Mullens is a bona fide#2.. absolutely counterproductive to rush JJ. To start. 26 yr old Sam is highly motivated, has the talent around him and will have his best year as a pro..sit ,learn jj his day will come.
0.1%. I think it's more probable that JJ doesn't start at all in 2024, than him starting in week 1. Darnold was pick 3 with 6 seasons of NFL experience, JJ was pick 10 with zero NFL experience.
With this staff? You'd probably need to be legally dead not to progress. Either way, Darnold will most likely be gone, no matter what, after this season.
I hope that if Darnold struggles during the season that they don't rush McCarthy onto the field. A season watching learning and getting his mechanics locked in, and that he solidly knows the offense and that he is ready to play at a fairly high level so that he feels good about being on the field. Maybe if he is practicing well and knows the offense and Darnold is struggling letting McCarthy get a couple of games at the end of the year would be okay as long as his mechanics are solid.
Well for those us that have hung with this underachieving, cursed franchise for decades, we probably already know how this pans out. Darnold will start and play well enough to lead the Vikings to the playoffs where they might win one and done. Then the Vikings will let him walk and not resign him as insurance, then start 2025 season with JJ and JJ won't lead them to the playoffs and Jefferson will ask for a trade and the Vikings will honor it and it will be rinse repeat. I am sorry to sound so negative, but this year is a wash. I think they barely pull off 8 wins and that is their ceiling and 5 wins is their floor. The only way the Vikings pull out anything resembling a great year would have to be something like when they had Case Keenum and I doubt that is happening.
Its possible that mullens stays on the roster and that he gets the start if darnold is bad. Mullens has his issues, but he can run the offense, and feed JJ. Hopefully our run game is better so he wont have to play as much hero ball, but he remains an entertaining option if darnold is horrible
@@puppethound on paper, the team is pretty good outside the ? at QB. Top 3 WR duo. Top 3 TE room. Top 3 tackle duo. Top 10 RB room. Top 5 safety room. Top 10 pass rushing room. Top 10 LB room. Question likelihood of JJM Being #2 or #3 for start of season 2nd question the likelyhood of team having so many tough depth cuts, that they go with 2 qb( which would mean JJM #2 OVER Mullins
Darnold will start for a few weeks. JJ will get a chance at some point in the first 6 weeks. Once he gets a chance it's over. He'll be the guy after that and have success.
I’m buying Dallas Turner and selling the interior offensive line. 95% chance Darnold starts game one, 70% he starts 16 games, if Darnold plays 16 games he ends up with 28 TDs and 12 INTs, and Vikings will have a better than .500 record.
Darnold led the NCAA in turnovers and was still the first pick in the draft. Everyone thinks they can prevent him from being a turnover machine. Same with Mullens. They are who they are. You win with them when you don’t let them throw 30+ passes a game. They need to play Zimmer ball and pound the rock to win.
I do understand that you like JJs approach, where you said you don't feel he is coming in acting arrogant as if he will just automatically be handed the reigns of the team and that he starts at the bottom of this mountain and know he has to work hard to reach his potential. I get that take and yeah it is nice to be humble, but for me I want the QB to be an alpha dog, while at the same time leading his team. Tom Brady wasn't athletic coming out of college, but he was sure his time would come. He KNEW that his abilities were good enough to win and he believed in himself and was sure and that type of self awareness wears off on your teammates. Kirk was/is a good QB, the reason people people were always down on him was because he doesn't win a lot of games and that's because he is humble, and has that "aww shucks" vibe going for him. That may make him likeable, but it sure as hell doesn't win games. I just hope JJ has more of that assassin gene in him and that competitive fire to win, no matter what. So my take is have some confidence and belief that you have the ability to win games and let that confidence flow into your play.
Where is being realistic about the process an indicator that he isnt an alpha dog? Dude just led his team to the national championship but knows the plan and milestones he has to hit. How and when he hits those milestones puts him in the starting position. Nothing JJ said was any indicator that he didnt feel like his time wouldnt come or that he didnt believe in himself. I would much rather have a QB who is confident but grounded, than one who comes out with a " Ra Ra" attitude and is delusional about the skill gap from college to the NFL/ where he is at in the process
@@ahastar1141 sorry that what I said triggered you so much, but what I meant was I would rather have someone who comes with the attitude that "this is my job, my position, my team" than what we had in Kirk for the last however many years, talented QB, but no real dawg in him. That's why the Vikings didn't win a lot of games. I hope he is not like Kirk Cousins with his approach
Humility and confidence aren't opposites. The ideal is you're humble enough to realize your need for growth and listen to good teaching, but also trust yourself enough to step out there and do your best.

No one that is drafted has nfl experience, except for Justin Jefferson because he was training with Patrick Paterson when he was younger 😂
another great show guys...keep em coming
Gunna be interesting if JJ doesn't progress and Darnold has a 28 td 10 int type season do you pay Darnold?

38 TDs and 16 int's SB winner and MVP
If he throws just 23 TD that means we projecting to score under 10 points per game through the air. 🤔

No chance he starts.Unless Sam gets hurt in PreSeason.
