I had a 16*80 that I had moved from town to the farm about 15 miles I was a nervous wreck. I wired the cabinets together so they would fly open and all my dishes. I took out all the heavy furniture, laid the TV in the floor, removed things off the wall. Once it made it to the farm it had to be padded across the corn field and pulled by a tractor and pushed by the hauler. Once inside I discovered a horseshoe hanging on the wall. I do have 1 suggestion make sure all your windows raise and close. They sometimes get in a bind. Your trailer looks like it is home.

I was a Dealer for Nationwide modular homes in the 1970s and early 1980s I sold and installed several 2 and 3 section homes. People would say it’s a double wide I would have to tell them the difference these homes are built and shipped 100s of miles and stay in this almost perfect shape proves the build quality. There was always minor cosmetic damage to touch up but nothing much.

Boy I just look at a video of a double wide move yesterday on another channel and that poor thing had cracks coming from each corner of each window and doors in every room so I expected to see that today and amazing none!! So maybe the difference in a build from years ago as to today!!!

Welcome to East, TN. What part are you in? I live in Newport, which is about an hour east of Knoxville and 30 minutes from Dollywood. Thank you for sharing your moving adventure. My mom and I watched it together and she had to close her eyes as they were bringing your home off the hill. LOL I am so thankful you had very minor damage with such a drastic move. I am so excited to see your upcoming videos and watch you build your Homestead. I do not live on a Homestead, per se, but I do have chickens, geese, turkeys and goats. I also live in a converted barn! LOL

Love, love you guys! Can’t wait to see what you do. I love mobile homes. As I get older and am a widow, I am thinking more and more about moving into a “trailer” since it’s just me and my fur babies. I don’t need this nine room two story to take care of for many more years or the seven acres. I’m sure God has a plan for me as well.

@Linda Schoolcraft Hi Linda! Mobile home...trailer people always got a bad name. Back in the mid '80's I chose to live in a trailer for many reasons. Less space to heat means less electricity means less money and less space to have to CLEAN!!😃 With the money I saved on taxes, which is a great saving from a house and kept my expenses down from smaller footprint, I afforded to travel, take lengthy vacations and spend time with extended family I normally wouldn't be blessed with. Trailer living is where it's at! Hubby and I just bought a used and demolished on the inside, mobile home and are remodeling it for our forever home. Future proofing for our golden(or should I say silver😆) years and this will be my last.🤞 I think your thoughts of going smaller would be an asset to you and your lifestyle,(no matter what other people think) trailers are a cozy, less expensive but just as nice as a house, alternative way of living. There is another UA-camr's that is fixing up a used mobile home. Her name is Merina. Her and her husband do great diy's on their home. Fearfully Creative is their channel. Remodel on a budget is their motto. They have to! They have 4 kids!!😂 Just be sure to get someone who knows about mobile home, if that's what you decide, and get a well built one! There is some out there that ain't worth burning for the heat!! Good luck and blessings on whatever you decide! Have a blessed week!

@@doedoe49Hi Paula! This is true. But Linda has 7 acres. Could easily sale 6 acres and still own her own land and home, and be totally out of debt. Again, reducing her expenses and have the security of owning her own home on her own property and with only one acre to have to upkeep. That is is our situation. We own our land and our home, out right so taxes and upkeep are minimal. With a 2 bedroom, 2 bath mobile home, we have 4 grandkids and a great nephew that all have their own sleeping space(triple bunk beds we built together and a queen size mattress the oldest sleeps on, with their own t.v., 🎮 gaming and vcr/DVD player. They love their room! The great nephew sleeps on the big sectional with me. He's still young and his mom has spoiled him to sleep with her so I sleep on one section and he on the other and fall asleep watching the Grinch😃(his favorite movie) and still afforded a week vacation at a condo at the beach with all of them plus 2 older granddaughters!🤗 It is a sweet and blessed life💖🙏💖 Very thankful!

Just a suggestion instead of a sliding glass door what about French doors. It gives you a wider opening if you need to bring items in and out. We had sliding doors and i was always having a hard a time carrying things in from they outside. :)

    • @sandrawestley4193
      @sandrawestley4193 2 роки тому

Sandra WestleyUK, French doors are nice but if you live in a windy area they can be taken out of your hand and smashed, as you can guess I speak from experience, we had doors fitted on our present house, 2 sliding doors that part, they give you the same open space as French doors but are safe with wind, there like 2 pocket doors that slide apart.

