    Oh man! This video came one day too late for me. I fished the day prior in identical conditions on a west trib and was unsure what type of approach to take given the conditions. I eventually came to most of the same conclusions, but it wasn't until much later into the afternoon, and short of a fly box. Great video again, AOA coming through as always.

    Great vid as usual,
    Dead egg bite is the first video I’ve seen from you, I’m still impressed with the information that you shared in the video!

    Really needed this after a frustrating day at a nearby creek; Steel present and visible but unwilling to bite.

    My fave for low water is a black griffith's gnat in size 12 or 14 with one or two live waxworms.

    you need to be using a all white inch long hook rapped with rabit skin/furr , minnow immatation is what it is. best fly of all time. nothing works better than a white shinner immatation

    Great video. Ever use garden worms? Work well for me and others on my river.

    Great Vid! How do you put on the maggot on the hook? Wacky? Also what colour is dead egg? I can't find it in the store

    • @averageontarioanglers
      @averageontarioanglers  3 роки тому

      I just thread the maggot onto the hook so just the bend and point sticks out. Dead egg bite colours vary but regular white or smoke colours are a great place to start

    Do you think catching them on a fly rod is the superior way in these low water conditions?
    My question is which one will spook the fish the most, the tiny bobber or the long fly line?
    Thanks.

    • @averageontarioanglers
      @averageontarioanglers  2 роки тому +1

      I’ve done both, I haven’t found one particularly better then others. Often times I choose the float rod because it’s easier to cast around overhanging trees and branches

    what are you using as a hook keep on your GLX? Nice video.

    • @averageontarioanglers

      It’s a Fuji Hook keeper. They work pretty good, but make sure to superglue the elastics down since they sometimes pop off 👌

      @@averageontarioanglers good stuff man. How do you like your GLX? I just bought the 13' 6-10Lb GLX. I think it's the same one you have. The 8-12lb GLX is to heavy for the streams that I fish for steelhead. Iknow it is a good salmon rod but I had to buy the 6-10lb instead. Have you tried yours on chinooks? I know you use a Raven, just want to know if the 6-10lb GLX can do the job for both, steel and salmon. Years ago I used a 13' 4-8lb Lamiglass. It caught lots of chinooks on the piers and in the rivers but it felt too light for the salmon. I was thinking of maybe overloading the GLX with 12 or 14lb main line when salmon season comes and take it easy on them.

      @@machinegun3133 this GLX is the 11’3 light and I love it for the smaller tribs. I wouldn’t use it for salmon myself, I find it maxes out on 12-14lb fish which is why I grabbed the heavier Raven for salmon duty.
