Don't ever talk BS about the Z32 again. You should just stop making videos about it since you have no real knowledge on that platform. All you do is degrade and shit on our platform.
yeah akebon BBK is essential with these cars, itll make the z go from notorious brake fade, smashing into the nearest tire bank you can find, to tapping the breaks and throwing your passengers through the windsheild in no time flat. bitch will stop on a dime and give you 9 cents back.
The Z32 300ZX was my dream car growing up, and I finally got one a few years back. Some thoughts: The NA may be "slow" but it is still incredibly fun, compliant, and luxurious. You will never win a drag race, but you will have a smile on your face as your twist around turns with the t-tops open. The 2+2 gets crapped on, but fun fact: the 2+2 was the model used for all the Z32's award-winning racing due to its 51/49 weight distribution. Plus it makes the car a usable daily where you can actually fit things in the trunk, by folding the rear seats down. The engine bay SUCKS to work in, just as much as you've heard. It's mechanically easier to replace the intake with a cone filter than it is to change the stock filters. I wish I was joking. The car is heavy. It's not a drift missile and it's easy to put the rear end out. Treat it like a GT car that handles turns with precision but not with the carefree sliding glee of a BRZ/240SX unless you're an expert. You really do have to keep these things expertly maintained. If you don't have both knowhow + time or money + care, don't get one. That said, one that has been taken care of is reliable. I have never once had a mechanical issue on the Z besides one bad pulley at 115k miles. And many Z owners take their cars up to 200k miles. I have heard nightmares about turbos failing, so I consider the TT to be less reliable. This car's design is TIMELESS and you will have people asking you "What is that thing?!?" thinking you own some modern year supercar or some super-Supra they never heard of. These will never age badly. I'm sure in 20 years when people are EV-swapping them, they will feel just as natural as electrics because they look like spaceships already. TL;DR: The car is a pain in the ass in some ways but it MORE than lives up to its reputation. There's a reason it made Car and Driver's "Best 25 cars ever made" list TEN YEARS IN A ROW.

I’m buying a 93 TT next month, very clean solid setup with the GT535 twin turbo setup. Buying from my buddy who just had the top end rebuilt and added the bigger turbo ki. Going to be my C&C car.
I’ve had my 1990 300zx for 2.5 years now and I bought it as an 18 yr old (my first car). As an absolute AMATEUR who was obsessed with this car I got it knowing the consequences. This car has definitely bent me over the past two years, costing me a few thousand in maintenance. But now I have a fantastic and reliable Z. I’ve learned a lot through this car but if you’re young and inexperienced you may want to steer clear. That being said my car is COMPLETELY stock still after 2.5 years and I’ve been dreaming of doing coils, wheels, tires, etc but as a broke college student all of my cash is saved for when I eventually have to fix something. Be smart and be careful. I love my car so much and have zero regrets. Big plans this summer when I throw some serious money into it.
I've owned two of these cars - an NA and a TT. IMO the NA is still very fun and feels a lot quicker than 222 hp (and with an HKS dual exhaust sounds great). The NA was very reliable and, besides a clutch slave cylinder going out, didn't give me any problems at all over a year and a half. The TT was way more problem filled and just never seemed to run 100% right. These cars have a lot of little hoses that like to crack due to the heat of the cramped engine bay so use a smoke machine it helps..it was quick though! My car had a 1 piece driveshaft, slightly bigger turbos, injectors, exhaust and a tune.
I own a 1995 na for years now and it has been my daily and has never left me stranded and super reliable. I do agree with the maintenance part lol. I had to change quite a few worn out suspension components as is an old car and no matter how good was taken care of, if you going to buy one, know already that you will sooner or later going to change something. Is a price to pay, but nothing beats the look and fun of the 300zx.
I am currently 4 years into my Z32 build… and closer to 6 figures spent than I care to think about. Will be the most insane street going, track capable Z32 ever built.
@@Nismo65 i mean i have only done coils, wheels, maintanence, and got an exhaust and a bunch of replacement plastic and a new fan and i am 18,000$ in already

My friend back in the early 2000s had an dark green slick top N/A manual 300 with 150 wet shot of nitrous and dual 3" exhaust, dumped on some wide 17" wheels. It was sooo much fun and looked awesome!!!
