I have in 10 years not enjoyed a UA-cam video like I did this one. Well done.
Wow! High praise indeed….thank you 😍⛵️
Underrated video. The details and explanations you give in this video is just amazing. BEAUTIFUL boat too!
Really kind words. Thank you 😊⛵️
Another great video of the gorgeous Intrepid Bear! Your vids are so good guys! Look fw to new season adventures! Very jealous of your Raymarine dashboard set up! Perfic! ❤
Thank you guys. We got lucky becoming Raymarine ambassadors just emailed at the right time by chance! There’ll be a slight delay in the new season starting as we’re flying home for around a month for a family wedding but we should get season 3 going in July. I hope you enjoy it 😃⛵️
excellent detail, we love our walk around bed, I am not as nimble as you ; )
Thanks Jim 😊 We’d still prefer a walk around bed but we fell for Intrepid Bears Swedish charms so had to compromise! 😍
What a great couple you are
Thats really nice of you to say so...thank you :-)
Fascinating stuff. I've only been sailing 10 years, crewing on a Jeanneau race boat, and I did own a very cute Fisher Freeward (Jemima) for a while. I am always finding more out about boat workings, and this film, as well as being thoroughly entertaining, has helped me with understanding more. Thanks as ever and happy adventures.
Hi Janice, glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. Surprisingly it was a lot harder to make than our usual sailing videos so knowing it is enjoyed and useful makes it worthwhile. Thank you 😊😊
Well Done!!
Liked and Sub'd.
Safe Sailing
Thank you, welcome aboard! I'm glad you enjoyed it and hopefully you will enjoy our sailing content that we'll get back to soon.. 😃⛵
Great explanations!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊⛵️
shes a beauty !
Thank you Fiona…we love her 😍❤️
To be fair, that was a proper yacht tour. Nice, and best of luck
Thank you, nice of you to say so. Glad you enjoyed it 😊⛵️
Nice boat ❤ 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks guys 😊⛵️
Great presentation and detail. Definitely not sure about the emergency gear in the fore locker but very impressed with you getting your leg over - I’d definitely have brained Mrs H on multiple occasions in your place! 😊
Meant to also say you’ve got a very, very nice boat there!! 😊
Thank you Richard…yes we fell for her on first viewing! I will revisit the safety locker at some stage but space is tight although, yes, safety should be paramount. Anyway I’m glad you enjoyed the tour and our boat….Making the tour video was much harder than making normal sailing videos so I’m looking forward to getting back to that soon! Cheers 😊⛵️
That Baby stay has got me thinking. Would running back stays replace the baby stay? Great video 👍👍
Thank you 😊 I imagine it might be possible to replace the baby stay with running back stays, we’d have to ask a rigger but now we have davits for the dinghy it’s probably not worth changing it. Something to think about though 😊⛵️
Fantastic informative piece guys with a whole host of things I'm sure most people don't even think about. Big question, where are your orange emergency shorts stored?!!
Thanks Keith! It was actually a much harder video to make than the usual sailing vlog….The orange shorts are in the locker with the mankini! 😬😂
I recall the details of IB from the original advert; you've certainly put a heck of a lot of effort (and money) into her to obviously good effect. I was wondering what changes, if any, you're considering for the future, particularly for more northern climes? That said, we've been away from Gosport heading up the Irish Sea for a month now and we've seriously needed the 'Factor 50'.
Hi Iain..sailing plans are, as you know, very fluid but currently things in our mind that may or may not make it into reality are lithium batteries because on sunny days we can’t store all the power but on cloudy days we can run out quite quickly so it would be good to increase capacity. For northern climes in particular some form of heating with little or no power draw would be good. We did buy a Dickinson Newport diesel heater for her in 2020 but after reading the installation limitations re distance from soft furnishing I couldn’t bring myself to hack in to IB’s woodwork that much so we returned it however in colder places with less solar off grid heating would be useful. Given that colder is often also wetter I’m considering some sort of rainwater catchment as well. The watermaker uses power so if it’s overcast and raining power will be at a premium and some could be saved by maybe collecting (and filtering) the water off the solar panels. Beyond those bits obviously we’d love new sails, standing and running rigging etc but we’ll have to see how the piggy bank stands up!! As I say can’t say how many, if any, of those upgrades will make it onboard but those are uppermost in my thinking at the moment 😊⛵️
This was fantastic one question how do you change the engine oil and filters in such a small place I take it that you suck the engine oil up through the dipstick tube ? I found this very interesting as with all of your post as I have no knowledge of sailing well done to both of you as you are having a life regards Geoff Meehan
Thanks Geoff…great to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes you are right the oil is usually sucked out through the dipstick hole. The sump plug is still there if you want to get the last dregs out but you can imagine getting anything underneath to catch it is a challenge so usually we just suck it out and accept that there will be a little left. Filters are accessed on the side of the engine and I usually catch them in a plastic bag otherwise they always spill some oil! Hope that explains it a bit? It’ll be a while until I do it again but I’ll try to film a bit more next time. Cheers for now 😊⛵️
You need an App to find everything!! What make are those comfortable deck seats your using?
