3:06 "It really kickstarted the whole idea of fusion rifles being used as apart of the DPS rotation". It did not we shall never forget sleeper and cartesian coordinate.
I don’t say this often: This was, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and creative videos I’ve seen from a Destiny 2 creator in a long, long time.
I fully agree with your pick for Weapon of the Year. It really is a skeleton key for any activity, and it was my go to primary for any new and potentially difficult activity I went into blind this year. Conditional Finality is good and all, but it doesn’t have the honor of being a default loadout weapon like Quicksilver Storm does.
Quicksilver really ain't all that surprising. Not only is it the swiss army knife of guns, it can also be kinetik and strand. having 2 energy types is insane, as you can get the damage boost for all kinetik type builds and go with the strand synergies with the gun, while it still performs so well anywhere
I always wanna run it but it would require me to put down Rufus Fury and that ain't happening. Rufus is my favorite weapon in the entire game without question..
Worst exotic award is so fitting. You mentioned lightfall exotic that you never used, I was thinking "Oh that stasis glaive? Like its not great but i wouldn't call it the worst thing", Just completely forgetting Deterministic chaos was a weapon that existed at all.
This was incredibly entertaining to watch. Just such an enjoyable destiny video that sits well above many of the "series" content videos that are rampant. In a time where there's not much variety in the destiny content being made, this was a great breath of fresh air that kept my interest the entire time. Well done. Truly. My award for destiny content creator of the year goes to you.
Seeing you put Abyss Defiant as most underrated Legendary just made me cheer. Everyone I know said "It's Meh, not that great", and yet from the moment I got it I fell in love with it and have been getting through PvE and PvP with it and always felt like it was slept on
Hard agree. I put 2.5k on my normal rng drop that has Heal Clip/Incandescent. I ended up spending nearly 900 spoils to get an Adept roll and I don't regret it.
Unsure if this counts, since it's not a D2 weapon, but I think a SOLID runner-up to Apex Predator for "most improved" is Zaouli's Bane. Before Sunshot got buffed (again), Zaouli's was basically the same gun, but it didn't take up your exotic slot. The combo of explosive rounds and Incandescent, in addition to the Origin Trait that can give you up to 6 extra bullets in the mag, vaulted this HC from arguably the worst legendary weapon in D1 to one of the top primaries in the game. It also just got a reload animation fix, so it feels less clunky to use if you're trying to reload-cancel all the time.
honestly, i couldn't agree more about quicksilver being weapon of the year, I used it in checkmate trials and managed to go flawless for the first time ever. It felt absolutely amazing
That’s such a banger track to announce quicksilver. Excellent video nomad. I watch you for the dialogue, the comedy, the consideration. Excellent work.
love this video but fusion rifles like cartesian co-ordinate with Vorpal have been meta DPS options since like season of the lost, especially for bosses that cant recieve critical damage from slug shotguns back when they were uber meta
Gotta say really enjoy your video's man, you've been able to still put out a lot of fun and enjoyable content at a time when most creators are just branching away from the game or dismantling it further. Not that both of these actions aren't understandable or acceptable. It's just refreshing to have some unique and enjoyable content in this low period of the game. Genuinely look forward to your vids and wish you the best this coming year
Nomad I LOVED this video, cant wait for the destiny weapon awards for 2024 but PLEASE add the category for the best looking weapon, no matter how good or bad is, it just looks cool, sounds great, and even the lore behind or something is worth it.
I definitely think this should be a yearly series! Maybe next time you could take inspiration from the game awards and have other Destiny creators on to hand out some of the awards
ok thank you for adding a nod to conditional for best overall. that gun has carried me in a lot of PvE and definitely gets that second spot for overall.
Another honourable mention for glow up: Polaris Lance. From sitting in a vault since warmind/forsaken, to absolute explosion monster with the seasonal artifact mods in season of the wish, it really has found it’s place and rivals sunshot in GM level activities. I’m really glad obscure weapons get brought back into the meta. Hell, even skyburner’s oath became meta for the proving grounds strike, and now we have old classics returning once more like Whisper of the Worm and Thorn. Everyone dunks on weapons like Queenbreaker or Wavesplitter, but who knows? We’ve had weapons no one ever gave a second glance at before return back. Maybe we’ll have them in the list next year.
