Today I'm getting older, when I was very young I wished to learn playing the guitar but my late father disapproved 'cause he said it was a waste of time,
when my children were young I brought them two good guitars and pushed them to learn playing but they would have none of it. I still believe that playing an instrument
is the most satisfying and beautiful pastime in the world and it's the only thing I regret in my life. Thanks for the upload, you've made my day.

Never say never. There's 365 days in a year. What if you just learned two things a week and practiced 10 minutes per day? What if your adult children came over for supper in 2022 and you laid down a solo for them without them knowing you've had this little hobby goin' on. Great for your mental health and a guaranteed family bonding moment like none other.

I’m 47 and have been playing guitar for 2 and a half years. I wished I’d started when I was 4. Learning and playing guitar has been the best thing in my life. Apart from having my children. I’m transformed into my special place every time I pick up my guitar. It does take time to improve though. But I’m loving the process. When I meet another guitarist, it’s magical to share our special bond with this beautiful instrument. ❤️

On a trip visiting my home state of NoDak. My friend Chris had found a guitar in the trash and I was playing it in his garage. Chris gave me the guitar and I took it home. Another friend heard me playing it and said, "here, play my guitar while I fix yours at home. He returned it in amazing condition. I played and played until the day I left for home. About 6 months later I returned to NoDak and my Luther friend gives me a 1967 12 String Framus (Flower Power Edition) Whoah incredibly amazing.. Now own 6 guitars and love to play, love to jam, it's never too late. This has all happened within within the last 1½ years. Always wanted to learn and never really tried until 48 yrs and now I'm 49 and by complete miracle I just brought home a 1959 Hofner 455 and sat down and watched this video. Never take time to comment on UA-cam videos however this video was special and so are those commenting on it. I am blessed. I've fallen asleep with my guitar. It usually is the last thing I do at night and first thing I do in the morning. Never have guessed in a million years the impact nor define all the ways my life is better. All because my friend gave me a beat up guitar. Life is forever changed. Guitar provides a new outlet that truly is endless. Best feeling in the world having a good jam session. I hope a guitar comes your way soon. I still got that first guitar if you want it.

notice how they are staying out of each other's way? creating musical paths and weaving in and out of the piece, controlling volumes, not trying to overplay one another... just complimenting the piece as they go. pure musical professionalism!
it's funny... certain parts made me think about Django and Les Paul... and during the chat at the end they start talking about the bits that were inspired by those two!

I seen Tommy live in concert they had doctors of music on stage with him at LSU They looked like beginners playing next to Tommy they had the big introduction with all their accomplishments in the music world Tommy can’t write music can’t read music he has a God given talent that he put in the hours to become what he is today the name Emmanuel in the Bible means (God with us) he is exactly that in the guitar world his hand is even deformed from being put in Odd positions on the fret board so he can do things on the guitar that most guitarist can’t do therefore they can’t get the full band sound Tommy gets playing the guitar also he is thinking and controlling rhythm guitar lead guitar bass guitar while keeping a drum beat at the same time on many of his songs sometimes he does vocals as well so think about how many places his mind is at once doing so many different tasks that’s what makes him so great and unique in music

I'm tired of the 6 year old child prodigy meme. You know that kid that can play "Eruption" at 220 BPM. I would rather see some older artists who have strived for their art and taken years to hone their craft. Guys who can improvise and play together as a group to make great music. This is it. Thanks for the video.

Danny Beeler not really. He played rhythm bass line with thumb and tasteful embellished melody with fingers, but that’s not uncommon. Chet is called Mr Guitar and highly regarded, liked to include certain pickers as “Certified Guitar Players” like himself as elite. In reality, Roy Clark, Les Paul, Danny Gatton weren’t included by Chet, but were every bit as good and also could play anything they attempted.

      Peter, thanks. 2 quick stories.
I was sitting in front of Will McFarland sp? He played with a bunch of folks from the 60-90's J. Browne, B. Raitt. Studio work. A slow hand player but very talented. A song was playing over the P. A. Out of nowhere he starts playing with it note for note. Complicated piece. I started shaking my head, he stopped playing, leaned down and said "what's wrong?".
I said, I quit! He replied, "relax, I played with the guy on the P A recording, it took me 2 weeks to learn just part of the song. Don't give up."
I was in Pittsburgh once, listening to a Jazz group. I ran into the drummer in the bathroom. I said "you guys are absolutely blistering, I am so impressed. How long have you played together?"
He replied, "I have never met these guys before...."
I still play, by myself in the basement where I won't damage anyone's eardrums.
