Having a roof over your head in the UK is considered a premium, luxurious privilege. To me, this encapsulates the Conservative attitude towards the general public: the strong and wealthy thrive, while the rest must compete for a caravan.

The fact that even those Tory MP's who have come from the working classes have this weird love affair with David Cameron as though he was a great leader tells me everything I need to know about why the tory party failed. Just because for some bizarre reason they loved him, did not mean the country did. I couldn't stand him and I think I speak for many millions of Brits. It beggars belief the tory party just cannot even see their gaping faults much less deal with nuanced problems.

You have been elected to serve this country and its citizens.
You have not been elected to look after your personal interest and serve your allies regardless of them being international criminals or disrespectful to the international human rights.
You have been elected to look after the welfare of the citizens and their wellbeing.
Be honest, sincere, loyal and faithful to this country.
Stop arming and supporting the tyrants, corrupt and the bloodthirsty.
Concentrate on simple things like our NHS, education, constructive foreign policy, etc.

Or you think that including people who are in favour of gender theory and people who oppose it is not a broad church? Part of the Tory problem is that they spent so much of the last 14 years fighting each other than being a united party.

The original vote to join the EEC was quite a good thing for Britain problem was we were never asked about further integration both politically economically and legally, given where we are now we are better placed under Labour to reach accommodations over our relationship with Europe and a possible further referendum at some point the secret will be whst question we ask the voters in or out will not suffice.

    • @tylerdodmusic423
      @tylerdodmusic423 7 днів тому

@@whiteheatherclub So the Soviet Union was communist not socialist. Clement Atlee stood by the principle of collective effort and there is a good reason why academics have cited him as the best and most effective prime minister that Britain has ever had. There are multiple ways socialism can be applied to a country and it can often be very effective. It isn’t about completely giving up freedom but about not being greedy which total freedom of the individual often causes. A large part of the mess we are in goes back to Thatchers policies which tempted people at the time to buy out all the social housing because of the so called “ freedom of the individual” and now that housing is no longer available.

What happens next must depend on what the post election MPs consist of. The Tories have been virtually annihilated because they are no longer a Conservative Party. However if the post election MPs are as left wing as the pre election Tories then electing a new leader is a waste of time. The party has to split with the left wingers being left behind and the true right of centre MPs ( if there are any) going their own way. If they were then to move to Reform there might be a way ahead.

What they should do and what they will do will be two separate things. They will have a right punch up (pun intended) and put the most right wing and abrasive candidates forward to their extreme party members. The winner of the contest will be on a very short leash given the low bar on the number of letters required to trigger a recall election and hopefully they'll repeat the Hague, IDS, Howard process and take a long time over it. Their track record on selecting the final two candidates has been awful: May/ Leadsom (DNF), Johnson/Hunt, Truss/Sunak, Sunak /Johnson(bottled it, allegedly).

Here’s a novel idea, how about we socialise the profit & privatise the costs. Give the middle class & working poor a break from austerity & let the filthy rich pay it for a change.

The Tory party lost the election because of deception of partygate, the incompetence of Liz Truss' government, and this year trying to out reform the reform party, taking them over to the hard right. Overall, the English people are conservative with a small c. So if the Tories ever want to govern again, they need to get back to advocating centre-right policies.

Not sure this gentleman is the right person to ask, the Conservstives haveva lot of reflection to do and a great deal of reconstruction of trust to do with voters as they proved so untrstworthy and self interested over such a long time it could take a long timd before average voters are prepared to listen to them.
I suggedt they get on with being an effective oppodition and avoid cosying up to Reform as a large proportion of the defection of voters to them are motivated by ideoligies that centre leaning conservative voters find abhorrent.

Anyone else amused how everyone is saying the same thing? Doesn't matter where in the party they sit, it's clearly a time for the Tort party to rethink its focus because quite obviously the party has been rejected. Also the answer to where the party needs to refocus is wherever the commentator or MP already thought the party should refocus because unlike the rest of the party they don't need to pause and reflect. If anything the Tory loss just demonstrated they've been right all along. But everyone else needs to have a bit of a rethink.
I have yet to see anyone stand up and be surprised that after getting a large enough majority after years of Tory policy being implemented that it turns out Tory policies being put into practice just aren't that popular. The members of the party aren't that popular. Tory party culture, borderline toxic. You can't just keep scaring people talking about culture war nonsense or immigration, you have to actually be able to run a country.
