That might be so, but he still loved Sasuke. Sasuke was young and innocent, he didn't see death. He didn't go to a battlefield and see mangled corpses. He didn't get his innocence destroyed before he had his chance of experiencing his childhood. Itachi, however, did. He saw the real world of Naruto when he was young, and that made him strong - he got his training early, etc. So, when Itachi recieved news of the coup, I think he wanted to preserve Sasuke's innocence and not tell him, which he later regretted because he believed that Sasuke could have saved them. But he didn't, so he had to kill the clan. By doing so, however, he knew that he will destroy Sasuke's innocence. At that point, he probably knew that he was going to be seen as the villain, but Sasuke wasn't good enough to defeat him, so he had to give him motivation. Namely, making Sasuke hate him. And it worked. Monsters are strong, so turning Sasuke into a monster made him strong. So he destroyed Sasuke's innocence, and made him motivated to kill Itachi. Now you might be wondering why Itachi didn't say stuff like 'protect your precious people from me because you love them'. That's because Sasuke didn't have friends outside of the clan. Naruto didn't count, his fangirls didn't. And if he threatened to kill the village as well it was more likely that Sasuke didn't care, since the Uchiha was everything to Sasuke. So, after love, hatred and revenge was the next best fuel for power. Yes, he did all of that. He killed innocent lives. But don't forget that as an Akatsuki, he would have to obey the Leader's orders, or it'll be suspicious. If any of the Akatsuki, perhaps minus Kisame, found out about his spying, he would be turned over to Pein and get killed. That meant that Konoha will have no more information about the Akatsuki and will be vulnerable to attacks by the Akatsuki that might happen after his death. And thus, he had to obey the Akatsuki's orders and kill innocent lives, because that was what the Akatsuki did. The 4th Shinobi War is the same as the Akatsuki cause it was started by it. The family of the jinchuuriki - Akatsuki. He ' brutally tortured, beat into a coma, lied, manipulated and betrayed his own brother and turned Sasuke into a monster'. Well, I explained some, but not everything. In the world of Naruto, they thrive on bloodshed, like I said. So, the more traumatic the event a shinobi goes through, the more likely the person is going to be stronger. Just look at Naruto, after his loneliness. So, it was possible that he wanted Sasuke to go through more to make him stronger. And then Sasuke, can kill Itachi, and since Itachi was a villain, Sasuke will be hailed as a hero. We know that part. Right. I know Itachi might have had better options than to get Sasuke to hate him, but remember: he has the sickness thingy. Maybe his mind was in a mess because of it. Shock, or something. Maybe he just wanted to die at Sasuke's hands, looking at him and stuff. Either way, I don't have the answers and you can go ask Kishimoto. When I first saw Itachi I hated him alot. He had such a cold personality plus he killed his entire clan and tried to kill his own brother. But when I actually got to know the truth, I felt so bad that I cried for 20 mins straight. Especially for the reason that I despised him so much and he turned out to be someone even greater than a hero. I have never ever been so emotional in my life before. Itachi truly was a man who the world only saw the likes of every thousand years or so. He was kind, pure-hearted, and loving and yet killed his clan, took the title of 'traitor', and left the village to protect it. Itachi was the definition of selflessness, giving up his childhood, any chance at happiness, and eventually his life for the sake of those he considered precious to him. A true shinobi is willing to protect their home from the shadows, without recognition or fame, and die for the place they love so much. Itachi was the greatest character in Naruto. Giving up absolutely everything for the sake of his village - and he still died with a smile on his face. I actually started sobbing while watching this video. The song just fits so perfectly with Itachi, MAJOR feels.

But when I found out the truth about Itachi, saying that I was shocked is an understatement. I liked Itachi when I first saw him in Naruto S1 but after that man. He is my favourite anime character and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way.

It's ok if you don't like Itachi (even if it is a little bit weird that you write essays about what a bad char itachi is under so many videos, but well, that's your thing), but it's absolutely false if you are saying that itachi is a selfish Villian. You hate that he is considered as a hero, but the problem is, that he actually is a hero. you have to read the full text to understand my opinion let's talk about some important points: what itachi did: I think you know about that. let's stay short here. he killed his clan apart of sasuke (even his parents) and forced sasuke to see it afterwards through a gen jutsu. he told him that the reason was a really simple one: he wanted to test his Strength. Background: The Uchiha clan wanted to start an attack on the village to get their old position and reputation back. Itachi hated war, as he was a pacifist so he told the hokage about the plan of the Uchiha clan. Itachi got the order to kill them, so it don't even comes as far. he accepts but don't kills sasuke as he loves him to much why he did / what would have happened if he refused: In case of an attack of the Uchiha clan, it would come to a big war, maybe even the next ninja worldwar, as many other villages would start to take part in the conflict. The Uchia clan would most likely lose and get eliminated, as he is now, but there would be so many more victims, it would be on a completely other level. Itachi don't wanted this why didn't he told sasuke the truth: He don't wanted Sasuke to see his clan and his parents as bad people and also don't wanted Sasuke to hate the village and fight against it for making a murder out of Itachi. So he took everything on his own shoulders so he is the only bad guy. he wanted Sasuke to only hate him (and maybe even get stronger through this). He shouldn't hate the village, his clan, his parents or even himself for being an Uchiha. why Itachi is a Hero now? He acted like one!!! Itachi acted completely selfless and only out of love for the village and most importantly for sasuke. he killed the clan, but not out of hate. he did it for the peace. he did it knowing that they are going to die anyway but there wouldn't be other victims additionally. he did it for sasuke (as I all explained in the text). an most importantly, he did never wanted to be called a hero for it. he never had a problem with the fact that everybody thinks he is a brutal, selfish murder ( like you think about him). he did not care, as long as he protected the people he loves.

