I’m so glad I found your channel! I’m leaving soon for a trip out west including Grand Teton and Yellowstone. I’ve been watching all of your videos and they’ve been so helpful in planning. Thank you for all the information. I’m so excited!
Wow you guys, once again you’ve a helpful tool for those of us coming to GTNP & Yellowstone NP for the very first time! Thank you so much!💗👍🏼🥾
As a PNW'er I really have been overjoyed to find your channel. So much great down to earth information across a wide range of topics.
I know producing such content isn't anywhere close to easy or quick, so thank you! Excited to make it out there this summer 😊
My family is going to Yellowstone/grand teton next month. My wife and I have really appreciated your videos over the last few months as we plan all of this.
Thank you so much for this video! We are visiting Tetons and Yellowstone 6/13 - 19. We have watched many of your video's thanks again. Happy and Safe Travels!
Really helpful in helping us decide where to go first. Happy to live in SLC with such easy access to so many national parks and just great trails locally.
I just want to say I love you guys and I'm so happy to see you with this audio guide. I watched my first video of yours last year a few weeks before my trip to Yellowstone and you made me want to spend more time in the tetons. We didn't, too many cranky kids, so only spent a day but my heart is still there and I can't wait to go back. These videos convince me even more. Definitely will be buying this guide soon. In the meantime, I live vicariously through your family.
Wow, thanks so much!! We definitely understand "too many cranky kids" sometimes. LOL. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You two are awesome! Our family traveled to this area May 10th-15th. It was breathtaking and watching your videos provided so much information when we were planning our trip. Keep up all the great work you are doing!!
Thank you so much Cassy!!
Fantastic insight as always!
You two are awesome! Thank you
Thank you so much for the excellent videos on the GT and YS, planning on visiting in August and your videos have been an amazing source of information.
This video was so helpful for our planning, thank you! The comment about the free gondola ride after 5 PM at Teton Village was a nice money-saver; such great view of Jackson Hole up there!
This is very helpful, we’re going in September. Thank you so much!
We are planning a 7 day camping trip to GT and Yellowstone in September (our 3rd attempt since Covid). We have 4 nights at Gros Ventre and 3 at Madison Campground traveling with our 20’ camp trailer. I’ve been watching YT videos since we started planning in 2019 and so thankful I ran across yours…the BEST of the BEST! I’ll be purchasing your guide and audio tour and love that we can have that resource with us; especially knowing that there’s no cell service in most of the parks. It gives my “need to know and plan” brain tremendous peace. 😅 Well done guys and thank you! 🥳
As I was looking for Jackson hole and I was kind of confused because I couldn’t find it and you right away started to clarify it for me. You both are so good at teaching. I’m very impressed and appreciate your guidance since I’m heading there in mid September. Thank You 🙏🏽 & God blesses you all always and all ways.
We were just going to spend 1 night there after being in Yellowstone, but after watching your videos, decided to spend 4 nights THANK YOU!
You’re welcome! Let us know how your trip went. I don’t think you’ll regret it. :)
Just wanted to say I love your channel! My boyfriend and I always go to UA-cam when planning a national park trip, and your videos are the most comprehensive, organized and information packed I’ve seen. No nonsense, straight to the point and informative. I feel like an expert and I haven’t even been to Teton and Yellowstone yet!
Wow! Thanks for the compliments and thanks for watching!
This is great video!Thank you!
Hi there! We’re in Wales 🏴 and are planning to come to visit the Grand Tetons in a couple of years’ time. Your films are really getting us in the mood!!! Thank you very much for your helpful and informative advice...my wife has already filled a note book with your tips!! I’m loving the maps because I’ll be the one driving!! I’ve loved this area ever since watching “Shane” as a child! I look forward to seeing the sights and sites! 😂
So detailed and helpful! We will be in GTNP in July and this video will help us a lot in how to plan our trip. Thank you!!!
Keep up the good work. From a former history major turned lawyer, I truly appreciate your videos. So much useful content and interesting. Lots of substance. I would love to see a video focused on Park history. I have tremendous memories of Yellowstone and Grand Teton in the 1960’s. My grandparents came from Red Lodge Montana so these places have special meaning for me.
