My ass apparently is crazy i'm considering getting one as my first then following month get another one a mate but i have done lots of research hence why i'm here listening too you
I'm gonna look at your enclosures price em so guess i need a juvenile enclosure because the babies i'm getting are juveniles. So meal worms are good are bettle grubs safe i ask because they look like they'd provide excellent nutrition for my babies
Mine is a model citizen. I love her a lot. I think she is just kinda unique personality wise. Every pulcher or cambridgei I have had has been a monster. My mom stipulated that I can only have one spider when I move back in, and I have rarer Ts than her but I decided to take her with me as my one pet spider. She is really special to me.
I dig these care and husbandry videos, they are a great way to spotlight the animals as well as provide valuable information about them, getting people away from petco/petsmart b.s. rhetoric. Keep up the great work, I thoroughly enjoy checking these out!!
Lol petsmart told me I needed a heat lamp for my A. Avicularia. Poor guy was there for several months and his price went from $50 to $7 and I didn’t want him to be thrown away so I got my first T awhile ago and he has been awesome.
Brachypelma Hamorii was the first tarantula I held to overcome my phobia, I held one a rescue group had once for an event at a petstore and since then I've fallen in love with them
@@cadaverousghoul8008 my first was a Chilean Rosehair back when they were all over the place, maybe they still are but when I managed a pet store in the early 2010's we always had one Chilean and one Pink-Toe at the shop at any given time. Surprisingly we never had a Brachy Hamorii, which is the T I own now!
My girlfriend snagged one when we first started dating. She loves hers but rarely ever sees her...i see her every night though. Such a beautiful species i love feeding mine.
I had mine since she was a spiderling for about 11 years from about 2002. Her name was Valentine. I loved it when you said they can teleport! 😂 that’s pretty accurate! I was so lucky I got to observe her doing all kinds of things. She must have felt pretty comfortable to be out a lot as an adult. I love the tips about multiple hides and at different levels! All this time and I had no idea they were sexually dimorphic 😬🙄 The males look a little like P. cambridgei Great video!
I can definitely vouch for that teleporting ability, oh ma gosh. I love the Suntiger due to not only that wicked coloration but also the fact that it's basically an old world T that's from the new world... hehe
Richard, you are the Brian Barczak,Dan Mulleary and Dav Kauffman of the spidey world. Im a snake, turtle, and frog guy since I was 9. Just recently,I started watching Monster Bug Wars with Brian Frey and Linda. I found myself feeling sorry for the Huntsman,Tarantulas, and the Wolf spiders always losing to the scorpions. Im not afraid of spiders,I used to catch what we called "violin spiders" in Illinois. Then my interest was peaked. I started watching your videos and others and Im started to appreciate and like them. I can see myself getting into this hobby soon. At one time,I had 43 snakes and bred corns, kings, bulls, pines, yellow rats, garters. Had 3 Retics,2 Burms,1 African Rock but the South African which is smaller,3 boas. At that point I learned,as Im sure you know by now, there is a fine line between a fun hobby and a chore. Cleaning that many cages is no fun,and it wears out quickly, especially if you like to fish, flyfish, hunt etc. Keep up the great work. I live in Pennsylvania and go to the Hamburg reptile show. Are there any spidey shows I should know about? I go to NJ,Md,Del,Va shows now.
Currently caring for my large 5cm sling of P irminia along with a younger P victori. This genus is an an absolute beast to feed, super resilient. They make the most fascinating burrows in their sling vials, my irminia loves to make multiple openings whiles my victori makes sloped semi holes with dirt tunnels. I can absolutely vouch for anyone considering, this genus is FAST. Buggers fly out when you try to feed! Then again, all slings do lol. Overall, absolutely fascinating genus and so happy I have two wonderful babies to grow.
