Love this for up-and-coming brands. When everyone in the beauty industry is going in one direction going with flow, you do a 180 and come out with a new idea to help others. Well done to you and Krave Beauty for getting to where you are, in a position to not trample on others on your way up but helping them along the way.👏🏽👏🏽
Wow, I'm so proud of you Liah! As a business student, I love getting insights like this and seeing how things really work within an industry setting. You are such an inspiration!
I m so glad that in my skincare journey I discovered Liah esp during time when 10 step routine was going around and I almost damaged my skin barrier. I went thru a tough battle with ache and her videos were just the right info and direction I needed. I would highly recommend her channel for skincare beginners. I m so glad to see her launch her own brand and the direction they are headed in is so amazing to watch. I feel sincerity and honesty, and an undying passion for ethical, sustainable, and producing great products. This video was informational as well. Thank you for always working hard and stepping in the right direction, in times highly needed.
Hi Liah! Being the only shareholder of a company gives such a feeling of liberation and not having to report to higher ups is truly the best. That's because I experienced it and its not fun. I own and run small online business part time and I love it and the experience has been remarkable and rewarding because it's not full on capital-driven. Thanks so much for this knowledge on shareholders and venture capitals liah!
Girl, you are such an inspiration! You explain everything in such a simple way and easy to understand! I really wan to support you and your brand, the moment your products will be available in Europe
I love the krave beauty brand. The products are amazing. Please don’t ever change just for the money. My skin can’t thank you enough for all the improvements it’s made !! ❣️
Minute 6 - 6:36. Awesome if you're going to exit to a larger company that has the same values, but some of these brands with great ethics just sold themselves out to animal testers. 😔💬 Liah, you're a BOSS in all caps. I'm so glad you're doing this!!!!!! Also, I hope your engagement is going great.
True. We need this move detrimentally. Liah, you are much needed and an inspiration to many indie brands like us. Thank you for raising the awareness! Simplicity. Because we do not need all these other products for companies to raise $$$ but really care for our clients’ skincare journey
This is amazing! There’s so many young entrepreneurs now who are struggling with finding capital and investors that have the same value of slow growth alongside product innovation and integrity, who won’t be pressured like you said for quick returns. This kind of resource is key to propel truly sustainable and ethical brands and is so needed! Thank you Liah!
I don't have much knowledge about how businesses work, but your explanation made it easy for me to ingest and I think your idea to become an investor for other start-up companies and entrepreneurs. You've always been an inspiration to me and I'm a big fan of Krave Beauty and everything it stands for.
Congratulations Liah. I am so happy for you and your team. As someone who just started working in the Beauty industry, this was very insightful. You are truly an inspiration ❤
This is such a cool video Liah. I’m currently getting a degree with hopes to work in the beauty industry and even though I love beauty and skincare, I often think about parts of the industry that clash with my ethics and morals. I really respect you so much for staying true to your ethics and running Krave Beauty in this way. I am so happy to support you and Krave!
First time hearing about this and you explained it in such an eloquent manner! Thank you for being transparent and honest I will definitely be buying more Krave products now that I know the mission of the company💚
I am not an entrepreneurial and will probably never be one in my entire life but I love watching this informative video! Congrats on the venture launch and watching this video reminded me of the simulation game I did in one of my business class in college.. in order for my company to gain a profit I had to launch a product every year..it made me question is this really the only way for me to make a profit? I am glad I got to play the game because it got me questioning so many things but all in all it was a great experience and I slightly wish all my other business classes did a simulation game. Keep on teaching me many lessons Liah, I really appreciate it.
This is such valuable insight on the beauty industry! I’m excited to see how PRV will help transform the mindsets of founders and shareholders to hopefully generate more mission-grounded companies that truly value and prioritize their stakeholders. This is honestly such an innovative idea that I know a lot of small business owners seek and would genuinely appreciate! I’m so excited for this and you, Liah! Thank you for doing this 💗🌱✨
another reason why it kind of sucks to see local businesses acquired by national conglomerates is the commitment to that business' geographic base. that company is then no longer committed to serving the original community's needs, staffing those people, and providing that personal connection. for example, bartell's drugs in seattle was recently bought up by rite aid, and so now there are fewer local pharmacies that we know are putting money back into the community. this is very cool liah, im looking forward to what comes out of it!
