I had nothing but good things to say about Tuff Enuf, until I had them rebuild my 340. Since 73 340s use cast cranks that are externally balanced, I had it internally balanced, but he had an employee that did the valve job. 6 months later, the power started falling off. I had another shop re-do the valve job. The valve height was all over the place. Needless to say, the valve spring pressures were all over the place, as well.
Well I just figured out what that line is! This oil pump has a piggy back vacuum pump for the the wipers! Sometimes just reasoning the use just gives the answer. I don't feel bad about knowing it because none of the venders or experts could answer the question.
I did not know either until Davin rebuilt the 365 from a 57 cadillac on Hagerty. Ha ! he rebuilds the oil pump and on the back side is a sliding vane style pump for vacuum.
I know this is 2 years old but. At 3,49 minutes there is a shot of the oil pump with a line from the pump to the engine block. I am in the middle of assembling a 1954 331 for a old Hot Rod and the oil pump from this engine has a port for this line. I do not have the line and I was told by one of the caddy distributors that no Cadillac ever had such a line. #1 What is the purpose of this line? I have been getting a run around about this for weeks and I just ran into this video. Any help would be appreciated I do not want to ruin this engine.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE THOSE EARLY CADILLAC MOTORS!!!! GREAT FOR ANY HOT ROD OR CUSTOM.

Would have been nice to see a video of it running.

The valve transitions into the chambers are horrid.
