Honestly ... I can relate to this video. As a consumer, i am tired of hearing influencers everytime suggesting new products. Every 2nd product is there favourite. So much information everytime as if i am a scientist. I'm done with this skincare trend. I do the basic one now.

I remember the craze over 10 step Korean skincare like 10 years ago? At that time it was like the holy grail way to clear skin. But now its so crazy to think about doing all those steps daily. Just do what your skin needs.
The great barrier relief has been the only product that stayed in my routine for years now. There’s no need to produce new products if these skincare companies actually create quality products that will stay relevant through the test of times.

Totally agree. I've been using the Matcha Hemp Cleanser for years now and will continue to do so as long as the formula remains the same. If she continues to grow a very loyal customer base by pushing a small number of quality products KB will be around for a good long while.
Since learning about your company and trying your products, the face wash and great barrier relief have become staples in my routine and I see little need to try/buy other products. I’ve repurchased the face wash 6 times now (I just stocked up on 3 more. I go through about 3-4 in one year since it’s all I use) and the great barrier relief twice. I’ll give my loyalty to a company that dedicates itself to creating a few quality products. Thank you so much!

I agree! I used to respect Paula's Choice so much. They had core products that were effective and ingredients that were researched well. After Paula left, they had CBD skin care and anything that was trendy.. I didn't like that. I'll still buy things from them if I really like them, but I've mostly moved on to other brands.
tons of their customers are requesting them to create new products with trendy ingredients (bakuchiol, cbd). who to blame? the customers? the influencers who are promoting trendy things? or the indie brands like krave who create products with "different marketable" stuff like KALE water, OAT cream, TAMANU lotion and drive bigger brands to do the same?
I own small skin care company and I agree, even though I noticed the growth slowed down without new launch, I'm still happy with the benefits our clients get :) I think water companies create the biggest damage to our planet.
I love how committed you are to your brand's goals! It's just so sad that other brands do not share the same values as you. We, consumers, have to adapt these values too!

I have a pretty minimal skin care routine. I just wish I could buy all the indie brands from one place. I mainly just use the cleanser for Krave so sometimes I have to buy multiple to get free shipping.

it looks to me that some people prefer to constantly change their skin care products because they think that skin gets used to the same product and therefore it doesn't work anymore. but this is a misconception. the cells of our skin get renew approximately every 28 days, so our skin potentially cannot get used to anything. that's why if a product suits to our skin requirements - we can use it as long as we want.
This whole investors and capitalism issue can be transposed to so many things. I work in the visual effects industry and we see the same issue here (and in general in the tech industry). The demand is growing exponentially (particularly since post 2000, and it boomed again during the pandemic), the studios produce at a non-human rate and they don't even make profit, the purpose is just at that point to be bought by a bigger monster like Disney, or Microsoft or who knows! The only thing I see around me is that many artists who makes the magic a reality are all burning-out or dying out of extreme fatigue. What I see is the investor calling out for the studios to move to India where the hour rate is much lower... it is terrible, we lost complete craftsmanship over the past decade, what actually makes the job interesting. The pace of work is so intense that most juniors give-up in the two first years of working, which makes for a huge shortage of artists. The whole industry is in a huge crisis because of this capitalistic world. I am so saddened and feel so incredibly powerless, but consumers consume so much entertainment, so much is being produced in such a short amount of time...

So many good points and as a consumer I started off wanting to try every product.. routine was like over 10 products. However, as more and more company release more products I just started feeling behind.. like I didn't have the ability to catch up.. so I just gave up! I made a list of everything I plan to try but don't really get too hung up if the product ends up discontinued before I ever get a chance to try it. Moving at my own pace now to find the right products for my skin and staying loyal to those products.

I keep my skincare routine really simple (i only have 5 steps). As soon as I found a product or product line that worked for my skin, I stopped buying anything else. I ended up unfollowing a lot of the brands I used to follow. There are a lot of products out there that advertise a lot of things that they can do on the packaging and I've noticed over the last decade that my mom spends hundreds of dollars each year to try them in order to achieve the results she's looking for; but even then, if it stops holding up, she ends up going through another cycle of buying products.

Instead of just reviewing products, you've always been concerned about what (and why) we consume, investigating further if the hyped ingredients actually deliver what they are believed to and how they do so, breaking myths, understanding the production process and the skincare culture deeply.
I'm still yet to use any KB products, because they are not available where I live, but I wish all the best for you guys, and that you can grow and show the big brands a more friendly approach for the earth and for the consumers!

As a consumer I already know that there’s not a miracle product capable to erase my let say wrinkles but instead I want to take care of my skin and slow down aging or any issue with my skin. I totally agree. I am always so frustrated if I like a product and cannot get a new one after two years, cause they changed the line, the formula replaced it, whatever.
For fun cosmetic extras I tend to try new things or limited editions. A colorful Eyeshadow palette, a limited edition under eye pad, that probably is very similar to the one before, except for the scent color and packaging.
For my skincare, there are a few staples I purchase over and over again, my favorite cleansing oil, rosewater as a toner and a moisturizing fluid with healing earth.
So far I am really happy that they seem to be not trending, but staple products.
This faster, growth focused behavior, ignoring the costs the people and world has to pay with only a few winners, although I doubt most of them are really happy, is a problem of our economic and most modern societies. It drives so many people into burn-out...
I really hope our generation will achieve a change of values.

somethinc brand from indonesia, almost every month launch a bunch of new product. i mean thats too much, they have almost 20 serum or maybe more than that. thats too much, please slow down, their products already good, so stop doing too much

Thanks for this video! I was one of those people who tried to keep up with the skincare trends, new ingredients, etc. In the end, I got tired and now, I just want to use what's work for me, and be consistent with it. I've minimized my skincare routine, and this makes me happy, and my wallet is happy too..😉

I'm only on minute 1:35 and can't tell you how much I am in full synchronicity with everything you've said. Add to his, that more allergies are now being reported by dermatologists, due to skin overnourishment. We don't need so much stuff.
A similar thing happens with the perfume industry. Over 3,000 new fragrances are released each year. By the time one is able to try a few and compare, the fragrance is discontinued.
I'm sure this is an issue that applies to most manufacturing industries. It's unsustainable to aim for perpetual growth. We must re-examine patterns consumerism, what truly gives us joy and satisfaction, perceptions of self-worth, and environmental impact with every purchase decision we make.

I have 5 different kind of products including Exfoliator and treatment but i really want this in my Moisturizer so it will be just 3 steps but i can't use a treatment or Exfoliator specially every day ... But still i don't have time or money to use all the useless products all time . When i really don't want to throw outside make trash mountain .
I will company's make big package or sunscreen the spf i use companie any make 50g tube . So trouble some to buy all the time

I won’t mention the brands but so many companies i used to love sold to big corporations and they lost a lot of the integrity I loved. One specific company has launched 3 new products within the last year.
