  • We conquered Snowdon on a bank holiday with about 10,000 other people!
Summit or Nothing Episode 5 - Hiking On Snowdon - Rangers Path.
Finally we have made it to Snowdonia National Park, for our first EVER Mountain Adventure. Hiking up the Rangers Path of Wales tallest Mountain, the first part of our 3 Peaks Challenge. It was a sunny day, and we were optimistic that our first mountain was going to be a success. That was until we stumbled at the first hurdle... we didn't have change for the parking meter!
Filmed over the August bank holiday weekend 2016.

Good evening Gents ( I am working the night shift UK.)
Thank you for this video as it was a real pleasure to watch.
Me and my Business Partner have been climbing Snowdon since Early Summer of 2020 .
Llanberis we have climbed twice now, the last time was January 2023 and we began the climb at 05:30am in the snow, and returned 12 hours later.
The above climb for myself was the most enduring and Truly tested my resolve however I completed this climb and took hundreds of glorious photos.
There are normally around 6 months between each of the Snowdon climbs and the previous summit climbs were: Watkins Path and descended via the miners path before that was the Miners Path going up and the Pyg Path on the way down. The first Climb wasn't planned at all (there was a story attached around this) The First Climb was the Llanberis Route.
From June 2023 we shall be venturing along and up to the Summit via the Rangers Path and shall return along the same path back to the car.
Thank you again Gentlemen as this is much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards
    From Mark

We walked up the Llamberis Path, later found out its known as the tourists path! I dont like crowds and people p*ss me off! Couldnt even get to the trig point there was so many! Was glad to get back home to Plymouth and the wilderness of Dartmoor! Working our way through Dartmoor 365 ☺Love your videos guys ☺x

I know what you mean, Nicola. I think the worst of Snowdon is the fact that you are sharing the summit with so many who haven't even walked up it, but then I guess, everyones entitled to share those views. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the videos. Good luck with the 365!

Well done to the guy in the baseball cap. You did a great job for a smoker. I smoke but still wander in the hills. You dont always have to summit. (Ive summited most of the snowdonia summits in the past). Its all about a great day with great company and great views, or not sometimes due to the low cloud. But great company and a great day out in the hills is what its all about❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅😅

Doing the same route in the morning with my daughter, we've done miners/pyg and llanberis paths before. It's always mad busy at the top, but it's hard to complain seeing as we all migrate there and add to the chaos! Great video, really enjoyed it.

I was there last week too (up Snowdon Ranger, down via Y Lliwedd). I noted the volume of ice at the top of the Pyg track and people were being very careful and slow up there. I agree the views at the summit, particularly over the Glyders and beyond were incredible.

Oops… bank holiday 😆Great to see the Rangers Path route 🙏. We were fortunate to climb Snowdon via the Pyg Track on a sunny June day with not a queue in sight in 2019. No queue at all for the trig point and hardly anyone in the cafe either until a train arrived. We had a room full of empty tables to choose from. Sadly, as novices to mountain trekking we rigidly followed the local guide books, signage at the car park and online videos telling us that despite warm temperatures at the bottom - it might be below zero at the summit. So we carried rucksacks full of additional clothing, almost passing out from the heat as we approached the top 😂. People arriving from the train station were walking around the cafe in flip flops, t-shirts and shorts - giving us strange looks. Descending via the Miners track, the weight of our back packs became a hazard on the dried out terrain as we scrambled down. All good experience I guess, we’ll know next time! The Glydders near by were much more Dartmoor like in terms of how many people we met. Cadaer Idris was all but empty as well that week. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing your next adventure.

Watched the whole lot (start again) and rest in one go and really enjoyed it, so well done to you both! Two weeks today we will be setting off to wales and climbing Snowdon the following day and I will pass on the info I got from you lads, we need to start ASAP because I would hate all them people up there, totally ruin it for me. 10 of us did Ben Nevis 2 years ago to the day and even though it was perfect weather and we did not get walking till 10.30, it was no where near as busy as that, we also had snow for the top third as well, which made it interesting. If I had my way we would be up at 05.00 and walking an hour later but have to wait and see what the others want to do. ATB, cheers Alan

Brilliant Video! I just did the Rhyd Ddu ascending route and Snowdon Ranger on descent. I must admit, we went on a Tuesday and it made such a difference, we only saw like 3 other people when we were going down the Snowdon Ranger path. Even the summit was far less crowded. I have to say you got better views at the summit, we had a lot of low lying cloud though I must admit the drop in temp was greatly appreciated. Looking forward to doing Scafell in a few weeks and your video on that one has made me decide I am going to do brown tongue route. So glad I found you guys and subscribed.

Ah, that sounds great - best of luck and hope for you it will be a little quieter - we did make the mistake of going on a bank holiday after all, but even so, it is the countries 2nd most popular walk so I should imagine there to be a lot of people up there. But if the weathers clear, it will be worth it anyway just for the views alone. Re you there for a weekend, if you have another day spare, I recommend taking a look at Tryfan too. We did this path, 3 days after the llanberis one ! We got to the heart-shaped lake and the heavens opened up and we had waterproofs but not enough under layers so, we went back down. It went freezing! We so want to do it again and carry on up. Had we continued, it would have been manic at the peak like when we reached it on the Llanberis because it was school hols at the end of July 🙄!

That poxy summit mentality on Snowdon really gets on my tits. If everybody was to grow a braincell, they would have the summit to themselves for a few seconds, get a couple of clear shots without obscuring and then walk down the 19 steps so the next person can do the same, but NO. Everybody wants to stand there and get in each other's way and you end up with 20 complete strangers in your selfie shot which is ruined. So, the last few times I have been up there I have exercised patience in waiting for it to clear or have just got to the trig and said out loud, "give me 10 seconds and I'll be out of your way". It has worked and people have stepped out of my shot so I can get my photo without all of them being in it. The other piece of advice I could give you is timing it so that you are there 1 hour before sunset because a) you get stunning views and b) it is usually clear because they are all on their way down/off the mountain to beat the light. Done that and ended up with great views and photos.