That’s so amazing! I have no doubt it’s going to help some groundbreaking small businesses that will give consumers(like me) more opportunities to support brands with big visions❤️
Sucks that tatcha, YTP, Paula's Choice, and farmacy we're all bought by big conglomerates that are not ethical or cruelty free. As a very conscious consumet I don't support businesses that aren't cruelty free and this includes their parents company. As years pass my list gets shorter and shorter.
You’re such an Inspiration Ms. Liah❤️ Praying collaboration with you.. Im a small time business owner as of the moment but sooon praying and hoping my brand will be big, someday 🙏🏻
Hey Liah. I just want to say you rock it! Please continue your work. I learned business these last 2 years, somehow have tried to be a startup founder too. And what you said is truly what I feel. People are mad everywhere obsessed with money, they don't realize that just a few centuries ago the concept of working for money is odd. I just read a history book. Looking back, I thought capitalism is a good thing because I can't imagine a life where it centers to the landlords. But now I'm not sure
Thank you for this inspiring video. I'm also thinking about launching my skincare startup, so it's incredibly promising to see that you're able to stay genuine and ethical! I found your channel three days ago and I am literally BINGING :D much love❤️
I think an expanded view of stakeholders is key to infinite thinking not just a cash grab. I believe the future is realizing the 360 degree impact of business. Congrats on the new venture!
Something that more companies should include in their ethical and sustainable brand models is sustainable livelihoods for their workers. Good wages and benefits, health and safety, and a voice in decision-making through unionization make workers lives and their communities stronger and healthier. I would love to see Krave and Press Reset Ventures include this in their work. Please let me know if it is already included and/or reach out for more brainstorming!
Go girl.. love ur idea.. ur brand is the really popular in india and the youtubers.. which is growing up like crazy 🎉😍😍😍😍🦋🙏🌟✨🍀🍀💖💖May u grow sustainably 💝💝
Another issue with small companies being bought up by conglomerates is if you don't agree with the ethics! Brands that you once loved, you hesitate to purchase from if it compromises your morals
Europe is not really interesting to a lot of brands. Maybe because of the strict EU regulations that make everything for some brands much more expensive and at the end they opt against it. I've asked krave on their instagram a while ago and the answer was really unclear. So I guess Europe is not an option, at least not in the near past. In my personal opinion.
Great video! How come you didn't need additional money though? I'm thinking of starting a small company and I'm wondering what the chances are that I'll need shareholders at some point. How common is it for companies to be run the way your company is, with just one shareholder? Thanks 🙏
Liah, congratulations on the announcement. It sounds like a very interesting approach to take given your focus and I'm sure there are a number of companies that will benefit from your involvement compared to working with the average angel investors. If you get the time, I'd love to hear you speak more about the difference between innovation vs. unnecessary releases. From what I've heard in the past, I believe you've tried to develop products that fill a perceived gap in the industry rather than a gap in your product portfolio. As a result I do believe your products have aged very well. That said, seeing how far the industry has come in the last decade or two it seems inevitable that there will come a time when existing products become become dated compared to where they could be with a reformulation, so what factors do you base your decision on regarding reformulation timing? Additionally for situations where a product was unique at launch but the market has since become saturated and a product requires an update, do you discontinue a line or rerelease an improved version to support the existing user base? I'd also be curious as to how you balance a decision regarding whether to offer a variety of products for people with vastly different skin needs vs. offering a more limited lineup that may result in some people not finding what they need within the brand. For clarity just in case any of the above comes off as pessimistic, please know this is legitimate curiosity as I know these things are seldom black and white easy decisions and accordingly wouldn't expect definitive answers so much as an explanation regarding the analysis. I greatly respected your explanations regarding package sustainability and your desire not to use packaging that appeared on its face more sustainable, but wasn't in practice due to carbon emissions, recycling limitations and other factors.
