad day has zero upside imo.

      Coller said he wouldn’t stir the pot or overreact, but that doesn’t make for good clickbait so he flip flopped . CJ Stroud looked like shit in the preseason last year but yeah let’s overreact to JJ in 7 on 7s in early June.

    I have no problem with Sam Darnold starting the whole year. At all. And it's no big negative for JJ Mac to hold the clipboard for a first season. How long did Aaron Rodgers stay on the sidelines watching Favre play? Very few Rookie QB's are ready as a Day One Starter. Remember Jared Goff? He looked like a bust his first year. It happens in a QB's first year in the NFL.

  • @fardrives

    they are probably changing his footwork/throwing mechanics, which would explain the accuracy issues, etc.

  • @Basspundit
    @Basspundit Місяць тому

    Given his history, I think Darnold was put in a position to succeed this year if he and the team can avoid the injury bug. I will be kind of shocked if that isn't the case; There are just so many weapons team-wise and Darnold has to know it's now or never. I think getting a wild card is a real possibility and winning the Division isn't out of the picture if the Vikes don't run into any major injury issues beyond Hock's absence to start the season, while the other teams have normal to bad injury problems.

    When you change someone’s mechanics they get worse before they get better so not sure why everyone is so surprised he’s been inaccurate the past few days. Once it becomes muscle memory he will be fine and then take off. Btw others said he actually looked good today, so maybe it is starting to be more natural.

    As with all the rookies, until they are in a game no one knows and even then it's going to take some time. Caleb Williams could stink up the field in preseason and still be a good QB, the only reason to panic would be if Sam Darnold was looking like 💩

    Kobe Bryant essentially sat a year….. That worked out well. JJ sitting for a year and learning the NFL is brilliant….. he is a winner that will refine his craft for a year and be a much better QB in 1 yr. If he stayed in College he would likely be #1 pick

  • @robe2504
    @robe2504 Місяць тому

    Has everyone forgotten that Kirk was really bad for his first 3 seasons?
    He was arguably even worse than Darnold and he was able to sit and learn behind RGIII, and wasn't thrown into the deep end on a bad roster like Sam?
    Kirk was 30 and beginning his 6th season when he arrived at Minnesota. Kirk's first 3 seasons were 2 wins vs 7 losses, 18 TDs vs 19 INTs, and had completion rates of 64%, 52% & 62% so he was far from ideal. Sam's first 3 seasons were 13 wins vs 25 losses, 43 TDs vs 38 INTs. Kirk slowly became an efficient, productive QB, and Darnold is working along that same path.
    Darnold almost got the Panthers into the playoffs in 2022. Sam went 8-9 with the Panthers - Baker, Bryce Young and others are 5-28.
    There is no reason why Darnold can't end up playing at a Cousins level or better. Shanahan saw it. So did KOC.

      JJ's ceiling is much higher. He already has the things that make him a starter but with a few tweaks and corrections the coaching staff believe he can be an ELITE QB. Jaran Hall can only reach good bacc up status or maybe even average game manager at best.

      @MaxJulien936 or maybe it does make sense and you just don't understand what I said. I read it twice just to make sure and it makes perfect sense. But I'll attempt to break it down for you. If we were throwing darts and you've been throwing darts for 5 years and I just started yesterday but we are equally good. Right? You get that? Ok. If a team of competitive dart throwers needed a player they would picc me over you because in 5 years I'm gonna be 10x better than you because with out much experience I'm already at your level. They wouldn't picc you because it's been 5 years and obviously you have peaked. Perhaps you could get a little better but clearly my (ceiling) is higher than yours.
