While I love the workout videos, this was BY FAR one of my favorites. Hearing Josh talk about his mentality in not letting down the guy standing next to him, as well as maintaining the high standards of the team at all times, is absolutely priceless. It made me want to instantly hold myself to higher standards than I already hold. This video would be great for teenagers to learn how to be their best. Love it!
Love how REAL this is. CrossFit as a whole puts on this “ we’re all the greatest and nicest “ and you cussing and showing this realism was awesome! Love the channel and content, Much love , boom !
dang sometimes i forget how amazing you are and then you do something like this being of service. you should give talks like this at high schools, corporations, athletic teams, etc.
Being in the miliary myself, having a pretty high op tempo, to me it's incredible that You got to the CrossFit games muliple times, and mannaged to keep up with a full time job in the Teams. Hats off to You Josh 💪
This is fucking dope. As someone who went active duty to le (swat) and back to active duty, who now follows your programming this is the type of shit that shows why if you are training to be prepared for life and work you’re the best in the business
I was on a SWAT team for a major PD back in the early 1990's. We had the opportunity to train with Richard Marcinko and some of his fellow SEAL Team members. Very interesting, to say the least.
Love to see Josh this way, you can tell he really tones it down in his regular videos but hear in a some what military environment the soldier comes out in him and every other word is a curse word 🤣🤣🤣
As just a rock eating grunt in the Corps, him saying “not alot of athletes” made me chuckle. I think its just like that everywhere. The amount of guys that cant throw a freaking ball or weren’t that explosive blew my mind. All they knew was run, hike, and carry heavy shit.
Goes to show you, given his discussion on the variety in backgrounds and types in the Navy Seals, who you think is going to make it and who is not, the one commonality - the mental (fortitude) aspect. These guys were all compartmentalizing Spartan freaks.
I appreciate how Josh is the guest and everyone is honored to meet him. That's how you know how stand up JB is. Also, badass way to live your life to acknowledge a bad handshake and then reshake. THEY AINT TEACHING THAT IN SCHOOLS THESE DAYS.
Truly inspiring. Not letting your fellow soldiers/teammates down, making yourself stronger than ever and having that resiliency is key. Loved this vid. Always great content Josh, yet this one was a wicked one! 🤙🏼🪖
13:10 Josh is standing bladed off in an athletic stance ready to move, the entire SWAT team is standing squared off to the target in a non athletic stance meaning you push them with barely any force from the front and they have nothing to stop them from falling backwards and also, they are not ready to be athletic in that position, they aren’t ready to take an athletic step, they aren’t in a position to fight, to do anything really. Train around enough SOF guys especially Tier 1 guys and you will be told from guys with experience why it is so important.
Yeah, need the athletic stance, but also need to have chest plates presented towards the target. Also, he’s doing a poor job at managing that rifles recoil. Check out Slade (SCirregulars) stance vids. He was devgru tier 1. Seals are tier 2.
These videos always baffle the F out of me. These guys are suppose to be "Elite" but the majority of these dudes would be ran over by the average 2 gun shooter. There is more to the job than shooting but to think these guys are SWAT and their training consists of static range fundamentals is kind of crazy.
I’d be interested to know how current you felt doing the CQB and shooting drills and how much you feel that your athleticism being able to to just grab and go on this sort of thing plays a factor in your overall performance.
He looked a little rusty shooting that rifle while moving to be honest and that’s why he said, it’s been a while. He’s also a smaller guy and that rifle even though Ar’s don’t have much recoil at all, it was moving him around a bit which was throwing off his smoothness IMO
Completely normal!!! It’s called being a gentleman in the streets and a freak in the sheets! When I’m around the other 40 guys at work it’s game on!! He’s at work he’s a man and this is a man at work lol
I was in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2012 too, but obviously British Army.. I dunno what Josh means by it wasn't the highest times, but if he means it wasn't as kinetic or dangerous that must be because of the AO he was in maybe or maybe he means by his standards? I dunno, because 2012 Helmand Province near the NEB canal, Nad E Ali district, we were balls to the wall! We were the Brigade Reconnaissance Force(A sort of recce/Strike force) and my Troop of 25 guys, 2nd Troop, lost 9 casualties, all seriously wounded, 3rd Troop lost 5 casualties just as bad and 1st Troop, lucky number 1 lost only one guy wounded! Luckily we had no deaths.. But there was an infantry Battalion next to us that had 9 guys killed and 21 wounded.. It was the time our governments announced that combat operations in the south of Afghanistan would be scaled down and we'd be pulling back towards Kabul, the 500 brits left the area around us and the local Taliban stepped up attacks especially in our area because they wanted to be able to tell the locals they chased us out instead of us leaving of our own will.

Josh,
My new favorite video. You said it best. It is about the person next to me. It is reason I train. Working as a confined space rescue tech.
