As a Gastroenterologist who is also a Type 1 diabetic, your video was excellent. As you found, it is very hard to stay on a FODMAP diet for any length of time. It is also important to rule out diabetic gastroparesis as symptoms can be identical.
Thank you so much. I’m thrilled to hear you approve of it. Appreciate you leaving a comment.
I learned about FODMAPs about 7 years ago thanks to my nutritionist. She worked with me and I used the Monash guide and a US gusto that she was working with. It was a game changer. It has been so satisfying to not look 3 months pregnant at bedtime. She educated my physician, too. Now it is much more main stream and easy to get info.
That is SO good to hear!
Thank you for this tip. As a person with t2d and ulcerative colitis, I find this video very interesting. Glad there is an app, before we just "shot from the hip" when trying to balance these ailments.
The Monash app was such a great find
I have gastroparisis with a ielostomay. This is an helpful video
I absolutely love your videos! 💙
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for this incredibly knowledgeable FODMAP information. I too am a type 1, and the foods that cause you the worst trouble? I have issues simply smelling them! I also break out in hives and have an ultra sensitivity (but not allergy, go figure) to those exact foods. I recall one time my dear dad placed an onion in the cavity of a turkey without mentioning anything, and I was bloated and nauseated for days. I so appreciate confirmation that this is not just in my head. You are a wealth of excellent information.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I’m glad you’ve identified your triggers.
As I got older my digestive system changed too. I can't eat an avo but can have some in a smoothie. I can't eat a soft boiled egg but can tolerate a hard boiled one. Onions are the death of me. But lately everything bloats me. Had a very bad 24hrs eating frozen veg, that I roasted recently. So yes, seems like veggies are not my friend anymore. Lately everyone seems to be jumping on the carnivore diet to cure ailments.
Things absolutely change. And finding our triggers can make a world of difference
Checking the glucose and adding a diet! It’s a lot of work and management! You’re strong!
I’m always learning with you! I have a question on another subject. What do you think of intermittent fasting for someone who have diabetes 1 ? I realized that I can do 16 hours of fasting if I take a black coffee in the morning. My glucose stay stable. I think my digestive system can rest this way.
If your insulin is titrated correctly you should be able to do a fast without going low. You just have to make sure to always have some level of insulin onboard (basal insulin) to prevent DKA. As far as I know, the main reason why fasting can be helpful for weight loss is that it makes most people reduce their calorie intake.
Omg those words 😳 😅 thank you for sharing. i have bloating all the time 😢
Right?! 😆
I sometimes wonder from time to time what would happen to a diabetic if for 6 months straight they hyper-dosed on a daily basis high quality Vitamin D3 (10,000UL+) and Magnesiam Glysinate and Magnesium-Dimagnesium Malate (500mg+) and combined all of this with Intermittent Fasting?🤔