Awesome species, and definitely one of the 1st ones I had on my want list getting into the hobby. They are a good middle ground for those wanting the more exotic species new to the hobby for several reasons including affordable price, common availability, and ease of care typically. I had already gotten one when I got a sling on a whim for like $20, and luckily I did as the other was male and sling is now a female around sub adult age. Not only did it eat like a beast (all Psalmopoeus slings I've had eat this way) but it grew just as fast as the poecilotheria regalis I got at the same time and size, and it really didn't need much environmentally past typical care. As juveniles the genders look pretty identical until the males hit the molt changing into the dymorphic look. But I did notice despite the similar colors the males had jet black carapass, and the female has the black, but with that dark emerald sheen to it I didn't see on the male. Have you seen a male Psalmopoeus Cambridgei next to a male Psalmopoeus irminia? If they aren't labeled they would easily be mixed up lol. I honesty think in both the wild and in captivity that getting mistaken is responsible for at least a few of the other psalmopoeus species, and possible it was intentionally created in some cases who knows. Another theory I've noticed I would be curious on your opinion of involves the irminia, and the Martinique pink toe (Carabina versicolor). The carabina versicolor has similar stripe marks on its abdomen as slings that we see on the Psalmopoeus species, that get harder to see under the hair as they mature that is not covered by the Psalmopoeus having no urticating hairs. This same pattern is just like we see on the Psalmopoeus, and most of the Avucularia's are alot like the Psalmopoeus more then most other genus's I've seen. Anyway picturing all the variables I honestly think the Psalmopoeus victori is a hybrid from Psalmopoeus irminia, and the carabina versicolor. I've been seeing patterns that suggest a number of tarantula species could have originated from such things especially looking at the Brachypelma genus, and was curious on your thoughts pertaining the matter? Sorry about the long winded banter on my part, but it was another great video bro thank you!
I rescued a mature female P. irminia from a terrible situation along with 4 more Ts. The irminia was kept in a very bad terrestrially setup tupperware container with no hide or cork or even water. She is really defensive and illusive and I think it is due to how she was kept for so long. She was so hungry and dehydrated when I got her. I also have a 2" P. irminia sling that I got from Tararntula Canada. Its the cutest thing. Since its most recent molt it never hides anymore, so unlike my mature female who is NEVER visible. I love her regardless.
Me and my son watches exotic lair, but I'm preferring your channel now. He is a good channel, obviously loves his spoods, but having a face to a voice is nice, and you are much more informative, and show casing one species at a time, makes my 5 yrs old, who now loves ts, a lot more focused. Ty!
Great video, as expected! Mine was pretty curious up until it went into premolt hiding, and usually came out whenever I went into the closet to check on or feed the other Ts, so I got to enjoy her a lot, and tried to reward her with a feeding at regular intervals. She just molted, so I hope she doesn't become too secretive and I don't see her. She's definitely one of my faves.
Once again, nice shots, great videography, and an informative video! Hope you do a nhandu tripepii or cyriopagopus sp hati hati (my local species) Cheers!
Beautiful P. irminia! You certainly did not disappoint when you said to keep an eye out for this week's video. Did not know the dimorphism was so defined between the males and females! Makes me really hope mine turns out female but that's a ways off and they're still gorgeous as slings and the males are wonderfully fluffy. Any chance for a Cyriopagopus lividus or Pelinobius muticus vid in the future? ;D
Once again Richard, beautiful T and I recently picked up a P.metallica and a 10 T Monocentropus Balfouri communal. Take care and I'll see you after I'm released from hospital.
I got a P. irminia couple months ago at 1/4" and it already has molted 2x and close to 3/4" Very pretty already, color is showing on the legs and the chevrons are coming in, but actually would like if it were male bcs i want a greyish fuzzy T haha. yes fast! omg it can teleport 2" in it's little AMAC
Your videos are top notch, my dude. I really dig the up close shots you take that really show off just how beautiful this T is. It’s a shame that it’s as shy and secretive as it is though. I know what it’s like having an amazingly beautiful but also incredibly shy and secretive animal from keeping red eyes crocodile skinks. Not seeing them very often is a bummer, but having a beautiful naturalistic terrarium to enjoy looking at until they finally do emerge makes not seeing them very often a little easier as well as making it all the more worthwhile when you finally do catch them out and about!
Awesome coverage, your own experiences mixed with general knowledge/know how makes for solid content. I'd add info/experience of rehousings with the species you cover. If there's something interesting or particular in their behavior during such a transfer. Would ease at least my mind to have a heads up/brief recount since we all know how rehousings can go worst-case.
