We bought a 14x70 2 BR, 2 BA, made by Sunshine, and paid $13,000 for it brand new in 1987. It lasted 3 moves, 2 kids and 12 years until I was alone in it and an F3 tornado just obliterated it. I got hurt pretty bad but I lived to tell the tale! 😊
Hubs and I bought a new 1998 Skyline, we put it on 5 acres with a shop. We had a bunch of upgrades done to it, oak cabinets instead of the pressboard stuff, we set it on a full concrete slab foundation and skirted it with split face blocks. We lived there until 2022. It's still in great shape and we're now making a good retirement income from long term renters that are now in it.
I lived in a single wide in college, and took care of a lady who was a polio survivor at night while her regular care giver had a weekend off every other week. Mobile homes can be real nice, if they are on good foundations, have good insulation, and have proper city services for sewage, water, etc. Nice tour.
WE LIVES IN A SMALL 2 BEDROOM SINGLE WIDE & IT'S ON A FOUNDATION & IT'S ON 1/2 ACRE LOT WITH UTILITIES AND WE HAVES OUR OWN WELL & SEPTIC SYSTEM TOO AND IT'S WELL BUILT
What people used to do in my area was buy a mobile home and slowly put “stick-built” house fixtures in them. Swap out the press board cabinets for real wood, put regular solid doors in them, have good insulated windows put in, remove the factory siding and put quality siding on them, add a good roof (especially on a double wide), rebuild sections of the floor to make them more solid (not really a concern on newer homes), and even remove the walls and put Sheetrock in their place.
Love any size mobile home..I was raised in them on Indiana..and still now own a 1993 Clayton Elkton Doublewide on 1 acre of land in a subdivision on the Virginia Tennessee line ❤️
I think these 1990's trailers are "gems." All the features are great. I love wallpaper; and pretty flooring, and especially that large bathtub. This is worth it all ! The French doors; windows. Men who made this, were really going for the best stuff.
I’m sitting here in a mid 90’s trailer. Double wide, split layout with a vaulted ceiling over the living room, dining area and kitchen. We are staying here because we’re building a house. For a trailer it’s not bad. One feature it has that I genuinely like is the sun roof in the master bathroom. It’s over the tub, which we don’t use but I winter my potted plants there. Also very seldom need a light in the bathroom in the daytime. Very handy.
Those older mobile homes have such a warm, cozy asthetic. I'd love to get my hands on one and get the money for it and restore it back to original factory condition, keeping the original designs and layouts, and even retrofitting modern features such as smart appliances, etc into the old design. they have character. That's what alot of things lack these days. character.

Our windows are single layered, built like a regular site built, double-paned viynl sliding windows. we have asbestos-free popcorn ceilings, which look quite nice tbh, seamles design meanings they don't have them strange little accents panelizing the ceiling. Tan "terricotta" textured drywall panels all throughout with the minimal design battens. gray-brown low shag carpetting in the bedrooms, hallway, and living room, tan hard wood-style lenolium flooring in the closets, bathroom, and even kitchen. yes it has the high-flood doors. they run on a elegant design, hollow design doors. flush-mount dome lamps in every room except the hallways and back master bath where there are pendulum style jellyfish lights. conclusion, my home is very nice, even through the fact I fitted it with a brick foundation, dismounted the front hitch, and gave it a really nice front and back porch deck. It is only a rental but I have been the first and only ever tenant this house has ever seen.. so I know its history, and I know it inside and out.
I love seeing the unique and interesting layouts of some older mobile homes. The step-up kitchens were to give the illusion of a sunken living room, very classy for their time. Thanks for sharing!!!❤
I bought a brand new double wide in 1998 went up mid state(fla) looked at all the models and had every upgrade i could put in it. And this single you were in my wall paper was the flower one!! And the carpet was green like the wall paper not the stripes!! And my kitchen had the green countertop. Its funny i think with all my upgrades it was an extra $20,000 but i loved it!! We had the starburst windows in the living room on the ceiling, a HUGE kitchen and 3 bedrooms,2 bathrooms.had it in Davie, Fla
I’ve lived in tons of these things growing up and the bathroom at the end of the hallway was always the best way to have them. It allowed for a larger kitchen / dining / living room. It always seemed like if the bathroom was in the middle (conventional) you didn’t get a dining room or it was a two bedroom. Thinking about it, that makes sense because that removes about 6-8 linear feet of used floor space along the long side of the home. And moves it to the short side just making the back bedroom go from being about 12x16 to about 12x10.