Park history????? That’s a topic Matt can get behind. We made a whole audio guide filled with stories about the park that goes with our itinerary. We’ll probably cover some stories in the future. Thanks for your comment
This channel cover all info We need! Thank you! and I love her vibe, looks like a very nice person both of you! Thanks again!! We areexcited for our long drive trip!
Thanks so much and good luck on your big road trip!
Another brilliant, informative video. Thank you, :) watching your uploads is like having a tour guide before you go, telling you what you need to know, not what any promotional video will tell you.
Thank you! That's what we aim to do. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for all these videos especially this one! I'm visiting there in 2 weeks for my first time and all your videos have been so helpful for me! You answered a question I was wondering as well about driving from Yellowstone to Grand Teton
Glad we could help. Have a great trip!!
Thank you for your great tips...
Thanks for the time you put into creating this video! So helpful and informative!! Just subbed 🙏🏾
Thanks for the sub!
You guys are awesome, gave us complete details along with the map which helps us a lot. Thank you so much.
You’re welcome!!
You guys are the best 💓 heading there this weekend 🙌 thanks for your channel 👍
Have fun!
Thanks so very much for all these videos and info. My mom and I are on our way in three weeks….these have really helped me try to figure how to prepare and plan our trip.
I'm so glad!
We lived there for 9 weeks (hubby had a project there) and we absolutely loved it! (We lived minutes from Oxbow Bend.) That was 8 years ago now and we’ve never been back. Would love to make it back sometime!
After discussing it my wife and I want to plan our next anniversary trip to GTNP. We enjoy camping and normally camp outside the park. So yes more info on camping would be great
You guys are the best. Thank you for so much valuable information to us outsiders. Y’all are so thorough.
Our pleasure!
This is so helpful and interesting! It has helped me to plan so many places visit and some spots to paint en plein air, and where certain spots are that I've seen in paintings by artists I love.
Glad it was helpful!
You guys, so far after watching many channels, are the best. Please make some videos on camping basics/camping in different parts of the country/dos or donots for camping in some areas. Good luck and thank you guys.
We’re glad we watched, y’all cover it 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a fantastic tutorial. We will be visiting both parks this July. We are from HI and SF.
How wonderful, have a great time.
Trying to plan a 21 day trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton in 2024, love watching your video's.
Whoa! 21 days! Incredible!
My wife and I are going to travel to Grand Teton and Yellowstone in mid September 2024 we are seniors in are early 70’s and are following your videos we are in good physical shape so hope we can get more help from your videos and recommendations
Awesome! You will love it. We have whole playlists on each area. Hopefully we can cover all your questions and more.
Great video!
Thank you!!!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for a very informative video!
You're welcome!
Thank you! I’m driving from Alabama in September 2023! I’m very excited!!
Good luck!! You'll love it!
Thank you for your videos. We were suppose to go to Yellowstone with our family when it closed. We got a couple of the last campsites in Grand Tetons and enjoyed some of the hikes you suggested. Your videos gave us some great info during an uncertain time of having to change our trip. A big thanks all the way from Michigan.
So happy we could be of some help! You're very welcome. :)
Matt & Cheryl THANK YOU !!!!!! Wife & I are beyond excited to visit the week of 9/17-9/25 and Your Videos are Way Beyond Helpful !!!!!!!! Again Thank You so Very Much !!!!!!!!
You’re welcome!
Hiking is the best way to enjoy GTNP. Lake solitude, paintbrush canyon, Taggart lake, cascade canyon, table mountain ⛰ ,Jenny lake loop etc😉
I enjoy your videos. I've planned a road trip in late September to include Wind Cave, Badlands, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Today, I watched your Cody, WY video - I had already planned to stay there too, including booked in one of the two historical rooms. Thanks again. Also, doing a 6 night mini-road trip thru New Mexico in late August (Santa Fe, Taos and Red River (including a Michael Martin Murphey Chuckwagon Supper/Music concert).
Those are two awesome trips!!
