I do have to appreciate that you used "your" theme (as in your intro theme) to finish the video for the best weapon of 2023 for what probably will be the last video of this year. Because that weapon has to be a jack of old trades, the good ol' reliable, I feel like your theme which represent you and your channel is the perfect fit to finish the year. Merry Christmas Nomad. And Happy new year.
❤❤❤
ME: -sees video on woty
ME: I bet he's gonna choose Quicksilver like a braindead simp.
ME: -skips to 21:38
ME: ....I should probably become a medium or some shit.
Joke aside, I'm glad I skipped instead of wasting my time watching this diatribe that would make Dick Cuckis salivate at the total runtime. I don't even care that I sound like an asshole, truth is a cold hard mistress. Do better.
Underrated legendary weapon was the right call but if it was a 600 rpm it would be the best auto in the game in any content
Cartesian coordinate with lead from gold and vorpal with artifact perk particle deconstruction in S15 was the best fusion meta of all time
yeah paired with sleeper
it's still good for swap-dps
Best meta of all time*****
We had focusing lens too, where you could put a stasis debuff (hunter super) on a boss and get a damage boost for super damage + unnerfed bubble & well to proc focusing lens + one fusion rifle shot for particle with cartesian and then go ham with sleeper or even 1k. Fond memories.
Even without particle it’s still been one of my go to for special dps idk what he was talking about
Vexcalibur as "most underrated" justified all my trust in this channel
It won't be underrated for long once people realize how cracked it is with triton vice now.. Mix it with a void hunter build with the fragments feeding melee kills into grenade energy and you've got a build that can ad clear like a monster. Devour procs every 2 hits, and invis in the back pocket if you need out fast.
@@ValiantNomad I love vex for the same reason I love bloodline: getting void verbs on subclasses where they make zero sense. Woven mail from Cyrtyrachne + void overshield from vex = 80% DR fun times
For the best DPS I genuinely thought you were gonna say thunderlord for a second and the sheer relief and catharsis when you said dragons breath was astounding.
Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Sunshot. For hanging around for so long to finally get its moment to shine!
ive loved that gun for PvE since it came out year 1 and it’s gotten better over time
I’ve been good for a while but I’ve just kept on getting buff after buff
i would say thats half true because it did get reworked in lightfall which made it so much better and becoming meta. if it didnt get reworked it wouldnt have been looked at as a option.
it really got its moment in the sun
All I use
I was fully expecting Conditional Finality to sweep so many categories. But then Dragon's Breath showed up at the 11th hour and made its presence FELT. Great video!
If destiny is still kicking next year, this definitely deserves to be an annual video
And that's it for me for this year. Thank you all so, so much for watching in 2023. We'll be back at it early next year. Looking forward to seeing you then. ❤❤❤
Thank you for another year of amazing videos! Enjoy the rest of your 2023 and happy new year!
Another fantastic video enjoy the holidays & stay safe ascendent!
Happy holidays! I hope to see this format return again!
I disagree with Sunshot, I humbly suggest Polaris Lance. Happy holidays
Thank you for the year, Nomad. Can't wait to see what you cook up in 2024!
I don’t say this often: This was, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and creative videos I’ve seen from a Destiny 2 creator in a long, long time.
3:06 "It really kickstarted the whole idea of fusion rifles being used as apart of the DPS rotation". It did not we shall never forget sleeper and cartesian coordinate.
Quicksilver really ain't all that surprising. Not only is it the swiss army knife of guns, it can also be kinetik and strand. having 2 energy types is insane, as you can get the damage boost for all kinetik type builds and go with the strand synergies with the gun, while it still performs so well anywhere
I knew it was gonna be Quicksilver before even clicking on the video. Probably the least surprising pick on the list except for the Immortal.
I always wanna run it but it would require me to put down Rufus Fury and that ain't happening. Rufus is my favorite weapon in the entire game without question..
Kinetic
@@lukatosic09 what?
@@SlimeyZockt you spelt it wrong
I fully agree with your pick for Weapon of the Year. It really is a skeleton key for any activity, and it was my go to primary for any new and potentially difficult activity I went into blind this year. Conditional Finality is good and all, but it doesn’t have the honor of being a default loadout weapon like Quicksilver Storm does.
I NEED 16:31 to be turned into a Shaxx/Saint-14 voice line for when you’re on a tear. This sounded menacing (in the best way)
Merry christmas everyone! May you all get your raid exotics in your first runs.
Worst exotic award is so fitting.