This is a nice single wild in the 90's, if you guys want to buy this one, I hope you get a good deal on it. Was trying to sleep on a Saturday morning and it started raining pretty hard and let me tell you it was so darn loud that I couldn’t sleep for nothing even with ear plugs in. Wouldn’t want another one for anything.

I lived in a double wide trailer from 2000-2006. It was actually pretty nice. It had 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, huge living room with a gas fireplace, a dining room and kitchen, and a nice sized laundry room. The master bathroom was gigantic and had a huge walk in closet and jacuzzi tub, along with his & hers sinks and a stand-alone shower. I paid WAY too much for it but I didn’t need to do anything to it to move in. I eventually painted a couple of rooms and put new carpet in one room. Honestly the worst part was the park I lived in. The managers were so ridiculous and hated me because they didn’t like kids and I had 2. Eventually I moved out and haven’t looked back since.
Cool design touches, a lot more classy looking than most of the ones I've seen from todays models. I'm enjoying the videos y'all are putting out. I've been watching the mobile home setup and repair videos and now these have found my interest 👍

In California, you couldn’t resell any of those after a certain age. We put a new manufactured home on our lot 10 years ago Crown molding all the upgrades It’s all drywall, beautiful cherrywood cabinets extra cabinets in the bathroom in the kitchen the dining room it’s beautiful. It was 95,000 bucks and we live in Southern California.
You can sell them here all the way back to the 60s if you get one that old, it Has to stay in the county so you can move it around as long as you stay in the county limits
I still remember going thru 'something' back in the late 60s in CA. The master bedroom had the flavor of the day in bedroom furniture - Spanish galleon. Bed took up practically the whole room. I was surprised it didn't tip that end down. Green and gold velvet, tassels in the LR - don't know what they were thinking. Made me think of a Juarez 'evening' house. Lots of improvements in 30 years.
I love this! I would buy it .... if the price is right. I like the kitchen, wood railing coming into the living room, mirrors, cabinet‘s, basically everything about it. 😊
I actually like this layout-especially the bathroom- the kitchen is great just remove the center upper cabinets-the bedrooms could be a little bigger but this home would really be a beauty with the right renovation-thanks for showing us this one
Maybe I'm just nostalgic for older styles of mobile homes, but this looks really nice. If it was fixed up a bit I would be happy to live in that today. Looks like it'd be really good for a couple who had kids with a really nice bed/bath for mom and dad and two kid-sized rooms.
That’s the best looking one I’ve seen for a used home you need to pick that one up. Replace the roof change the lower cabinets and the appliances. Get rid of all that carpet. That furnace is a mess why wouldn’t they vacuum it when they vacuum the floors or change the filter. Get that one if the price is right

Holy crap my uncle had a manufactured vacation home that had that exact same floral pattern on the walls and the same countertops... His was built in 1997.
We walked through a double wide at the manufacturer home show back around the time this was new. It was wild and I told my husband it was a waste of space at the time
I like this one, fixed up it has great possibilities, I don't like the step up kitchen to living roon! Depends on price! $$$$$ to fix up, luv your channel entertainment!! And learn!
A new one similar to this would cost you around $200 grand. I have been pricing them, so I know. This one can be fixed up for much less. Nothing wrong with the siding btw.
Tacky decorating. Ugh, that Hunter Green. A good reminder to never decorate your home with what is "in," unless it is something that can easily be removed.
So what will become of new homes which are grey washed? Things go in cycles, as you can see this trailer had an Ice Grey Crane toilet is actually worth something now.
When you were walking the perimeter, I noticed that it looked as though a piece or 2 of the siding was missing in the area of that end where there is water intrusion in the bedroom and bath.
I thought it was a 1999 model when he was trying to figure out the age but I was only guessing. 1998 home in that condition would sale for around 22,000 to 25,000 in the Midwest. The carriage lights at the end use to be popular years ago.
Hey guys my nephew works for Vanderbilt in the repo department and covers the South Carolina and North Carolina areas. If you are looking for good affordable units I can get you his number if you want it. You need a cheap camera drone to look at the roofs. They are well worth the money spent on them if you have more than ten roofs you have to take care of. In laws,,, your own, friends and neighbors, they beat climbing on the roof.
The higher kitchen floor would be bad for someone with mobility issues. I was never one for the ‘fancy extras’ ,to me they make a house look dated . I would rather have plan and simple and add accessories that might be more trendy.
They don't hold a candle to the old 70's styles. The metal siding holds up to this day better than that cheapo vinyl. Most had paneled walls, may not have been real wood, but it looked classy. As long as you had your roofs treated for weather, they were nice. I know, because I lived in two of them. The newer one I am in, (2000) is cheap, cheesy, and I would so love to get out of it.