Another great video 👍hopefully we will be coming in September at the moment we Still can't travel to America but I know we will get there one day until then we have your wonderful videos. Thank you for all your hard work
Thanks Liz!!! Always good to hear from you. I bet you that you'll be able to come to America this September. People are rarely wearing masks anymore (around here, anyway).
My favorite park in all the U.S.! So scenic........First wildlife we saw coming in was the Buffalo...spectacular! We camped in our motorhome at a campground overlooking Jackson Lake.......beautiful!
Grand Teton is one of the most beautiful places in the world! So glad you got that experience.
We are here now (early August 2022). Drove up from Texas. Actually staying near Wilson. A bull moose ran by our back porch yesterday when we first got here at dusk! My wife said he was majestic. Went to the Craig Johnson visitor center today and Nora’s Fish Creek Inn. Headed back to Grand Teton National Park tomorrow. Thanks so much for the great advice.
Awesome! Continue to enjoy your trip. 😊
@@WereintheRockies will do. Took your advice and went to Gros Ventre area and that dirt rode to that went up to Antelope Flats and Moulton barns. Didn’t see any bison but saw some pronghorn. Went over the bridge in the area and did see a moose for a bit by the river. Have only seen bison up in Yellowstone.
Loving Ben Lomand in the back ground! 😍🏔
Ya!!
you guys rock! thank you
thanks!
Thanks again for your videos. Is that your home? My goodness the view. Wow We were able to book our trip to Yellowstone in the wee hours of the morning, so excited. We are hoping to book Grand Tetons today. Thanks for all your help planning this amazing trip. BTW you can only horseback ride at Triangle X Ranch if you stay there. If you know of any other places, please let us know. I am looking around too. I think there may be one at Teton Village. You can however take the boat tour from the ranch.
yes, that is our home! and good to know about Triangle X. There is one called Teton Trail Rides www.tetonvillagetrailrides.com
Thanks for a great video. So excited... fly into Jackson Hole next July for a holiday in Grand Teton (and Yellowstone!) Fly out from WYS to Heathrow - could not believe it but there was the perfect rewards flight back home to UK from West Yellowstone! So happy USA has reopened it's border (just hoping the kids will be allowed into USA!)
This was so helpful! I will be flying into Jackson and I’ve decided to stay there as my base for Grand Teton. Then head up to Yellowstone!
Thank you! That sounds like a great plan. Have a great trip
Just got back from our Rocky Mountain trip of a lifetime. We knowingly did not plan enough time for Grand Teton and our one day there blew us away. We stayed at Signal Mountain for our one night and upgraded to their Jackson Lake front, Mountain View suite. It was fantastic…so much so that I’m secretly planning a Teton-only trip back next May (late May) as a Christmas present for my wife (no kids). 🤫
How fun! Enjoy.
Great videos! I’m planning my first trip to Yellowstone in early October and will definitely purchase your detailed guide. I would also like to see videos on camping sites in and outside of the national parks. Overlanding/Rooftop tent set up. Blessings!
Hi! We have an article and video about camping in Yellowstone. Maybe it will be of help: wereintherockies.com/the-complete-guide-to-camping-at-yellowstone/
Love your videos
Thank you Brinda!
Thanks!
Thank You!
We’re coming to Wyoming in June. You both have been very helpful.
Great to hear! Have a great trip.
I'm from channel makers great video..
Hi, Guys - Another terrific video. Besides providing excellent videography, your commentary is also superb, I think the best of all travel channels. Being a history professor, I would like you to give a translation and historical explanation of where the name Grand Tetons came from. This would add extra special interest to Grand Tetons visitors.
LOL- I think you know the origins and translation of Tetons. 😉
Great video!! I would love to learn about more about camping in the National Forest!! That would be super helpful. We like to have a little bit more private sites, and boon docking in Forest we always prefer over the Parks.
Will do!
Btw, thanks for all the good advice!
You bet!
I love your content. Thank you for what you guys do. On the how to get there section, it may be worthwhile to mention, whether you need to rent a car may need to determine where you fly. We were planning on flying to Bozeman and car rental availability and cost made us change our travel to SLC.
Yes, that’s a great idea. Thank you!