You mentioned lightfall exotic that you never used, I was thinking "Oh that stasis glaive? Like its not great but i wouldn't call it the worst thing", Just completely forgetting Deterministic chaos was a weapon that existed at all.
i didn't even use it in the mission when they wanted you to let alone in any other content
It was Meta for RON for a bit, so that's probably why. You could melt nezzy
This was incredibly entertaining to watch. Just such an enjoyable destiny video that sits well above many of the "series" content videos that are rampant. In a time where there's not much variety in the destiny content being made, this was a great breath of fresh air that kept my interest the entire time. Well done. Truly. My award for destiny content creator of the year goes to you.
❤️
After gilding Conqueror 8x times, I think Wish-ender deserves to win some of those awards
This is one of the greatest destiny videos I have watched in years. Refreshing, just brilliant. Thank you.
Seeing you put Abyss Defiant as most underrated Legendary just made me cheer. Everyone I know said "It's Meh, not that great", and yet from the moment I got it I fell in love with it and have been getting through PvE and PvP with it and always felt like it was slept on
Dude, I have 3k kills on my non-crafted Recon Target Lock Abyss Defiant. Nice to see another fellow auto enjoyer.
Hard agree. I put 2.5k on my normal rng drop that has Heal Clip/Incandescent. I ended up spending nearly 900 spoils to get an Adept roll and I don't regret it.
Gotta say really enjoy your video's man, you've been able to still put out a lot of fun and enjoyable content at a time when most creators are just branching away from the game or dismantling it further. Not that both of these actions aren't understandable or acceptable. It's just refreshing to have some unique and enjoyable content in this low period of the game. Genuinely look forward to your vids and wish you the best this coming year
honestly, i couldn't agree more about quicksilver being weapon of the year, I used it in checkmate trials and managed to go flawless for the first time ever. It felt absolutely amazing
That’s such a banger track to announce quicksilver. Excellent video nomad. I watch you for the dialogue, the comedy, the consideration. Excellent work.
Vicetone always slaps
Lovely work on this! It’s always a pleasure to see new uploads from you
This was an enjoyable video to watch. Thanks for putting this together.
I definitely think this should be a yearly series! Maybe next time you could take inspiration from the game awards and have other Destiny creators on to hand out some of the awards
This was delightful to watch. Would love to see the awards next year too!
Dude this was such a great watch excellent as always
This is gonna be a Conditional Finality sweep I can feel it in my bones
Narrator:
@@AscendantNomadI'm never raiding period I don't have a working microphone
@kilickmarsh2793 no mic raids exist. I do them alot. Most the raids in d2 are dummy easy
@@kilickmarsh2793root is so easy. Definitely doable without a mic. And I’d say buying a mic just to get Conditional would be worth it lol. But yeah no mic needed. But for real you should start raiding. I just started raiding this year (been playing since D1) and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in the game.
@@forrestrichard8133 I love raiding I'm saying my mic always breaks within 1 month of buying it
I really enjoyed this video Nomad, honestly probably my favourite video of yours all year. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this, I'm really grateful. Merry Christmas!
I'm 4 minutes into the video and I love this. Can't wait for next year already😂
Hopefully we have some co-hosts and nomination lists lol
great award ceremony :) very good breakdown of the year, i agree with almost all your winners, but especially vexcalibur and quicksilver storm. both are truly on another level. keep it up :)
This was a great video! Can’t wait to see what next year brings. Always have appreciated your content, found the channel years ago from the crucible doctor videos, and I’m glad I’ve stuck around. Always look forward to your videos, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings for you and the channel!
Really enjoyed this video, it felt like an actual award show where I hoped for my favorite weapons to get the recognition. Looking forward to next years ❤
fr hoping for major growth my man you are GOLD🙌🏽
The only fusion rifle dps meta I remember Bernie now was Merciless on Calus in vanilla D2.
This might be one of my favorite vids you’ve done. Just feels so unique & creative. Looking forward to next year :) cheers
What a wonderful Christmas Present! Thanks AscendantNomad! I loved this video and it made me feel all the nostalgia from this past year of D2.
Merry Christmas and happy new year buddy!
Amazing opinions, glad to have found your channel!
Genuinely great video Nomad. Truly. The way the music kicked in when you were announcing Weapon of the Year literally gave me chills. 10/10.
Excellent Video, every pick was spot on. You should consider this as an annual series.
Oh crap! I finished up the video and saw you had passed 100k subscribers. CONGRATS NOMAD!
For the video though, I was there every step for every weapon. Nice list!
A weapon i think is pretty iverlooked is the Tyranny of Heaven. Its adclear potential is trough the roof, especially with the artifact perks this season, it really slays out
Bravo! This was brilliantly done. Enjoy whatever you celebrate and happy new year brother.