I don’t know why this internet mechanic keeps talking about a car he doesn’t know. I guess it’s easier to copy paste a bad rep and be an element of enforcement for the bad rep
Don't forget: the t-tops leak like hell if it's been wrecked, and the HICAS rear steering sucked so bad that most people use an eliminator kit. Love the entusiasm, Alex, as always.
I own 3 twin turbos. Some advice. Don’t buy one unless you love it. Great cars but they are very expensive to get sorted. I spent 2k just replacing trim alone. Also you pretty much have to pull the motor on these cars anyway so might as well reseal it with a new wiring harness, 120k kit and rear main seal. And yes they are reliable, just alot of them are beat so you are spending quite a bit bringing them back to its glory days.
@6:31 no hate, but the na and tt motors. vg30de and vg30dett. are EXACTLY the same internally, other then pistons, wrist pins, oil squirters and exhaust valves. everything else is identical. auto and 5 speed had dif cam lobe profiles. the 5 speed being the more aggressive of the two. on a saftey side however, the TT did have the external oil cooler which does help drastically in attempting to maintain reliability on these cars esp with the increase temps of the tt version, compared to the na which did not have this feature. but both motors are built equally as stout. again no hate, i love the channel! and love anything Z32! keep rocking hommie! p.s. everything else, was DEAD on POINT!
The video I was waiting for haha, after watching the video I can agree that if you don’t treat the car correctly it’s gonna be a PITA, but it’s a good platform, probably not as agile as a S chassis but still can be drifted or track and a robust motor, but if you aren’t too experienced with mechanic work you should probably look for a specialist of the platform, since it’s king of tricky the engine bay

Seeing all the z32 content coming back up makes me miss my first car, a running and driving 92 na. Back 6 years ago I was able to get it for just $2850. Sucks they're so expensive now I would absolutely pick another one up
I bought mine for 6k like 2 years ago 80k miles . Needed rust repair, alignment, and fluid flush. It’s running amazing though if you don’t overdo the engine mods it’ll treat you nice. Find your local 300zx / Z community to find a good mechanic though as they are often times very hard to work on .
This easily one of my top 5 favorite looking JDM cars from the 90’s, also I hope you talk about the 4th/5th Gen Prelude, DSM, Cobalt SS, and C5/C6 next
I have had 2 300zx and my current one is a TT w/ 130k miles. Love ya Alex, but theres so much misinformation on this video. Also, the NAs are just as strong as the TT. So just boost the NA, you can hold 700whp on a NA-TT if you have a decent tune.
Buy an NA stick shift car. Get a clean one and then do headers and true dual 2.5" flowmasters from your local shop. Unless you want to dump crazy money into one, just be happy with a clean NA model. They drive really nice. I was shocked
Got a clean 1990 2+2 model for $10k last year, already spent close to $5k on getting the engine to run properly 🥲 should be relatively smooth sailing from here tho with regular maintenance. Absolutely love this car
I had a gorgeous blue 1990 NA that I sold years ago, and it is still one of my favorite cars I've ever owned, and I've owned some very cool cars. I really miss it. And it was an auto, even!
I am looking at getting one of these and put a VQ37VHR(these motors are dirt cheap asf rn $1000-1500 for a 350hp NA) it already bolts up to a CD009 and the engine bay is wide enough to where you can add stock R35 GTR turbos unto the VQ. Only thing I am worried about is if the hood will close because the VQ is a very tall motor. I reckon I can get everything done with a standalone doing all the work myself for $12-15k.
Z content❤❤❤❤❤❤ always love seeing z32 stuff. Not many people do it such a complex car it's a pain to work on it and film constantly You should mention rust issues 😂 that's the one thing I wish I knew to look for when I got my slicktop. Little did I know the wheel well was extremely rotted behind the chunky tires it had 😅
currently in the process of getting mine running and driving and thought may as well single turbo the NA as my goal is 400whp and gain seat time with that before raising it up via fuel injectors and E85. Also doing work in the engine bay to make it as simple as possible and routing things to make it less cluttered and more user friendly as best I could.