Staying at signal mountain via reservation system. So excited as we're coming from Ohio.
Yaaaa!!
They finally open. I went to that area last month, they didn’t open. Too bad 😖
yes it does
I really like your videos and learned a lot. We want so bad to see Grand Teton national park but just can’t find any affordable places to stay in June.
Yes, it is not a cheap place to visit. If you're willing to drive/commute to the Teton's, outlying towns are cheaper.
Love your videos! Out of all the National Parks you've been to, which is the most solo traveler friendly and why?
Good question! All are great but I would avoid Glacier National Park because bears are everywhere, including heavily trafficked areas. Choose somewhere you are interested in, and you won't regret it!
I loves your videos!! They are very informative! Have you ever thought about doing videos on additional federal parks like our battlegrounds of the American revolution and the civil war?
Heaven is a beautiful view.
Love it! Thanks for watching
Great information and glad to find your channel. One suggestion, Please use a shirt mic or something so that the audio levels are good.
Thanks for the suggestion
Wow I didn't know there were more things to do than I thought. I didn't have time to do any hiking in Grand Teton because my vacation was more of a road trip. I was passing through Grand Teton coming from Yellowstone and Glacier National Park.
Yep, an extremely cool place!
Yes. Would be very interested to know about RV sites other than in park or forest that might be available in case the parks are full.
We just booked 5 days at the Mountainside Yellowstone KOA with full hookups.
Thanks for the great video. I actually prefer spending time in the Grand Tetons than Yellowstone.
Grand Teton is so beautiful!
Sounds like our Disney World strategy. Arrive early, head back to resort at lunchtime then go back to the park in the evening.
We’ve watched/listened to two of your teaching videos over the last 12 hours. Yellowstone last night and now Grand Teton. You two are the most comprehensive of all the videos UA-cam has to offer about those two national parks. Thank you. I am a bit of a history buff and grammar nazi and am glad you tried to set folks straight about the definition of Jackson vs Jackson Hole. I did notice how you sort of skimmed by the actual French definition of Grand Teton! Hahaha! ;)
Hey.... we're a family show!!! Thanks for watching and for your kind words.
@@WereintheRockies hahahaha!
Great vid. Super helpful. I'm kinda doing the reverse of what you said is normal. I'm hitting the Tetons for 5 days (backcountry hiking) and have a spare day where I was considering driving up to Yellowstone. That said, if you had one spare day to spend (as the rest of my time will be in the backcountry) would you spend it at the Tetons doing other cool things or would drive up to Yellowstone and hit something cool, and if so what do you recommend? Thanks in advance!
Oh wow, I’m hoping to do what you’re doing someday soon. With one spare day, you can drive around the entire lower loop in Yellowstone and see the Grand Canyon and old faithful. Pretty amazing if you’ve never seen them. But you can’t go wrong in Teton either.
Another very informative video, thank you! We will be there in July and would like to take the boat across Jenny Lake, can tickets be purchased in advance and what is the process to do that? Concerned it will be sold out. We plan to go early as suggested, what time does it start? Thanks for all your advice.
To my knowledge, they do not sell these in advance. Only walk up. Get in line, lay when you get to the counter. Get there before 8:30.
@@WereintheRockies thank you for your response! I wish GNP had continuous shuttles across Swift Current and Lake Josephine to shorten the hike to Grinnell, already sold out for early July.
I really do get a lot out of your Videos! Keep up the good work! But I was looking to hear of your sharing about White Water rafting in the Jackson Hole area...or Horseback riding Outfitters in the Grand Teton / Jackson Hole area? Any experience in those things in that area?
Richard, I cover the river rafting in this video on Jackson a bit: ua-cam.com/video/ALQopUJ7D_w/v-deo.html.
I haven't been horse riding in Teton yet, but it's on the long list of things to do. :)
I have been watching all of your videos to plan our trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. I also ordered your itinerary to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. They saved me a lot of time. Thank you so much. You two are awesome! I will arrive to Jackson Hole Airport at 9:30 pm. Do you think if we drive very slow, it's safe to drive through Grand Teton Park from the airport to Jackson Lake Lodge at that hour?