There's a reason I call it Cooksilver these days. It is so absurdly strong and the only reason it hasn't been used more for me currently is because the artifact doesn't lean into strand as heavily as it does solar this season
Awesome video man. Appreciate how fun this was. Looking forward to more next year!
I think Until it Returns is the most under-rated weapon this year. No one talks about or uses it, but with overflow/cascade point, it's absolutely incredible. It's overlooked for Swordbreaker and Heritage, which are amazing weapons(and so is this season's slug shotty with cascade point), but Until it's Return is litterly point and fire. Cascade Point is incredibly easy to proc on a special weapon, and when it's active, it's like a legendary 4th Horseman that can hold 16 rounds with overflow and doesn't kick to the sky. Craft one and try it out with Sunshot when you're not on a punch Titan build, and I promise it'll surprise you how well it bursts down nearly any enemy.
I haven't been watching a lot of D2 content lately, but I really enjoyed this video. Well thought out and articulated. I probably would have picked Conditional Finality for weapon of the year, and it will go down in Destiny history as an all-timer, but I can see the wisdom in choosing Quicksilver Storm as well. If you have it equipped, it's going to perform. Period.
Have a nice break, and a Happy New Year.
Unsure if this counts, since it's not a D2 weapon, but I think a SOLID runner-up to Apex Predator for "most improved" is Zaouli's Bane. Before Sunshot got buffed (again), Zaouli's was basically the same gun, but it didn't take up your exotic slot. The combo of explosive rounds and Incandescent, in addition to the Origin Trait that can give you up to 6 extra bullets in the mag, vaulted this HC from arguably the worst legendary weapon in D1 to one of the top primaries in the game. It also just got a reload animation fix, so it feels less clunky to use if you're trying to reload-cancel all the time.
Excellent content 👏👏👏
Cheers, Nomad!!
ok thank you for adding a nod to conditional for best overall. that gun has carried me in a lot of PvE and definitely gets that second spot for overall.
This was actually a very fun vid, hope to see it again
Another honourable mention for glow up: Polaris Lance. From sitting in a vault since warmind/forsaken, to absolute explosion monster with the seasonal artifact mods in season of the wish, it really has found it’s place and rivals sunshot in GM level activities.
I’m really glad obscure weapons get brought back into the meta. Hell, even skyburner’s oath became meta for the proving grounds strike, and now we have old classics returning once more like Whisper of the Worm and Thorn. Everyone dunks on weapons like Queenbreaker or Wavesplitter, but who knows? We’ve had weapons no one ever gave a second glance at before return back. Maybe we’ll have them in the list next year.
I LOVE this concept for a video. I'm so surprised this wasn't done sooner but someone else.
Love vids like this. Keep up the good work bro.
Great video. Definately agree with the case of most of your picks and alternate picks.
totally agree on quicksilver storm, its just an autorifle/grenade launcher combo. laserbeaming mobs from a distance and doing some very good damage on the launcher part.
it has been and always will be my go to strand weapon.
this video was a refreshing change to what i normally watch about destiny and the "meta build or meta gun" etc.
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! EXCELLENT EDITING AND SOUNDTRACK
i anticipated quicksilver thru the whole video, heart dropped because that weapon clutched me in so many situations
Great video concept! You are such a good creator.
good video! will be looking forward to this next year!
Great video idea, AN! 💯
Happy holidays 🎄☃️
Abbyss defiant alongside side the new vex pulse adhortative are insanely good! Heal clip + incandescent is a great combo.
love the Vexcaliber pick. Been a fan since it came out, and it has only gotten better as builds have improved.
I'm curious: if there had been a legendary winner in the final category, what would you have picked?
Merry Xmas, nomad!
Quicksilver Storm was my main auto rifle before the Craftening for the Heist battlegrounds Europa GM.
Those grenades are insane for gm adclear.
Killer Video! Great Insight, Great Presentation, Great Content. I firmly agreed on all counts.
Vexcalibur and Ex Diris have been my secret loves since their releases, and though I would never run them in any serious content, I always find myself coming back to them whenever I just want to have a good time.
For some obscure reason I've cried in tears in the end of the video during the best weapon section. And that nostalgia music from 2012 or so, my god
Im so happy that Sunshot, my favorite weapon since i started playing this damn game, is finally getting the spotlight it deserves
Very happy to be in the stream when the idea for this came about
Vexcalibur has always been good and now that they buffed glaive shields to auto generate its even better
Love the concept
I love this so much!!! Thank you for the awesome content ❤
This is a great video idea! I love it. Great work!
