Vray is one of the top best renderers on the 3d market. Fast, reliable and super accurate. There is no need to fake caustics, fake glasses, and other common trickery used with cycles in order to get acceptable results. VRay makes an incredible job with these kind of materials. Also, it is the best choice for interior scenes, portal lights work pretty good. Good news for pros.

I'm very happy with this render engine available for blender. I use 3d studio max with corona and vray. So I'll be interested how blender performs. 😁. At the moment its the beta version which is free, but I don't think it will be for free once the updated version comes out. It's a yearly subscription with choas.
True and V-ray prices are not suited much in todays environment so we will wait to see if they drop it for add-ons paying level or stay with the same prices which is insane.
My question is, once vray is out of the beta phase, and it's no longer free. are they going to just prevent you from logging into the addon and block you out ? That of course includes all the nifty chaos assets. That's the real problem here, how much time are we willing to invest into this tool, just to have it eventually get locked behind a paywall ?
It will be paid for sure, that doesn't mean you can't take a look while it's free, many companies work with V-ray as pipeline and this one is tagged as an add-on for blender so we will see how the offer goes.
I originally subscribed to your channel because you showed me how Blender and Cycles work. I have no interest in V-Ray, as it comes from a profit-oriented company. I may need to reconsider my subscription.

But Cycles is free! So for an independent artist who might just be a hobbyist Cycles is plenty good.