You will be safe as long as you drive slowly and are attentive to animals that are potentially crossing the road. Thank you for your purchase and support! It means a lot.
Hello Matt & Cheryl! So thankful for all your recommendations. Visiting Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore & Badlands this Sept. Would you suggest getting an America the Beautiful Pass now for $80.
Yes. It will save you money.
We're getting to GTNP on 9/6 and staying for a few days until 9/11. The Jenny Lake shuttle's hours this time of year are 10-4. We wanted to hike the Cascade Canyon Trail, also checking out Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point on the way. But we definitely don't want to start that late (10am). Do you recommend just hiking the two miles to that trailhead and then hoping to catch the shuttle on the way back?
Love the content of your videos! What time frame did your family visit Grand Teton?
We go there every year! We’ve visited winter and summer
We just got back in July 2023 and the Bridger Gondola was $18 after 5:30 p.m. Totally worth it.
Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a great time.
Hi guys.. recently subscribed to your channel! We will be visiting in late August to YNP and GTNP. We have 4 days for YNP and thinking of doing 1 day at GTNP. What are the must see attractions at GTNP that can be done in a day ? Thank you so much !
Thanks! To answer your question, see ua-cam.com/video/Ue3PgqoxjEw/v-deo.html
Thanks again for a wonderful video. So helpful. Also I highly recommend purchasing the Itineraries and audios both for Grand Teton and Yellowstone. They will be so helpful for me when I visit in September. Love hearing the history stories. They bring the area to life.
Thought of you two the other day because I spent a few days in Disney. Your Disney videos were great also since you included some history that I didn’t know about. Was great to meet you both when you visited.
Great to meet you too. Thank you and hope all is well. We just got back from Yellowstone. It was beautiful, as usual. Excited for you to get to see it
@@WereintheRockies Me too! I saw on the news the opening day of Yellowstone. Glad you got to go. Sept seems so far away. Can’t wait.
Cool just saw the guides!! Will glacier be out by September??
Sorry, but Glacier won't be done by September. :(
Thank you for the great video. When you say “get there early”, what time is a safe time to be at the entry gate for the popular spots?
I would also like to know!!!
I like to get there around 8 but it really starts to fill up at about 9. Hope this helps!
Definitely closer to 8, then you can pick where you want to go first!
Great videos! I love all of them! Do you think two adults could paddle a canoe across Jenny lake to hidden falls with two kids? Or is it too far?
I don’t think it’s too far, but I also don’t think you can paddle there and leave the canoe and get out to hike. I can’t remember for sure though. Check with them.
@@WereintheRockies do you think I’d get a canoe parking ticket or a bear would paddle off with my vessel?
@@foolthepity LOL. Not sure about that!
Hey guys, love your channel. As of now we are going to Yellowstone for 5 days and the Tetons for 4 the second week of September and are staying inside each park. Will it be too cold then to ride bikes in the Tetons and horseback ride in Yellowstone at that time? We have the option to move up the trip a week or two if needed. Thanks!!
The weather is usually just fine at that time! Chilly in the mornings but nice during the day.
I’m planning way ahead, and we have booked a cabin near Yellowstone for the next fall to try to avoid crowds, although I keep watching videos where it seems best option is staying close to grand Teton and do Yellowstone in a day or two. In your experience do you consider that is a best option. We going for ten days.
I’m not sure I understand your question exactly, but if you have ten days I would spend 6-7 in Yellowstone and 3-4 in Teton. I would try to stay in three different places. One for northern Yellowstone, like gardener. One for southern Yellowstone, like west Yellowstone. And one for grand Teton, like Jackson, Teton Village, or driggs.
We do sell guides for both parks that will break it all down for you.
Do you have any tips for bringing a one year old along? Thank you!!
Lower your expectations- LOL 😉. We traveled lots with our 4 children as babies and toddlers. You know your own kiddo- my advice is to allow plenty of time to let your kid run and play. Matt and I loved our Ergo backpacks for hiking around. They are much easier than dealing with a stroller. Our kids liked them too.