There's a reason I call it Cooksilver these days. It is so absurdly strong and the only reason it hasn't been used more for me currently is because the artifact doesn't lean into strand as heavily as it does solar this season
I think Until it Returns is the most under-rated weapon this year. No one talks about or uses it, but with overflow/cascade point, it's absolutely incredible. It's overlooked for Swordbreaker and Heritage, which are amazing weapons(and so is this season's slug shotty with cascade point), but Until it's Return is litterly point and fire. Cascade Point is incredibly easy to proc on a special weapon, and when it's active, it's like a legendary 4th Horseman that can hold 16 rounds with overflow and doesn't kick to the sky. Craft one and try it out with Sunshot when you're not on a punch Titan build, and I promise it'll surprise you how well it bursts down nearly any enemy.
totally agree on quicksilver storm, its just an autorifle/grenade launcher combo. laserbeaming mobs from a distance and doing some very good damage on the launcher part. it has been and always will be my go to strand weapon.
Me and my brother both found 2 random godrolls in our vaults; he had a Kinetic Tremors, Rapid Hit Spare Rations and I had a Recontruction Bait and Switch non-crafted Apex Predator. Atleast I think those can be considered god rolls.
Crowning Duolouge and Deterministic Chaos being the 'worst' weapons shattered any trust I had in this channel. Crowning has never left my strand warlock and Deterministic has allowed me to solo dungeons that I never thought possible at my skill level.
I still think, to this day, that the most powerful aspect of the alt fire mode for quicksilver is the sheer fact of no self damage. That is a simply ridiculous addition to a already strong tool. No matter how swarmed you are, no matter how bad things get, you can whip out the old "GTFO" bomb and clear house. I can't think of a single ranged tool bar maybe tractor cannon that can safely do that.
A weapon i think is pretty iverlooked is the Tyranny of Heaven. Its adclear potential is trough the roof, especially with the artifact perks this season, it really slays out
@@kilickmarsh2793root is so easy. Definitely doable without a mic. And I’d say buying a mic just to get Conditional would be worth it lol. But yeah no mic needed. But for real you should start raiding. I just started raiding this year (been playing since D1) and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in the game.
Fusions have been meta for dps swaps ever since VOG was put in d2 possibly even before then but that’s when I remember everyone running them the most back when null composure came out
Really enjoyed this video, it felt like an actual award show where I hoped for my favorite weapons to get the recognition. Looking forward to next years ❤
Apex wasn't around for Red War, it came with Forsaken. Sins of the Past was the Red War Leviathan raid rocket and alongside Curtain Call made up one of the first dps metas.
I disagree about crowning duologue. I still use it often, especially this season. It overloads the mag to 5 with the right roll and fires quickly. With overload rockets on the table through the artifact it makes it an awesome grand master option right now.
I think salvations grip should have gotten best glow up, the thing went from only being used for a quest in beyond light and the exotic with the lowest usage to an actually useful stasis weapon, especially with shatter based builds.
As a Strand/Void Titan main for the last year, I used Deterministic Chaos until I got a God Roll Circular Logic. Then I finally unlocked a craftable Retrofit Escapade.
I feel like I've been transported back to the Red War this season, I'm running a Solar build with Celestial Nighthawk and Sunshot. But also highly agreed with Weapon of the Year. I pulled it out when I needed DPS from a primary will solo clutching a Coil where everyone else was dead and we had no revives in the final tier. I use it to crutch in PVP, the grenade mode doesn't splash you! And it just looks cool as hell. And I don't have Conditional Finality. Yep, Quicksilver is weapon of the year for sure.
From the day it was introduced, quicksilver was my 100% go-to for everything. I've never felt more joy for a weapon change than hearing that the reload animation was fixed to have the bullets put in at the same time as the animation puts them in. Pure bliss with it every time I use it, and it's my second most used PVE weapon in the game, behind calus mini-tool, for obvious reasons.
