Didn't even realize it until I had finished BOTH hands - but I used my nail polish remover instead of alcohol!!! Still got about a week out of my nails though, not beating myself up. It was my first time! :)
Really good video! I picked this up as a pandemic hobby. I'd done my own acrylics in the past, and after reading about polygel I decided to try it. I'll never go back! I've made several of these mistakes, but the first ones were not prepping my nails correctly and using cheap polygel. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. I use pre-forms, and they help with getting that curved shape. I've tried doing it without the pre-forms and they just don't look right. I also use alcohol for a slip solution (70%), and it works great as long as I don't use too much. Definitely had an issue with that in the beginning. I rarely have lifting issues, and if I do it's either because I didn't prep the nail right or it didn't cure right. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!
I made all these mistakes on my first time. Though Im able to figure out how to do better by practicing on my own nails. This video is very helpful. Thank you Anastacia! 😊🙏💅
So useful! I used to add the product way too thick at the beginning...but practicing helps...the sidewall mistake I have never done but what you said about it makes so much sense. Thank you so much for this!
It would be great if you do polygel application with the plastic forms. I ALWAYS get stress breaks on the sidewall facing me at the end of the fingertip. You are awesome, thank you!
Just tried poly gels with dual forms for the first time the tips broke off in a day. I think it was the apex and to much liquid they were soft in the middle. I’m going to try again thanks to your video. I think I have found the problem.🥰
I just tried polygel nails. They keep peeling off after a few hour. I didn't know too much liquid causes problems. That is def my problem. The brush is practically dripping when I use it.
I’ve definitely made thick jellybean nails my first couple of tries. I always had a little lip under my nail from where I couldn’t smooth out my polygel under my dual form and also not have lifting bubbles around my cuticle. I just recently got my new order of sticker nail forms in the mail and my nail shape is immeasurably better. Screw a dual form😂

I've definitely put the polygel too close to my skin. I have very deep set nails so the skin around them is so, umm, meaty?? Lol. It's so hard for me to get close to the cuticle without getting my skin in the way. I used your tip to put a small clip on the underside/pad of my finger to pull my meat away from the nail and that really helps! Great video, like always!
Greetings, I’ve had the same problem but I don’t understand her problem solving with this. Did you understand how to fix it and if you understood what she said can you answer me about it and how she fix it....thank you in advance for your help....
I did my poly gel for the first time. Took my hours shaping and I did a great job. I used the Makartt brand. Thank you for the mistakes because I was wondering why their base was a little sticky. I subscribed a while ago.
Im guilty of using too much liquid. I used the dual forms to create my nails and since it was my first time I didn't think it was ok for the brush to sort of stick to the product which in turn made me unconsciously thin the product out too much for some of the nails. When I cured them some turned out completely hollow so I kinda just stuffed them with extra product lol 🤦♀️ Now when I began to file them off just about every single one was still gooey in the middle. This video seems very helpful so I'll keep it in mind for the next time. Thanks so much!!
I have used too much liquid , applied product too thick . I also have used a polish remover as my slip and still do at times but never had any issues doing so . What do you recommend when a polygel is super sticky ?
It depends on the ingredients, some of them will work if they don't contain oils. For super sticky polygel I can also recommend any thin consistency soak off base coat - lightly apply on on the brush. I use polygel liquids and 90% alcohol works pretty good
I think sometimes I use too much liquid because the gel is stiff. Q: Could I maybe put the tube in a cup of hot water a few minutes to soften it a bit? With the lid up of course. I really love using it. You get more time to play. It has help with my acrylic application. You have to work faster with acrylic, but I can really see a difference when I do my nails. Thanks for your videos.🌹💅🏾
Thank you so much for doing this video. I had figure out what I did before I watched this but you confirmed it. I didn’t wipe the tacky layer of the base coat.