So glad everything on the honey do list is only easy, superficial fixes! Yay!! You're in tornado alley now. Spring is sometimes wild here, and unavoidable. So please consider that, before remodeling too much now. Summer is usually a calm weather time here. Might want to delay any construction til then. And build a sturdy tornado shelter on your property. It saves lives. Take care. 💖

I know this is 2 years old. I hope your repairs and new projects went well. Being late to the party I get to binge watch your progress.
You two were so calm. I was totally freaking out when we had our double wide delivered to our little sliver of property. It is new or was 15 years ago. A neighbor friend took pity on me and brought his truck over and just sat with me speaking calmly to me. Even though this was a brand new home there were drywall cracks that had to be repaired. WE did have our septic tank set but we did all the ground work with leach lines and hook up ourselves. In 20 years flipping houses we changed out 3 septic tanks and put in two new ones. One was a little log cabin we built. Yes on the river in the mountains of Idaho.
Working on an art project I am going to run through some more of your videos. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes, this is the time to do a number of those renovations, fixes, etc... And yes, drywall and sanding creates fine dust. And yes, the Rv trailer is multiple steps away from the house ........ Maybe once you get the CO you can begin to stradle living between the two residences? It certainly makes absolute sense to do a top down, complete cleaning withiut the furniture et al! Even if you keep a clean house, there are nooks, crannies, and corners that just don't get reached as well as others; and your house is pretty darned clean. It will be interesting to see which projects you tackle in what order as you reassemble, repair, and mini remodel along.

Hey there Sam and Angela. I wanted to comment and say I am in a similar boat with your mindset where I bought a DW and it needs a ton of renos and only bought the house not the land where it is out in the country. I wanted to tell you that especially watching your home being moved and your exciting tour of the house afterwards is truly an inspiration and that is something I will be experiencing here in Eastern Central Texas myself when I save the money to move my home (OMG its expensive as my house is a 2004 Clayton 32X72). I know my home is going to be a huge undertaking as I also am a big DIYer and firstly replacing the entire roof myself since I am on a strict budget but please know there are people like me who really enjoy seeing yalls life experiences especially you having a manufactured home (I hate them called a trailer, its a home) and Sam I wish I had your brain on how to do so much that I am learning as I go and being "UA-cam Certified" in a lot of ways and Angela, you have a keen eye for detail and that we share. Blessings on your continued journey and I am always excited to see what's next. Cheers from Texas.

Lol! I gotta start backwards!!😃 Love the facial expressions and "goofy" faces trying to get the camera lighting right!!😆😂 Ain't sure if y'all realize the smiles and laughter y'all spread...just being y'all!!🤗 So now onto the serious part! Seriously...y'all are great carpenters because if y'all hadn't done things the right way to begin with, then y'alls job now would be HUGE!! KUDOS for doing it right to start with!!👏 Now for the heart felt stuff. I couldn't be happier for a wonderful, kind hearted, giving, happy, sharing, hard working, loving, deserving family if y'all was my favorite cousins!!💖 Big hugs and congratulations on a successful move to your forever homestead!!
......P.S. Glad to see the recliner is safe and sound!😂🤣 Have a blessed week!!

I know it was a lot of work but you’re home! Minimal damage, if any at all really: and you have tremendous views!
It would be heaven to sit on a big front porch and admire that view and all you’ve accomplished!
We can’t wait to see what’s next.
    God bless y’all!

I found that my house was not level where it was originally so it took a while for all the steel beams to twist back to level after it was moved. I was blessed with a concrete pad on my new property. After I got settled and things fixed my Mother blessed me with a double wide and the beams had to settle in once it was set in place too. the sounds were a bit disconcerting. I am so happy for all of you. I pray GOD continues to bless you and give you the strength and finances to get all you want to do done.

One of my family members put an addition on at the back door and put a small basement underneath the addition for storms & food storage. Something to think about. Thanks for sharing your life with us all.

Something we are contemplating is faux board and batten siding. It uses exterior grade plywood and batten strips.

Hello Sam and Angela! I really enjoy your channel and it’s content! Check out a tape called Fibafuse for those cracks. I’m a drywall finisher and painter and I can’t express how well Fibafuse works! You can set it with bag mud or premixed compound! After applying and it’s dry I lightly sand the first coat. It sounds awkward to sand this coat but it flattens the Fibafuse really well. Next pull a generous amount of mud over the seam and pull the edges tight! When dry sand flat and in most cases it ready for primer and paint!

I'm a relatively new viewer, and I just have to say-- I really LOVE your senses of humor! Honestly, that's what will get you through all the planning and changes of plans that will be required for this massive project. I know the "big" things are done, but sometimes it's that L-O-N-G list of "little" things that can rear its ugly head. I also love how thoughtful you guys are being in your approach, planning the order and scope of projects before you even lift a hammer. Wishing you always the best.

We put sliding doors in our kitchen about 7or 8 years ago and they were a great addition to our mobile home. We added a very large deck. It has actually become the main entrance that we use all the time.