Yup, I'm in agreement, they did the master bath like that deliberately to be 'sexy'. I hate green in interior design, but I'll bet this mobile home was a smash, and I agree, they probably charged an arm and a leg for this thing back in the day. Sure didn't take all that long for them to start tearing it up, did it? So do you guys do all the work yourselves, or do you hire help? Not that it matters, but sometimes when you're showing these poor mobile homes, I cringe, thinking of back in the day when we were doing all the work. I'm almost glad I'm too old to deal with it. But you guys are fighting the good fight. Good luck, but I don't envy you.
Hey next time you are in Darlington SC eat at the mayflower restaurant great food they give you allot. Enjoy your videos my trailer my mom bought us a 92 still needs some work but love some of the sizes they have now trailers and the tiny houses they coming out with I checked Clayton's out and the guy on UA-cam who shows new mobile homes❤
@@mybrotherdonnie we went few days ago still good place hey do a good review there help the place out you got lots of subscribers to your channel. Take care too!! 😀
Nothing wrong with a mobile home’s.. but to buy one you need to be an electrician and plumber and a construction worker and plenty of money.. would love to have one with some land
@@mybrotherdonnie Do I have to replace the subfloor? I was hoping I could get thicker underlayment when I get new floor planks but I don't know if that would work out
Might be top end but it still has the cheap fake appearance mobile homes do, like trim over wall panel seams. Still, I have to give it credit for havin metal doorknobs as opposed to those more common plastic ones. Lastly, 25 years isn't a long time at all before requiring a total strip job as that one does. Oh and I don't like tornados. They're not for everyone. 👍😉
A question for everyone -- it is my understanding that mobile home parks and communities will not accept units on their property that are more than five years old. I think that is a law. So, you have to have your own land. Is that true? In which case, no matter how extensively the m.h. is renovated or refurbished, you cannot move it to a community. Clarification appreciated.
In my county in South Carolina I need to be 30 years or newer in the county over from me has to be 1976 or newer so I believe it’s just in the counties. I do not know about mobile home parks I would think they would go in line with whatever the county would say, but I don’t know.
"The cheapest house you can get is about $250,000....so it's just getting nuts." Bro, come visit California. You can't find 1,300 sq ft for under 450k in the cheap towns of California. In the big cities 750k-1 mil for an 800 sq ft apartment is not uncommon. I guess it's all relative. Fast food minimum wage here is $20 per hr. In some states teachers don't even make that. Good video though.

Like the floorplan and features, still a gut job; new roof, siding, doors, cabinets, moldings flooring....may as well buy new.
A new one similar to this would cost you around $200 grand. I have been pricing them, so I know. This one can be fixed up for much less. Nothing wrong with the siding btw.
Looks exactly like the Old Managers trailer and they wanted 10K for it and it was a '97. But not needing any work except a good cleaning !!
Tacky decorating. Ugh, that Hunter Green. A good reminder to never decorate your home with what is "in," unless it is something that can easily be removed.
It’s not for everybody
So what will become of new homes which are grey washed? Things go in cycles, as you can see this trailer had an Ice Grey Crane toilet is actually worth something now.
I laughed so much with the cat piss comment!!😂😂
You get one with cat piss in it it is bad
I live in a double wide completely different model from this one but the green carpet and that wallpaper were the same before we redecorated.
Cool
That has to be a Norris mobile home
I don’t know
Around our area you hardly ever see them for sale, unless ground is included😊
It’s not too common to see like this
Hey guy,s You do know you can order door,s for those cabinet,s to upgrade from home-depot, Better than putting new.
No, I did not know that
When you were walking the perimeter, I noticed that it looked as though a piece or 2 of the siding was missing in the area of that end where there is water intrusion in the bedroom and bath.
We didn’t notice
Maybe it was Julian's "Patrick Swayze "home...on Trailer park boys
I think it was
Cute place.
Thanks
I thought it was a 1999 model when he was trying to figure out the age but I was only guessing. 1998 home in that condition would sale for around 22,000 to 25,000 in the Midwest. The carriage lights at the end use to be popular years ago.
They have not gave me a price yet
It’s cute.
Thanks
Hey guys my nephew works for Vanderbilt in the repo department and covers the South Carolina and North Carolina areas. If you are looking for good affordable units I can get you his number if you want it.
You need a cheap camera drone to look at the roofs. They are well worth the money spent on them if you have more than ten roofs you have to take care of. In laws,,, your own, friends and neighbors, they beat climbing on the roof.
We have a drone just for that purpose we don’t like heights
Hell tiny houses now are up at that price now. It's insane.
