  • Part 2 of this series: Learn to fly the Clover Leaf, Cuban 8, Reverse Cuban 8, Barrel Roll and a Wing Over. All of these will be using the Just Flight Hawk T1 flown down to 200ft using real techniques with accurate demos and commentary. The airfield I'm flying from is Inverness, UK (EGPE).
    PART 1 available here: • PART 1: Fly Aerobatics...
    Caveat: I'm a real Hawk pilot but I'm no Red Arrow! There are many ways of flying each manoeuvre, but here's my advice for successful aeros in Microsoft Flight Sim. I also include an uninterrupted version of the sequence so that you can get a feel for how the aeros can flown from one to the next. Feel free to skip through the chapters but don't miss out on all the top tips along the way. I hope that you find it useful/entertaining.

    Wow. The graphics not only on flight simulators but on computer games generally, are so good that pretty soon it will be difficult to differentiate between a simulation and reality. It begs the very much pondered question further, from a quantum physical view point, is our perception of our mere existence reality or a simulation? Are you a pilot yourself? It seems as if you need to be in order to operate these simulators. I am not a gamer myself. Great channel, by the way!

Good to see when sat on the battlements of the fort. Do you ever get to do any real world flying nowadays? (front seat!). Great video Chris! Keep up the great content! Quick question ….why is it that some parts of the Red’s routine is done with the air brake deployed ?

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 роки тому +1

      I can’t remember precisely but I believe it allows them to control speed while having the power steady. Airbrake is easier to match with the leader than him changing his power setting.

    • @steveunwin830
      @steveunwin830 2 роки тому +2

      I think also that the air brake is sometimes used to allow high power settings and slow speed for a much denser smoke effect. The Frecce Tricolori use this to great effect when they paint the Italian flag across the airfield.

      A Derry Turn is a steep turn in one direction for 45 degrees reducing bank to let the nose climb, rolling underneath and completing the turn in the other direction. I’m guessing a wingover version would involve a climb. Maybe there’s room for a 3rd aeros hawk video! 😄

    Hi there.
    Another quality video, nice work. 👍🏼 A former Hawk pilot? Im typically not an envious man…..until I am. You’re very fortunate. A few questions:
    1) what are those tubes going through the canopy? Defrosters? Why don’t other aircraft have them?
    2) as someone who has flown the Hawk IRL, how do you think this measures up in general handling characteristics and feel to the real thing? Is there anything you want improved or find very inaccurate in its modeling?

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 роки тому +1

      Tubes in canopy = MDC: Military Det Cord. It shatters the canopy on ejection to let the seat through. Some aircraft use MDC, some jettison the canopy first and thus doesn’t need MDC. Handling wise, it’s pretty darn good! The only issue is the spin characteristics. This is a current limitation of MSFS as they don’t really model swept wings very well!

    Yep I stayed with you until the end! I just discovered you a few days ago, and subscribed!
    I also bought the brilliant JF Hawk 3 days ago. Since the release of FS in Aug 2020, I flew mostly the Extra, and I like the spot landing challenges as well (managed top 10 a few times). Fortunately, the Extra has been improved in SU6, but not perfect yet.
    On approach the Extra never wants to slow down, so I must glide for a while until it will settle on a runway. *I am coming to the Hawk soon...*
    This is what I can do with the Extra. I like mountain aerobatics, in small valleys, because you don't have the real horizon, so you must be careful and watch the instruments as well, with settings Hard:
    ua-cam.com/video/kLzXM_RyDQs/v-deo.html
    Now back to the Hawk: 2 questions:
    1. Unlike the Extra, the JF Hawk slows down down very fast with gear down and full flaps, so I must put quite a lot of throttle to avoid stalling. *Is this the case in the real Hawk as well?* I have the Extra in my DNA now, so I have to be careful in the Hawk.
    2. I have my settings as Hard. In the JF Hawk, it's very easy to over G; there is no warning, just a black end screen saying I overstressed the aircraft. Is this a bug in the JF Hawk, as I guess the real Hawk would protect from that.
    I am from Switzerland, but lives in London, UK, hence I like flying in Switzerland:
    Here, where I grew up, the scenery is brilliant (heavy landing, I must be more generous on the throttle!): ua-cam.com/video/Uj4BkkzXVdo/v-deo.html
    Here, in Meiringen, Axalp, Sphinx observatory, Matterhorn: ua-cam.com/video/Bzl-KVpfV0E/v-deo.html

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 роки тому +1

      Good questions! The drag is very nicely simulated. As soon as you drop gear and flap below 200kt you need to anticipate applying 87-89% RPM to hold 150kt. The leave the power when you start your final approach but select full flap. Works a treat! Just like real!
      I always monitor the G meter when I start my pull up for manoeuvres. I’ve got a good feel from my extended warthog joystick so that makes it easier. Whilst you can over g the real thing, and it doesn’t actually protect you from over g, you have to be grossly aggressive with the stick. It’s difficult to perceive G onset in the sim. I’m thinking that may be the main issue for some. Hope that helps 👍🏻

    • @raymondgoubet
      @raymondgoubet 2 роки тому +1

      @@cgaviator Ah Thank you Chris for the reply. OK for the approach. This is very helpful.
      I do monitor the G meter, but I have an old AV8R stick from ~2008, and it moves sometimes a bit too much. If I cut the end of pitch up in Sensitivity, I won't have enough up elevator at low speeds. I need something that stops huge deflections at higher speeds... I know many sticks, and first watch videos of product failures before I buy. I saw ~ 2 years ago that the Warthog had problems of "stiction" with some users, so waited. I like the Virpil controls too, but I would like to physically try them before buying, like in the old days.
      The Goshawk from IndiaFoxtEcho doesn't have an over G problem: it seems the aircraft protects from that...
      Something you may find interesting: I follow a real French Air Force pilot, ATE CHUET, who did the demo at Yeovilton (here in French: ua-cam.com/video/aUjeccnjBFM/v-deo.html), he does have videos in English too. Maybe you know him. In one of his videos he says that the Rafale can go to ... 11 Gs, and that... the pilot can also override that limit! Nice!
