Welcome to our first "Whiskerday" video! In case you missed the news, we now we plan on publishing every Wednesday (Whiskerday) and Saturday (Caturday). 😺 So, which of these Norwegian Forest Cat facts did you find the most interesting? ⬇
My daughter has a Norwegian forest cat named Farley that she rescued from an animal shelter 9 months ago, and we absolutely love him so much! Such a sweet and loving boy
I had a Norwegian Forest cat. He had tuxedo coloring. He weighed 14 lbs by the time he was a year old! He didn't gain any more weight after that, though. He had such big paws, like snowshoes! I called him my snow kitty. ❤
I own/rescued both a Maine Coon and a Norwegian Forest cat. They are both males, and a few years apart. The Maine Coon is a gray mackerel tabby that I adopted from an animal shelter when he was a kitten. He is 11 now. The Norwegian Forest cat is a black and white tuxedo cat that I rescued from the woods when he was about 6 months old. Everyone who meets them immediately falls in love with them because they are so beautiful, friendly and sweet.
My late fiance had a Norwegian Forest cat. After she died another one, from the feral colony in the park, found me and eventually became a house cat. I will always remember the day when I was taking a nap on the couch and she jumped up and cuddled against me; showing that my companionship was more important to her than just food.
oh wow! all that thick fur sounds amazing to bury your head in when you're sad. I do that with my Burmese and although her coat isn't long, it's so soft and plush I just love it. Not to mention she's bloody adorable. I've gone from completely uninterested in animals to crazy cat lady in less than a year.
The Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats are genetically and physically similar, but they were almost extinct? Talk about fate intertwining. Also, I love the nickname "Wegies"! That reminds me of those green-clothed and purple-clothed guys!
I have a male black cat that adopted me recently. He is such a sweet boy. In doing some research I do believe he is a NFC. He looks exactly like the black one in your video. I have no idea his age, but the vet estimated him at 2-3 years. He was thin at 9 pounds when he came but is about 12 pounds now. He has been neutered and is very happy to be an inside boy. I wish I knew his history. He had been on his own for quite some time as he was a mess.

I had no idea they had certain health concerns. I was under the impression they were pretty much a super breed, very little illness.
Purebreds of any kind have a higher risk of health conditions. So this isn't unique to Wegies. However, overall they are pretty healthy!

Lost my special wegie last summer to sudden heart failure. She was such a good baby. Love you forever, Tabby.❤
