I grew up in the 70's. The music was amazing. All I listen to is 70's music. I drummed that music into the heads of my four children when they were growing up. They can barely listen to today's music. Why, because they know what great music sounds like!!
Stevie Wonder made Talking Book, Innervisions, Fullfingness First Finale, Song In The Key Of Life all back to back through the 70’s and every single one of these albums is pure perfection.
Hey A&A! Way back when I was a child, my father bought the album "Songs in the Key of Life" for me as an Xmas present. In fact, he bought two copies. The other copy was for him. I've known since I was a kid how brilliant and special the music on that album is. My Dad passed away some years ago. The song "As" helped me process that grief. Whenever I hear this song, I think of him and all the bonds we shared. Especially the love of music like this that we shared with each other. Peace, guys.
My dad and I shared a music bond as well. I have the album cover of my first album that he gave me when I was 10, in a frame on my wall. No clue what happened to the record. 😊
@@TischTosh It should have been an ad for the album back when it was released - "Songs in the key of life" - the new Stevie Wonder album so good, you'll want to buy two copies!"
Just imagine what it did to us 15 year olds back in 1976 when this record was played during recess in the school cafeteria! For months we kept asking to play this whole album again and again. We saved our allowance for weeks, bought the album and memorized all the lyrics. I still play the album and can still sing it word for word.
You can imagine being in my 20s and having this rock down the halls of the Air Force barracks. Ok, it was coming from my room, but everyone was listening.

"Innervisions" was him saying "I am the greatest". Fulfillingness' First Finale was him saying "I aint' done" and "Songs in the key of life" was him saying "And I am forever".
Arguably Stevie Wonder’s most powerful love song. The keyboard work is what gets me every time, the Rhodes runs in the same vein of Billy Preston, and of course the raspy vocals are killer. One of my all time favourite love songs :))
There really is nothing quite like the sound of a Rhodes piano. And Stevie Wonder uses it so beautifully. And it goes without saying that Wonder's voice is beyond compare.

Songs In The Key Of Life was not only a double album, it also included a 3rd disk, a 7 inch EP with an additional 4 songs! And basically every track was killer in one way or another. Also, I spoke to him on the phone once, just for 15 seconds or so, but still. He called the recording studio where I worked, wanting to leave a message with my boss. I took the message and he gave me his real name, Steveland Morris, which I somehow happened to know. I hung up and said to my friend, "I was just talking to Stevie Wonder!!"