8:06 For me personally I'd have to give it to Kinetic Tremors. As someone who runs a lot of GMs (the best way to test if your PVE build is good) the ability to turn an average kinetic weapon into an ad clear machine is so underrated. With the enemies having their health, damage, and agro cranked to the max, being able to do 16k+ damage to EVERY single target affected by the tremors per burst in a GRANDMASTER over and over is pretty OP. It honestly should be a perk that should be on an exotic. It synergizes with perks like Shoot-to-loot and Demolitionist and Kinetic siphon mods and the tremors can stun champions when rolled on the corresponding weapon. 21:28 I'd have to give it to Wish-Ender. When you said it can be used for almost everything, I thought you'd go with a Kinetic Exotic. Wish-Ender is the only primary/infinite ammo weapon that can 1-shot Barrier champs, give you literal wallhacks, can be used at any range, pierce a single enemy THREE times including it precision damage + can damage multiple enemies behind the one you're shooting at, doesn't take up a heavy slot or an energy slot, free extra damage JUST BECAUSE it's a kinetic primary, and does free extra damage to Taken enemies, Heavy/special ammo finder works especially well with this (literally every 16 kills will drop a heavy brick), needs no setup for it to shine, and can be run on any class/subclass. I wasn't going to say this because it wasn't released in 2023 but when you said Tractor Cannon, it seems like for some categories you were looking for the weapon that shined the most this year. Plus I'm more biased towards PVE (because Destiny IS a PVE game. It CAN/DOES have a PVP (and glory to you if you enjoy it) but, if they allow so many one shot weapons like LMGs and Rocket launchers, swords, and SUPERS/Abilities in the mix it literally cannot be possible for Destiny 2 to be a legit PVP game hence why there's no official Esports league. There's just no room for outplay. They literally have perks/guns with homing bullets. C'mon be fr guys lol). But yeah other than that this video idea is very unique and I agreed with everything else. Can't wait to see next year's awards show
to be honest i think that osteo striga was and is also a competitor for weapon of the year just because of its ad clear potential in pve and its traking and pre- fireing capabilitis in pvp make it an all around great weapon even with its nerfs
Graviton is a close contender to sunshot in best improved weapon. It got its rate of fire change which destroyed crucibe for a bit and got 3 big pve buffs making it compete very well with sunshot. Only thing I would say sunshot does better is synergy/utility due to it inflicting scorch.
Most improved exotic is malfeasance, now is the most devastating primary weapon in the game. The sunshot is shining in this season for artifact perks, but malfeasance will rise again after this season
Honestly DPS shoutout to Whisper of the Worm, as it has the highest total damage out of probably Every Single Gun in the Game (don’t say primary weapons) and got probably over 30% total of damage buffs this year, try it out on a longer range boss like Oryx
Personally ive got to give best Utility to Buried Bloodline, Devour on any subclass feels amazing, especially on something like Renewal Grasps Hunter, plus its got decent damage and ammo economy too, I havent got its catalyst yet but free weaken on hit with devour active is just the cherry on top of an already spectacular weapon (plus its got one of the most unique designs in the game)
Also apex predator with enhanced surrounded is very slept on I havnt seen any videos on it yet but with high ad density in most raid/dungeon encounters having a free 47% damage buff feels way better than swapping to use the lower damage bait n switch
love the Vexcaliber pick. Been a fan since it came out, and it has only gotten better as builds have improved. I'm curious: if there had been a legendary winner in the final category, what would you have picked?
I feel like Cold Comfort was over-looked, Impact casing, Envious assassin, and Bait and switch is an amazing combo that I feel like is even better than Apex Predator
Ngl, over a year ago I crafted a Tripwire Canary. Lightweight, 500ms base draw time, going all the way down to 180ms with archer's tempo/successful warmup being topped off by the veist stinger trait. The downside, negative hit registration. Meanwhile, I took a break from the game, and came back a couple weeks ago. Idk what they did to bows, but my meme bow actually hits things now! And it's a menace. Depending on the veist stinger RNG the ttk fluctuates between 0.01sec below or 0.01 sec above a 140HC. It's FAST. Wrote this at the start of "Category #10" and TLDR do NOT sleep on the funny, cuz bungie does unexplainable things
Oh crap! I finished up the video and saw you had passed 100k subscribers. CONGRATS NOMAD! For the video though, I was there every step for every weapon. Nice list!
fusions never had a huge space in the dps meta, but loaded question was not to be slept on in it's time. recently, merciless has also surprised the hell out of me for EZ burst dps.