Thank you, this video really helped me to know more about the species. I got this as my first t and I know that it sounds a bit unprofessional, but I've done my research on how to take care of ts and watched a lot of videos from different people for over a year now. I promise to take good care of it and be careful. And, as cheesy as it sounds, I named it Angel. I'm not sure of its gender though, because sometimes it seems to be black and other times brown. I have my fingers crossed for it being a beautiful female but we'll see :)
This is one of my all time favorite Ts. I think I’m finally going to pull the trigger this weekend and get the sling at the exotic spot by me I just can’t pass it up such a beautiful T
Mine is very skittish and bolts all the time. Richard was right about these guys teleporting. It's hard to even keeping an eye on them because when you blink they are gone. Lol but still love this T.
I just got an acanthoscuria geniculata as my first T and this will be my next T this spring. Geniculata is already too slow for me. It's a shame they are all so small. The big ones aren't colorfull, the colorfull ones are not very big... I really love these species for their speed. Also great vid as always.
3 years ago, sold my tarantulas, thinking now to start again if I start my first I will buy 3 irminia spiderlings, Couse I wana have girl again, unbelievable, beautiful, best tarantula in the business
I just got a sling of this species and was told it was New World and it was my first expo. It was GREAT but I need to learn about what I have. Thanks for always being here.
Just purchased my P. Irminia sling....suppose to be my bridge to OW but went ahead and got a P. Muticus and C. Darlingi too, lol. Keep rocking bro...great content!!
Very beautiful T. There were plenty of these at my local exotic store at one point but never pulled the trigger on getting one. Excellent video buddy. Very informational with great content. Thanks Richard! Oh I appreciate you accepting my Instagram page. I appreciate your support
rock on ! thank you..i am glad you enjoyed the video. Be sure to check out my past videos...I am in the process of learning to shoot and video..so the further back you go, the rougher the videos are..lol
This is one T i wanted for a long time . i went to an expo in march and couldn't help myself i bought 3 and im so happy i did they are just gorgeous and good eaters . One sticks its little toes out at feeding time and takes the food from me of course thats my favorite. Got to love those toes 😆
Richard, love your videos,I watch them all as well as Tom Morans,Deadly T girl. Im a snake guy but for 4 months Im hooked on T's thanks to yall. I will shortly join the hobby but not like I did with snakes. The snake hobby creeps up on you fast. You buy one snake, then you want another species then another. Pretty soon you have to dedicate an entire room for the snakes, then youre breeding for color....before you know it,what was once a hobby is now a chore everyday. Im sure you already know this. A buddy of mine had a T years ago and would call me to come over when he moulted. I watched your vid on the 5 tools you need to start. Great video, much appreciated. But I caught something I wanted to make you and others aware of. I sent Tom a text on this too. Plastic bottles, unless they are BPA free are deadly toxic to everything and everyone. Matter of fact, bottled water IS unhealthy. If water is left in the bottle over any length of time at a temperature over 65 degrees, the toxins in the plastic are released into the water. For a person, the effects of BPA poisoning mimic lyme disease or fibromyalgia. Severe aches in all joints, nauseau, vomiting, headaches. If untreated, the poisons shut down the kidneys and liver. The effects on a T are obvious. As long as the bottle goes into refrigeration it shouldnt be a problem, but I wouldn't take a chance personally. Im in food marketing so I am well aware of it. Just thought Id pass this on,hope it helps but for everyone reading this text, dont buy bottled water unless its BPA free, you dont know where along the trucking line of distribution or the warehousing this bottled water was exposed to higher temps.
I actually received a free P.irminia in my recent C.cyaneopubescens purchase. I almost bought a Sun Tiger on its own, so was super excited to find out I got one for free with my order!
My juvenile (had it for 3 days) is out in the open a lot and spends most of its time in the top half of the enclosure. She also seems to be really relaxed when it comes to outer disturbances. She never flees. Seems like I'm lucky 😏
Man I got my second p. Irminia. I forgot how fast they are but didn't forget how stunning they are. Never knew the the fang action was that potent. Very interesting learned something new.