Some of these facts are just wrong lol. We don't have Subaru problems like headgaskets lol. Our problems are mostly electronics and wiring like any 30 year old car. Or pretty much like any Nissan usually it's cas related stuff. You don't have to pay that much for one of these NA range is 6k-10k TT is 20-25k. The bubble is going down. Of course the community is trying to push it back up but it doesn't seem like it's going to thankfully. The NA weighs 3200ish The turbo weights 3400ish So it's not that heavy. Lighter than an r34 and mk4 supra and nobody calls them heavy. Brakes are fine. Same brakes are used on the skylines lol. The NA and TT blocks have the same potential. Rods are the weakpoint. Other than that plenty of people in this community have turbo'd their NA with good results. Highest hp was 793 I think. Look out for rust damage near the rockers, battery tray, and t tops. Happy hunting!
Sorry if I missed it but I’d add “upgrade your exhaust manifold studs” especially if you have a twin turbo. It’s a good bit of weight hanging at a funky angle. If you want to make it easier to work on put in a vortec v6 with a carb swap, can even do a blow through carb if you want to twin turbo it again.
Bought my 93’ NA for 3 grand and if I’m going to anything to the car I’ve learned to just make it visual upgrades.. cause it’ll never be fast BUT THATS OKAY CAUSE ITS DAMN COOL LOOKING
Got a 93 TT. If you can't wrench onnit yourself these cars are ridiculously expensive to maintain and repair. For me I do all the work myself. Currently at 177k miles and everything works on it. It's tastefully modded 400hp machine. Once you do all the deletes it really ain't that bad to work on lol
if you want one of these, its much cheaper to get an NA manual then TT swap because you won’t have to delete the hicas on the TT model. Also get in touch with someone who knows these cars, MAINTENANCE costs a lot with these since they’re from the 90s, NISSAN and the part vendors tax is insane nowadays. GET ONE NOW BEFORE they go up to like 30k like the rx7 fd, nobody wanted to work on 13b either back then but look how much those worth now.
I've got to admit you guys from the states have got it nailed with styling the Z32 👌 the aftermarket scene in the UK is pants I've always been a skyline man R32 to be precise but I've found myself drawn towards the Z32 recently... In this video there's a red Z32 with white centred work meister S1 chrome lips would anyone know which kit it's got on please It's on @ 5:53 onwards
1) it is a Grand Tourer (GT), not an econo-box or cheap entry level import. Weight comes with the territory. 2) the only dilemma Subaru has is poor manufacturing. Subarus are literal garbage on wheels. The Z32 is not comparable to cheap manufacturing. 3) Lamborghini actually has Z32 headlights. Not the other way around. 4) I have a naturally aspirated Z32 for sale if anyone is interested. Check my channel for the full scoop on it.
All these issues you mentioned are just reinforcing my will to buy the one I am looking at and I have no idea why. Is it a downgrade to go from a 370z to a 300zx tt? I don't think so, my pocket might.
I love my z32 TT. And they're not that bad to work on... No it's not the engine bay of 70s pickup you can climb into but it's not nearly as cramped as a modern mini van either.
@alexmatini. Fun fact Lamborghini bought the Z32 headlights not the other way around. Ive owned my Z32 for 24 years swapped NA to TT, modest build with forged internals, nismo 740cc injectors full bolt on options and 370z Akebono on all 4 corners. Its a 5 speed manual with a new 1998 tranny from Japan cause why not.
So I got my 300zx na is tune but I got a misfire issue u think u can help me solve my problem I bought a new crank angle sensor feel day work perfect but now when I go high Rpms start to misfire so I disconnect the angle sensor and put it back again and work fine so what is the problem

You don't have to pay that much for one of these NA range is 6k-10k TT is 20-25k. The bubble is going down. Of course the community is trying to push it back up but it doesn't seem like it's going to thankfully.
The NA weighs 3200ish
The turbo weights 3400ish
So it's not that heavy.
