  • In one of our recent videos we had a bit of a problem with our coping saw (also known as a frame saw) falling apart while we were trying to use it. So in this video, we will be building a new one from scratch. Stumpy Nubs built a kit for this that was similar to the one we made in this video, but we can’t afford it. So here’s a more affordable option for those of you who like making more work for yourselves, but also like saving money.

I haven't made a coping saw in years and this reminded me how much I enjoyed making one and then using it afterwards. I have a pile of 1"×2" Mahogany boards I ripped down for a piece of furnature i made that I have had forever. Much better than my first one that I made 40 years ago!

It's always a cool feeling when you get to build a tool and then use it on another project.

Nice video. Having done table saw work professionally for almost 40 yrs let me tell you to chunk those push sticks in the garbage and make yourself some safe and effective pusher/hold downs instead. Tons of patterns out there- just make certain that there is a heel on the back and the bottom is flat and stable. I have half a dozen for various situations, and still have all 10 fingers. Went ahead and liked and subbed to see how you get along. Used to have apprentices for my comic relief but nobody does that anymore so have to watch YT lol. Happy to help if you ask.

Thanks for following! I agree push sticks are not the best solution, and I am looking into other options.

Yeah.. combination of being homesteader, craftsman, blacksmith, Sawyer, luthier, car mechanic, hoarder, woodworker, and handyman don't coincide well with keeping a clean shop. Also probably would help if I learned what a broom was.😂

Nice! I did build one exactly the same size a few years ago (during Covid lockdown). It is almost identical to yours except it has two handles.

Innovative then you could pull or push depending on the situation. By the way I liked your head set rack. The wood grain was really cool.

@@jlinkels I under stand that. I'm using a phone for my main recording devise at the moment, and at one point I used some clamps to hold the phone.😄

Hey boss, enjoyed your video. Play with your sound levels some, so your voice is more “on top”. Makes you easier to listen too. I mean when you’re speaking over the music.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I got it closer on my most recent video, but I do need to work a little harder on balancing the sound in editing.

Try using a powered cutoff tool, (mine Harbor Freight - 3 inch), to cut slots in steal parts. They are small and easy to use, allowing accurate cuts.

I'm behind a few videos and catching up. Nice job.
Observations for improvement, but only after saying how much you folks have grown in your technique and skill.
The first part had more bass on your voice. It may have been an accident, but it sounded great. The old time story teller.
Others mentioned the music volume being too high and drowning your voice.
Overall, you are doing great. Nice project.

Yeah audio correction is an ongoing struggle we're thinking of upgrading the speakers on the computer as well as setting up the phones with their own mic.

Interesting video, however the music is too loud I can’t hear you talking. I’m old but there are others like me with hearing issues. Perhaps when talking have no music. I can’t subscribe if other videos are like this as it is frustrating. Thanks and keep figuring things out

Understandable. It's a work in progress getting the audio right. We are going to invest in some mics for the phones and work out audio balance in editing. Thankyou for the feed back.