After all that, I’m starting to think my P. Irminia is broken 🤣 That’s awesome the females stay that pretty color (don’t get me wrong males are pretty too) makes finding out if mine is male or female a lot easier 😁 A wonderful Tarantula to have in the collection for sure. Great video & thank you for sharing.
I didn't realize this was an arboreal! I see people recommend these all the time so it was cool to learn more about them! The females are beautiful. Sorry if I missed this in the video, but what do you use for substrate? Eco Earth/Coco fiber? Another great job, thanks for the video!
Subscribed last week and just purchased a 3/4" sun tiger yesterday. This is the first sun tiger I have owned since entering this enjoyable hobby 30+yrs ago. Extremely fast even at the 3/4" size. Reminds me of my P. Regalis Indian Ornamental when eating/hunting. Readily taking down small crickets with authority. I can already tell this will be a good eater. I hear they grow fast, hoping it will be a quick grower like my female P. Regalis Ornamental was. Love your videos. Thumbs up!
80% ish humidity, keep it warm. Give it places to climb, they like to hide on ground level more when about in inch. Give it like 1 1/2 2 inches of substrate so it can dig.. mine likes to dig instead of climb often
Great video, man!! I noticed you did the Mexican Fire leg. But can you do the Mexican fire knee next? But if the care is the same, I can just refer to the fire leg.
Awesome. I have been waiting for this video! Psalmopoeus is my favorite genus. My little irminia sling just got her black and orange colors with the last molt.
My male passed last month, unfortunately. My Male G.Pulchripes followed. Both were a ripe old age. My Irmina was such a lovely fuzzy gray....he looked almost like P. Cambridgi. I’ll miss both little dudes.
I realy love these husbandy/care videos. It provides great insight of these Ts and I'm checking every time here before I buy a new T. Thanks to these videos I can have at least an idea if I can keep a specific species as a beginner. My Hapalopus sp. small and B. albiceps are on their way to me (they will be transported by car, I'm trying to avoid posting Ts, and search for dealers whom visit my city often and can bring my Ts safe and sound. Irminia also on my list together with Chromatopelma cyanopubescens (sorry for butchering the latin name...). I just simply fall in love with tarantulas 😊
Sweet! It is awesome to have you on the channel and WELCOME to the hobby. I put out new videos every Tuesday and have about 50 episodes of tarantula Tuesday so far on the channel! I hope you enjoy the rest as well.
@@tarantulacollective thanks! Watching the top 10 t's at the moment. And I think I'll spend the rest of the night in your channel. Already took a peek in your Amazon. Really helpful for me as a begginer
Hi bro new subscriber. I gotta say your videos and content absolutely blew me away.. so interesting and informative. Your my new favorite spider guy!!!!!😆🙏🏻😉
Thanks a lot Chris! I am still learning how to do this whole UA-cam thing...only been making videos regularly for just over 30 weeks...so I'm still learning how to use the camera and edit videos...but i try to learn something new each video and tweak stuff so it looks a little more professional. Hopefully in a year or two the quality will be a lot better :)

I'm new to the hobby and your videos are my new passion.
I havent been able to get enough footage of my elusive cobalt blue to make a video on it yet, BUT you can check out my video on the GBB here: ua-cam.com/video/XArqZZZL1Pk/v-deo.html
YOOOO AWESOME VIDEO!! Just picked my sun tiger up yesterday at the All ohio reptile show in Hilliard Ohio . She’s about an 1 1/2 and very colorful! Can’t wait to watch her grow and breed!
there is never a "double clutch" after a molt. When they shed their skin, they basically are virgin again since the spermathecae and Uterus externus are shed too.
This video couldn't have came out at a better time, I just picked up a P. Irminia Saturday, and it's honestly, one of my first Ts. I raise "hot" scorpions, and I wanted something a little different and a but more challenging. I figured this T was it lol.
That's awesome! I have been interested in getting some scorpions myself...so far I've only managed to acquire an Asian Forest Scorpion that I rarely see...lol.