8:29 year one merciless shredded callus like paper
My personal underrated legendary is Targeted Redaction. Especially in checkmate. It's one of my favorite weapons in a long time
Underrated legendary for me is Heliocentric QSc, heal clip and incandescent puts in so much work.
Great idea, great video!
Also apex predator with enhanced surrounded is very slept on I havnt seen any videos on it yet but with high ad density in most raid/dungeon encounters having a free 47% damage buff feels way better than swapping to use the lower damage bait n switch
Calus Mini Tool has been my favourite legendary in a long time. Cheers
8:27 Merciless meta for the leviathan and nightfalls.
sun shot has been a beast for ages, not just the past 2 seasons. people just didnt use it cause streamers didnt tell them too!
Awesome video! Will you be doing the same for armor? Had a few new ones this year and a lot that had reworks, so it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on this. You could even do a vid per class
I remember using Merciless a LOT on the Leviathan.
Pretty meta back then.
Nice vid fella, cheers.
Vex calibur is slept on after the glaive rework. Add on strand warlock with necrotic grips and its insane
Pretty valid picks for each category 👌🏾
“When you’re just dicking around, whip this out…”
- Ascendant Nomad
Love it ❤
This video was fire, please do another next year
My most used weapon this year was Quicksilver Storm, and the gun I've been constantly telling everyone is best in the game is Conditional Finality.
I feel like I've been transported back to the Red War this season, I'm running a Solar build with Celestial Nighthawk and Sunshot.
But also highly agreed with Weapon of the Year. I pulled it out when I needed DPS from a primary will solo clutching a Coil where everyone else was dead and we had no revives in the final tier. I use it to crutch in PVP, the grenade mode doesn't splash you! And it just looks cool as hell. And I don't have Conditional Finality. Yep, Quicksilver is weapon of the year for sure.
Eremite cemented high impact fusions as a quick damage option in most of my builds. Controlled Burst is king
That was a fun one! Thanks Nomad!
8:06 For me personally I'd have to give it to Kinetic Tremors. As someone who runs a lot of GMs (the best way to test if your PVE build is good) the ability to turn an average kinetic weapon into an ad clear machine is so underrated. With the enemies having their health, damage, and agro cranked to the max, being able to do 16k+ damage to EVERY single target affected by the tremors per burst in a GRANDMASTER over and over is pretty OP. It honestly should be a perk that should be on an exotic. It synergizes with perks like Shoot-to-loot and Demolitionist and Kinetic siphon mods and the tremors can stun champions when rolled on the corresponding weapon.
21:28 I'd have to give it to Wish-Ender. When you said it can be used for almost everything, I thought you'd go with a Kinetic Exotic. Wish-Ender is the only primary/infinite ammo weapon that can 1-shot Barrier champs, give you literal wallhacks, can be used at any range, pierce a single enemy THREE times including it precision damage + can damage multiple enemies behind the one you're shooting at, doesn't take up a heavy slot or an energy slot, free extra damage JUST BECAUSE it's a kinetic primary, and does free extra damage to Taken enemies, Heavy/special ammo finder works especially well with this (literally every 16 kills will drop a heavy brick), needs no setup for it to shine, and can be run on any class/subclass. I wasn't going to say this because it wasn't released in 2023 but when you said Tractor Cannon, it seems like for some categories you were looking for the weapon that shined the most this year. Plus I'm more biased towards PVE (because Destiny IS a PVE game. It CAN/DOES have a PVP (and glory to you if you enjoy it) but, if they allow so many one shot weapons like LMGs and Rocket launchers, swords, and SUPERS/Abilities in the mix it literally cannot be possible for Destiny 2 to be a legit PVP game hence why there's no official Esports league. There's just no room for outplay. They literally have perks/guns with homing bullets. C'mon be fr guys lol).
But yeah other than that this video idea is very unique and I agreed with everything else. Can't wait to see next year's awards show
I cannot applaud you enough for this video! I absolutely loved every minute of it, it reminded me of weapons I completely forgot I used to use. I was so invested that I had goosebumps waiting for the best weapon of the year! Fantastic video! 👏👏
Great idea and video
Great list Nomad!
Good list. Nice vid 👍🏼
Nomad I LOVED this video, cant wait for the destiny weapon awards for 2024 but PLEASE add the category for the best looking weapon, no matter how good or bad is, it just looks cool, sounds great, and even the lore behind or something is worth it.
Most improved exotic is malfeasance, now is the most devastating primary weapon in the game.
The sunshot is shining in this season for artifact perks, but malfeasance will rise again after this season