Man Dude thanks for the shoutout on the 300zx’s
Sorry if I missed it but I’d add “upgrade your exhaust manifold studs” especially if you have a twin turbo. It’s a good bit of weight hanging at a funky angle. If you want to make it easier to work on put in a vortec v6 with a carb swap, can even do a blow through carb if you want to twin turbo it again.
Really like shooting in the garage with the Ferrari and tire rack all black with the conti sign. Looks great.
Bought my 93’ NA for 3 grand and if I’m going to anything to the car I’ve learned to just make it visual upgrades.. cause it’ll never be fast BUT THATS OKAY CAUSE ITS DAMN COOL LOOKING
I bought mine for 1800 it runs great all stock
Got a 93 TT. If you can't wrench onnit yourself these cars are ridiculously expensive to maintain and repair. For me I do all the work myself. Currently at 177k miles and everything works on it. It's tastefully modded 400hp machine. Once you do all the deletes it really ain't that bad to work on lol
Which deletes did you do?
if you want one of these, its much cheaper to get an NA manual then TT swap because you won’t have to delete the hicas on the TT model.
I love my 94 NA....😢
Great videos bro !
ive got a 300zx tt inspired by hill climb cars and the imsa 300zx gto 800hp eagle rods and it starts up every time first try.
Glad to see your still using the word Beto music 🔥🔥🔥
Let's Go MartiniWorks!!!💯💪🏽💯
Not gonna lie I love these videos and I'm just wondering if we can get a "How to Modify the Ford Crown Victoria"😂
The dopest Z
Just went to your website, only an intake (motor wise) for the Del Sol.
I've got to admit you guys from the states have got it nailed with styling the Z32 👌 the aftermarket scene in the UK is pants I've always been a skyline man R32 to be precise but I've found myself drawn towards the Z32 recently... In this video there's a red Z32 with white centred work meister S1 chrome lips would anyone know which kit it's got on please
It's on @ 5:53 onwards
R32 ohlins dfv can be used with top hats in front trimmed a bit.
Don't forget about that damn lifter tick!
Is there anywhere in Chicago area to get my 1990 TT fixed up and running again ? The motor has big problems. I can never find a shop to build it right
I had few na lol but definitely when I got the twin turbo was my baby until some one hit it 😢😢but definitely working on them it’s not easy
Please do the Caliber Srt 🙏, loving these videoss 🐐
I love my z32 TT. And they're not that bad to work on... No it's not the engine bay of 70s pickup you can climb into but it's not nearly as cramped as a modern mini van either.
@alexmatini. Fun fact Lamborghini bought the Z32 headlights not the other way around.
Ive owned my Z32 for 24 years swapped NA to TT, modest build with forged internals, nismo 740cc injectors full bolt on options and 370z Akebono on all 4 corners. Its a 5 speed manual with a new 1998 tranny from Japan cause why not.
Just spent 1.4K on a ugly one from 94 wish me luck
So I got my 300zx na is tune but I got a misfire issue u think u can help me solve my problem I bought a new crank angle sensor feel day work perfect but now when I go high Rpms start to misfire so I disconnect the angle sensor and put it back again and work fine so what is the problem
need to take mine somewhere in the LA area to get EGR fixed any recommendations
U should make a video of the 1st gen 300zx I think thats the only 300zx I'd actually buy
Got me one of them clean blue NAs and it's reliable as f, never selling
Can you do a video on the Honda Prelude? Sank sank
I need that Lexus sc400/300/soarer video🔥🔥🔥😏

How to modify Subaru Legacy B4 2007
280zx is the best, Alex.
He must not know about the NA-TT conversions being
I'll take my chances on this 7k 300zx
lowkey wanna see Alex review some volvo's, like the amazon, 240's,...
Audi B5 S4 next Alex? Since it’s popularity is slowly going up now due to SingleTurboNoggyS4
Talk about its downfall on the tech , ambient air temp sensor keeps you from having air conditioning lol and you cant find a oem sensor
My 1981 s130 with her bored l28et would destroy your 350 swapped s30. And she'll look damn beautiful while doing it.