@@tarantulacollective lol I have 2 Leiurus Quinquestriatus (Deathstalker), a Hottentotta Hottentotta that just had babies, a Parabuthus Transvaalicus, Parabuthus Schlechteri, Androctonus Bicolor, Androctonus Australis, and the only 2 that aren't "hot" are my Diplocentrus Whiteis. I had a Leiurus Jordanensis (Black Deathstalker) but it got shipped cramped, and I couldn't get it any better, and it died. I rarely see any of them unless I'm feeding or rehousing them lol.

I promise to take good care of it and be careful. And, as cheesy as it sounds, I named it Angel. I'm not sure of its gender though, because sometimes it seems to be black and other times brown. I have my fingers crossed for it being a beautiful female but we'll see :)
Super awsome video brother loved the map of the earth that's cool and the sun tigers are super stunning
Thanks so much.
@@tarantulacollective no problem looking forward to another one about a different species 👍🕷🕸
I'm first time T owner. Mine 5 arrived today plus one of these as a freebie. Your video has been an awesome help. Thank you from the UK
just purchased one of these! cant wait for the new addition
I just got an acanthoscuria geniculata as my first T and this will be my next T this spring. Geniculata is already too slow for me. It's a shame they are all so small. The big ones aren't colorfull, the colorfull ones are not very big... I really love these species for their speed. Also great vid as always.
I did, in fact, get a freebie sun tiger with my last order. Looking so forward to nurturing this T.
3 years ago, sold my tarantulas, thinking now to start again if I start my first I will buy 3 irminia spiderlings, Couse I wana have girl again, unbelievable, beautiful, best tarantula in the business
That was awesome. Love it. One of my favs. Keep it up! 🤘🏼🕷🕸
New to this channel, gotta say this is one of the best made Tarantula videos I've seen. I'll be sticking around
rock on ! thank you..i am glad you enjoyed the video. Be sure to check out my past videos...I am in the process of learning to shoot and video..so the further back you go, the rougher the videos are..lol
just got one of these baddies in at my store. so excited to see her go to a home.
My first and only tarantula is this
That kind of video are so useful hope u continue to do it
Thanks. I plan on it...for now at least.
Great video looks like imma wait till have some more experience with tarantulas
This is one T i wanted for a long time . i went to an expo in march and couldn't help myself i bought 3 and im so happy i did they are just gorgeous and good eaters . One sticks its little toes out at feeding time and takes the food from me of course thats my favorite. Got to love those toes 😆
that is awesome!
This is an amazing gateway tarantula to transition form new world to old world.🕷
Richard, love your videos,I watch them all as well as Tom Morans,Deadly T girl.
Great video,much appreciated.
Severe aches in all joints,nauseau,vomiting,headaches.
If untreated, the poisons shut down the kidneys and liver.
The effects on a T are obvious.
As long as the bottle goes into refrigeration it shouldnt be a problem, but I wouldn't take a chance personally.
Im in food marketing so I am well aware of it.
Just thought Id pass this on,hope it helps but for everyone reading this text, dont buy bottled water unless its BPA free, you dont know where along the trucking line of distribution or the warehousing this bottled water was exposed to higher temps.
awesome as usual... no one can ever go wrong with these informative videos...
thanks you...very cool of you to say that!
this was a really well put together video!
I have been taking care of one of these beautiful females at my work. I've fallen in love with this awesome species! Thanks for a great video!
This was the second T I got when I started back in the hobby. Its also my favourite despite out of the others. Just love watching her feed.
my P. irminia is making a sac as i watch this. nice timing!
Thanks for the tips, will take this info on board 👍
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment :)
Awesome timing! I got my first one on Sunday. Keep up the good work Richard!
That is awesome! I hope it helps!
I own a sling, I purchased 2 years ago beautiful and very quick....You do a very nice job
thanks Luis!
Seems like I'm lucky 😏
just recently discovered your channel. loving it so far. great videos
Awesome Andy...glad you enjoy the content. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and let me know.
I don't usually subscribe on the first video I see of someone but this was really interesting and well made.
Thank you!
Man I got my second p. Irminia. I forgot how fast they are but didn't forget how stunning they are. Never knew the the fang action was that potent. Very interesting learned something new.
After all that, I’m starting to think my P. Irminia is broken 🤣
That’s awesome the females stay that pretty color (don’t get me wrong males are pretty too) makes finding out if mine is male or female a lot easier 😁
A wonderful Tarantula to have in the collection for sure.
