Thank all your employers who thought it was safe to work all day today. I feel employers should be held responsible for vehicles if they force employees out to work in this weather. Were being told to get off roads and they closing them. School districts need to be more understanding when weather is this bad. Dont wait until last minute to make a decision. Be glad that in Texas the person responsible has to claim it on their insurance. In Michigan, it's no-fault, so even if someone hits you then you have to claim it on your own insurance. In Texas, I paid $85/month for insurance with $50 deductible, in Michigan the same with a much higher deductible would be about $300/month.

Ever wonder why your premium increases yet you had no claims? The video demonstrates why.

I was on the 249 toll going into Magnolia late last night, and there was ice on the bridges. I repeatedly witnessed people hitting their brakes once they were on ice, causing them to skid. Some out of control.
I made every effort to separate myself from them by driving ahead or behind them.
When driving over icey areas of the road, don't panic and don't suddenly brake.
I was doing about 60 mph, and over each of the bridges, I would take my foot off the accelerator and coast across. When I felt my vehicle sliding, I would gently steer in the direction of the skid.
People were going 20 mph, and were still hydroplaning because of sudden and aggressive braking.
One more thing, PLEASE, PLEASE, STOP driving side by side. It's dangerous, and it interferes with the flow of traffic. STOP IT! Isolate yourself on the roads when there is clear space to do so.
My ex was a lieutenant with the TXDPS, and this was something he screamed about often, and it's worse today because of illegal, unlicensed, and unskilled drivers.
    Drive defensively, and be safe.

Houston dropped the ball again by not sanding our roads knowing the freez was coming Ice is the worst thing to drive on no matter what speed you are going because you have little are no control. So thanks to the city of Houston and other counties for leaving our roads unsafe.