Yep I can see that
@@mybrotherdonnie best regards still keep following your dreams. I liked the video thanks. God bless you both.
@@dabzprincess92 thank you
@@mybrotherdonnie my pleasure I look forward to seeing more of your journeys together.
The higher kitchen floor would be bad for someone with mobility issues. I was never one for the ‘fancy extras’ ,to me they make a house look dated . I would rather have plan and simple and add accessories that might be more trendy.
I can see that
They don't hold a candle to the old 70's styles.
Most of the ones we have are in the 90s
I do a lot of work myself I do have two guys I usually higher on the weekends
Go with a green shingle roof on this one🎉🎉
Ok
here in maine i dont think they come standard with AC but they do come with a 40psf snow load. to be expected.
We don’t have to worry about snow load down here
This would've been very nice when they first got it.
Yep
Hi Guys, the dust in the furnace unit is usually called dust 🐰 bunnies, lol😅
Ok
I think it is a great layout! i never understood the gold trim (see the trim on top of the cabinets).
That is a hardest stuff to match to
Hey next time you are in Darlington SC eat at the mayflower restaurant great food they give you allot. Enjoy your videos my trailer my mom bought us a 92 still needs some work but love some of the sizes they have now trailers and the tiny houses they coming out with I checked Clayton's out and the guy on UA-cam who shows new mobile homes❤
I’ve tried that mayflower before it was good
@@mybrotherdonnie we went few days ago still good place hey do a good review there help the place out you got lots of subscribers to your channel. Take care too!! 😀
Nothing wrong with a mobile home’s.. but to buy one you need to be an electrician and plumber and a construction worker and plenty of money.. would love to have one with some land
Watch my other videos
we bought a single wide mobile home built in 2001. We put in luxury plant flooring recently and it is cracking and tearing. How can we fix it?
I’ve got it happened to found out the floor was not smooth where we put the replacement subfloor in
@@mybrotherdonnie Do I have to replace the subfloor? I was hoping I could get thicker underlayment when I get new floor planks but I don't know if that would work out
I bet this one was in a trailer park, that’s why it has the lights on the end.
Very possible
It would make a great retired single or married couple's home, get it set up in a 55+ community with reasonable HOA fees. It could be real cute.
Believe it or not, there’s no HOA’s around here
This one can be fix and up grade
Yep
Had they cleaned at all in the whole time they occupied it?
I do not know
Might be top end but it still has the cheap fake appearance mobile homes do, like trim over wall panel seams. Still, I have to give it credit for havin metal doorknobs as opposed to those more common plastic ones. Lastly, 25 years isn't a long time at all before requiring a total strip job as that one does.
Oh and I don't like tornados.
They're not for everyone.
👍😉
That is right not for everyone
Did I miss the asking price on this or was it not included in the video?
I think they want 35,000 for that one
@@mybrotherdonnie thanks.
* * More likely they had to remove the skylight due to height restrictions for moving it.. ie: going under bridges, powerlines etc.
Ok
Mobile homes, Have to low of a Pitched roof for Shingle,s I would put fire-stone Rubber, It will flex in the move, and it last,s a long time
Ok
Just curious do you remember how much they were asking for that nicer one with the nice layout and interior
That one they would not give me a price on, so it wasn’t ready to sell yet
A question for everyone -- it is my understanding that mobile home parks and communities will not accept units on their property that are more than five years old. I think that is a law. So, you have to have your own land. Is that true? In which case, no matter how extensively the m.h. is renovated or refurbished, you cannot move it to a community. Clarification appreciated.
In my county in South Carolina I need to be 30 years or newer in the county over from me has to be 1976 or newer so I believe it’s just in the counties. I do not know about mobile home parks I would think they would go in line with whatever the county would say, but I don’t know.
It could be beautiful again with a little bit of work
Yep
Where does the washing machine and dryer go?
Don’t remember
"The cheapest house you can get is about $250,000....so it's just getting nuts." Bro, come visit California. You can't find 1,300 sq ft for under 450k in the cheap towns of California. In the big cities 750k-1 mil for an 800 sq ft apartment is not uncommon. I guess it's all relative. Fast food minimum wage here is $20 per hr. In some states teachers don't even make that. Good video though.
Thanks for watching
Which is exactly why I no longer live in CA. Grew up in Orange county. No longer the same place, sad😢😢😢
@@swearenginlawanda believe it or not, I used to live in Fresno
That is not a stove, nor an oven hood. It's a cooktop and a range hood. 😊
Ok
If the price is right, I'd buy this home and remodel it
They haven’t give me a price yet