CynFlo2010 yeah the ladies are gorgeous
Subscribed last week and just purchased a 3/4" sun tiger yesterday. This is the first sun tiger I have owned since entering this enjoyable hobby 30+yrs ago. Extremely fast even at the 3/4" size. Reminds me of my P. Regalis Indian Ornamental when eating/hunting. Readily taking down small crickets with authority. I can already tell this will be a good eater. I hear they grow fast, hoping it will be a quick grower like my female P. Regalis Ornamental was. Love your videos. Thumbs up!
Lucky number 3!
I’m so in love with my p irminia 💗
Love these guys. They are one of my favorites.
I would agree Myria...I just wish I got to see her more...
The highlight of any Tuesday!
LoL...thank you :)
Love the video. I don’t have a P. irminia in my collection yet but I believe that’s about to change. 🤓👍🏼🕷
Thanks dude! It is an awesome T...not the most visible....but very cool when it is!
Temperature and humidity levels would be the most useful info for a care vid
awesome video and great information
Thank you!
Great video !!!!!!!!
Thanks!
This is one of my favorite T’s. Man I really want to get back in to collecting T’s again!!!
Can you cover P metallica pls? Also how to deal with mite problems I seems to have them crawling around my enclosures.
It is essentially the exact same care. I will be doing one on the Fire knee soon, I am just waiting til mine are a little bigger.
What you say about its enclosure tells me I've got mine spot on👍 I call her marcia
Awesome. I have been waiting for this video! Psalmopoeus is my favorite genus. My little irminia sling just got her black and orange colors with the last molt.
Hi richard it's dan from London uk , I went pet store and came away with a Venezuela sun tiger 👍🕷🕸
best intro in yt for me, and hella awsome content big fan from the philippines, watching this again 2020
amazing video!
Thanks :)
This was SO helpful and I IMMEDIATELY subscribed! Super badass
Thanks a lot! I appreciate your support.
Cant wait for mine to grow up. Its a spiderling now. Luckly my partner has experience with them.
Bloody amazing video man! stunning colours and vivariums. extraordinary!!
Thanks so much Justin! How you enjoy the rest of the videos on the channel as much :)
My male passed last month, unfortunately. My Male G.Pulchripes followed. Both were a ripe old age. My Irmina was such a lovely fuzzy gray....he looked almost like P. Cambridgi. I’ll miss both little dudes.
Great quality video. Like how you share all your acknowledged. My P. irminia arrives tomorrow.
Best ✌️
that is exciting...congrats on the new T!
I started to watch your channel as one of Turkey have very nice channel successes
Dude awesome video! audio/video/edit on point! subbed, just entering the hobbie
You should do a brachypelma klaasi tarantula Tuesday. Very nice videos btw. Really fun to watch. Keep it up😁😁
I dig this. I've been thinking about getting a couple of Suntigers to help transition to OWs like P. Metallicas
Hey you should do a care and husbandry video for the trinidad chevron.
Great bro I really like watch you vids
thanks tarantula cove...i mean that :)
Hopefully in a year or two the quality will be a lot better :)
the_tarantula_collective let me tell you.. your Chanel absolutely kicks ass.. I have been watching dark den and exotic lair a lot . Their great but your videos are on a whole other level.. the camera work.. the style everything is just bang on.. your contest is so much more in depth and attention grabbing.. you are by far my go to spider guy.. I'm new to the hobby and your videos are my new passion.
Could we plz plz have a video on a cobalt blue spider or maybe a green bottle blue???
I havent been able to get enough footage of my elusive cobalt blue to make a video on it yet, BUT you can check out my video on the GBB here: ua-cam.com/video/XArqZZZL1Pk/v-deo.html
the_tarantula_collective in your opinion what would make the better first T the cobalt blue or the GBB???
God damn IMMENSE work ethic put into these videos.
Great timing, I've been thinking about a P. irminia as my next
Great videos, can you make one featuring the Singapore Blue/Lampropelma Violaceopes?
I am actually working on putting one together!
@@tarantulacollective Awesome!