I recently started using polygel and did in fact notice that the base coat was sticky when it came out of the lamp. I did not wipe it for fear of causing the polygel not to stick. I had one heck of a time with slipping and I was unable to shape the underside of my nail without the entire dualform slipping off. For the last two weeks of my attempts I have had lifting, cracking and breaking. I am now too irritated to mess with them again because I know that I will get upset and sling the stuff across the room. lol.. I am now watching every single "how to" video so that I can get this right. At this moment I have my left hand with a full set of 5 nails and my right hand with my thumb, middle, and pinky finger only and those are lifted, and chipped. (eye roll). When I tried fixing my left hand I was already so irritated that I was going to try and make sure that I was going to get it to stay. I remembered how strong the Rhinestone gel nail glue was and I drilled down the lifted parts and prepped the exposed nail and then covered the exposed nail with the rhinestone gel glue. It worked. I am not going to continue that because I only have a small amount. I want to accomplish the polygel anyway. I just can't seem to get the apex strong enough and keep the product off my cuticle. This time I am just going to leave an orange stick space and just keep practicing. If anyone has any tips that might work for me please let me know.
I skipped the Apex on my first attempt because I thought it's just a trial. Now that I see your video, I see many mistakes I made. I had no idea. Plus, you included things I doubt I would have thought of at all. I feel so much more confident in my next polygel try. Exactly what I needed to know! Tysmfs 💕 💅

I use polygel liquids and 90% alcohol works pretty good
I read non acetone polish remover with a little of 91% alcohol
I put to much liquid on and it was awful underneath and I didn’t wipe off the sticky layer. Super helpful♥️ thank you
This video is so informational! I apply my polygel on the Cuticle/ it bleeds over and the lift after 24h!
Yes, placing the product in warm temperature will help to make the consistency thinner for a little while, but be careful. do not heat it too much
Thank you for the reply.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I had figure out what I did before I watched this but you confirmed it. I didn’t wipe the tacky layer of the base coat.
Thank u for the tips, I definitely needed to remember how to apply in the cuticles and the sides 🥰
Thank you so muuuch!! I started doing my own nails and after watching this i learned so much!
Thank you so much, that's interesting about the pinching to make them look more elegant I definitely want that technique . Thanks again!!👍🏽❤
Thank you!! This was very helpful!!! I do the mistake of using too much liquid. 😅
If anyone has any tips that might work for me please let me know.
glad I found this video, my base layer is sticky so my poly gel was sliding and I didn't know why!! thank you!
4:02 Perfection wish I could get mine that perfect near the cuticle
Iv used my own nail out of habit during my years to swipe around the cuticle. It helps in a hurry. So far so good, lol!
Wow, very good tips. I was really educated. Thank you for taking the time to share.
This is a great video! The tips you gave will definitely help, regardless of what brand we use. Thank you for sharing your expertise. 💅🏻💗💗💗
I skipped the Apex on my first attempt because I thought it's just a trial. Now that I see your video, I see many mistakes I made. I had no idea. Plus, you included things I doubt I would have thought of at all.
I feel so much more confident in my next polygel try.
Exactly what I needed to know! Tysmfs 💕 💅
Thank you so much for this video my nails keep breaking and now I think I have the right ideas to do them correctly!
Very helpful! Thank you! I am one of those who uses too much liquid and end up with it running into the cuticle and sidewalks, leaving no perimeter. So thanks so much.
Thank you very much! After only three days my nails start lifting! Now I know why :)
Hi Anastasia! I'm having trouble applying potted gel polish (soft) close to the cuticles after a dry (Russian) manicure. Please do a detailed how-to! Much love from Puerto Rico!
All right :)
Thank you!! Your tutorials and information is on point and very well done- thank you!!!
Thank you for your videos, very informative and useful.
ALL of them thankyou Anastasia I'm a newbie learning
Brilliant tutorial❤
My polygel nails are popping up at the cuticles. I think it's because I'm not doing it thin enough at the cuticle or edges. And it's too thick at the tips. This video was extremely helpful xx
Great video, thanks for the information 😊
These tips are very helpful. I thought it was simple and easy as these yt vids make it seem to be.
So helpful! I have learned so much from you!
Good tips. Thank you. I used to much liquid and too thin layer and my nails were not sticking. I will try your advice. :)
this was a very helpful video! thank you!!
Great video! I have used too much liquid (I use 70% alcohol). I’m also guilty of too close and thick! I also thought something was wrong with my white and some other colors! I literally thought I was crazy!!I Thanks for this video!
I think I did like 8/10 of these wrong 😂
Lol girl😂😳DAMN
Me too
Just starting out to do my own nails. Thank you for your video. I now know why the nails remained sticky underneath, and also why one broke.