I remember playing with Quicksilver Storm during the pre-order season b4 Lightfall thinking "This is the Exotic weapon that all exotic weapons from now to ever will strive to be. A weapon that is 3 weapons in one, has the capability to be Strand or Kinetic, and dumps on every type of ad in the game."
Best PvE weapons for me would've been Riptide (with Chill Clip) and Wish-Ender because that thing has literally carried teams through GMs and other higher-tier content. An honorable mention to Quicksilver Storm because that thing is amazing as well.

This was one of the most creative Destiny videos I've seen. Nomad has proven himself to be of the best Destiny content creators out there
My most used weapon this year was Quicksilver Storm, and the gun I've been constantly telling everyone is best in the game is Conditional Finality.
Fun fact: the Deterministic Chaos does have a catalyst in the api with a perk set to it. It has 4th times the charm...for what ever thats worth....
Can't wait to see next year's awards show
You look like you should with that amazing voice of yours and the suit. Keep it up 👍
You my friend, do not look ridiculous in that jacket. You look absolutely stunning. Especially with that well groomed beard.
On the point about fusions being used for boss damage, I do believe that Merciless was king back in the double primary Calus days.
to be honest i think that osteo striga was and is also a competitor for weapon of the year just because of its ad clear potential in pve and its traking and pre- fireing capabilitis in pvp make it an all around great weapon even with its nerfs
Osteo Striga dropped last year. This video is for best weapons of 2023
I'm 4 minutes into the video and I love this. Can't wait for next year already😂
Hopefully we have some co-hosts and nomination lists lol
Throw deterministic on a gyrfalcon build. Weakening + volatile on an lmg is actually really fun.
Dragon's Breath was a revelation. Most fun weapon they've made in a long, long time. Add clear, Boss dps; it has it all.
Buried Bloodline made me love being a support Invis Hunter, and havent felt that way since Omnioculus. Paired w Aeons, im flying!
Honorable mention for PVE should be Quicksilver Storm. I kept that damn thing on for months during any stand surge nightfall. Stand hunter main here
The immortal is the new recluse
Graviton is a close contender to sunshot in best improved weapon. It got its rate of fire change which destroyed crucibe for a bit and got 3 big pve buffs making it compete very well with sunshot. Only thing I would say sunshot does better is synergy/utility due to it inflicting scorch.
Most improved exotic is malfeasance, now is the most devastating primary weapon in the game.
The sunshot is shining in this season for artifact perks, but malfeasance will rise again after this season
Malfeasance has also been n really good for me tbh, I’ve always found myself coming back to it
Honestly DPS shoutout to Whisper of the Worm, as it has the highest total damage out of probably Every Single Gun in the Game (don’t say primary weapons) and got probably over 30% total of damage buffs this year, try it out on a longer range boss like Oryx
The irony of you saying sponsor and UA-cam dropping an ad right at that moment lol
I feel like Cold Comfort was over-looked, Impact casing, Envious assassin, and Bait and switch is an amazing combo that I feel like is even better than Apex Predator
honestly the most professional looking d2 video I've seen in a very long while nomad never misses with the production.
Abbyss defiant alongside side the new vex pulse adhortative are insanely good! Heal clip + incandescent is a great combo.
Nice list!
Between Quicksilver Storm and Conditional Finality, imo it definitely does make more sense to say Quicksilver purely because it’s easier to obtain
fusions never had a huge space in the dps meta, but loaded question was not to be slept on in it's time. recently, merciless has also surprised the hell out of me for EZ burst dps.
Shout out to Graviton lance, the glow up that has had is insane, and with void synergy, it's my go to
I remember playing with Quicksilver Storm during the pre-order season b4 Lightfall thinking "This is the Exotic weapon that all exotic weapons from now to ever will strive to be.
I really enjoyed this video Nomad, honestly probably my favourite video of yours all year. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this, I'm really grateful. Merry Christmas!
