Hey Rory. i'm 64 and saw a lot of the early punk oz hhad on offer..The saints along with Radio Birdman are absolutely up there. This was my favourite Saints number. Hearing this live with a full Brass section was as good as it fucken gets. Bravo bro.
Living close to Brisbane myself I love telling people this! Haha rumour has it when the Pistols formed Malcolm McLaren played them “(I’m) Stranded” and told them to sound like this
After "I'm Stranded" the music was so narrow so they expanded the sound with the introduction of the sax. How much influence did this have on Australian music? MASSIVE!!!
TRIPPY VIDEO, OOHH THE SAX YEAAAAA, A SAX AND HORNS IN PUNK ROCK WOW!! AWESOME REACTION RORY 😊 AND THANK YOU CAM FOR THIS AWESOME REQUEST PRETTY COOL!! 😊🩷🤘✌️
The story goes, The Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren got an advanced copy of I’m Stranded by The Saints and told Johnny Rotten he needs to sound like this..... Both bands on EMI so I'd guessing managerial privilege helped
We Aussies did , thats for sure . We didn't get the memo that there'd be a uniform , Aussie punk never got into wearing a certain type of clothing or a special hairstyle.
Punk royalty to those of us who were there back in the seventies and eighties
RIP Chris Bailey
Got to check out 'I'm Stranded' - the leader and still gold standard of all punk songs.

“Aloha Steve and Danno - Radio Birdman”
This band went to number one in the UK with the song 'Im Stranded' a year before the Sex Pistols so who invented Punk , Brisbane did it first

I have an LP of 1974 Saints demos: 74 and they already were at it (the songs a little slower).
