Thats hilarious !! 🤣 it takes so much practice like for me my problem is i cant smooth out the bottom because the dual form comes off or moves around eveeeery time
Neonlights same, I think a lot of people use those electronic files. Usually, mine are ending up slightly too thick, but they don’t move too much anymore for some reason :)
I made ALL of these mistakes plus some when I first started, lol. When I do my own nails with dual forms I tend to prefer to do it a bit thin and then after curing, I add a 2nd layer to the top and build my apex. I've had them last over 4 weeks that way.
So do you put more gel in the dual form and repeat the process or do you just put the gel directly on the cured first layer on your finger and then even it out with the brush?:)
I just love dual forms. I cant use acrylic because it causes contact dermatitis due to the monimer. I tried dip powder with nail glue and tips, but was never satisfied with the end result and they broke off too easily. Dual forms were a total game changer for me. Now my nails look professional and I’m proud to tell people I did them myself when they ask who does them.
I was just going to ask about this! I'm allergic to acrylic so I was wondering if polygel would irritate my skin. Would your cuticles and fingers get super itchy and bumpy with acrylic too? I want to give polygel a try but I'm afraid it'll cause the same reaction acrylic did...
I'm wondering the same. I experience the same thing with acrylic and have been doing dip powder. I'm going to order mine now and hopefully it doesn't irritate me 🤞🏼
any product can cause contact dermatitis if you get it on your skin. if you don't have the correct product ratio, and the monomer leaks onto your skin, yes, you will end up with contact dermatitis due to the acrylic.
I have been using the poly gel nail system at home for months. I have watched tons of videos and read lots of tips. My major problem is the dual form slides off my nail while I am working on the underside. This is the FIRST info I’ve found about how to prevent that. I tried curing the base coat like normal then wiping it lightly off. Worked the first time! I now have a set of beautiful nails!!! Thank you so much
As a nail tech, I don't use dual forms anymore when my clients want polygel extensions. I find paper forms much easier to use and are mess free. But for beginners, this is great 😊
@@allystar1785actually dual forms are supposed to be easier because it takes out two steps: learning how to sculpt which is an entire technique on its own and a lot of filing
I always struggled. But the last time I did my polygel with nails forms, I did it twice, thin-ish with the clips to press the forms down so it cures. I like how it came out. Perfect thickness (for me)
I love the fact that she was very specific about every single material used in this vídeo for example if she used slip she said and if she used alcohol she said it. Great job!!

I'm trying my nails for the first time. You are the first one to remind me not to put to little and to only press ever so lite. I just had to restart my nail. Thankfully I'm only on my first nail
What a great tips. I did polygel for the first time and took me so long to get the right lenght and then the next morning the tips break 😌 Today i will try you’re tips.
I really like your video but for me the straight dual forms are way better than the curved, I don’t think it’s a mistake to use straight dual forms but I still really appreciate this video!🥰
The only thing I don't understand.... Why can't I use those model ones duel forms u showed in the beginning? U said they're too flat.. but I don't know if I agree???
I just did my nails yesterday using dual forms and polygel for the first time. I watched countless videos and they all made it look so easy! (as they usually do). However, during application, when I went to try to smooth the underside of my nail, it kept pushing the dual form up! I tried resting my hand on the table so that the form was against it, and then pressing the product flat underneath, but it still pushed it loose. Then when I would try to push it back down, it would squeeze product all over my finger. It was a mess! What did I do wrong? How do you smooth the underneath without pushing the dual form loose? Thanks for the video!
I have the EXACT same problem. I was wondering if it has to to with the brand/quality of the gel... But I have two different brands and it happens with both... Someone help us please 🙏
Yes, it might be challenging with some product, especially thin consistency. It is better to hold the dual form while cleaning the product underneath - but not press. If it squeezes a little - it's ok, just immediately clean it with the brush Try to find the position where you can hold the dual form and clean the product underneath at the same time (i know, sounds too hard, but possible)
I’ve found that once you have shaped the product in the dual form, let the slip solution you use dry off from the surface. Also, as this video said, wipe off the sticky layer from your base coat. If you do these two things, when you put the form on the nail both services will be dry enough to stay attached to one another without having things move. You barely need to wet your brush to smooth the underside. If that fails, I haven’t tried tried these yet, but apparently there are clips that you can buy ( most likely from anywhere you bought the polygel ) that can gently hold the form in place. But my go to technique is using a cheap paper form under the dual form. You don’t need to put it on as precisely as if you were sculpting, so no matter how you put it on it will keep the underside smooth.
Ohh ive had the modelones forms.😍 Both the flat ones and curved. I found the curved ones (my preferred shape) didnt fit my nails. I would for sure need clear clips w them. So i tried the flat, as my nails naturally have a good curve. And it worked nicely. Stayed on about 13 days before i needed a minor touch up. Do wish the curved fit better tho. 😩 As someone whose done at home acrylic, builder gel, and poly, (u can use forms for all btw) i HIGHLY recommend the poly for beginners. Especially if you will be applying them to yourself. Also, get a pack of clear clips off amazon!! (If they clamp too tightly, just bend the metal coil slightly to loosen the clamp/clip strength w some needle nose pliers. Shouldnt have to though). The clamps keep the form in place while curing under ur lamp. And i found them to be A god send even w the flat forms. Also INVEST IN A DRILL. A basic one is fine. But, it will cut down your application time by half, if not more. And you cant beat the ease of clean up and shaping with an electric drill. If anyone needs any links for any of the above (including an awesome poly gel beginners kit, comes w everything u need to do many full sets) lmk. 😁 And GL to all u quarantine DIYer's!! You got this! 💪👏💅😍 This video is a GREAT place to start ofc as these rlly are easy mistakes to make. A few YT vids and mindfulness will save u a ton of trial & error.👌
I have the first dual forms you mentioned. I thought I did something wrong, but my nails have a natural intense curve so it makes sense that the forms are popping off or too straight once they come to the extension part. I filed down the bulk from underneath versus the top so it has a very odd shape right now. I'm also going to get a neon set of polygel to get a better idea of where the gel is going, and so I don't grind down to the nail plate itself. It's hard for me to tell where the gel ends and my nail begins.