Itachi was not Konoha's go-to whenever it got dangerous, no, itachi was left with almost no other choice but to exterminate the entire clan because they had to make a move fast as the coupe was already planned and ready for execution when the Konoha's lead heard about it, and an assassination with the help of an Uchiha over night would be the fastest, most efficient and most importantly, safest strategy to minimize the suffers. This is why Itachi killed the Uchihas but not the villagers of the sand: partly because the Uchiha assassination was an exception due to timing and that he was an Anbu at that time and he was no longer a member of the Village of the Leafs anymore, but an Akatsuki with a new strategy to do the best he can to control the village from the outside. So even saying that, due he was moving along with akatsuki, he wasn't near the Village could be a plausible reason as to why he didn't protect it against the Village of the Sand, simply because he could have been kidnapping someone for akatsuki for example. We can't know about that. And no you're wrong: if the Uchiha had revolted against the Village, the lead would have fought the Uchiha back with more Ninja's, and as we know, the Uchihas are the strongest among ninja tribes, so the entire Village would have been damaged. You saying that Itachi is ignorant or serving just Danzo or that he doesn't care is also not true: did he look like he was satisfied or particularly happy with his decision of assassinating his own clan through the course of Shippuden? The answer is clearly no. He was melancholic and his psyche was broken. Does this look to you like a man not caring about his actions? He knew that what he did was the wrong thing to do, and that the burden of his actions would follow him for the rest of his life, but he had to make that big decision in a very short time. And that's why he is loved and cherished as a side character by so many. Also, let's get things straight, danzo isn't the bad guy here. Sure he wanted to become all the time, but as the series tried to tell us: his way of protecting the village was through the shadows.

In Naruto, unlike our world, things aren't that simple, democracy practically doesn't exist. They feed on death and blood, and as a ninja clan, the Uchiha raised itachi this way - to be a killer. That might be so, but he still loved Sasuke.
Sasuke was young and innocent, he didn't see death. He didn't go to a battlefield and see mangled corpses. He didn't get his innocence destroyed before he had his chance of experiencing his childhood. Itachi, however, did. He saw the real world of Naruto when he was young, and that made him strong - he got his training early, etc. So, when Itachi recieved news of the coup, I think he wanted to preserve Sasuke's innocence and not tell him, which he later regretted because he believed that Sasuke could have saved them. But he didn't, so he had to kill the clan.
By doing so, however, he knew that he will destroy Sasuke's innocence. At that point, he probably knew that he was going to be seen as the villain, but Sasuke wasn't good enough to defeat him, so he had to give him motivation. Namely, making Sasuke hate him. And it worked. Monsters are strong, so turning Sasuke into a monster made him strong.
So he destroyed Sasuke's innocence, and made him motivated to kill Itachi.
Now you might be wondering why Itachi didn't say stuff like 'protect your precious people from me because you love them'. That's because Sasuke didn't have friends outside of the clan. Naruto didn't count, his fangirls didn't. And if he threatened to kill the village as well it was more likely that Sasuke didn't care, since the Uchiha was everything to Sasuke. So, after love, hatred and revenge was the next best fuel for power.
Yes, he did all of that. He killed innocent lives. But don't forget that as an Akatsuki, he would have to obey the Leader's orders, or it'll be suspicious. If any of the Akatsuki, perhaps minus Kisame, found out about his spying, he would be turned over to Pein and get killed. That meant that Konoha will have no more information about the Akatsuki and will be vulnerable to attacks by the Akatsuki that might happen after his death. And thus, he had to obey the Akatsuki's orders and kill innocent lives, because that was what the Akatsuki did.
The 4th Shinobi War is the same as the Akatsuki cause it was started by it.

And then Sasuke, can kill Itachi, and since Itachi was a villain, Sasuke will be hailed as a hero. We know that part.
Right. I know Itachi might have had better options than to get Sasuke to hate him, but remember: he has the sickness thingy. Maybe his mind was in a mess because of it. Shock, or something. Maybe he just wanted to die at Sasuke's hands, looking at him and stuff. Either way, I don't have the answers and you can go ask Kishimoto.
I just don't like you parading around, acting like your opinion should be the world's. Knowing sasuke's age and his thoughts about his brother would've made him find a loophole or an ulterior objective to itachi's actions. When I first saw Itachi I hated him alot. He had such a cold personality plus he killed his entire clan and tried to kill his own brother. But when I actually got to know the truth, I felt so bad that I cried for 20 mins straight. +God-Emperor of Mankind Well, his plan was to take care of a problem that needed to be solved since the Uchiha didn't show any sign of backing down from their hate and didn't want to kill his brother but instead make him powerful enough to at least make it seem like Sasuke is strong enough to kill him, and also be the hero who killed the psychopath who murdered his own clan. And live happily ever after in the village they both loved... that said, if you were in Itachi's shoes you would have been crying and pleading for peace which was not going to happen and get double the victims and probably eternal fear and hate towards the Uchiha.