Hi guys! Well thanks to your videos , I’ve been inspired to visit Grand Teton which I had never even thought to do. The hike up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point was amazing and the icing on the cake was we saw a brown mama bear with her two little cubs. Day before, near Phelps Lake, I ran into a black mama bear with her cub!!! That was a bit scary but Amazing! Anyway, i and bow st Teton Village and just want to say that the Gondola ride is $45 per person which I feel is insane. I am going to try to see if after 5:30 it is still free. I didn’t ask but will try to ride it after that time and
update you. Thanks for all the info!!
Cool!!! So you’re there right now?
@@WereintheRockies yep! Right now. I guess it’s still free after 5 cos there’s a huge line waiting to get on for free.
@@WereintheRockies btw, I talk about your channel to everyone I meet. :-)
You’re so nice for mentioning us. Thanks. Glad to hear it’s still free. I would say it’s worth the the wait. Even with a long line it doesn’t Take that long
Eat some pizza for us. :) We are at Bryce right now!
Great info and video! Do you recommend AWD vehicles when traveling through teton & yellowstone?
They aren’t necessary. Both are very car friendly
You're the best for the quick reply! Heading over from the Midwest in a few weeks!
@ginahessel5991 We will be there as well! If you see us say hi 👋
Are gazelle screened in popup gazebos allowed while camping with a travel trailer in colter bay campground and lizard creek campground?
I'm not sure about that. I would check the campground websites for that info. Thanks for watching.
Why do you not suggest flying into Coby?
Which would be the most worth it? Leigh and String lake, Phelps lake, or Colter Bay/Swan lake and Heron Pond? Thanks! I love your channel! You guys are so helpful. Although I am only 11, I am planning this trip for my family😀 in 2022 along with Yellowstone, Arches, and Canyonlands!
That is so impressive you are planning a trip for your family. Which is most worth your time depends on what you like to do. String lake is beautiful for kayaking and paddle boarding. Leigh and Phelps lake are good for hiking. Colter bay is the biggest with lots of motorized boats. Keep in mind they are all cold and have rocky beaches. Good luck on your upcoming trip and thanks for reaching out.
@@WereintheRockies Thank you for replying! I think that we will be doing a mainly hiking based trip, so we will probably try to do the Leigh Lake trail as well as Phelps Lake.
Have you done the Colter Bay Lakeshore Trail, the String Lake Trail, or the Heron Pond and Swan Lake Trail? If so, what is your opinion on them? Also, just wondering, am I talking to Matt or Cheryl (sorry if I spelled that wrong)?
We just came back home to PA (😭). We were in GTNP from May 4th thru the 11th. I think we've ruined ourselves of EVER finding a better location! The entire week was unbelievable. So many gorgeous sites and the wildlife was spectacular. Many days we were in the park by sunrise. We experienced all four seasons in one day, quite a few days we were there LOL. We visited Jenny Lake and loved it even on a snowy windy wet day. We stayed in Jackson Hole. We would load up with snacks at Albertson's (love that store!) Then set out in our rental car for full days adventures. I think the ONLY bear we didn't see was 399!! LOL. We expected to see nothing and enjoy everything and I believe that's what made our adventure even better. I absolutely cannot wait to return. I steer clear of crowds and with the only exception of the Yellowstone south entrance not being open it was soooo worth our dates we chose. We drove 2 hours to go in the west entrance and again...we were so happy we did! Thanks for your videos you guys do a great job!
So great to hear!!! Sounds like the perfect vacation. Only wish you could’ve seen 399. I just told my wife we need to get up there to see her!!
How are the crowds and weather around GT around first week of June? Coming down from the north from YS.
Here is an article that will help. It's written for Yellowstone but most of it applies to GT as well: wereintherockies.com/best-time-to-visit-yellowstone/
Would you recommend paddle boarding/ swimming on any other lakes.? Are dogs allowed inside Yellowstone and Tetons on hikes?
For the most part, dogs aren’t allowed on hikes. I would highly recommend leaving the dog at home or in a kennel near the park because you’ll be very limited.
Paddle boarding is really only a thing on string lake. You can canoe on Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake. You can swim anywhere, but most common spots are string and Jackson