Every time I use dual forms (mine are Rossi) with gel or with polygel, the form will lift before I get it under a lamp to cure. I've tried using more product, less product, different sizes, pressing the form harder onto the nail hoping it will stick long enough to cure in place, but it never does and if I'm not quick enough I end up with big bubbles or ridges where the product is pulled between the nail and the lifting form. Any suggestions?!?
Exact same thing happens to me. I end up with giant air bubbles. I thought it was the dual forms I was using but I've tried others and they did the same. So frustrating when you see all of these videos of beautiful, quick easy nails done using dual forms and I can't get them to work to save my life!

I truly believe these forms are fantastic for those that can’t afford to get their nails done by a pro or can’t due to COVID. I will never use them as an option with a client. It’s takes away too much of the process and beauty of sculpting a nail with a true nail form. I will use tips but those have to have straight side walls and a deep C curve. I just don’t think a nail tech should be offering duel form service. I understand that they could double their earnings by seeing twice as many clients but it’s not worth it to me.

Maybe your nails are too oily? Mine fell off after several days and I think it happened because I didn't dehydrate them before starting to put base coat on
I watched so many videos on this and did it for the 1st time came out great. Did it 3 more times same result but lost all my nail forms moving so I stick to the dip powder.
demi hiscoe I think am going to try this is not my 1st time playing with poly gel but I find that it do not turn out the way I would like with the dual form so may maybe I will try nail tips
What drill and drill bits would you recommend for under the nail? I would love to learn with your tutorials. I am new but I am very interested in becoming a nail tech. Ty for your help 😃
I feel like I apply enough and every time I place the dual form on my nail it never stays there without bubbling back up and me needing to hold it down..😫
Karen P. I gave up with the dual forms and am just using tips and it works soo much better. A bit more time consuming because I know the whole point of the dual forms is less filing and what not but idk for me they just haven’t worked and it just gets too messy. So try some tips maybe!
I am thinking about doing dual form nails so I am watching how to do them and these mistakes will make it much easier to see what I can do wrong thanks!
Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but is it possible for you to link the cone bit you used to clean up the cuticle area and sidewalls? Thank-you and excellent video :)
I found this cute little kit on Amazon, but I had no idea what poly gel was, but I'm so glad I found this video. First of all, girl! You are so talented 😍. This video was super chill too, I immediately knew I didn't want this product because, well, because I am basic asf sitting here with my KISS press on's 😂😂😂😂. I still stayed for the whole video!

I am learning to use polygel and some dont's to mention is that not enough product or thin application will give you air bubbles. To avoid air bubbles make sure the product is not too spread to thin. Another don't is if you use too much liquid it will not cure properly and will slide away from the nail bed.
When I apply the "base coat" the nail ALWAYS lift entirely after a couple days. Now I'm trying to just apply primer and it's working better, but I still think I'm doing it wrong
I saw 70% alcohol and not primer on a different video. She said it worked better for her. I haven't done the nails yet. I'm watching different videos to see which one I'd like to follow.
Hi nice helpful video. Question for you. I have strong nails. I had gel nails once and when I took them off my nails were weak and very soft in the middle of nail bed. Does polygel do the same to your nails?