If you don not know the complete story do not read further(*spoilers*).....Itachi killed the Uchiha clan to stop their coup de tat......and Itachi made the third Hokage promise that he would look after Sasuke while he was gone.....He even made a deal with Madara(here, Tobi)....so that he would help him kill the uchihas but not lay a finger on Sasuke!.....I don't know about you but I think that shows, he loves Sauke the most even if he knew he was going to die soon (itachi has a terminal disease)

I remember when I used to watch Naruto AMV all the time. This was one of the first I've ever seen and I couldn't really speak english at that time and I didn't understand anything about this. But when I found out the truth about Itachi, saying that I was shocked is an understatement. I liked Itachi when I first saw him in Naruto S1 but after that man. He is my favourite anime character and I'm pretty sure it will stay that way.
Itachi is someone I will always admire. I took it upon myself to be a better sibling to my own little sister after I learned his story. We have become very close since then and I love her dearly. I don't know if you are going to read this, but let me explain something to you. Your problem is, that you don't think far enough. It's ok if you don't like Itachi (even if it is a little bit weird that you write essays about what a bad char itachi is under so many videos, but well, that's your thing), but it's absolutely false if you are saying that itachi is a selfish Villian. You hate that he is considered as a hero, but the problem is, that he actually is a hero. you have to read the full text to understand my opinion
let's talk about some important points:
what itachi did:
I think you know about that. let's stay short here. he killed his clan apart of sasuke (even his parents) and forced sasuke to see it afterwards through a gen jutsu. he told him that the reason was a really simple one:
he wanted to test his Strength.
Background:
The Uchiha clan wanted to start an attack on the village to get their old position and reputation back. Itachi hated war, as he was a pacifist so he told the hokage about the plan of the Uchiha clan. Itachi got the order to kill them, so it don't even comes as far. he accepts but don't kills sasuke as he loves him to much
why he did / what would have happened if he refused:
In case of an attack of the Uchiha clan, it would come to a big war, maybe even the next ninja worldwar, as many other villages would start to take part in the conflict. The Uchia clan would most likely lose and get eliminated, as he is now, but there would be so many more victims, it would be on a completely other level. Itachi don't wanted this
why didn't he told sasuke the truth:
He don't wanted Sasuke to see his clan and his parents as bad people and also don't wanted Sasuke to hate the village and fight against it for making a murder out of Itachi. So he took everything on his own shoulders so he is the only bad guy. he wanted Sasuke to only hate him (and maybe even get stronger through this). He shouldn't hate the village, his clan, his parents or even himself for being an Uchiha.
why Itachi is a Hero now?

Itachi acted completely selfless and only out of love for the village and most importantly for sasuke. he killed the clan, but not out of hate. he did it for the peace. he did it knowing that they are going to die anyway but there wouldn't be other victims additionally. he did it for sasuke (as I all explained in the text). an most importantly, he did never wanted to be called a hero for it. he never had a problem with the fact that everybody thinks he is a brutal, selfish murder ( like you think about him). he did not care, as long as he protected the people he loves.

Itachi was not Konoha's go-to whenever it got dangerous, no, itachi was left with almost no other choice but to exterminate the entire clan because they had to make a move fast as the coupe was already planned and ready for execution when the Konoha's lead heard about it, and an assassination with the help of an Uchiha over night would be the fastest, most efficient and most importantly, safest strategy to minimize the suffers. This is why Itachi killed the Uchihas but not the villagers of the sand: partly because the Uchiha assassination was an exception due to timing and that he was an Anbu at that time and he was no longer a member of the Village of the Leafs anymore, but an Akatsuki with a new strategy to do the best he can to control the village from the outside. So even saying that, due he was moving along with akatsuki, he wasn't near the Village could be a plausible reason as to why he didn't protect it against the Village of the Sand, simply because he could have been kidnapping someone for akatsuki for example. We can't know about that. And no you're wrong: if the Uchiha had revolted against the Village, the lead would have fought the Uchiha back with more Ninja's, and as we know, the Uchihas are the strongest among ninja tribes, so the entire Village would have been damaged. You saying that Itachi is ignorant or serving just Danzo or that he doesn't care is also not true: did he look like he was satisfied or particularly happy with his decision of assassinating his own clan through the course of Shippuden? The answer is clearly no. He was melancholic and his psyche was broken. Does this look to you like a man not caring about his actions? He knew that what he did was the wrong thing to do, and that the burden of his actions would follow him for the rest of his life, but he had to make that big decision in a very short time. And that's why he is loved and cherished as a side character by so many.
Also, let's get things straight, danzo isn't the bad guy here. Sure he wanted to become all the time, but as the series tried to tell us: his way of protecting the village was through the shadows.