An Intrepid Bear app….that’s an idea! 😊 The seats are called “Comfort Seats” I think that’s the brand name, Generically they are called sports seats I think. Trem make a cheaper version but they aren’t as good as the actual Comfort Seats 😊
@@FollowIntrepidBear We just bought a pair a couple of weeks ago; they've revolutionised our comfort on longer passages.
Awesome!!
Great video. Learned a few things! Honestly haven’t seen a Dorade box before. Also good tip on moving the wind scoops a certain way to have airflow throughout the saloon
Thanks Kellie, glad you enjoyed it and picked up a couple of things. It wasn’t an easy video to make compared to a normal sailing video and I thought it was at risk of being boring so I’m glad you liked it 😊
I loved the acrobat's 😂! Even more I loved how you explained things.. enough info that I understood and quick enough that it flew by! Well done! Love the boat! If you ever need a crew I'm a 52 yr old novice that fell in love with sailing please just holler! I'm your girl!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the tour and our lovely boat 😍⛵️
I know its an old video but a have a q - is a najad 390 the predecessor to the 391 ?
That’s right..the 390 and 391 are very similar, they share the same basic hull but the 391 has a sugar scoop transom with steps whereas the 390 has a flat transom. There are other minor differences but you are right that the 390 is the predecessor to the 391 👍🏻⛵️
@@FollowIntrepidBear thanks! Seen you on Facebook over the last year, thought I'd come see the yt channel - now I want a najad 390 😂
We’re selling our 391 as it happens 😉😊⛵️
@@FollowIntrepidBear sadly, don't think I'm in the position to buy a blue water cruiser at 16!! I'll stick to my 20ft boat - for now 😂
Ah…fair enough! You’re doing great to have a 20 footer so I’m sure there’s a blue water cruiser in your future one day…Good luck 👍🏻😊⛵️
A view from the UK. Now then, wot are you doing in the south of France. You told us, after fulfilling your dream you would "probably" be cruising northern Europe this year - Baltic in my language. Wot happened? The best laid plans of mice and men heh? The websites look like you are on the hard on the canal St Louis. No, don't tell me, let me wait for season 4. BTW; I'd love to be a patreon but circumstances, as you know, have made me rely purely on a basic pension,,....,,now when i win the lottery, that's another matter. So thanks for keeping an old man entertained and amused, love it.
Hi Robert…I think you need to watch the winds of change again, you failed the observation round 😉😂😂 Our plan is to be back in the U.K. in time for this coming winter (although there’s always flexibility!) and Northern Europe will be from 2024. We’ve hauled out in Port St Louis du Rhone as we have an important family wedding to fly home for so will be away from the boat for up to a month. We hope to get a French visa whilst back there that might allow us to stay longer in schengen and thus relax a bit about the northbound journey. The outcome of that visa application will shape the rest of this season 🤞🏼😊 We don’t actually have a patreon account as yet and if we do put one up we will expect nothing from anyone. Just watching and occasional commenting helps a lot. We don’t do it for the money but some have said they’d like to help and as it’s actually quite an expensive hobby (cameras drones computers etc) we won’t look a gift horse in the mouth but we certainly won’t expect anything from anybody we are happy that people enjoy it and we love the connections we make through our social media so I definitely don’t want anyone feeling any pressure on the patreon thing. We make a trickle from ads and as we grow that will help pay for crashed drones so your watching and interacting helps more than you know as it makes UA-cam share us more and more 😊 Thanks for your kind words as ever but you’ll have to be a bit more patient for Northern Europe im afraid…we’re on our way though 👍🏻🇬🇧😊
@@FollowIntrepidBear Oh dear, i hope it's not dementia creeping up from behind. You are quite right Sir. I will put it down to my enthusiasm and enjoyment of your channel. Cannot wait for the further exploits.
Now then, i've a bone to pick with you 2. Since watching your channel and since doing my Boat handling course, the VHF exam and day sailing ticket (Motorboats), down in Southampton - (i live in Cambridge), for any future holiday involving Croatia and a hired boat. But, i'm now feeling all jolly sailor and have started looking at 50-60ft sailing yachts rather than motor cruisers. Like you i was "seduced" by motor cruisers but, again, like you it was the cost of filling it up that was putting me off. Sailing is the more "environmental way of doing boating. So, when we win the lottery, we'll be looking at either an Amel 50/60 or a 62ft Garcia or maybe an Oyster 60. Have you kept up with the ease in which you can "2 hand" these yachts from the cockpit, amazing. As i mentioned before, 72yrs and still dreaming. Funnily enough, having children is rarely mentioned nowadays..... speak soon, Rob & Linda.