@@bethan2850 Maybe nails aren't for you or you just need to pay to get them done. Done mine two weeks ago and still in tact.
This is awesome! I just started getting into polygel and have had so many issues. These videos help so much!!!
You are so welcome!
I really love this channel already, well done! Looking forward to seeing more😍😁
Thank you!
Just did polygel nails on myself for the first time. Its a little thick and dusty but i love them 😊
but how much is enough :( how do you know when you've not put enough polygel in the dualfill
I think it just depends on how long you want your nail but I could be wrong /:
Ikr .
This is my issue!
I watched so many videos on this and did it for the 1st time came out great. Did it 3 more times same result but lost all my nail forms moving so I stick to the dip powder.
I tried poly gel for the first time last night I definitely struggled i think nail tips would easier than dual forms personally
demi hiscoe I think am going to try this is not my 1st time playing with poly gel but I find that it do not turn out the way I would like with the dual form so may maybe I will try nail tips
demi hiscoe Girl me too
What drill and drill bits would you recommend for under the nail? I would love to learn with your tutorials. I am new but I am very interested in becoming a nail tech. Ty for your help 😃
I feel like I apply enough and every time I place the dual form on my nail it never stays there without bubbling back up and me needing to hold it down..😫
Flash cure it for 5 seconds.
Even when flash curing the forms pop up and pull the nail with it. I’m considering rubber bands to hold the forms on🤷♀️
Karen P. I gave up with the dual forms and am just using tips and it works soo much better. A bit more time consuming because I know the whole point of the dual forms is less filing and what not but idk for me they just haven’t worked and it just gets too messy. So try some tips maybe!
Kayla so you use poly gel with tips?
venus louise Yes, works great for me I’m on week 3 with the tips I applied with the polygel over them.
I am thinking about doing dual form nails so I am watching how to do them and these mistakes will make it much easier to see what I can do wrong thanks!
😘💯 new subscriber definitely needed to know all these things before I purchased my kit
Thank you for sharing these tips. I have not used poly gels yet and this video is very helpful.
Why it's remove so easily... and don't stay for just one day why?? What I should do??
Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but is it possible for you to link the cone bit you used to clean up the cuticle area and sidewalls? Thank-you and excellent video :)
Great video Anastasia, very informative for new dual form users. I still prefer the dual tips. Thanx so much for sharing that!
XO Luna 💅🏻💅🏻
Thank you Luna! Do you use dual tips with deep curve or regular ones?
Nailcou I use the ones with deep curve, I purchased the ones you had on your video. Best investment I’ve made!
XO Luna
Oh I see. Yes, those are awesome!
I've got to find me some new forms!!

Your milk bath nails are extremely pretty!
Thank you :)
I am learning to use polygel and some dont's to mention is that not enough product or thin application will give you air bubbles. To avoid air bubbles make sure the product is not too spread to thin. Another don't is if you use too much liquid it will not cure properly and will slide away from the nail bed.
Your accent was kinda satisfying ngl 😂👍
Love how she says apex. Reminds me of Lithuanian accent
Thank you for yhe golden pieces of advice teacher Anastasia 🌸🌸🌸😘😘😘
When I apply the "base coat" the nail ALWAYS lift entirely after a couple days. Now I'm trying to just apply primer and it's working better, but I still think I'm doing it wrong
I saw 70% alcohol and not primer on a different video. She said it worked better for her. I haven't done the nails yet. I'm watching different videos to see which one I'd like to follow.
If it works for you then its right! LOL
What I've learned from all these videos is that there is absolutely not a one size fits all method for nail prep lol
Hi nice helpful video. Question for you. I have strong nails. I had gel nails once and when I took them off my nails were weak and very soft in the middle of nail bed.
Does polygel do the same to your nails?
Hi, from Colombia 🇨🇴😊💞
Please, Could you translate the explanation of the video into Spanish, thanks🙏 -> CC

I just want to grow my own original nails 🥺
For help with that I recommend watching Simply Nailogical. Cristine has great advice on helping to grow & take care of natural nails. Plus she's funny & her nail polish line is amazing quality. Hope this might help. 💕💅

This is the perfect video and answers many questions I was needing answers to.
This is all wrong
Oh my plenty to see keep in mind. Not done any nails in ages but I have all materials but what do you clean the brushes with? And do you use prime or just a gel base coat. Thanks
I recently tried polygel for the 1st time. I literally made every one of these mistakes!
your videos helped me so much! thank you!!!!!
I’m not a professional, and I’ve made all these mistakes in the past. :(
but during COVID19, it’s been fun doing my nails and learning from my mistakes. :)
Great tips , thank you for sharing . I consider buying a begging polygel kit and your advises helped me a lot. Thank you
